How can I solve this? Ive converted using MP4ForHD and something else called encoder or something (forgot now). Yet whenever I try to play a video thats been converted for the hd2 specifically, the audio is out of sync. If doesnt happen on videos I record, just others that are converted.]
Might it be the Leo's media player? would anybody recomend using a different media player (free) for the device?
Thanks in advance

Please help
I used 4 convertors (handbrake, HD, MP4 and the media coder mentioned in the forum)
all of which will result in out of sync audio.. even while vieweing in computer!!!!

Annoying huh? I dont get out of sync audio on the computer, only when playing on the leo
This is a well-established bug which HTC has so far refused to acknowledge. Your best bet is for you and everybody else to keep complaining to HTC tech support until someone higher up gets to hear about it.

What annoys me is not so much the bugs but the impossibility of getting hold of anyone at HTC to tell them about them; there seems to be virtually no communication at all between "tech support" and "head office". The bugs wouldn't be a problem if we could report them and get them fixed, but there isn't anyone we can usefully report them to.

Do the videos in this link play OOS?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5341496&postcount=32
As above, try setting an audio delay when encoding (if you can with whatever software you are using).
Works fine for me.

Hi, erm I think they play correctly, ( I tried the star wars one ) Its hard to tell when theres no lip movement, but yeah it seems right
So do you recomend using those settings in that single thread?
(might I ask you, what starwars thing is that? it looks so epic )
I've raised this issue with HTC support. Clips that are perfectly in sync on the Touch HD2 are out of sync on the HD2. I'll let yout know what they say.

Sure, just go along with kr00t0n's audio delay if my profiles give OOS results.
At least for me, my current setup on that thread gives me the best looking videos without too much fuss. But it also depends on the videos you feed into it. MKVs with dts/vorbis might encounter some problems....if you have those we can talk somemore.
That's Star Wars : The Old Republic iirc....upcoming video game.

Well I have a ton of mkvs lol, but Ive converted most of them to avi already so its not a problem. I tried that method, with your profile with the slight delays ect and it worked great! really high quality as well (Although I couldnt find where to change the FPS to 30)
The only problem was it took about 25 minutes to encode a 20 minute show which is pretty long @[email protected] Especially on a quad core pc
Here are some more 0.400 delayed 720p encodes:

This is why you should turn your pc on in the morning, queue up the videos, start encoding, then go to work, lol!
After some testing, I have found that the resolution of the original video needs to be factored in to the resolution used in WinMEnc.
Most videos are 1280x720, which is 16:9, but 800x480 is 16:10.
This will cause encoded videos to be stretched upwards slightly, or in the case of more cinematic resolutions (the Legion trailer is 1280x608) stretched quite a bit.
Using this website, you can find out what settings you need in WinMEnc.
Find out the original resolution and put it in the lefthand boxes.
Then put 800 in top righthand box, and calculate.
1280x608 needs 800x380 to maintain aspect ratio (no stretching).
I edited the ini to be 800:380, as you can't edit this in WinMEnc itself, save, then load.
Comparisons:
http://www.kr00t0n.com/Kjam/Legion.mp4
http://www.kr00t0n.com/Kjam/Legion800x380.mp4
no sync issues here. I use HDencoder @1000kbit Video 128kbit Audio and check Normalize Audio.
Never had a out of sync problem converting MKV to MP4.
Some MKVs contain an audio delay for specific audio tracks, which most converters cannot read. Have the same problem when converting/muxing MKVs for PS3. Maybe this is your problem here....?!
why bother converting??? just get coreplayer and play avi's....happy days??

they use the iphones built in accelerometer to tilt the liquid in the screen. the same thing could be done with a video but you'd have to time it
Actually they don't. They are for the most part nothing more than videos. Trust me. A friend had them on his iPhone, gave them to me and I had them playing on my 8525 for a few weeks when I was using an iPhone theme. I set a hardware button to launch coreplayer with the chosen video as the last played item in full screen on start.
The hardest part was converting the video format and getting the screen size and orientation correct.

