After 73 views and no answer in the Q and A thread I thought I would give the same post a try in here.
I'm using CM7 right now but I think all roms save videos recorded with Epic as m4v. I need to combine a bunch of recordings and then upload them to youtube. I can't find a good PC based program that joins m4v's well. I just want to combine them not re-encode.
Any suggestions?
I've to together some with Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 video editing software and then exported as one video. I think most high end video editing platforms will also do it but I don't know. I doubt you would want to purchase this though just to do that. You may have to do some research of different products to find a cheaper solution.

Have you tried mediacoder?
YouTube has a built in video editor I think...

Thanks for all the replies everyone.
@toadlife Mediacoder may work (even though that program is NOT very noob friendly) and I have other video apps that will allow me to re-encode into other formats but I don't want to have to re-encode. I just want to join. I'm going to be recording a lot of video using my phone and I will need to join a lot of these files. I don't really need to do much editing, just joining.
@marcusant If you know of a way using Youtube to join videos together, please tell me how. I can't seem to figure out how.

Media coder has the ability to copy the streams without re-encoding them. I've used it to take the raw audio tracks out of video files, but you're right, it's definitely NOT noob friendly. I've had to spend quite a bit of time getting configured correctly at times.

nice Made me laugh today thanks.
@schnowdapowda I'll give avidemux a try although given the name of the program I sense that I might be re-encoding using that but thanks for the suggestion. I'll report back after trying.
@toadlife I'm up for the challenge if you could point me in the right area of the settings to use mediacoder.
Okay so I tried avidemux. I figured out how to append the video files and then I save the file (I'm not sure which container to choose so I chose mp4). It seems to save the file fast enough but when I jump ahead to the appended sections I get slow motion. The audio is playing fine but the video is slow motion.
Hey I never said I used it much. Lol jk. On a more serious note check out their forums.

Premiere Pro is a great bet, but there aren't too many people who drop $1,800 to edit cell phone videos.
Truth is you may have trouble finding and editor that will be happy to take these files. M4V is an acquisition and delivery format. The long GOP (group-of-pictures) structure it uses is not friendly with editing programs. In order to draw a single frame the computer may have to draw 30 other frames, sometimes both ahead and behind the playhead. Long GOP codecs take a lot of computational horsepower to work with, so transcoding to an editing format such as DVCPRO HD may be beneficial.
That said I'd try Lightworks. It's an open source NLE that's Oscar and Emmy award winning. Windows only for now. It's codec, rate, and size agnostic, so you should be good to go. I haven't used it at all, but it looks pretty good. Someday when I invest in another PC or when it comes over to the Apple side I'll check it out.

Here's their list of Hollywood features that it was used in the making of; I'm sure you've watched a few of them.

This is a well-established bug which HTC has so far refused to acknowledge. Your best bet is for you and everybody else to keep complaining to HTC tech support until someone higher up gets to hear about it.

What annoys me is not so much the bugs but the impossibility of getting hold of anyone at HTC to tell them about them; there seems to be virtually no communication at all between "tech support" and "head office". The bugs wouldn't be a problem if we could report them and get them fixed, but there isn't anyone we can usefully report them to.

Do the videos in this link play OOS?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5341496&postcount=32
As above, try setting an audio delay when encoding (if you can with whatever software you are using).
Works fine for me.

Hi, erm I think they play correctly, ( I tried the star wars one ) Its hard to tell when theres no lip movement, but yeah it seems right
So do you recomend using those settings in that single thread?
(might I ask you, what starwars thing is that? it looks so epic )
I've raised this issue with HTC support. Clips that are perfectly in sync on the Touch HD2 are out of sync on the HD2. I'll let yout know what they say.

Sure, just go along with kr00t0n's audio delay if my profiles give OOS results.
At least for me, my current setup on that thread gives me the best looking videos without too much fuss. But it also depends on the videos you feed into it. MKVs with dts/vorbis might encounter some problems....if you have those we can talk somemore.
That's Star Wars : The Old Republic iirc....upcoming video game.

Well I have a ton of mkvs lol, but Ive converted most of them to avi already so its not a problem. I tried that method, with your profile with the slight delays ect and it worked great! really high quality as well (Although I couldnt find where to change the FPS to 30)
The only problem was it took about 25 minutes to encode a 20 minute show which is pretty long @[email protected] Especially on a quad core pc
Here are some more 0.400 delayed 720p encodes:

