Was made ware of this issue today in posts on other EVO 4G forums and was wondering if any XDA users noticed the problem. Searched to see if this was already posted here, but didn't come up with any threads.

Mines cracked going to the screen and not the battery.
How did this happen?!
lol @clockcycle, you're making the rounds aren't you?
after seeing your thread at sprintusers I stopped by a Sprint store near my house and showed them. They said they would definitely replace it... if they had any in stock...

I waited 30 days to get a replacement swap out for screen seperation. Now its out of that 30 days and RS says they can't do it now.
BS.
Why would they u had to hit it on something

Nope. I treat my phones probably better than just about anything. I've never dropped it or hit it on anything. That's evident by the complete absence of any scuffs or scratches anywhere else on the phone.
Also I didn't go in all pissed off or bothered, I just told him I found a defect and asked him his opinion about it
Got the same frikken issue. I had just made the decision to keep the phone today too. I can get a replacement but i am worried whether they'll fix the hole for rooting on the new unit.
Never dropped it. I do believe it could be from holding the power button combo when tryin to boot into recovery early in this EVO's life.
I noticed this awhile ago, i don't notice it unless i'm running my fingernail along it
DAMN IT! I just checked mine and there is a crack. I've NEVER dropped my phone either.
Weak sauce!
Crack free, going on 1 month
Yup, i have one also, but it doesnt bother me at all TBH
Nothing here, so far
I don't have one either, and I did drop my phone once. It was in a hard case, and it fell on carpet.
i don't have one.i think my invisible shield is helping hold it all together.
Sent from my PC36100 using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk one.
Yeah I have it on mine. My original store said they'd replace it but the one where I'm at now called it a cosmetic defect and they wouldn't do anything. I haven't even done anything to damage it.

Likewise, its very difficult to see but it does bring out my ocd just a little. I think I'll stop at the Sprint repair center tomorrow. If they want to replace it with a new one I'll probably let them
biggest problem i see with this is that if the other side cracks the we may well lose a power button.
DANG IT! Mine is, cracked up toward screen/speaker. That kind of sucks, but it is kind of invisible, too.
I'll call Sprint tomorrow and see if they'll believe that it happened on its own.
What's up with Sprint chat lately, anyway? It is always off line.
No crack, and dropped it on pavement a couple of weeks ago, no case.
Mine is cracked. Didn't even notice it though until I read this thread.
Came home today to find that I had received my G2 from the promotion they had last week and turns out this one has a different hinge than my first one.
No biggie, I never thought the first one had that big of an issue but nevertheless I made a video showing the 2 side by side.

holy sht...I wonder if i can get a replacement if im still under warranty hahah
So you do reckon they have actually resolved the issue now or have you just got one that is tighter than ur 1st one?
Looks like a change in materials!
I still don't see the fuss about the hinge though.
What fusses me more is that I've gone through 3 G2s and each of them had a pixel problem, be it stuck or dead. Had to use a microscopic-ish lens to find them. Lawl.
I am so jealous right now.

Don't be. People have mentioned that even over time, the hinge will get loose again (this is inevitable, all springs give way over time). So be content with what you have if you have a bug-free phone!

Was it a new upgrade or a replacement, when did you get the first one?
First of all, you may want to get yourself a nice camera that can do HD video recording.
Secondly, your second G2 with the tight hinges is exactly how my G2 was when I first got it. It was super tight, no give, and then after a week of use it become really loose but not quite as loose as your first one. Give it time, and I'm pretty confident that your new G2 will call the loose hinge flu. Let's hope not, though.
My G2 has an intermittent touch screen issue. T-Mobile says it's a known issue. This is unacceptable for me. Aný recommendations? Different model, brand ect. Thanks

Are you sure it's not this issue: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910624? This is a problem inherent with capacitive touchscreens (though some phones may be more susceptible than others depending on design and tolerances).
If not, you might want to try starting a new thread about it instead of trying to get help through one about the hinge (especially if it really is a known issue, others may be able to provide solutions).

