WiFi works but 3G failed on Australia 32A - myTouch 3G, Magic General

The MAGIC with a SIM card that has 1 Gb data/mth.
couple of apps failed on me like tubeDroid, Market and Google Maps.. etc
then I found the phone no longer connects to 3G data.
Market return "A server error has occurred", Google Maps can't show any map and browser keep redirect me to the page of sign up Mobile Internet package (I beleieve it is a cache)
current ROM cm 4.2.12.2. I've spend hrs on this, keep trying with different SIMs, orginal ROM, earliar ROM till the lateast ROM , all return to the same situation.
But one silly thing is it all works fine with WiFi, Can I conclued is my 3G services? or something crasehed in my Phone?
Thanks

it is most probably just a settings issue. I had problems with a few versions of cyanogen where i couldn't access anything but 2g services and this also occurred with the gyd sense rom i'm running now. to fix i just confirmed all my wireless mobile settings were correct, went to select network and forced it to roam and then returned to auto and turned "2g only" on and then back off again and everything worked fine.
ps/ i'm also a three australia user...

have you checked your apn setting?

This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data se

Hello
Just switched from symbian to android and now I really want to get some apps installed to my phone.
When I click the market app, I need to sign in with my gmail account.
But when I try this it gives me the message.
"Can't establish a reliable data connection to the server.
This could be a temporary problem or your SIM card may not be provisioned for data services"
The part with temporary I don't believe and the SIM card part I know is wrong as I can surf the net, sync my exchange company mail etc.
I have tried with WIFI also, but same message coming.
Living in Norway, using Netcom as carrier.
Does anybody have any clue on how I can get past this and log into market?
Best regards
TommyE
Remove the sim. Wifi should still work. Tested here fine, when I had a Hero. This will not be a data provisioning issue.
I can also confirm this. I didn't initially have a Google account, and when I tried to create one via the handset I got the data provisioning error. I master reset the phone, created a Google account online with my PC, and set the Google login details in the initial setup of the phone. After this I had no problems.
Good luck.
ditto, I didn't set up android account when I went through initial setup, and it wouldn't work later. Had to factory reset and do it during initial setup (it was happy enough using my wifi for this)
same problem on HTC Magic =(
I have HTC Magic, i purchased it several days ago and it was working just fine. Then i found out that i can't replace the google account from previous owner and decided to hard-reset.
After that I'm getting this (I'm on T-mobile USA and I have just internet for 5.99):
"This could be a temporary problem or your sim card may not be provisioned for data services, if it continues, call customer care"
Called customer care, they said it won't work without 24.99 data plan, but it WAS working before! I tried changing APN from epc.tmobile.com to wap.voicestream.com but it didn't help =(
Phone is unlocked. Without signin in to google I can't even use phone features.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
I am having this issue now. I bought my Hero last week and set it up with my China Mobile SIM card. Then I decided to switch to China Unicom because they offer WCDMA 3G service. I am able to connect to CU data just fine but none of my Google apps will function. I can check gmail through the browser but not the internal application. This happens on Wifi as well.
I have done several factory resets with no luck. Any ideas?
after more than 12 hours my problem just went away. i don't know why. my guess is google has a mechanism in place to lock out accounts from more than one source or something. it's strange that i never had the problem with my G1 as often as i changed ROMs and when I changed SIM cards with it.

I've been having issues with getting signed into Google here in China as well. I had also just come back from vacation where I was using a different carrier.
I had been unsuccessful in getting a connection to the Google servers for the last 12+ hours. I have reflashed my ROM (actually three different ones) and reformated my SD card, all with no luck.
Just got to the office and connected successfully right away over our VPN wireless router, however I'm still having trouble getting Gmail to load all of my conevrsations.
So, my guess is the usual iffy Chinese connection.

it's very strange. I never had an issue with my G1 but hero has all kinds of connection issues whether on WiFi or 3G. I rarely get email notifications, this issue, and now I can't download ANYTHING from the market.

