HTC HD2 vs. Nexus One - HD2 General

Has anyone able to compare these two phones yet? I currently have the older HTC HD and I now want to upgrade my phone either to the HTC HD2 or the Nexus One.
I don't know which one is better for me.
Outside using it as a phone, I like to use it to watch videos and use the GPS system. On my current HTC HD phone, I already have CorePlayer (latest version) and I am using Garmin as my 3rd party navigation system.
I also like to take good pictures and capture videos. The HTC HD is terrible in taking photos and capturing videos.

Please, search befor opening new threads.
Your answer is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=610117&highlight=hd2+nexus
The stuff you have on your HD should work on the HD2 as well. The HD2 has a slghtly better camera than the Nexus one (better software, better flash and picture quality seems to be a bit better). For GPS, nothing can beat Windows Mobile.

Two phones are same structure
only problem - HD2 comes with bigger screen and a very weak 1230mAh battery.

Taking photos using HD2 is freaking fast especially when compared to the Touch HD.
And HD2 can capture videos up to 640x480 pixels about 3 time higher in resolution than the Touch HD that is capable only at CIF.

HD2 .... or not to be?

Ok I have I Touch HD, on the whole I have been very impressed with my touch HD, apart from the poor camera when not in brght day light.
I'm am due an upgrade soon, I am certainly considering the HD2, but i need to know is the camera better than the previous HD?
I understand not all phone cameras are great, but my Nokia N95 shot fantastic video indoorsm and the sound was clear even in night clubs it didnt distort. I would love to get back to this quality again.
I'm conidering the new sony erricson and Nokias, but I'd much prefer to get HD2, window mobile and HTCs front ends are much better than others I have used.
If the HD2 isnt up to scratch does anyone know of any new windows mobile devices that have camera performance equal to the Nokia I spoke about?
Thanks

The Best Picture You Shot with HTC HD

I'm still under impressions about the HD and all its feat.s, but the most is from 5MPx camera, well done for phone. So please post your the best done picture ever by you HD!!!
Ehhh why not...first one is of the Washington monument here in DC,
The second one is of my almost 3 year old insisting she ride her tricycle uphill to her auntie's house on the left (yes, she knows where the house is...but is still struggling with that pedal/steer combo... give her a break, some of you still get left and right confused!)
Not bad, looks quite nice

Is this your first camera phone?
I mean some of my friends have been really embarrassed with the camera performance of our beloved HD, when trying to impress ladies with the "latest peace of the mobile technology" they haven't been able to accomplish such an easy task as shooting a decent picture, unless on a bright light. Most of the relatively old Nokias or Sony-Ericssons can do this.
I don't wanna even talk about the video recording
Best picture? Come on, we all know that htc have no idea about cameras.
Actually...I'm happy with the [outdoor] performance with this camera. I mean occasionally you'll get a jewel of (an indoor) picture...heck, sometimes with my 10meg camera I'll be disappointed...and yes, some pictures do come out somewhat discolored outside, but I just simply use a photo editing prigram to fix the colors and I'm all set. Remember, you bought:
1. A phone
2. Web browser
3. Digital assistant
4. Mp3 player
5. Camera...
not the other way around.
I have taken 3 pictures that i think is the best i can get out of my HD:
the first one of my mom's dog:
the second one the first flowers:
and the last one a pumpkin from halloween:
I've been this close to going back to a Sony Ericsson because of the camera... Only the video playback (still not as good as it should be) on the large screen keeps me happy
Here's my two cents
The black Sea
Countryside
Beach
River Terek
Although I'm not happy with the HD camera performance I use it occasionally as a back up camera. It's not really practical to carry around a DSLR all the time.

I made a test on My SE Xperia X1 (made by HTC and with HTC hardware camera) and I think that HTC's bad quality pictures is more software related than hardware related...
The rom I use has 2 camera application: the SE Xperia one and the HTC Rhodium one
Here is the picture taken with HTC app:
Here is the picture taken with the SE app:
>My wonder came after the shot done during my work, it was indoor and i shot a bottle, I think very good one picture;
>My mother owns SE K800, but I cannot compare pix, mine is better
>Anyways A+ to HTC for such camera (photo!), after Artemis's camera this one is earth and heaven.
Please continue attach quality pix by HD
pic is attached!
My abstract photo
This was taken through the windscreen of a van while moving.
The camera still's are not too bad on the HD but the video recording is utter junk, the original diamond take's far better video.
Here are my noob shots
...wish the car was mine though

HD2 Camara

Im currently running a touch Hd (blackstone) Now i want to update it to the HD2 leo
the info i need is did Htc update the camara in this phone.. as the current Hd (blackstone lense) quality is just dreadful and also lags in video mode.. !!
The camera isn't great. I reckon it's actually a little worse than on my Touch Pro. The flash is brighter and more useful in low light situations.....