No it doesn't, you just don't understand the nuances of capacitive touch sensors. YOU NEED TO COMPLETE THE CIRCUIT by having solid contact with the metal ring around the outside of the screen.
I've been playing with couple different dummy units at the stores
Like best buy and radio shack. They got no hinge problem at all. But really my wife got a g2 that has the problem but she doesn't say anything at all. me neither. I don't see why the problem would make me go have a replacement though. Unless theres something else. But so far so good

I actually just feel like it's a tighter hinge. If it goes loose or not, I don't know. But according to everyone here , it will loosen with time.

You know what, after playing around with it. It just made me realize how beat up my phone is compared to the one -_- Please disregard haha.
Reuploaded since I should have reviewed the video before uploading.
It's been 3 months of use and the hinge is as tight as it was on the first day. So I don't believe that it will become loss at least not during my duration of owning it.
Hey everyone, I know this is going to be a lengthy post but do please read on and feel free to post your thoughts.
Here's the story... I have had my Galaxy S II for 4 weeks now and every phone call I have made & received has been problematic. Everybody I spoke to was complaining about poor quality, an echo to be more specific, they reported their own voice was being echoed back but the call is always fine on my end. What this means is the call is almost impossible to hear for the other person and they end up calling me back on another phone, its driving me mad and it really is a big issue so I decided to get it exchanged with the company I got it from (Dial-A-Phone). I only arranged the exchange today so I have to wait 3 - 5 days for the bag to arrive to post it back in.
In the meantime I was looking online to see if anyone else had this problem and I can across a thread on AndroidForums (Can't post a link here because im a new user). So it looks like it's not just me its actually a lot of people and seems like it's most Galaxy S II's! Reading the posts on the thread its clear to see that the problem only exists when a case is on the phone and that is exactly what I have been finding (I have a CaseMate Gelli).
So this is now making me think exchanging it will be pointless as the new unit will most likely be exactly the same... I did some more looking around and was pretty shocked to find how many people have this issue. I simply searched Google for "Samsung Galaxy S2 call echo" and there are a lot of results, they are all the same issue just on different forums and posted by many different people.
So my options are as follows: Not use a case which I don't want to do because I want to protect this expensive phone, take it out of the case everytime I get a phone call but that is not practical in any way! people have also said to turn off Noise Reduction when a call connects but again I don't want to have to hit "Menu" > "NR" everytime I answer or place a call! Other people say that putting tape over the Noise Reduction mic and cutting bigger mic holes in the cases makes the problem better... But once again I should NOT have to do this! I should be able to use the phone with all functions normally with a case as protection, especially as this is one of the best phones of the year, costs about £500 and none of the other brands such as HTC have problems like this!
A friend of mine who also has this issue showed me an Amazon.co.uk case review entitled "The FACTS about the Galaxy S2 echo problem & the Case-Mate Tough Case" (Again; Can't post a link) but another person who has had the issue and Samsung even tried to cover it up by discontinuing their own case because it was uncovering a problem with their flagship phone.
Anyway that's probably enough on the subject but I just thought this needs to be brought to people's attention and I am also stuck on what to do, As I said I should not have to do any silly workarounds or not use a case, and exchanging it is 99% certain to be pointless... All I can think of is get the replacement phone brand new, don't open it and sell it on eBay brand new then buy a different phone like a Galaxy Nexus for example. But it does annoy me because I love the Galaxy S II, it's a great phone in every way, its just this that ruins it.
Finally, what do you guys think I should do?
Thanks for reading this and feel free to contribute, I just think this needs to be brought to light instead of just secluded in various forums, afterall, its a phone and if the phone calls are useless it's not going to be very good for many people.
You really should search the SGS2 threads before posting. This issue is old news and if you search you will find tweaks to solve the problem.
Edit: But if you reply you will get your post count up a bit
I never had this problem since i bought it, but it's a scary thought since i am doing a lot of calling with it.
I just talked to my G.F. she said my voice comes threw like butter, no problems on any end.
But i do use a plastic casing for my Sgs2, maybe the metal case that you use is the problem my friend, why not try the plastic one's?.
Can't speak for anyone else, but I've had absolutely no issues with call quality either on my end or the person I've been speaking to. None of my friends who have a SII have complained about it either.
Now it may seem like a lot of people are complaining on forums, but Samsung have reportedly sold 10 million units according to an article on Cnet in October. How many complaints have been made in comparison to that number? I doubt it will be as high as 0.1%. So to claim that it "seems like it's most Galaxy S II's!" is a bit over dramatic. Have you really seen about 8 million (that to me would roughly equate to most), different users on one forum? Keeping in mind that it probably the same people moaning on the different forums.
Personally I'd say go for the replacement, the SII is by far the best phone I've ever had. Yes like any electronics there's going to be issues, but I'd be willing to bet the call echo issue is for a small minority of handsets.
I use the samsung official case, vented back cover, not the best protection but i never mess with noise reduction, volume on my end is normally set half way (otherwise the whole world can hear both ends of my conversation) and it has worked perfectly fine, clear as crystal since day 1.
After getting a drink spilled on mine, and subsequently replacing the charge port PCB which also houses the microphone and speaker connectors, i can tell you that there are clear variations in hardware, although minor, still significant enough to potentially be a problem.
It may be totally unrelated but if you search general for "charge port problem" you can see the discussion on different hardware revisions.
Failing that, the easy test is to try this without your case on, also try lowering speaker volume during call and try even blocking the NR mix hole, if nothing fixes it, then its clearly a hw problem and so should really be replaced by Dial A Phone or Sammy.