I have a friend who had a water themed one and it poured out when he tilted the phone, this could only be due to an accelerometer because it never just poured after a certain time limit only after he tilted it, i have seen others that are videos though

Hi guys,
Got a HD2 at the moment, and the youtube app doesn't run too smooth, and video playback suffers from audio lag. Anyone tried the video playback on the N1 yet, and able to comment on quality..
Cheers
Darrin
I have HD2 and N1, i've not notice any audio lag on my HD2. I haven't tested N1 youtube app but i think it has more option then the one on HD2 like i can login to my youtube account and pull all the bookmarked videos.
thanks for that, strange how i seem to be having audio lag, tried 3 hd2's, and all the same, using wifi.
how do you rate the N1 against the hd2?
cheers
hmm i can't really tell much about N1 yet, as i didn't get much time to play around. I only had it yeasterday.
Any way try chosing high quality settings from youtube app on HD2.

Any video really, have the issue with them all, the audio lags around 1/2 second behind the video, even when the video is copied to sd and played....
Would be interested to see if the N1 youtube app is better then the hd2, i expect it will be.....
hey guys,

audio is fine but video lags.
Might just be a one off, im currently charging the phone, gna reboot and see if theres any improvements...

Been on charge since my last post - youtube is now working perfectly on wifi and 3g in low quality - dont have enough patience to check vids in high quality as signal is too weak where i am.
Great quality no lag etc etc.
Also, if anyone's interested: Had a few signal problems (Vodafone) - re-inserted sim, rebooted and all is well in nexus world.
Worked like a champ on 2G where I am at! Best youtube app on any device I have ever tried, IMHO. Quick to load, even on 2G, great buffering, and so forth.
After 73 views and no answer in the Q and A thread I thought I would give the same post a try in here.
I'm using CM7 right now but I think all roms save videos recorded with Epic as m4v. I need to combine a bunch of recordings and then upload them to youtube. I can't find a good PC based program that joins m4v's well. I just want to combine them not re-encode.
Any suggestions?
I've to together some with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 video editing software and then exported as one video. I think most high end video editing platforms will also do it but I don't know. I doubt you would want to purchase this though just to do that. You may have to do some research of different products to find a cheaper solution.

Have you tried mediacoder?
YouTube has a built in video editor I think...

Thanks for all the replies everyone.
@toadlife Mediacoder may work (even though that program is NOT very noob friendly) and I have other video apps that will allow me to re-encode into other formats but I don't want to have to re-encode. I just want to join. I'm going to be recording a lot of video using my phone and I will need to join a lot of these files. I don't really need to do much editing, just joining.
@marcusant If you know of a way using Youtube to join videos together, please tell me how. I can't seem to figure out how.

Media coder has the ability to copy the streams without re-encoding them. I've used it to take the raw audio tracks out of video files, but you're right, it's definitely NOT noob friendly. I've had to spend quite a bit of time getting configured correctly at times.

nice Made me laugh today thanks.
@schnowdapowda I'll give avidemux a try although given the name of the program I sense that I might be re-encoding using that but thanks for the suggestion. I'll report back after trying.
@toadlife I'm up for the challenge if you could point me in the right area of the settings to use mediacoder.
Okay so I tried avidemux. I figured out how to append the video files and then I save the file (I'm not sure which container to choose so I chose mp4). It seems to save the file fast enough but when I jump ahead to the appended sections I get slow motion. The audio is playing fine but the video is slow motion.
Hey I never said I used it much. Lol jk. On a more serious note check out their forums.

Premiere Pro is a great bet, but there aren't too many people who drop $1,800 to edit cell phone videos.
Truth is you may have trouble finding and editor that will be happy to take these files. M4V is an acquisition and delivery format. The long GOP (group-of-pictures) structure it uses is not friendly with editing programs. In order to draw a single frame the computer may have to draw 30 other frames, sometimes both ahead and behind the playhead. Long GOP codecs take a lot of computational horsepower to work with, so transcoding to an editing format such as DVCPRO HD may be beneficial.
That said I'd try Lightworks. It's an open source NLE that's Oscar and Emmy award winning. Windows only for now. It's codec, rate, and size agnostic, so you should be good to go. I haven't used it at all, but it looks pretty good. Someday when I invest in another PC or when it comes over to the Apple side I'll check it out.

I saw there was a thread kind of about this but that got derailed...
I'm using Dice Player, MX Player, and BS Player. BS seems to work the best, but still not as good as Dice was back in HC.
Does anyone know if it's just a matter of those apps having to be optimized for ICS?

