HTC HD2 newspaper ads. - HD2 General

I felt a sense of pride today when I saw 3 separate HD2 adverts by Vodaphone, T-mobile and Virgin in todays Metro newspaper.
Nothing more to say except...where is o2's ad??

i thought exactly the same mate,
this time HTC are really advertising over here.....

What? Vodafone are advertising the HD2 after they withdrew it for consumers?

O2 are affraid it will canibilise sales of the palm pre which they forked out cash for to sell it exclusivly

"Nothing more to say except...where is o2's ad??"
Why would they need an ad? This past 2 months they haven't been able to get them fast enough to fulfill demand anyway.

That is true LOL. I think they should put my phone on the ad...the Today is much improved.

Same sense of pride I felt when I saw Microsoft showing it off at CES, and WinMo - Xbox Live Fusion? Genius.

Has sony given up on the X1?

Its the little things that i've been noticing about the X1
Spelling Mistakes on Panel download page and xperia.com "Mytopia Panle"]
Nearly all the links are broken on http://www.sonyericsson.com/x1 (UK)
CNN and Mytopia panel still listed at "coming soon"
It used to be free to call X1 Support line in UK - now you have to pay 10p/min
Under new software available it still says the latest is 02-13-2009 (on the UK site yet the date is in American format)
Seeing none of the new things in R3A too was annoying
Have they compleatly given up on the X1 because its as if they are not even trying - i signed up the the Sony Ericsson news on the x1 site - did they email me about the R3A update? Noooo
I have to get everything and news from XDA!
Have they given up on it?
maybe they don't keep the uk site uptodate

All links are working for me(using the dutch page)
personally i think its the uk SE have given up on. All the other sites seem to be uptodate and they get the releases quicker too.

... they've probably dumped it in preparation for the X2.
The US site is months behind any other.
We don't have a R3 update.
We don't even have a CNN Panel download or "coming soon"
We have to buy the X1 outright because none of our carriers offer it.
X1a came out three months after the X1
I'm growing tired of SE.
I went through the same thing with the C902 that was rushed out with a lousy firmware. Had to change my CDA to a german code to update to a stable firmware.
I need to relocate!!!
i guess i made the right choice going to touch HD
How many more hints do we need that SE has moved on?
1) Updates are minimal and unannounced.
2) SE hasn't made any money. Revenue was "break even"
3) The CEO has already said that the X1 was a failure.
SE's minimal resources are probably being dedicated to the X2.

Me too, I am getting tired of my NAM firmware...sometimes I consider updating to the UK Rom, which I know is much better than NAM.
There is something about me though, I guess I am a nationalist. I'm losing hope for America though...I am tired of reading about europeans getting 5 brand new touch HD's for the family contract when in America we have to get a crappy "basic phone" with our family contract.
from myside, i returned to the r2a rom (uk). got pissed off by r3a. my keyboard became hard to press and other annoyances i got tired off, so i switched back to the old r2a, which did work well, at least for me. im thinking of losing this phone too. i am really in great dismay because i have been so excited getting this phone, only to find out that it sucks.

He doenst actually say that the x1 is a failure, just that it was "a kind of experiment" (direct quote there).... but I hope they dont withdraw their support as its a nice little phone... although I think I am due an upgrade soon so will probably change my phone to the latest new toy... uh I mean important and valuable tool for work (if the wife asks...!!!)
There were no words of "failure" there
so don't mess it up.

To Upgrade or not To Upgrade

Hello all,
I currently have a Raphael, running a just about bedded-in NRG ROM, with Sense 2.1 and all the trimmings. My Orange UK contract is up and I have moved to a 1 month rolling SIM, as I couldn't get a 12 Month contract with a phone anywhere.
So my question to you Leo owners is, is it worth £490 of my non-existent money to upgrade to this phone?!

