[REQ] Can no longer program Hard Buttons - HD2 General

Hi,
I've checked these forums but can't find any obvious answer.
I previously had ROM version 1.48 where I was able to program a hard button long press of the answer call key.... SO I used a long press to bring up the task manager.
But with ROM 1.61 this seems to have disappeared.
i.e. If I go into Start -> Settings -> Menu -> All Settings -> Personal -> Buttons
A button was there for me to assign a task. But this seems to have disappeared.
Without having to install any other application (such as AE Buttons) is there any known way of creating a shortcut to a hard button ?
Perhaps a registry hack ?
Any advice would be much appreciated

Same problem here but i have Rom 1.44 Dutch Vodafone

I have same problem. I want to assign task manager to back hardkey with no third party application, but I could not find any solution

Running programs assign to hardware button?

I have tried to search this forum for a solution, but got somehow lost in all the posts. I know about those great applications like e.g. smartkey etc. but if I do want to assign only the "Memory/Running programs List" menu to a hardware button, is there any easier solution (e.g. using some registry adjustments)?
Thanks
O.
Make a shortcut exactly as follows:
ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,4,2
Save it as VJForgetMeNot.lnk
Go to Settings > Personal > Buttons
and assign VJForgetMeNot.lnk to a hardware key.
Check here for how to change the icon:

How can i use a hardware key for Task Manager

I really would like to assign my "comm manager" button to the task manager for closing programs. How can i do this?
Thanks for any help you can give me
Start -> Settings -> Buttons ?
I tried that. unfortunately neither memory nor task manager is an option for buttons. its too bad because i really dont need a button for the comm manager
Go here:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/en-us/dnppcgen/html/ppc_tcuts2.asp?frame=true
read about making a shortcut to Memory/Running programs.
Make a .lnk file as directed, place in your start menu, and then you will have that option available in Start -> Settings -> Buttons
V
Using that information you can make a shortcut with this;
28#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,4,2&ltCR>
Copy the above text into notepad and "save as", Running Progs.lnk
Copy the file to the PPC into the Windows\Start Menu folder and then link it to a hard key.
I used AE Button Plus to map task manager to the windows key which also works well.
thanks alot. I'm glad there was a solution that didn't include more software. I really loaded my 8125 up with tweaks and it made it really slow and unstable. I'm really happy wiht the 8525 as it seems to have native support for alot of the tweaks people have been doing on the 8525 and i would hate to slow it down with lots of programs.

How to replace IE button to another app

Hi There,
I have an XDA EXEC with the latest rom from O2.
How do I change the Internet Explorer button on the keyboard to launch a different application (namely: Opera).
I have looked into START -> SETTINGS -> BUTTONS and don't seem to get the option to set this button.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

Task manager idea

I was wondering if it would be possible to have nice fast simple on-screen task manager that is called from long press of home button, for example. Anyone got ideas?
It's not exactly the same question, but is it possible to map a softkey to the standard task manager? (I just bought a piel frama case and it's hard to tap on the task manager symbol)
Or add a shortcut to the task manager in the start menu .. any ideas how to do this?
try here:
http://www.dotfred.net/
he has (in my opinion) the best taskmanager with all the trimmings, but if you want a basic one that just displays running programs as a picture, like Alt+Tab on a PC, download the task switcher from the above site
once it is installed, got to START->SETTINGS->BUTTONS
you will see only one button available, this is called "Button 1" (the call key bot the hang up key) map task switcher to this
then when you hold down the call key you will have a visual taskmanager where you can end running progs etc
hope this helps
Thanks for the reply, I have that task manager already installed in Dutty's ROM, and I think it's great but I can't find a simple option like "close all active tasks" and "define exceptions"
For the second idea, I have tested it but I don't like to hold any key, I feel like doing harm to my phone
thanks for the responses guys...

[ROM 1.48] Button assginment?!

Hi people,
I'm using the 1.48 ROM and was trying to assign the handsets buttons to
applications via the windows native settings application (i.e. Start -> Settings
-> Personal -> Buttons).
Unfortuanely, the list with buttons is empty, so I cannot assign any application
(would want to use the voicecmd app). Is there a workaround to make the
volume control buttons appear in the list or assign the volume down button to
any desired .exe on the device?
Thanks. mc7

Click to expand...
Click to collapse
You can try to use AEButtons or SPB Pocket Plus..... but I think that in 1.48 ROMs voicecmd isn't included.
OR if you update to 1.61 voicecmd is already assigned to SEND button!