Well it's not ICS that is killing some 720P file, it's the Tegra...
i find ICS a lot better than HC, but still unable to play high profile 720p mkvs without lag.
DicePlayer is even worse than honeycomb though. MX and BS player are barely watchable.

I confirm the same, Bsplayer plays the audio but not the video . As for the Dice it always crashes ! I will lnstall Revolution HD 3 and see if this will play the 720p videos !!!
all those having issues- you need to reboot.
also bare in mind that video playback issues are not the OS's fault, Tegra 2 is underpowered to play video at 720p and 1080p, always has been, always will be.

me too, you need to do an ICS reinstall, my video playback is the same as on revolver now.
rebooted around a dozen times between lockups and just actual reboots, i've noticed no difference in any app.
i find it strange that people seem to have very different experiences than me. i have no issues getting them to play, it's just the lag.
do a reinstall of ICS.

i personally reverted back to HC
There was a thread somewhere about best settings for Handbrake for encoding mp4 to suit the Transformer. These are the settings:
"Start with the Regular/Normal Preset
Container: MP4 File
On the Video tab, choose:
Video Codec: H.264
Constant Quality: RF 24 (Lower number is better quality but higher file size, I wouldn't suggest going lower than 20 in this case)
On the audio tab change the Mixdown to "Stereo", bitrate 160
On the Advanced Tab:
Maximum B-Frames: 0
Uncheck "CABAC Entropy Coding"
Uncheck "8x8 Transform"
Uncheck "Weighted P-Frames"
After those changes, you can save these by clicking on Presets -> Save Preset and name it something like "Transformer". "
This is an exact quote of the post, I don't have the original on hand to thank the original poster. But he does deserve my thanks, as this made 720p video beautiful on my FT101.
Doesn't work so well when streamed via wifi, I think 802.11G is a little too slow, maybe I need to go to 802.11N. Works fine via a portable hard disk, or a microSD card, or even a USB stick. If you have the dock or the usb converter adaptor thingy.
Sorry for those who don't have access to a grunty PC for converting using handbrake, I guess my post isn't much help to you. I'm waiting until I get my TF101 back from a warranty repair to try a few things out, including ICS. I'm currently running Revolver, and I'm VERY happy with it.. kudos GNufabio.

Furthermore, you go on to demand that the person who gave you a nice suggestion should help you even more by holding your hand through the process.

well one person got reported for being a douche.
and yes, i'm well aware of how to flash a rom.
most of us here however are running stock ICS from the update with no root or anything like that. So simply saying reinstall ICS is not a very intelligent statement.
If i have an issue with my nexus i know how to back it up and reinstall because i have CWM installed.
however on this, as i just said, i'm running a totally stock device. i've never rooted, never installed a custom recovery, and i don't want to.
and personally, i also think the suggestion of installing ICS is BS and won't make a difference.
anyway, thank you @squire-au for that. i have seen that post and have been hoping there would be another way since totally encoding can take a very long time. but i will be testing that out overnight to see what happens.

I agree though, 720p is very stuttery now when it was fine before the update.
I didn't notice any problem like this in any of my other devices.
but whenever i take a picture with G2, and try to have a look at it in gallary,
the picture would first look really blurry at first.
and after 0.5~1 second, the the blur image would get cleaned up from top to bottom of the screen in multiple section, from right to left.
is this normal? or do i have a defect phone?
sorry for the multiple threads, my computer froze up for a second :/
It's normal. These are HUGE images and it is just essentially needing time to "load" it up and process it.
You can also try using a third-party app like Quick Pic which I think does a little better job of caching things.
But no, you don't have a defective phone just because of that.

1) Yea, its normal for the G2, but its hardly ideal. It is something that has been mentioned in reviews and hopefully a future patch fixes it and makes it more stable.
2) Yes, it would. I've owned routers flat out incompatible for whatever reason with some devices I own. You may have luck forcing the router into a particular channel and/or G-mode -- or upgrading its firmware.

Hmm, my 1080p 60fps video is fine on playback...
I usually opt for 720p though just to conserve space and because the video usually ends up on facebook or youtube anyway so it isn't like 1080/60 is necessary.