android market terms of service problem

Hello, i finally got my Hero. loaded a new ROM onto it and rooted it, but i´m having some trouble with the market app. whenever i try to open it it just says loading "android market terms of service" and stays there forever, the only choice is to wait longer og choose decline.
I´ve triyed both on wifi and gprs connection, and every other application on the phone can use both connections to browse and so on.just not android market..
Here is a little infor about the phone to help you figur my problem out.
ROM: update-hero-modacocustomrom-1.1-signed
Firmware version: 1.5
Baseband Version: 63.18.55.06U_6.35.04.25
Kernel version: 2.6.27-a550404199 [email protected] #521
Build number: 1.79.482.3 14733 CL#49365 release keys
Software version 1.0.0.A6288
Hope some kind soul is willing to help me out, thank you in advance.
I just put 1.1 on my Hero a few hours ago, and Market is still working fine for me. i did update the radio first though; you might want to try that.
otherwise, it could just be Market playing up, not at all unusual in my experience...
Updated the radio to this version, "update-hero-radio-63.18.55.06_6.35.05.15-signed" still no luck getting allowed to accept the terms of service, but i seems that the phone now has better signal strenght to the phone net.
After apoximitly 5 minutes i get a window instead of the loading screen where is says "Attention. An error has occured. Please try again later."
this sounds similar to teh connection errors that people are experiencing when they skip the sign in process during the initial set up. In general,m the only solution to that is to hard reset and sign in to google at the very first opportunity, during the set up screens and before you ever see the touchflo homescreen.
of course, it could just be a proxy in the APN settings.....
Year, i had that problem on the first time i changed the ROM, on that occasion i skipped the google account setup, and couldn´t use any program the used the internet.
But on this install i did do the sign in on first boot, and every program other that market that uses the internet or GPRS is working (weather, browser, mail, stock´s and so on)
Only thing that won´t start is the market tearms of service.
I had the exact same problem.
You need to contact your service provider and get the APN settings for your provider. After you have entered them in connect to marketplace over 3G and you should be fine.
My problem was caused by my phone company, Chess.no, shipping the unit with APN settings for Netcom! Obviously with a Chess sim inside the phone had some connectivity problems. Once the Chess APN settings were in I got connected straight away.
are you using wifi or 3g? I heard that market likes to make it's initial connection over 3G....
sadly i have a locked t-mobile G2 so i don't have any of these problems, i just sign in and it is automatically set up for me over 3G.
Arctic Matt was spot on, there was no APN profile in the phone, just made one with a name. after that it worked instantly.
Thanks alot.
Thanks for listening
I cannot believe that Scandinavian mobile providers, with their lazy ass coffee drinking cake eating lifestyle, have failed to notice this problem. If you look around on other forums (Google, Chess, Netcom) there are tons of people with this shortfall. I am so sick of this constant crap in Norway that I am moving my entire family over to Canada! In Norway, the technology is there and people want it but the companies providing it are infested by tech thick 50 year old management morons who are incapable of overseeing projects.
Just imagine if you were not a member of xda devs and have just got this phone as an average Joe. No apps! No help! ...and they wonder why people hack the phones to hell.
Glad I could help.
Sorry to dig up an old thread but I've got the exact same problem and have tried everything listed here. I had this issue on my LG Optimus One running Froyo, I flashed with a new ROM and still have the same problem.
I tried:
1. Master Reset through the phone (3 times!)
2. Entering APN and connecting via the mobile network before using WiFi (also tried WiFi first before using mobile network, no difference).
3. Signing in through the YouTube App and ensuring sync was on, yes that works, and I can see my Gmail, but still can't sign into the Market.
After (3), each time I try to open the Market I get " An error has occurred. Please try again later." and the Market just exits.
Anyone have any other solutions which might work??

Sometimes your provider will block your connection to market, until you verify that you are over 18 (as a child proofing method) etc.. (even on wifi, somehow)
at least that was a problem with someone I knew.. .. I assume master reset would clear market data and cache?

I don't think that's my issue, I've used my SIM as well as many other SIMs in other Android phones to access the market, it just seems to be an issue with this particular handset, oh well its weird!
Did you find a solution to your problem? I just flashed Android 2.2 to my HD2 and have a similar problem, only android market wont work.
Thanks!

Okay so i had to download an app called MoreLocale2 and force the locale to English(United States) and hard reset the phone. Worked fine after that. Hope it helps!
Android market just works here if google talks is enabled and connected...