Yep, i agree. Quite cleary most GS2s are faulty because some people have mentioned it on a forum. Nevermind the other 10 million people that havent. Lets generalise anyway
As mentionned, old news. Workaround posted on multiple threads. Alot of people just deactivated noise reduction in the dialer... Next caller please!

LOL! Yeah dude, I've been using the phone for 7 months now, no issues of this sort at all. Had a hard case, moved to a soft case a few months later (it was a gift) and all my calls have been fine
ajh94,
So you have eliminated the possible issues originated from the network operators?
No problem here, too.
Yeah I have the same problem but seem to have mostly fixed it.
I removed the rubber housing the microphone as it seemed to be blocking the hole and made the microphone hole larger by wedging a small screwdriver in it.
But I agree with some of the other posts, there are ship loads if threads on this topic. I have posted specifics of my fix on one of them.

Wasn't aware of this problem at all.
Had mine since May, been using a Casemate "Barely There" since September, no problems at all here.

not being funny but do you think everyone who owns phone looks at forums reports problems or even notice them. Example nice lady where i work thought her sII was perfect, I looked at it showed her pink spot and yellow tint on screen she hadent noticed and wasent that bothered tbh but point being it was there yes its wrong to generalise but arent you doing the same ?

So a nice lady showed you her new phone to you and your natural reaction was to show her "faults" with the phone that she hadn't even noticed?
Let's make sure we eliminate the network operator before creating such bold statements as "major issue". I know tons of people that own this phone at not any of them have reported this issue. Trust me, I'd here about it if there was one.

So is there a fix for this? Because my phone does the same thing when i receive and make calls. I know someone said to lower to noise.reduction on the dailer. But no clue where to find or how to do that. Thanks.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Solutions:
- Send it to the service center, they should replace the mic with a newer revision.
- Disable Noise Reduction. It's only available during a call and cannot be disabled permanently (Unless phone is rooted, see below), so you have to manually disable on each call.
- You can disable it permanently if your phone is rooted, by using VillianTweaks 1.3.1. There is a fix by LeoMar that supposedly work.
- Use a cover that doesn't cover the top and bottom sides. I've heard that the Case-Mate Barely There cases work, haven't tried it though.
Check this thread for more details.
I have the same problem and my phone is currently at the Samsung service center, though they seemed clueless about the problem so I'm not holding my breath.

