Increase playback codecs - HD2 General

Has anyone managed to find some more codecs for the hd2 / winmo6.5 setup? I love the intergrated / touch ui and would really prefer to keep this solution with the extra codecs (rather than install stand alone 3rd party software).
Thanks

anyone? surely I'm not the only 1 with this issue?

Not possible. This is why apps like Coreplayer exist.

Thanks, in that case what media players are people using that work nicely on the hd2? I want ot be able to play all the "usual" codec movie files but have never found the divx player very good.
Thanks

Post above already answered.
Coreplayer plays everything and then some...

Media Player on TD2

Hi.
I have a HTC Touch Diamond 2 and it can't play .avi video by default
I tried TCPMP but it doesn't work.
Do you have a other software or plug-in for manila to play .avi ?
Thanks!
There's so much on this forum already on the subject...
Buy Coreplayer, you won't regret it, it'll fulfil all your video needs. Bear in mind you won't always be able to play full resolution / bitrate videos successfully, some will need to be downsized. Again, there's loads of threads on the topic.
I use CorePlayer works full-wide-screen 800x480 without troubles.
try core player. its good!
Thanks!
Sorry this subject, which already exists.

Android Media Players

Does anyone know if the addition of several media players to the list of devices that use android will enable us to get some more codecs onto the G1? Or does it not matter because all of this stuff will be done in hardware?
What codecs do you want? Cyans 2.9.3 supports FLAC
Yes, what codecs you are looking for would be helpful,
on that thought, anyone want to port gstreamer? xD
I'd love to see a VLC media player for Android. Supports almost ALL codecs..
hey all...I would gladly pay someone to port any media player that would support .asf .avi .wmv....is it possible??....why can the media players that are already here support wma and not wmv....what's the big deal??...Please let me know....Phil...Thanks..
TCPMP would be great on android

I have that on my HX4700 with WM6 and it is awesome. Of course WM6 had more codecs for it. The player was smooth on older hardware and better 4" VGA screen.
I'd definitely love to see it for Android along with more codec support.
i just switched from WM5 to G1
and the first thing i found was all the media players suck
the G1 supports OGG natively yet none of the players will
play a OGG stream
i have a dozen media apps on my G1 and not one of them
works any where near like i want.
i miss TCPMP !!!
i have the android sdk and a emulator running
so off i go into java programming

Xvid / DivX etc video playback

Hi all,
Looking to use a HD2 to watch xvids / divx's while on the train. Realise this will (most probably) kill the battery etc. but in some situations (when there's a power source at destination!) it seems a good way to kill time to me.
Any recommendations on the best player for such? Previously I've heard good things about Coreplayer.. although it seems not to be so good on this platform? Alternatives?
Thanks in advance.
Basically, if you want support for as many formats as possible, Coreplayer and TCPMP are the way to go. Coreplayer pefroms fine on HD2, even without supporting the graphics card capabilities, merely because of the powerful processor. About the only real-life limitation I've encountered with it is lack of AC3 sound support. For AC3 you can use TCPMP. Its UI is ugly as hell (in fact it's so ugly that I personally prefer not to watch movies with AC3 sound at all) but it does the job.
if you go for coreplayer be sure to set it to GDI and smooth zoom in video settings to get the best possible result
strange one that because i would recommend raw frame buffer!
probably depends on what media you're using?
Both settings will work.... but that also depends on your content. Best practice for the HD2 (and in general) is to do benchmarks on that content with each video output setting (GDI Vs. Raw Framebuffer) to see what works best.
Just an extra footnote, I'd recommend searching for TCPMP version 0.71, as the later v0.72 (both RC versions) wouldn't even run for me!
I use TCPMP to watch films on train journeys, and can get a couple of films watched and use about 60% of the battery. So yeah, it's a drain, but not too bad.

Divx Player Mobile

Hopefully this thread will work and not trying to hijack.... I've tried the included WMP and CorePlayer and cannot for the life of me get any video to playback on my HD2. I've tried stock xvid, wmv, etc. The closest i've come is sound but no video. What's the trick????
In CorePlayer, go to Menu - Tools - Preferences - Select Page - Video. Change Video output to GDI, Raw Framebuffer or DirectDraw (I'm not sure which setting will yield best results, but you need to disable Qtv, it doesn't work).
1.48 ROM?
Thanks for all the above advice!
I had Coreplayer working fine, playing two Xvids I had on the storage card well with either settings.
I've now upgraded to the 1.48 ROM however playback now seems to be stuttering badly (same two files). Might be just one of those things as I've messed around a little with install apps etc, so need to do a hard reset this evening and give it another try, however yup just want someone else to confirm this by saying they are having good success with playback via Coreplayer on 1.48 ROM..?
Cheers.

Re. the above - are these the only 'optimum' settings I need to go for? (withstanding the debate over GDI vs. raw etc). For smooth zoom should this be On or 50%? Anything else?

I want to know which software can play avi. on HD2??

i want to know which software can play avi.on HD2???Help~
Coreplayer and tcpmp.
There are numerous threads about them. Maybe you should search before asking.
AVI is just a container which can contain any kinds of codecs, so it's possible that even coreplayer or tcpmp are not able to play AVI-files.
Yes, its a matter of codecs. Most codecs are provided with the apps i mentioned but you should be aware that some files might not work.
Video Player that works!
I tried 5 or 6 different video player and finally found one! QQPLayer works!

Problems preparing videos for my HD2

I've read that the most efficient player on the HD2 is the Windows Media Player Mobile, despite the fact that other applications support more video types and whatnots...
If I understood correctly, it's because the WMP uses some sort of hardware acceleration.
(If I'm wrong in any of this, please correct me!)
With this in mind, I wanted to prepare a few videos for my HD2 with the following tools at my disposal:
- Camtasia
- FFDShow
- Anything that's free
So far I was trying out Camtasia with FFDshows encoder, making XVID, DIVX or H.264... almost all of these rendered fine (with the exception of the H.264, which for some reason was not in synch with the audio), and could be played on my computer... however, after copying the files over to my HD2, WMP couldn't play any of them.
So... what can I do to make nice quality video files playable on my HD2?
Try this ...

Just be sure to set the resolution for the HD2

Also, Shaamaan, try coreplayer as it plays the best...

I beg to differ on that ....
It plays More but not better as coreplayer does not yet support hardware acceleration on the HD2, the built in player does ...
Personally I wish they would fix coreplayer, it is a very nice player ...
Also coreplayer is a retail app, so the link you posted is technically Warez, which are not allowed ...
Thanks for the link, watcher64!
EDIT: Albeit I tried it, and the audio was out of synch...
If I may ask a stupid question... what format IS supported by that WMP anyway? I mean, I assumed that at least ONE format generated by the FFDshow codec would work... while all of them failed.
MPEG4 / MP4 I know they work for sure. all the BRrips go str8 in to my TMOUS HTC HD2. not on my laptop now but I saw/have a SD/HD movie converter for this phone will upload for you asap.
Try XMedia Recode
It has a setting for HD2 use, and to be honest, I've copied a couple of Blu-Rays using this, and it is flawless within the HTC Video/Picture tab...
+1 for XMedia Recode. Easiest tool so far.
XMedia-Recode is better then the one I use...time to switch THX
The best player on my HD 2 I ever had, playing almost all formats smooth and brilliant is this one:
