As far as I'm aware, the startup splash screen doesn't halt the phone while it plays. I believe it will still take the same time to start up, regardless of whether it has a splash screen or not.

thanks buddy

I thought you can disable a startup screen with bsbtweaks

BsB tweaks will let you remove that animation, yes, and it claims to make the phone faster.

Phone Skin

Hi all,
It's freezing in London, UK! Anyways...
I hate the o2 phone skin I am stuck with, I noticed once before after a hard reset there was a much nicer skin - im guessing it was the default WM5 skin...I know it was blue... Well - I want it back ..
So today's question from me..
How do I change my phone skin.. WITHOUT HARD RESET..
Ta
lol..its bloody freezin!..
here u go...speeded up my exec..and actually prefer the simple default skin anyway..use resco or any other registry editor
To set or remove the operator phone skin
The setting is at 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Phone\Skin'
The 'Enabled' DWORD value can be set to '1' to show the operator skin or '0' to show the default skin
wow that is so much faster! Thanks!
Although - I was talking about a completely different skin? Unusual!
Ahh well this one is just what I need - a phone.
Ta!
The problem with method is that you lose the button for video calls. Is there a way around it?
Thanks

HI,
I tried the buttons and I cannot get video calls with the default phone skin (as explained above).
Thanks.
the most interesting about it actually is that it will give you 10 Megs of RAM...if you can live without the videocalling.
My videocalling button appears to work. :?

How exactly do you get that extra space?? Does it require a hard reset or can you delete the extra files? If the latter which are the correct files to delete?

HD2 Telstra ROM Tweak - Default Splash Screen for Opera

Hi guys,
Got another tweak for you Telstra HD2 owners still running the stock ROM. This cab will remove the bigpond splash screen when you load up Opera and enable the default 'HTC: quietly brilliant' logo instead.
There are 2 files attached: one which keeps the animated progress bar during Opera startup and one which removes it. Personally I like the one which removes it, but you have the option to try both.
Again, each cab just makes the required registry changes and nothing more. Changes should work straight away, no reset required.
Note: This will NOT remove the Bigpond logo from the Internet tab. If anyone has an idea of how to change this back to the original, pleas let me know
thx so much for this, anyone know how to remove quicklinks to apps from telstra on apps page
Can you just give me the registry changes needed so i dont have to use the CAB?

Yes mate...
HKLM\Software\Opera\Info
Set SplashProgressAnimation to 1 for on or 0 for off.
Just for future reference, you can unzip cab files and the xml file inside tells you what all the other files actually are, and also lists any registry changes.

Do you mean the quicklinks on the homepage are locked? if so, in the registry find
hklm/software/HTC/manila/home
You will see lots of numbered folders, these are the quicklinks.
lets say the shortcut is in the first left hand square, thats 0, so look in the 0 folder, look down for the entry IsReadOnly. If that is set to 1, the quicklink is locked. change it to 0 and you can remove the quicklink.

[App] 18 buttons Action Screen with Wifi & BT state indicator

I have adapted the HD 18 buttons Action Screen, with Wifi and Bluetooth status indicator, to the Rhodium bluetooth stack.
All credit goes to Wedge666 (thread here), to posters in his thread for customisation and of course to first Action Screen developper (I would quote him if I knew. Anyone knows? Or was it adapted from a HTC application?).
As in the original from Wedge666, you trigger with Manila Home tab right soft key, and you can configure program to make it running in background if you wish (quicker?). You have no confirmation message on shut down or reset.
You get advice about installation and basic customisation explanation in the HD thread.
Thierry
EDIT : on Roms with Action Screen already installed, it may be difficult to completely uninstall this version. And you need to apply the fix here.
Thanks thierry2064,
Will try it.
Greetings from Lille
You are welcome!
I attach here the version I use now, black and white except for the network status indicator, plain black background. Links to Pocket informant, Opera Mobile, Resco Explorer, Tomtom.. but this is easy to change, as explained in the HD thread. I may personalize it later (the favorite people button is a "heart" game card now).