Thats my point. Do you think of the 10million GS2s sold that they all have a "major fault" because of a few people mentioning it on a forum?
The vast majority of mobile phone users dont use forums to either report a fault or not to. Using a forum as proof of anything is ridiculous.
If there was a "major issue" do you not think it would be all over the news with 10million units sold? How many of the new nexus phones were sold before the volume bug was reported everywhere?
Hi pals. This is my first post in this forum and hope many will follow. I'll get straight to the point.
I've been away from XDA for quite some time and haven't followed HTC One forums. Today, I looked through few pages but couldn't actually find what I was looking for, a thread of all the defects of the phone. When I first bought HTC One X I did a thorough research on the phone and keeping everything in mind I went for the phone. I knew every single defect the early batches had so I got a right phone back then. The problem is, I don't really know what hardware defects are there in the early batches of the phones being shipped and I'm really in a mood to get one as soon as next week.
Further, the price of HTC One in my area is at $860 and it's something I can't comprehend. The price is $575 so with little alteration it should be around $600 max. One of my friends is in States these days and he'll be back next week. I'm gonna ask him to get One for me on his way back. I need to know are there any defects in the phone? I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO EXCHANGE OR CLAIM FOR WARRANTY ETC so I need something solid. The price of the phone is not going down soon here so I have to get it from the US through my friend. But I don't wanna end up with a defected phone. Please the users of HTC One and everybody else who knows write me here if there's something.
If you still are unable to understand what I mean then have a look HERE. This is what I want.

Ever heard that if you don't have anything positive to say, then don't say anything at all? The OP is only trying to help.
On mine OP, I have 1 dead pixel at the top left (not enough of an annoyance to swap the handset) I've noticed that where I've been pulling out the charger, the plastic seems to have raised up a bit and also when using for a while it gets pretty hot but I think this is just down to the metal casing.
Other things I've heard is the capacative buttons being unresponsive at times, a few camera issues that seem to have been sorted with an update and the gap issue mentioned above.
Other than that I can't say I've got any huge problems.

Almost no problems here, the bottom part of the volume button is ever so slightly raised higher than the top one. Although there is some game lag with games such as doodlejump, temple run, temple run 2, jetpack joyride. Overall this is the best gadget I've ever owned and I've owned lots

As far as the problems concerned,
tiny gap on top or bottom of the phone(about 15 - 20% of the phone)
Unresponsive back button(most of the handset)
dead pixel(5 - 10% of the phone)
Less than a day(12-14hrs) battery life(i think no problem after few cycles)
contrast of the screens are varying on different carriers(not big issue)
there is already one thread that is discussing these issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2247601
No gaps, the white plastic bezel around the phone is a good spot to check around, mine has what looks like a crack through it, and a few flaws. Pretty decent light bleed in the bottom right as well.
Comin guys this gap issue is way overblown.
After reading this forum about the gap issue, and the screen is not flush enough issue, I was scared to order one. But I did anyway, and my dev edition came in perfect condition.
If it weren't about reading people complaining about the gap issue, I wouldn't have noticed it or try to look for it. And when I did, I saw this mini tiny minuscule gap only on one corner, you can't see it with the naked eyes, you have to slide you finger in there in order to feel it. I was like noway I am returning the phone because of this.
I didn't even bother to download a pixel tester to see if there are any dead pixel, to my naked eyes I can't see any.
Enjoy the phone , I am sure you will not keep it for more than 2 years before another one comes out and you decide to upgrade.

I never noticed it before and kinda wish I was still ignorant about it. I did have to pull a small hair out of the gap the other day, but now my skinomi invisible shield covers the gap. I'm also having trouble with is the back and home button not responding all the time, but then I'll push it like 10 times in a row and it will always work. I think it's a software issue because it seems to only happen in certain menues. Has anyone else noticed that? If this continues to annoy me I'm going to have to switch to the s4.

Why do we need two threads about issues with the HTC One? We'll just attract trolls.
By the way, defect means fault that does not meet the original spec. All defective HTC One devices should get replaced under warranty.

I just cut holes in my screen protector and the response problem seems to be completely cured.
My opinion based off what I experienced with this issue is that the screen protector cut off some sensitivity plus touching the back or home button and part of the screen at the same time is what caused this problem.

Heeey guys so I wanted to see if anyone knows if they are selling the rear camera glass for the G6 yet? I dropped it ine and it shattered. I've looked everywhere online and no one seems to have it. Really not trying to pay $150 through insurance just for something that small.

Depending on what carrier you have you may be able to take it in and just get it repaired instead of paying a deductible. It'll be tough to find with the phone being so new.

