From another forum..this helped sync missing contacts.
With sync option to "Sync with existing contacts", go into the facebook application and select Friends. From there pick whatever friend you want to sync and press on the picture, NOT his/her name, and then press the contact icon. Hit the menu key and select Edit Contact, then hit the menu key again and select Join. Then from there, it should give you a suggested contact or your entire contact list to choose from. Hit Done.
note: This method is a little picky, and sometimes a friend's facebook name replaces the actual name you saved for him/her in your contact list. I'm picky about how I name my contacts in my phone so this gets very annoying. However, if the facebook name and contact name is almost the same, it should keep the original contact name intact.
Hope this helps!

I received a text message from my mates new number. The number isn't in my contacts so I want to create one. I click on the number and it says
"this number isn't in your contacts etc etc would you like to create a new one"
so I click yes, then the list of contact appear. I click new contact, and it asks me for outlook contact or sim contact.
I don't use outlook to sync my contacts, and SIM contact doesn't give me all the information (SIM is just a name and number).
so how do I select to save the number to my phone, where I can add all the other relevant information (ringtone, phone number type etc etc)?
thanks
You should save as an Outlook contact, as Pocket Outlook is the default adress register on Windows Mobile devices.
It doesn't matter if you use Outlook on your PC or not...
perhaps but the options presented to me are the same...well..almost...firname last name number....why doesn't it give me the option to supply any other details? ?I have to save it, then go back into it to add any other information.
just annoying is all
why don't u just go to contacts, click on the profile u want to update and when they're details come up, click on menu > edit.
this should take you to a full list of details
because I'm talking about adding a new contact, not updating an existing one
I've started using Hero [T-Mobile G2 Touch] just today and I really liked it...apart from one thing. The contacts in Peoples app are a big mess. It has so many contacts from gmail, mail, facebook, and sim [basically everything it could get its hands on]. Same contact is appearing multiple times due to that. Though I didn't like it, and would only have preferred the contacts with phone nums to appear in it, but I guess that'll just be me. So for the first step I'd like to know if there's a way I'm able to hide the sim contacts from appearing in the list?
I wasn't able to find anything via google. I could only find ways to import contacts from sim, and copy a contact to sim, but not to hide it
I obviously won't like to delete all the contacts from my sim.

Hi faisaliqbal,
There is a way to filter the contacts so that you don't see all of the duplicates.
To do it, go to your contact list, select the 'Menu' button then choose the view option.
You'll see the list of contact sources i.e. google, exchange, phone, sim etc. Simply deselect the ones you don't want to see in your contacts list.
I use Exchange Activesync for my contacts so I've disabled google etc and no longer see any duplicates when viewing my contact list.
There is also an option to display contacts from say the phone, sim etc only if duplicates are found.
Hope this helps
In the People app, from the "All" screen, press "Menu" and select "View".
From there you can choose with sources you can see contacts from (Google, Phone, SIM), and you can even decide which source to use for duplicates.
In addition, if you don't want to see all the people you've ever had email correspondence with in Gmail, go to "Groups" and press "Menu" and select "Sync groups". You should deselect "Sync all contacts".
Regards,
Dave
EDIT: I'm not trying to duplicate what thecastleford kid said - when I started writing my response, he hadn't posted his!

I'll have to try that if it happens to me again... I ended up just doing a factory reset to get them back.

Can you specify what contacts to sync with in Facebook? Or at least sync only contacts on specific groups that I made in Facebook?
The only solution I know is to make a duplicate make a new conatct of the same person or edit one if you already have it as a google contact then in your contacts press and hold the name of the contact and join them. Although I have some contacts that keep nicknames and some dont but at least theres a way to get numbers and other info to a fb contact.

I've tried that before, and when I go to join, my contact wasn't there for me to choose them.
Press and hold the contact- choose edit- and press the second soft key from left- then join and if you dont see the contact choose show all contacts and join that way. If the contact is not there im not sure.
yeah i've noticed since syncing my fb friends my contacts have been all screwy.

This is my case to...
The FB contact is not there when i try to join a phone/google contact with a FB contact
Hmm, so I just tried to delete a contact - (it was actually a contact I added via the barcode scanner - [email protected] in this forum);
Long pressed the contact, chose 'delete contact', answered yes to the question... and hmm... the contact is still there...
Is that a known bug?
Ok, just FYI - yes, there is a bug in the contacts - if your contact doesn't have a first/last name, but has an email - the contact will be named after his email in the contacts list;
When a contact is named after his email, you cannot delete it at all (you'll be able to try, but it just wont be deleted, no matter where you try it from).
To fix that, just give a name, any name, to that contact, and delete it.
I've had strange things like this happen where I delete a person's secondary email or address, and it comes right back.
Same goes for changing a "type" such as Phone (home/work/mobile/other/custom). It doesn't seem to stick and reverts back to the original title.
I think you need to delete the contact from your sim card first, then log on to google and erase it from there, then let the phone sync and goodbye contact.
bwahaahahhaahahahahahawhahahahaa
You could try deleteing it from Google Contacts instead?
I cant seem to save a new contact, no matter which way i save it either by adding contacts from a new phone call or entering a new contact, when I first save it, all the previous call numbers from that contact change to the contacts name then within a few minutes it reverts back again and if i search for the new contact it has disappeared.
any help would be appreciated.
Im using the generic contact address book
Did you have the right sync groups selected? when creating a contact you can assign the contact to group. If this group is not synced this will not shown as a new contact on your phone. When the contact is not assigned to group you must select "sync all contacts". this will include also your mail-contacts from google.