not showing up
i followed instructions for this by installing mortscript then .net.
nothing showed up on home tab.
the softkeys phone(L) and menu(R) still remain from rom .
im using HTCSense2.5 Landscape|Rhodium_AF|WM65 23529 by ark on my att tilt 2.
so by using total commander i see that it is intalled and the config icon is in start menu and folder in windows.
but how do i make a softkey for this or shortcut or something?
help?
Did you reset ? By the way if you had the cab in the third post (NC for no color), pease do not install, because I forgot some blutooth files... I will upload corrected version later.
help
i soft reset after every step.
action screen works, but i had to find link via total commander.
only action screen config had link in start up menu.
i copied paste action screen link to start up menu via total commander but link was not pretty and i dont know how to change its icon.
also, neither the left or right soft key changed after installation as mentioned in my previous post.
any help is much appreciated.
could it be the rom i am using?
i used the color actionscreen cab
If you feel like to change the registry (take care, if you do some wrong change you could have to hard reset), you can go to HKLM/Software/HTC/Manila
then change HomeRSKPath to \Windows\ActionScreen\LauchAction.exe and HomeRSKText to Action. Afetr reset you should see "Action" on the right low corner of the Home tab of Manila. If it does not work I do not know, maybe you shopuld ask on your Rom thread...
thanks
thanks for your advice.
doing regedit is alil beyond me bcuz i am new to this.
i still appreciate your effort.
Here is the version I use now. I added text, and warnings for Power Off and Reset. Customized to my needs, you have to see explanations in the HD thread to customize it to yours.
Here is a customization tutorial : http://www.techparaiso.com/customiz...how-to-assign-it-as-power-button-application/
I do not use Photoshop, the freeware Paint.net does the basic work. The icons could be nicer, if you make or find some nice icons, please share the background and the icons so that we can use it!
Can you please work on setting the action screen to the power button of TP2 instead? thank you for your great work...

Sorry about this, but I uninstalled a number of times with no problem, just with Settings / System /Remove Programs... Did you try a reset ?
Close HTCActionScreen.exe manually.

Hi charlieb620
You need to close the Action Screen process manually using a task manager like dotfred's or schap's. You're looking for HTCActionScreen.exe.

when i try to overwrite or uninstall i get this message. i dont want to hard reset but i think i might. cause now my phone freezes when i go to my action screen. and yes i have mortscript and sdk installed. i cant do anything. i get that message. when i kill process i go back to try to uninstall and will just stay there iin programs list
I am wondering if it is not a problem with another version of action screen installed on the Energy ROM. Can you see another one in "remove program" ? Maybe this 18 button action screen is not compatible with the Energy Rom (I have a stock Rom).

Hi charlieb620
Try using Total Commander to rename the extension of HTCActionScreen.exe to .ext or something like that. If it let's you, restart the device and you should be in business.

Removing the bottom quickbar

CAn somone provide me witha cab link to remove the scrolling quickbar at the bottom? Many people say it cant be done cause it is part of sense, but I know it can. It just has to, there are so many tweaks for this phone that there should be a cab to get rid of the quickbar... Can somone provide me please? i have searched all ver this forum :/
not sure what you mean. you can make the slider retractable using cookies, home tab so its out of sight until you need it.......
or to get rid of it completely you might as well just turn off sense as you wont be able to reach any other tabs without the slider.......
uhhhh
I already have CHT with the rom i have on it, beautiful rom MIRI AND STEVE BTW, but i want a cab that will take out the quickbar I KNOW IT CAN BE DONE! yah i guess you can turn them all off therefor turning off sense but i dont want to turn off sense i just the quickbar gone !

Well yah , i know you can do that, and that's what I have mine set for but i would like the whole bar to be taken out and removed and i know there has to be a cab made for this : /
humm... ive never seen one.
i know ive removed it by accident by installing a cab that wasnt supported with my rom. good luck finding it.
btw, after you remove it, there will be a huge gap on the bottom of your screen =P

[Q]Disable the lock screen

Hey Developers,
I know you are going to hate me because of this question, i know the lock screen of the mini is one of the best lock screens.
If I want to disable the lock screen or If I want to get rid of it in anyway...
is there a way? registry change?
I was looking for an answer in forums and only found a quick registry edit for the HD2. The reg value not exist in the htc mini.
thanks in advance
jhon
oh...
i guess this is tough one
[SOLVED]
you need to make the same reg key in the hd2 into the htc mini.
means:
in HKCU\Control Panel\Keybd\
you need to make the DWORD key "DeviceLockWhenSuspend" and the value "0"
oh...and dont forget the restart!!
thats all, works like charm!
right now, no lock screen at all!
it'is useful.when I use other screen locking software, such as S2U2,both them work, which made me very mad.
also u can disable it with bsb tweaks
