Music Player - Nexus One General

Can anyone confirm whether Google updated the music player in Android 2.1 to support foreign characters i.e. Greek, French or Chinese?
Thanks

Russian doesnt seem to work and album art seemed to be messed up. I got ABBA album art on many non ABBA songs, in fact I only have 2 or 3 ABBA songs.

Колян, где покупал Н1 и как тебе он?)

The album art was screwed up in my Galaxy too. This isn't looking good
The stupid thing is if I try to edit the ID3 tags in Meridian in Android, I can see the Greek letters. Why won't the program show the title properly when the song is playing though?

Japanese has always worked so has Chinese =/

I have loaded a variety of .ogg files with detailed ID3 tags containing FR and ES characters (entered using Ctrl+Alt+nnn KB strokes). They display (and play) perfectly!

non-english support for SE multimedia panel

can anybody confirm if their multimedia panel can recognise non-english song titles?
All I'm getting is "???" for all the Chinese songs.
I can confirm ti's just multimedia panel because elsewhere (e.g. Windows Media player or File explorer) I can see the Chinese titles displayed correctly after I installed the Chinese font
me too, getting the same problem. Seems not related to fontlink problem since chinese displays perfectly anywhere else. Seems like this panel does not support chinese characters.
same problem here but i got the ce star for x1 version waitting for test.
i have installed ce-star and the problem still exists.
same thing here. it irks me as most of my song are in asian char
have contacted SE service and they confirmed asian localization is not currently support
:'(
other than that i like the media panel alot

exactly what i am doing... a lot better functionally.
I think it's the font file it used (MxpFont.mxf) does not support any language other than English. I rename msjh3.ttf (a Chinese font) as MxpFont.mxf and doesn't seem to work as well.
Opened MxpFont.mxf in a hex editor find "FONTLIB" in the beginning but could not found any info for this kind of font file on the web
the panel sucks
no chinese/japanese support
even no acvrp.....

any idea?
Just the video part is good ~
the audio part is very suck ~ not support UTF-8 and support MP3 format only ~
I play WAV instead MP3 all the time, therefore is audio is meaningless for me.

can you verify? I thought it would pick up WMA as well. I am assuming that because it picks up 2000 songs in my sd card, and I dont' remember I have that many in MP3 format.
Do do you really meant WAV? time to change to MP3 if that's the case.
anyway, I really like the media experience panel. I hope we can solve the native lang support problem. I found the e-reader package, but can't make out anything from it.
anybody found the fix for this? the hk thread doesn't seem to suggest any fix..
Any update?

[Fix Found!] Media Panel not displaying Chinese titles properly

Found the Media Panel CAB that was extracted out from a Traditional Chinese ROM. It will fix the display problem found in English ROM's media panel, where Chinese song titles are not shown properly (shown as "???"). Apparently, it also fix the album art problem!
I've uploaded to one of the shared ftp site, you can get it from here
http://www.zyzyx.de/xda/MxP_R19_MR1_RC2_32367_signed.CAB
have fun!
Thanks mate... does this show simplified characters too?

yes it does, I have some song titles in simplified chinese too, and they are shown properly w/o any problem.
my gripe now is that if the songs are wmv, it spawns off windows media player instead of using the built in player.
but the entire navigation experience, etc makes me feel the power of media panel, that when media panel is activated, it transform the device as a mp3/video gadget, instead of just a device that can play mp3 or mpeg video.

Any idea how to deal with this? My music library contains a large percentage of WMAs.

The navigation of the MXP is inconsistent when you swipe left/right and up/down.
Also, its flickscrolling mechanism is a unpolished.
One good thing I noticed though, wonder if it is a standard among WM phone, is that if you press the on/off button during playback on WMP or MXP, the screen turns off but the audio output remains.
Japanese also Supported
I installed it and it also shows japanese characters, cool upload thanks!
Is this from original tw rom?
yes it's can show simplified characters, but some of characters still missing but not “□”,only missing.
Not playing songs.
Now I can read it...
The music doesn't play tho..
Any idea why?

Chinese Song display in English Regional Setting

Hi there, i have a problem to display all my chinese mp3 song no matter in Windows Media Player or HTC Audio Manager in TF3D, i have CE-Star installed for my Chinese input, but it just won't work with the mp3 song display, can the experts help me out ?
I think, most likely the application that you are using to play MP3 files does not support Unicode UTF8 encoding.

Do you sync the music using WM Player? If you do, the song, artist and album info won't display correctly on your phone.
To correct this, you need to stop music sync (activesync or WMPlayer), and edit songs (on your storage card) with a mp3 tag editor (like mp3tag, a free pc software).
Hope this helps.

I9100 can't display the .m4a ID3

I 'm tested the m4a file at i9000 music player, than...it's can't display anything .m4a pic & Song iD, but can playing the music...
before ...i used the i9000 & LG 2X, it's all fine.
I9100 don't support the m4a ID?
I'd guess it's a bug as I've had the same issue. I store most of my music as FLAC on the PC and transcode it before sticking it on a mobile device. If it's an option for you it reads the tags from the ogg and mp3 files that I've tested files just fine. Foobar2000 will transcode your pretty much pain free, but I'd understand if you'd rather not go down that route.
Hopefully it will get fixed soon as I've got some music as m4a and I don't really want to use one lossy codec after another just to get the phone to read the tags.
Same problem here. The funny thing is that m4a files worked on my SGS on 2.3.3 (JVH).

exactly! it's weird.
Same here - the embedded album art is not shown and some tags were missing.
I've heard that KE7 doesn't fix this problem...

I prefer poweramp. Its not free but you can download a trail and see if it does the same thing.
I have not come across this yet I play all my music not just one band and use poweramp.
Sorry hasnt happened to me just the only thing I can suggest,

i've tried TuneWiki ...
the same issue
Maybe you have capitalized on more, as Viva la Vida-Viva La Vida
Sometimes it can be a problem with the music files itself and you really cannot do anything about it. Try downloading that one song again, editing its tags and then check. I hope it will solve your issue. It happened with me too before. Other options include trying different music players like PlayerPro, PowerAmp etc.
thank you guyz i will try