This one man's opinion is YES.
I hated my Samsung BlackJack & BlackJack II, and was VERY disappointed in my HTC TouchPro (Raphael). I realize some other people have had problems, but after 3 weeks with this phone I have no big complaints and I am quite happy with the purchase.
Of course, please buy food and clothing with your non-existent money first. No phone is worth starving to death
I agree. Buy it. Buy it now. In fact, why are you wasting time on this forum when you could be out buying a HD2??
Nah, seriously there are issues, which I'm sure you're aware of, and it seems that some batches of the phone have had lots of issues, whilst others have virtually none, so it's just pot-luck.
If you can, it may be worth waiting a few months to see if HTC sort out the current issues.
Personally, I've got one of the good ones and I have very few problems. I can type on it faster than any phone I've ever had, and I usually only have to reset it when I do something wrong!
I couldn't recommend it more, but I can't promise you'll get one of the good ones.
Awesome
Thanks for your answers...

it's not their fault that you couldn't wait they sold you a device with 512 mb ROM. They didn't lie or something. it's like i buy an iphone 1g and say after 3 years: "if you don't upgrade this to 3gs, ill sue you."
anyways a lil bit more ram/rom isn't a big deal for me.

If this (RAM/ROM) is the only change (apart from band changes) that's all fine - however I have a sneaky feeling they will also have sorted out the pink camera issue (new lens perhaps) with these later revisions - in which case I will definitely demand an upgrade.
Sooo poor
UK Vodafone HD2 user. We've already been stiffed over the poor quality of the early ROM's with camera quality, stability issues and lets not mention the on going saga that is the stuck sms issue in the outbox which hasnt been rectifyed yet and now this!
We truely have been stiffed on this one which the release of double ROM and upgraded Ram in the US. They should allows us to sub our phones in like Apple and O2 did when they upgraded iPhones from Edge to 3G v.quickly for those on £40 or more contracts could swap their phones for free.
I'm just worried that the US device will be the minimum required for Windows Mobile with the push they are making, leaving Europe and Asia with no official upgrade. If they had to replaced all those outside the US that's a great hassle no company or indeed consumer will wish to endure.
This is bull****, what are HTC playing at? To me this is the equivalent of buying a gamesconsole and then a few months later they release one with more ram so it can play games which the first version cant i.e....windows mobile 7, I bet ours cant and theirs can.

it's not their job to publicise everything they are gonna publish like the nexus one: rumor, rumor, rumor; 1 week befor release: official. it's like general knowledge. If i buy a phone now, the retailer won't tell me: oh, if you wait another 5 months, there will be better phones on the market.
dude it's technology. everything is improving over time. and they are NOT supposed to advertise everything

[PULLED] Due to very unflattering HD2 reviews. I apologize.

I read a couple review, Gizmodo and few others. I see that having T-Mobile, I am better off with my Nexus. I apologize.

What do you find to be the downside of the HD2
I'm not sure what the band situation is as mine is a UK model. I can send you pics if you wish though. I've not even opened the headphones or touched the packaging since I got it and I've had it in a case with a screen protector since day one.
I come from Android and iPhone and found the SMS app and its alternatives to be inferior. I send up to 4200 texts a day and have to constantly delete threads to prevent the app slowing down.
I also use Twitter and IM a lot and Android presents a great deal more options.
I do love my HD2. I even carry a spare battery as I use it so often, but I get fed up of the bugs.
Maybe I'll regret it when I get rid as my handset is one of the few not to have a screen sensitivity bug: it works perfectly with no ghost typing or weird flitting between letters; my other three suffered annoyingly from this hardware problem.

Have a look here, you might have a bit more luck selling it.
They seem to sell for a little over £200 on eBay.
Ebay indicates £200-£250. I've kept my eye on a few new ones to see what they go for, and those quoted at £300-£400 don't seem to be shifting at all. I guess people looking to spend top dollar are also thinking about iPhones/Android devices etc.

Aye, it's without a doubt WM 6.5 that's keeping the price down, a shame really.
*edit*Oh I missed the link to the Marketplace in my first post, doh.
Aye, WM has so much potential, especially blended with HTC's Sense UI etc. It's just a shame so many (of the already limited) apps are clunky or useless.
Its a shame that its worth so little, but with HTC releaseing new phones every month there has never been very good resale value for them.
I will be happy with £220 when mine goes on eBay tomorrow. 5 happy years of HTC ownership are about to come to an end!

I'm not sure how that was intended, but I will take it positively
I'm not sad about it, I have loved all of my HTC's but unfortunately I have less time than I used to, to give the phone the attention it deserves. I need something simple and reliable.
I've no doubt I will be back, but for the short term I am excited to try something different. After 5 years of WM, it will be nice to see how the competition do things.