I hadn't dropped mine and it somehow cracked as well. Multiple posts about this on reddit AND it was a major problem on the G5 and the V20
Incredibly frustrating as I am outside the 14 day Tmobile return window, and LG has terrible customer service....absolutely horrible. This is my last LG experience....I didn't have this issue with the Samsung S7 edge.
Shame on you #LG......shame.

Here's an idea. Don't put the phone in your pocket and sit on it for the entire duration of your flight and then blame LG for it.

Here's an idea, you have no idea what the frock you're talking about.
No one "sat on the phone"......it was in my left front pocket without pressure being applied to it. I've traveled weekly for the last 10 years with other phone brands....never had this problem. Here's another idea, ship a $700 phone with proper engineering.

FYI - I've had my G6 for 13 days, I went to T-Mobile today and they said it was out of warranty? They also said they couldn't return it because it was damaged. I'm trying to find a replacement for the protective cover that goes over both cameras and the flash. I successfully removed the cracked one after heating it up with a blow dryer, not hard at all but I put it back on until I can find the replacement part - If anyone knows where to get the lens cover please post.
Much Thanks - tat

Wow interesting....many thanks for the info.
I've been scouring the net for the replacement, but have been unsuccessful. Please let us know if you find it.

Hmmm I was thinking about the glass repair epoxy that is used to repair windshields....think it will work on this glass cover?

I will keep looking and let the forum know when I find one, since it's a new phone it may take a little while for replacement parts to start appearing. I'm not sure about the glass repair epoxy, since the replacement part shouldn't be more than $15 might be better to just wait. It's up to I guess -
Yeaaa if you find anything please let us know it sucks so bad having a brand new phone break like that
Sane here
I had the phone in my pocket... In a case with a screen protector and somehow managed to shatter the camera lens... Thinking about peeling it off and covering it with one of the clear skins that go over the screen. But cutting it to fit.. I'm worried about the broken glass getting in the camera.. This would be a temporary fix until the replacement partsare available.
Any news on locating a lens replacement?
Thanks.
Has ANYONE truly contacted LG about this? If this happens to me I'll make a nasty remark on every lg page possible. Twitter Facebook, wherever I'll be sure it's hard for them to ignore the fact. Fingers crossed that never happens to me.
It will come time to contact LG
Upon seeing so many cracked lenses, this seems to be more than an isolated issue. There seems to have been some very defective shipments lens covers that went out and LG needs to address these posts. I would suggest creating a petition or something of the sort to send over to LG after being signed off by multiple people experiencing this problem as well as concerned customers. I they do not take the issue seriously then it will be time to write to every media and news outlet possible to spread awareness on this issue until LG concedes and helps locate and fix this issue

I can't get an accurate representation of what percentage of the community is experiencing this issue as there are no accurate ways to poll every LG G6 owner and many of them do not have reddits or xda accounts so the polls would be inaugurate. From what i have seen though quite a few people ARE having issues and they say that they weren't being negligent and with so many saying the same, it would be beneficial to see why these issues are occurring. I will poll eventually if this issue continues to arise within these communities and if it gets to the point of being severe then i believe LG needs to be held accountable. Personally, i have a case and don't sling my phone around like a wet t-shirt thus mine hasn't broken but for those who have broken phones, this will be very good for them.

I can guarantee you LG isn't worried about news outlets picking up a story about a camera lens breaking. LG is much more worried about the profitable sectors of their business, including Home Appliance and Home Entertainment. The Mobile Communications sector was a top loser of money in the last 2 years.
Well, Googling leads back to this thread, a whole 16 or so posts... And a reddit post with a few people, possibly the same people posting here... Doesn't sound like an epidemic, at least not yet.
If it's a design flaw I would agree. Seems at best to be a Q/C issue or user error at this point.
Time will tell but hopefully this doesn't become a large, repeatable issue.

I think I'll do the same, blow up the LG Twitter page.
Contacted LG
So I called and talked to LG about this since my lens also cracked and nicely said how there is an increasing number of people that are having this same issue. The phone will be going back to them around Wed. I will see if they actually will do anything about it.
Just frustrating since I didn't drop the phone or have it pressed against anything. Funny that if it is physical damage how it is only the camera lens cover that is shattering.