This is why you should turn your pc on in the morning, queue up the videos, start encoding, then go to work, lol!
After some testing, I have found that the resolution of the original video needs to be factored in to the resolution used in WinMEnc.
Most videos are 1280x720, which is 16:9, but 800x480 is 16:10.
This will cause encoded videos to be stretched upwards slightly, or in the case of more cinematic resolutions (the Legion trailer is 1280x608) stretched quite a bit.
Using this website, you can find out what settings you need in WinMEnc.
Find out the original resolution and put it in the lefthand boxes.
Then put 800 in top righthand box, and calculate.
1280x608 needs 800x380 to maintain aspect ratio (no stretching).
I edited the ini to be 800:380, as you can't edit this in WinMEnc itself, save, then load.
Comparisons:
http://www.kr00t0n.com/Kjam/Legion.mp4
http://www.kr00t0n.com/Kjam/Legion800x380.mp4
no sync issues here. I use HDencoder @1000kbit Video 128kbit Audio and check Normalize Audio.
Never had a out of sync problem converting MKV to MP4.
Some MKVs contain an audio delay for specific audio tracks, which most converters cannot read. Have the same problem when converting/muxing MKVs for PS3. Maybe this is your problem here....?!
why bother converting??? just get coreplayer and play avi's....happy days??
Ok there are several threads about bootscreens...but i wanna try something.....not sure if i have watched to many movies or something but i want to create a bootscreen that is epic, and only for the desire hd and inspire 4g (since they are the same phone)....what i was thinking is taking several video clips and pushing them together and make our own unique and completely custom bootanimation.....but i do not have the skills to do it or the imagination, but i do have the idea to base it on....i have tried to make one myself with video converters converting from .mp4 to .png and no luck....i would like to show people what a amazing phone we have.....any ideas......BTW the song i was thinking about going with is the song from THOR....its posted if you wanna listen to it and get some inspiration, cause we can't let the thunderbolt have the best bootanimation...so throw some ideas out into this thread...and hopefully a dev will see this and help us out????
Thanks guys
BTW...if a dev can tell me how to do it or someone teach me i would love to learn...."you never learn until you ask.....or watch"

a much easier way is using mpeg streamclip it lets you export as an image sequence and its default is png on mac for me it is but it works on pc aswell i just did that no im trying to adb the boot animation just having a few setbacks getting phone ready
btw i have a bootanimation with thor audio and abit of the start of the video for the trailer from youtube so now just trying to get it to work
just tried a reboot and black screen oh well try again i suppose
have custom sound but not sure about whether the images have to be a certain size or anything yet
Thank! very nice

I like it as a first step to real multitasking on android. There is the question of where to actually "stick it"! That is, for some cases, it would be nice if, instead of the image just covering part of the screen you might need to see, you would have the option of not displaying or making it transparent instead of moving the image to another area. For example, you might just want to listen to music on You Tube and not see the image while typing something up using the polaris editor.
Just sent the developer this email
Hi, I just bought your app and it's just amazing. I really like the idea. Sometimes it freezes the phone but I think that it's just a matter of time because future updates will make it more stable.
I'm more interested in features.
1. Possibility to watch on full screen
2. Possibility to have something like a playlist or more practical a queue. I mean if you disable multi screen options. If you wanna share another video with stick it, it would be great to have the possibility to queue up the last video or to play it straight away if you see what I mean.
3. Transparency. It would be great to be able to increase or decrease it so it will be possible le to watch the video and see what's on the background. You could inspire yourself with the controls of the video app MX Video player. The transparency could be set by swapping vertically.
4. Still abt the transparency, it would be great to have an option on the top android bar to activate or disable the possibility to interact with the video window. If disabled then it would be for instance possible to use the keyboard while watching the video.
Hope updates will feature some of these ideas

To be fair, it only uses the Vitamio codecs, and I doubt it was these that was erasing files.

I feel that Android as an OS falls short in it's multi-tasking abilities...

After seeing Onskreen Cornerstone I can't even look at this App. (No offense intended to the developers)
It's good at what it does but Android needs proper multitasking.

Hello everyone, I was wondering what the best program for ripping a DVD to the A500 would be? I have tried Handbreak and every time I open the program I get an error message. Also have tried DVDFab and have not had much luck with that. It may be something I am doing, so I figured I would see what everyone else is using! thanks!
Take a look at a program called Vidcoder. It's built on the Handbrake platform. It is a bit less... err... daunting. I looked at Handbrake and in some parts didn't know what I was supposed to do. Vidcoder is a bit better.
Also, a quick Google search for optimum settings for playback on a tablet should get you a wealth of info.
Enjoy.

I like the video. Music is good for the type of video, +1 to the wallpaper because turbos, intro is cool, +1 to the themes, I like the Settings tiling up animation (not sure if that makes sense).
Only thing I would say is smoother camera handling (e.g. min. 55, min. 2:13-2:15) and the angle you have your phone is good but at some points it's hard to tell what app, or what setting you're doing/using because the very top left is blurry.
Also I can tell I'm bored right now waiting for the wifey because I just spent a lot of time reviewing a 3 minute video lol
What's the purpose of the video?
Why not link apps and mods properly with descriptions and instructions.
Why not a step-by-step or how-to?
A 3 minute video I'm forced to watch is useless.
Why spend 3 minutes looking at something?
Now you have to pause, rewind, fast forward parts if you missed something.
Everything written out would save time and not waste everyone else's.
All I see is a video to generate views.
