Ever since I got the Nexus One, I am unable to pick up much less use MyTouch 3G device. I enjoyed the MT 3G very much rooted with Cyanogen's Mod., but now I have to move on. The Nexus One is light years ahead that the MT 3G. Sadly it is now placed in my gear bag to collect dust with other devices. Anyone else having this experience?
nope, I ebay'd my MT3G for $295
Haha definitely, I have a G1 and mytouch on different lines and everytime I pick them up its just depressing now, gonna go down to 2 lines and give the mytouch to my roommate unless i cant talk her into a nexus one also

Holy crap! You got that much for a MT3G?!
It makes my old G1 feel like a gameboy color or something, no joke that phone was such a great device. I'm still getting used to the software keyboard but this thing is hard to put down.

yes, granted it was in mint condition, as most of my stuff is (i did sell it as used though).
I sold my myTouch 3G the Nexus One is so much better. I don't regret spending $529 now :]
sold my g1 for 200 and got the nexus im not sad at alllll lol
dang you guys are lucky I couldnt get more than $195 for my MyTouch
I picked up my G1 a few minutes ago to test something out...... and it felt so awkward and bulky and fat and slow. I doubt I can go back. I may not be 100% used to only using a vk all the time, but the phone just feels so nice compared to the G1. Just the way it felt in my hand was like damn. I love my Nexus One.

Not saying I didn't love my G1, but after using this beast for a few days it just felt so puny in my hands again.
I attempted to try T-Mo in my area to get this phone. No go for me. I can only wish and hope it goes to Sprint, as I wouldn't piss on a Verizon store if it was on fire.

So my dad is a photographer and uses google calendar for all his events. My mom is his assistant. After I got my g1, he loved it so much he got a mytouch 3g. His mytouch is god-awful slow, worse than my g1 when it wasn't rooted. As a result he doesn't use it much. I proposed the idea of rooting it and putting cyanogen on, but he's not so keen on the idea of roms and everything. So what phone should we get with my mom's 2 year upgrade for him? (we would give the mytouch to my mom (after I rooted it of course))
Nexus *cough**cough*
Yell him to wait on line at A&TT and get that IPhone 4GS and pick up a Ipad and a dock for it.
Just joking...The mytouch-Slide might be good since it will have espresso.
I suggest an Acer Liquid
It looks quite nice, its cheaper than all the other SnapDragons
Underclocked yes, but still quite speedy
Its a big improvement over the old G1 I had

Plus the Galaxy 2 will also have the Nexus launcher and UI.

Ok So I just sold my Nexus and my Vibrant got here today.
I love it. There is a lot to love about this phone.
First the screen is amazing.
I love how the phone is light yet solid.
I think what I really most about this device is that if it breaks I can take it to a store and get it replaced. With my Nexus if something went wrong, I had to send it in to HTC and wait for them to send it back, me phoneless the whole time.
I have yet to notice the lag issues others complain about and I don't miss the trackball or the camera flash at all.
Clockwork is getting a recovery going and Wes Garner is Deving for it.
All is well in the world of Vibrant and I have not a single regret!
Awesome welcome aboard

Heh, I got rid of my EVO for the Vibrant! A bit smaller screen, but SO much better! I can't wait for CM6.
Well I bought the Vibrant on day 1 of release..still have my N1, have a MyTouch Slide (my daughter is using it) and still have my G1 as well. I guess you can say I'm an Android phone collector. Whatever this "super phone" is that's rumored to be coming out in September..if its running Android I will add it to my collection as well.

+1 can't get over the speed .. and the screen is like
I still have my N1.. It is sitting in my car in my cool N1 car kit... I use it as a GPS and movie player for the kids... I am still up in the air on which phone I like better..
the Samsung because of the screen.. the N1 because of the trackball and 2.2...
I think the biggest selling points for me were:
TV out
In store customer service.
The screen.
That being said the N1 is an awesome device but right now is the time to sell it and it still have some resale. With Google Washing their hands of it, I fear what the Support will be like. I also like the dedicated GPU in the Vibrant and believe that once Wesgarner and company get CM 6 on it, it will be the fastest damn thing out there, till that dual core HTC Monster hits, anyway!