Lost Data connection after HSPL and NRGY 23559

I have the 1024Leo on Tmobile USA and I decided to try a custom ROM last night. I've been doing this for a while on Android so I'm pretty comfortable with the methods and understand there may be a learning curve on WinMo.
I installed HSPL successfully and I installed the Cookie's Home Tab Energy 23559. Everything is good but I cannot access the browser nor get Weather Updates.
Browser gives me "Error! Network problem You tried to access the address http//en.wikipedia.org/, which is currently unavailable...." I've tried others but that's just an example Opera gives me.
The Weather app gives me the error "There was a connection error while attempting to download weather data. Retry?"
So I have full bars of signal and an H at the top. I got the errors last night at home (fell asleep and decided to deal with it today) and now at work. I'm sure it's just some place I have to put my tmo server name back in or something but I'm still new with this phone so I could use a quick point in the right direction.
I have checked that 3G is on and things like Airplane mode wasn't on or whatever. I have a feeling I lost the connection right after HSPL was installed as I think I got a data connection error before starting the Energy Rom install but just thought I was in a weak location of my home or whatever. I can't remember. I may be imagining that.
The only thing I haven't done is upgrade my Radio as I don't know where a file is for that. But I have 2.08 so I should be good right?
Thanks for the help!
Quick Update...
in Settings > Connections > Connection Setup it was empty. I chose United States and only AT&T was available. hmmm?
So I backed out and went into AutoData Config and it discovered and set up the internet. It went through the "Configuring Internet settings...." screen and then "The internet connection for your T-Mobile SIM card is ready to use. If you want to change the Internet connection for this SIM card, go to Settings > Connections."
So the internet now works and I think I'm good to go... how can I tell if I'm pulling T-Mobile 3G and not ATT?

data roaming fails

Hi,
I just came back from a 4 days trip to Rome, and I've not been able to connect to data even once.
Tests were done with all of the available operators in both 3g and 2g. I called my operator who confirmed I'm connected and that it's all open for data. Tried downloading weather, activesync, browser, emails, etc. I also tried to re-install the parameters, using the automatic HTC configuration.
Everything went again fine as soon as I landed back in my country.
What can be the problem? I'm really short of clue. I just regret not having tried a hard reset...
Thanks
Best guess is that you somehow had the wrong APN?
Could be, but:
-the apn I used was the one automatically installed by the Connection Setup' tool.
-the apn works fine in my country, and it is supposed to work the same in roaming.

Weired problem during data roaming - "Data Connectivity Problem"

Hi everybody,
since yesterday I have a weired problem:
i booked a data roaming plan of my provider (austrian) to get some emails and stuff during my stays in foreign countries (switzerland at the moment).
The first day, everything went fine. But: the day after (yesterday) i was suddenly unable to connect to my IMAP with k-9 (was working the first day). I also recognized that a connection to the google services (indication with green status bar - modification from Nexus) isn't possible as well.
Almost no app can connect, for example the browser reports:
Data Connectivity Problem
The server failed to communicate. Try Again Later.
Market is not working etc.
On the other hand, a few apps are able to get some data: E-Mail (with Exchange), a Provider app (showing used minutes and data and such things) still work.
Even though data is being used (as shown in the provider app), i can see, that there is some communication going on (with the arrows beside the connection type "H", "3G" and so on). So what the hell is going wrong?
Unfortunately I cannot test domestic data until next week - but WiFi is working flawless (status bar turns green, I can access all websites, E-Mails, etc.).
I am running out of ideas.
One last hint: I tested a few apps (3G Watchdog and Onava Light) and uninstalled them later on. But yesterday evening I did a backup and reinstalled JVQ - the issue was there even after initial firmware installation (JVQ).
Thank you for any help,
kind regards,
ww
P.S. can someone give me a hint, where I can find certain logs to maybe get an idea of the error: alogcat doesn't show me anything, there is no /dev/log directory...
my specs are below in the signature...
Ok, it seems that I narrowed it down.
It depends, with which provider the mobile roams. If it is the "preferred" provider here in Switzerland (sunrise), only the few mentioned apps are actually working - all others are still blocked (seems to be some kind of proxy or firewall or something like this, just guessing). Same result with another provider (Orange CH).
If I manually try another provider (Swisscom), it works with every app (at least with this one). Isn't this strange? Anyone experienced such a behaviour??? It seems, that all regular ports (80,...) are blocked, that's why I can't use k-9, browser and so on. Only a few ports (as exchange mail, whatsapp) seems to be open.
Kind regards,
ww
Similar problem
I have in the last few days experienced the very same problem. Roaming allows only e-mail, but not the browser. Any suggestion about what I can do?
It may depend from the provider's policy, I'm afraid. Only one choice is to disable auto network, and manually pick one by one, and to check.
I called my provider, they re-activated roaming again and after a few days it suddenly worked... still strange though...
Kind regards,
ww
