Screen lock unusable?

With all that screen to touch, having this thing wake up in your pocket (or holster in my case) it bad - it registers keypresses all over the place, and so far it's deleted appointments and other fun stuff for me.
There is the screen lock (hold down right-most softkey a few seconds) but for me at least if an alert wakes the phone, the screen activates and looks normal, but all hardkeys are disabled. Can't even shut the phone down, have to hit the soft reset button, so conveniently located under the battery cover (argh, talk about dumb design choices...)
So anyone have any ideas on the screen lock? I'd even be willing to dedicate the left-most soft-key long-press to a third party lock, as long as it works properly.
u can use s2u2 IPHONE like screen lock
Hold the hang up button to lock, to unlock press the word unlock and a screen will apear saying To unlock device Tap unlock.
Yeah I did that, the hold hang up button thing... that's what's partly unlocking itself, which is a pain to say the least.
Gonna try Throttlelock. Haven't found any really Manila-lookalike skin yet but it seems to do what I want - lock the device - and even adds a little security.
And what about just clicking once on the power button after locking the device using the hold hang up thing?
Doesn't it does what you need? Press again to wake up the mobile?

No, what happen is: I hold down end call to get the device to lock. Then I tap the power button to close down the screen too.
However, a reminder kicks in and that brings the screen back online AND live, so touching it can do stuff. But, the device is still somehow "locked"... except the only thing that is well and truly locked are all the buttons. Power button, volume buttons, even the softkeys on the front, none of them do anything, but the screen works only too well.
There is now way I found to recover from that state except a soft reset. That boots the device - in locked mode, so I have to hit Unlock and then tap the button on the middle of the screen.
I need a lock that is lock, ie it doesn't activate the screen or buttons no matter what, until I unlock it myself. Looks like Throttlelock may be the answer though.

Hero keeps unlocking in pocket

And its doing my head in!!!
how can i resolve this ???
That propably happens because the phone can be unlocked by pressing the menu button twice (you don't have to slide the screen).
Maybe it helps if you set up screen unlock patterns in security settings.

How to unlock your 6800 without the touchscreen?

Hi,
Got a problem, i dropped my phone and the bottom of the screen cracked. Now the phone is locked and because i can't use the touch screen , can't unlock it! anyway to get around this without reflashing?
Thanks
I guess some software can do this, dont rem names
like power control software?
Yes. Learned it the hard way! , instead of using the remote control , i did a hard reset , that got rid of the lock screen but now the dreaded screen calibration is where i got stuck on! But i guess i'm not the only one. One problem with the remote control software is that it doesn't react to screen calibration , so you have to delete welcome.lnk or welcome.exe from the windows/startup folder and that cleared it up.
Keyboard solution
I had this same problem when I cracked my screen on my xv6800.
The solution I used to unlock the phone is to:
1. flip open the keyboard
2. push the dash action button above the letter Q
3. push the button with the blue circle (character switch button?) next to the windows button.
4. push the letter V
Basically to unlock the phone tap unlock on the screen or if you screen is cracked hit the * button on the key board.
I hope this helps someone.

Home Button Issue (fixed)

I just got the Nexus S today. I've played around with it and love it so far, but I have one problem: when I press my Home button in an app, it doesn't throw me back to the home screen. It vibrates when I touch it (so it responds), but other than that it doesn't do anything. Also, my screen wouldn't lock or show the unlock slider (after waking up). It would just turn on to a home screen, even after setting a PIN lock.
Ok, so before I posted this message I decided to restart the phone. Home button now works, screen locks beautifully. Glad I don't have to go get a new one! Posting this still in case others have the same problem.
TLDR: Home button didn't work, screen didn't lock even with Pin. Solution: restart your phone.

[Q] Screen Lock

i have a herald and installed tribshell and i like it so much.. but i think phone lock is alittle bit long. i mean i have to first hit start button, then left softkey (or lock icon on the screen). its locked. and to turn off screen,i hit power button..
its 3 hit for locking..
cant we decrease it to 1, only power button.. i mean hitting power button locks phone.. like S2U2.. is it possible??
anyone???????
I have a TouchPro2, and it worked much the same way. There is a program out there that allows for turning off the screen to automatically lock the phone. Works great for me. I'm not sure if it will work on your device, but I'll see if I can dig up the thread I found it in.
EDIT: Here's the thread here I got it:

Again, this is for a TouchPro2, so I dunno if it'll work on your device, but it might be worth a try.
i will try it.. thnx