I had a hd and the camera in the hd2 is 100 times better.there's a flash for starters, the camera is a lot quicker and much less lag in camcorder mode. I never used the camera in my hd because it was dreadful but have really enjoyed using it in the hd2
p.s. I have the Telstra version...not sure if that makes a difference anymore
Can't comment on the HD camera, as i have never used one.
I had the Tytn II before and the camera on the HD2 is a thousand times better.
I actually think it takes pretty damn good pictures for a phone.
It's the first phone that i am actually really using the camera.
Though I can't compare to the HD1, I have to agree that the camera on the HD2 is certainly usable from the playing around I've had it - more so in fact. The touch auto focus works well, flash is bright, it's very very fast (Jesus, taking pics on my Hermes whilst running other stuff...) and produces decent looking results.
Check the camera tweaking thread here at xda, where someone's found how to up the resolution further via some registry tweaks. There are lots of example pics in there for you to compare to what you'd get on your previous devices.

[Q] Video recorded by desire Z ?

Maybe this is not all too important, but I am very curious about the video quality this phone will record. One thing I have always sacrificed when buying htc (one of the first ones with qwerty, can't recall it's name, the tytn 2 and hero) is the picture and video quality. I am into htc and android for the android fun, not the multimedia, but this time I do not want to have a camera which shoots video and images poorer than a two year old Sony Ericsson or Nokia phone.
So, who is first one up to post, and how soon?
The Desire Z doesn't seem to be getting as much interest as the HD. I can find a video allegedly shot with the HD but nothing for the Z.
If this is anything to go by (and you have to assume that the HD would be the better quality of the two) I think we must resign ourselves to the fact that HTC are not at all hot in the camera / media department!
Shame ...

This is the reason my gadgets are an iPod touch 4G for media and HD recording, and browsing and phone is going to be a Desire HD

Wow! Why would you pay in excess of £450 for just a phone!? I know the Desire HD does more but if you use your iPod Touch 4g for all that it's essentially just a phone, right?

It is more to Qualcomm than to HTC, since the image quality depends largely on the image processing hardware of Qualcomm chip, and they are not so strong in that department (Samsung and iPhone are doing better there).

I am sure this is true to an extent but surely HTC could invest in better quality sensors and consider the likes of Carl Zeiss optics or similar? This would make a MASSIVE difference and would rely less heavily on post image processing algorithms to achieve passable picture quality.

Both the videos recorded from the HD and Z are only in 480p and that honestly does look poor.
I've seen some videos from the G2 in 720p that did look a lot sharper than this did.

true, but the g2 720p doesnt look no were near as good as to say galaxy s 720p also very blurry when moving the camera (from the videos ive seen from the g2)
does anyone know if this can be adjusted by software or is it just the hardware that is rubbish?
I actually just noticed the resolution my self. So stupid not to check the quality settings before starting to record.
i would love the desire z to have the quality audio/camera of galaxy s, im in two minds, buy this and put up with the rubbish audio quality/no so good camera or buy the galaxy s?
Have heard of people saying that the galaxy s isn't as good as htc, in terms of the senseui being really good... Also, do you want a hardware keyboard? Galaxy S doesn't have, and I know I wouldn't be able to live without the hardware keyboard...
Here is article on G2 camera:

BTW. If U looking for good camera quality go for iP4, Nokia or SE. HTC does ****ty plastic camera.
I did this one on BART in SF. I didn't move around or anything, just a quick video playing with the G2.

Iphone 4 vs Desire Hd in photo and video quality

I want to buy a telephone but the photo and video quality is very important for me. I watced IPHONE 4 video and EVO video in youtube. But I have seen that IPHONE is better than EVO. What about in Desire HD? video and photo please?

/\ thred on photo / video quality
What is the result? It means?
Humm
well no one really knows ... the iPhone 4 takes amazing pictures .... but as the HD isnt out and when the test shots where taken the HD wasnt on a final rom, its very hard to say.
Id go for the HD myself as the pictures will be very good no matter what (maybe not quite as good as the i4 maybe better), And the specs are soo much batter than the i4 (Bigger Screen, More RAM ect.)
And dont forget
Android > iOS

Just do what i did mate, i bought a iPod Touch 4G (for video, gaming, music, and HD Video capture), and i preordered a Desire HD(for GPS, internet browsing, E-Mail and google calendar.
And you have the best of both ecosystems
But Android still rules, apple has its uses
JD
And on that note...thread closed. Question need s to be address on the "Questions about DHD" thread
