New SMS notifications - won't disappear

Im sorry if this has already been discussed but i couldnt put into words really for a search criteria, im sure im not the only person with this problem.
When an SMS arrives a little green 1 will show by the "letter" on touchFLO 3d, sometimes when you scroll to read the message the little green 1 (or 2 or whatever) doesnt disappear and i have to keep clicking the mail icon, or go into the WM6 message inbox to change it from "New" to "Read".
I think it happens with the email part too, not just SMS.
Anyone know how to solve this, it's as annoying as thrush.

It's annoyingly slow to register as read... there may be a registry tweak but a search revealed nothing yet

Thats a Shame I really thought someone else would have susses this with all the tweaks and tidbits.

I am having the same problem but with the email notification. Anyone have any ideas?

I have the same pb any suggestion?

Just try to click on the message and it will be open in the text mode and then close it.

I guess what the last post suggests doesn't work for the OP, at least it doesn't work for me. None of my messages are highlighted as 'unread', yet the 'unread SMS' notification at in TouchFlo doesn't disappear.
Anyone has any idea how to get rid of it ?

Have the same problem with email...stuck at 2 even thouch all mails have been deleted or read.

May I ask if deleting the account itself remove the erroneous counter?

Guys,
Check your Outlook inbox to make sure there is no unread mails there. The TF3D does not show the Outlook account but the counter in the mail tab does.
I solved my problem that way.

You're welcome, this place is a plethora of knowledge.

unfortunately it turns out the cab works only until i recieve a new message, after that the '1 unread message' notification appears again and stays even after i've read the new message.... so i'm back to where I started.
still thanks for the help. any other ideas ?

came across this bit of software but don't know whether it'll act any different from the cab.
Have you looked through every folder in the account-tree yet? Make sure they're all being synchronised as some Imap\webmail accounts can act funny (Inbox\Menu\Tools\Manage folders).
But perhaps the only thing left is to backup and hard reset (without backing up the mailfolders of course)? And otherwise it means executing the cab every time it happens again..

Fixing e-mail notification - phantom e-mail

Does anyone know how to remove a notification of a phantom e-mail from the Sense Homepage tab?
It's only on the tab at the bottom, no sign of it anywhere else, always shows one more e-mail than I have.
Have tried turning Sense off and on, turning sense off and rebooting phone, ... all the usual stuff!

Ok what happened is the reg that shows the message count is stuck, the exe that I posted will reset the reg to show 0

I've tried it twice, but I'm still left with the notification for the extra e-mail
Ah... fixed! Someone on a forum I'm not allowed to link to posted this:
"Have you recently added a new email account or set up a new exchange sync? I found when I did this there'd be a message from MS about 'email tips' would magically appear. It appearred as a 'read' message but still added a count of 1 to the 'unread' . If it's there delete it."
This was indeed the problem!

I had this problem, and tried exactly the same as you - didn't work.

I then searched the forum and found the above post. I ran the exe posted, and then rebooted, which sorted it out. Thanks zelendel! I've kept the exe in case the 'phantom email notification' happens again.

E-mail notification problem, need help please.

Got my HD2 yesterday and went through all the steps to install Kumar's rom. Everything is running great but I have just one small problem.
The e-mail notifier on the home screen shows I have 1 new message when I don't. I've tried reading all that it downloaded, deleting all e-mails, deleting e-mail account, and setting it up again. It still shows I have 1 unread e-mail.
Is there a registry key I can change to fix this problem? Or perhaps another method I have not tried yet?

Have you tired a battery pull or a soft reset. I have had this issue once before and also check in your htc mail box if there is any boxes that have unopened mail that might be it also.

Have tried resetting the device. Will check the HTC thing, if you could tell me how to find it that is...

just go to your inbox that says it has a message. on the top left if you click inbox a drop down list showing all your folders should show and check in those folders.

Found it, bah stupid Outlook e-mail having messages in it when I never set it up. Thank you for your help.

Duplicate SMS problem

I seems to be getting every sms 4 times even though the senders are only sending once. What could this be? Im running the Darky ROM v8

I have the same problem! mine ROM is Darky's v8.0 XXJPY, and operator Czech Vodafone

sms duplicate problem..
This is because you have press backup button when google ask you whether you wanted to backup your contacts... To solve this.. Go to "contacts".. Open any contact no that have "g" beside the contact... Go to "linked contacts".. Delete all contacts that have "g" beside it.. After that press backwards button.. You will see many duplicated phone no... Again, delete all contacts which have "g" beside it... I'm afraid you going to do the same thing to all other contacts..

Boss i dint get you............all my contacts are stored on my gmail account..........so all the contacts have a 'g' next to them. also , I am getting each sms not 4 but 8-12 times. Please help. I am on rooted XXJPY.

In that case its either the well known SMS problem google or use XDA search .
Or if its only just started guess what the common factor is in two your posts .
Removing that common factor may fix problem .Big clue it begins with D

Nope, i am not on Darky's. I just have a rooted XXJPY since over a month..............and this problem started more recently, say for about a week or two.

what i meant to say is your contacts no have been duplicated..
1) go to "contacts".. This is your phone contacts
2) press any contacts that have "g"..
3) delete any multiple contacts..
sorry... Hard to write long sentence cause i'm using my phone..

Hi, I have same problem with my brothers phone. Using Same Daryk 9.2 ROM no issues on my phone but i don't us SMS much.
What is the well known SMS problem. I have been searching for 30 minuites. A link would be nice or even a search term
Edit, More searching and it seems in January a lot of people had an SMS problem where SMS went to the wrong person. Not one said anything about duplicate SMS.

[Q] Unread email icon counter not showing

When I first got my Tab I'm sure the email icon would display a small red round circle with the number of unread emails in it. For some reason this seems to have stopped working. I think the dissappearance coincided with me reseting the device.
I'm beginning to think I imagined it. Does anyone have this feature and I'd be grateful to hear how I get it back. I'm on 2.2.

AFAIK it's a setting in the preferences of your launcher...

it just shows first account. every other account is ignored.