Guy inline in front of me was upgrading from a hero. He was griping about a lot of things about the epic as he was buying it like how hero has gorilla glass also and how he didn't like how there is a smily face button on the hardware keyboard when there should of been a @ key instead, among other knit picky knick knacks. He was doing a $75 discount upgrade.

Lol, some people just like to gripe. I think the phone is amazing. I got it on a full upgrade. I can barely afford the $250 as is. I'm just charging it up now so I can apply the root.
Thanks guys. My biggest gripe with my Hero is a bit of "incoming call lag" and my FAT fingers!
I love the onscreen keyboard and the guessing it does is actually works really well. I used swipe but for some reason I ended up making a lot of corrections with it(BETA). I think the keyboard on the eipc might help my typing issues.
My Hero is rooted and OC'd a little but, I get about 2 days out of the battery and its basically a PERFECT fit in my pockets.
My concerns without seeing an EIPC....yet...is pocket size. I put the Evo in my back pocket and wow, the lady at the store said "yeah its not a back pocket, then sit down type phone...lol"
Anyways, looking forward to your mini-reviews! Thanks again guys!

It's noticeably longer than the Hero, the width seems similar to me and it is actually a little thinner (except for the slight bulge at the top) so I don't think you will have a problem with size. I never thought the Hero could be a back pocket phone either. I usually carry it in my front pocket.

Believe me! When its in my back pocket, its an accident. I have money in my front left (change), when I drive my wifes van (smaller keys) I put them in my front right and then slip the phone in my back right pocket...then I'll accidentally take a seat, jump up, take my phone and out and check it real fast. its not a habit to put it back there, its purely accidental when the 3 kids distract me.
The lady at the Shack said she's seen Evos coming back for repairs from backpocket phone people and its not a pretty site :O
I'm a convert, too. I love it. Great phone
I am a hero convert as well, it's tough with out root. but that'll come soon
Who puts phones in their back pockets? That's about the dumbest thing i've ever heard
Anyways, im not geting the Epic but I do have a Hero and love it - can't wait to get my hands on a dual-core or Evo until then. The Epic is a beautiful phone, but I just can't deal with the bulkyness and keyboard. Working for Sprint though I don't know when the hell they'll allow us to upgrade and buy either of these phones lol - sure I can by it full price but why do that when our upgrades allow for an extra 20% discount
You do know that the phone was rooted prior to launch and that there is a one-click root/unroot?

Vibrant G2 Evo NS and most HTC phones for me.

Dont mind paying more for a better carrier, personally.
And making this thread serves no purpose.
The vibrant forum is filled with WorksForMeâ„¢ kiddies.
Harder hands would demolish the plastic Vibrant...
And I agree those here give the MT4g way too much undeserved slack. The phone's only megatives compared to the Vibrant are the screen (subjective), screen size,.and internal storage size. Maybe the SoC is marginally worse. Almost everything else is superior. Sammy botched the Galaxy S.

I work in a warehouse during the day and on engines in my leisure time. You won't find soft hands here, and you won't find any damage on my vibrant. Unless you've crushed your phone in your hand without trying, you're one of those "soft hand" people, at least by your logic. This phone is plenty tough, maybe not scuff resistant but it certainly isn't any weaker than any other normal phone out.
And I've been with tmobile for 6 years and have had very little trouble. Sometimes I'd wish for wider coverage, but that's my only gripe on the road. Maybe the coverage in your area is poor, but I've lived in every corner of texas and have had coverage, no dropped calls.

