Editing facebook contacts - Nexus One General

Why cant we edit facebook contacts, its really annoying. Like if i want to add a phone number to a contact that happens to be tied to facebook its really annoying u cant edit it.
Also I accidentally deleted a contact that was from facebook and cannot get it back in my contacts list, anyone know how to get it back in my contacts list and linked to facebook?

you can try opening facebook.. click menu.. sync options and select none. wait a little bit .. do select all or that other option and should be back!

I'll have to try that if it happens to me again... I ended up just doing a factory reset to get them back.

Why cant we edit the facebook contacts, this is really annoying!!!

Can you specify what contacts to sync with in Facebook? Or at least sync only contacts on specific groups that I made in Facebook?

The only solution I know is to make a duplicate make a new conatct of the same person or edit one if you already have it as a google contact then in your contacts press and hold the name of the contact and join them. Although I have some contacts that keep nicknames and some dont but at least theres a way to get numbers and other info to a fb contact.

I've tried that before, and when I go to join, my contact wasn't there for me to choose them.

Press and hold the contact- choose edit- and press the second soft key from left- then join and if you dont see the contact choose show all contacts and join that way. If the contact is not there im not sure.

yeah i've noticed since syncing my fb friends my contacts have been all screwy.

Hiding Sim Contacts in Peoples App

I've started using Hero [T-Mobile G2 Touch] just today and I really liked it...apart from one thing. The contacts in Peoples app are a big mess. It has so many contacts from gmail, mail, facebook, and sim [basically everything it could get its hands on]. Same contact is appearing multiple times due to that. Though I didn't like it, and would only have preferred the contacts with phone nums to appear in it, but I guess that'll just be me. So for the first step I'd like to know if there's a way I'm able to hide the sim contacts from appearing in the list?
I wasn't able to find anything via google. I could only find ways to import contacts from sim, and copy a contact to sim, but not to hide it
I obviously won't like to delete all the contacts from my sim.

Hi faisaliqbal,
There is a way to filter the contacts so that you don't see all of the duplicates.
To do it, go to your contact list, select the 'Menu' button then choose the view option.
You'll see the list of contact sources i.e. google, exchange, phone, sim etc. Simply deselect the ones you don't want to see in your contacts list.
I use Exchange Activesync for my contacts so I've disabled google etc and no longer see any duplicates when viewing my contact list.
There is also an option to display contacts from say the phone, sim etc only if duplicates are found.
Hope this helps
In the People app, from the "All" screen, press "Menu" and select "View".
From there you can choose with sources you can see contacts from (Google, Phone, SIM), and you can even decide which source to use for duplicates.
In addition, if you don't want to see all the people you've ever had email correspondence with in Gmail, go to "Groups" and press "Menu" and select "Sync groups". You should deselect "Sync all contacts".
Regards,
Dave
EDIT: I'm not trying to duplicate what thecastleford kid said - when I started writing my response, he hadn't posted his!

For those having Facebook Sync issues.

From another forum..this helped sync missing contacts.
With sync option to "Sync with existing contacts", go into the facebook application and select Friends. From there pick whatever friend you want to sync and press on the picture, NOT his/her name, and then press the contact icon. Hit the menu key and select Edit Contact, then hit the menu key again and select Join. Then from there, it should give you a suggested contact or your entire contact list to choose from. Hit Done.
note: This method is a little picky, and sometimes a friend's facebook name replaces the actual name you saved for him/her in your contact list. I'm picky about how I name my contacts in my phone so this gets very annoying. However, if the facebook name and contact name is almost the same, it should keep the original contact name intact.
Hope this helps!

Problem with Facebook Sync

Is anyone else having problems with the facebook app not syncing all the contacts. I set it up and only about 3 facebook contacts synced and I'm sure I have more friends then that, lol. Is there a way to manually link a contact to a facebook profile?
There is a setting that will only import certain contacts. You can set it up to import ALL contacts instead.
And yes, you can join Google contacts to Facebook contacts. Just open either one up, press the menu button on the bottom and use the "join" option.
Unfortunately this screws around with names. Youre forced to have first and last names.
Cant have "Uncle Jim" or "Mom".
There's no way to force the Gmail contact to be dominant?

In that case you have to remove the add book link to facebook. If not it will always display the email add from facebook is automatically displayed.

But if i do that wont that also remove the facebook mobile phone numbers too? ...
I didnt really wanna do that. I just wanted away with the email addresses in my contact list!
I'm not on the stock ROM anymore but I seem to remember there being a "Display only contacts with phone numbers" option somewhere. Just have a play around in the settings and I'm sure you'll find it.
For only show numbers in 2.1 Android:
Load people, hit menu, thenview.
As for what you are asking, I've yet to see anything.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire.

Facebook contact sync help

On my nexus one if u got some one full name as shown exactly as spelled on facebook and u sync contacts it ends up showing pics but on here it did few people and not all? i did it twice removed the account and resynced what could be the issue and in "view" its not checked for facebook for mytouch cause then i have duplicate contacts and ppl i really dont want anywya to link them or something?
It depends on what rom your using, but I'm gonna assume your stock everything. There's a way to sync every contact individually. I believe it goes like those contacts>contact u want to sync> menu button> edit contact> menu button >join or sync. Then you should be able to choose from ur Facebook list.