That has to be hyperbole right? I've had my vibrant for some months now. The amount of lag I have experienced has been sparse and when apparent, understandable if not completely tolerable. It has never crossed my mind to complain about the lag with this phone. What are you guys trying to do with your phones that you are experiencing this kind of stuff with?
I'm seriously beginning to think there are some wildly different vibrant experiences out there. There have to be, because that is just not the case for myself. I have installed lagfixes before and seen no discernible real world speed difference besides those seen in benchmarks.
It's got to be one of two things. Some vibrants are messed while others are not. Or. Half of you people are insanely impatient and will put up with nothing but absolute perfection. Something i've yet to witness on any phone, be it iPhone or HTC.
I don't think I've ever bought an electronic device with some kind of firmware that I haven't at least looked into hacking, rooting, cracking or whatever you want to call it.
Since I've had my phone its been awesome. GPS works, its fast, its modded and I do what I want with it. Anybody that buys a Vibrant and doesn't root it doesn't have a clue what they are missing. Not that if you don't root it you don't have a clue, but your are simply missing out. Now to leave this phone for well something that isn't even close is a shame.
I've played with what your replacing it with and honestly I'm not sure what you are thinking, but then again you dumped your Vibrant so I'm really not sure what you are thinking. My buddy and his iPhone4 wishes he could play the videos I play and had the freedom we have. Man it all starts at root.

can't get a cheap Nexus S out of retention because of the GPS issues.
If I don't like the Mytouch4g I'll certainly sell it along with the Vibrant, and buy a Nexus S off contract.
But, I've been hearing the Nexus S has the same flaky GPS issues too.....so meh
After modding my Vibrant with 2.2 I wouldn't want any other phone right now, especially not a 1st generation myTouch 4g which can have plenty of it's own problems.
I just rooted my wife's myTouch slide and what a PITA that was compared to the Vibrant.
I miss the Super amoled screen
Pros:
FFC
HSPA+
LED FLASH
FM RADIO
Physical Buttons + Dedicated Camera Button
Great build quality
Cons:
No Super Amoled Screen
No 16GB Internal Memory
No more Bionix :/
I don't regret it as much but going from a Super Amoled screen to a standard screen really made me realize how great my Sammy Vibe really was! I took it for granted!! You will be missed! (EXCEPT THE GPS ISSUE)

I agree with you, but since i didn't buy a new phone and simply traded i feel that jumping ship wasn't a bad choice. I still plan to upgrade!
Also the MT4G can be resold for a higher price than the Vibrant on craigslist.
BTW... WINNING!
To any CM7 users of vibrant and another phone with CM7(nexus one,MT4g,G2 etc.) are there any other difference in speed? I'm using Cm7 on vibrant but i can't compare it cause it's my only phone.
I picked up a g2 for cheap but still have my vibrant. I don't know what all the fuss was about. This doesn't feel any faster than my kb5 vibrant, and the "build quality" just makes it feel heavy and bulky. Its a decent phone overall, but not any better overall than my vibrant.

Even the hinges on this unit are amazingly stronger than the other g2's i have used.

Not quite sure what about the SGS 4G would renew your interest in comparison to the Vibrant, unless you are in a 4G area and just really CRAVE the extra bandwidth so much that you won't miss the internal 16GB from the Vibrant (4G only has 1GB internal).. And of course, FFC.... which really AFAIC is a "bell and whistle" that 99% of people use once and never use again.

Add the bad/good screens, dust under the screen issues, bad eMMC chips that are said to cause bricking, creaky buttons on a few units, and off centered FFCs on a few. I wanted to trade as well, but a look at the forums steered me right away.
Well, the only phone I'm moving to when I get the chance is the SGSII, no matter what.
I love HTC phones but plenty of those are CDMA only and that doesnt work in my country :[
I bought the mytouch4g back in January and it was so great to have a phone that worked well right out the box and every custom gingerbread rom I've put on it has ran smoothly. However, I find myself constantly going back to my Vibrant. I miss the screen and I feel like the Vibrant has a lot more devs working on roms. I was just about to sell my Vibrant so I could have a few extra bucks when I read about the GPS fix. If I can find the perfect Gingerbread rom I will be keeping my vibrant until Samsung releases a dual-core phone for T-Mobile.
