Hey Guys,
I'm running MightyROM6 (and loving it, thanks Mike) but as soon as I flashed it, I was missing the weather tab. I'm always looking at the weather for work, so I started searching for a weather tab.
I found Showaco TitaniumWeather 4.2 and read about them and installed. I read the reports from many people that they get nothing but the red icons....I do too.
Here is the process that I've done:
Download Cab.
Disable 'Windows Default' in the items tab of the system settings.
Install Cab.
Soft Reset.
Enable Windows Default.
It wasnt working so I did some more searching and found out about the mortscript deal, so I put the new mortscript file in the program files/titanium weather folder and it worked...sort of
Now I can have my current weather, and my weekly forecast but I still have the red X icons. Also, I dont know how to get the Radar to work. Additionally, when I click the widget, there is an error message.
I'm going to go through the whole process and repost all of the error messages I'm getting...
Thanks for reviewing this.
Mitch
message 1
immediately upon soft reset: ".mscr and .mortrun extensions registered. Please run any .mscr/.mortrun file or read the manual."
*my response to this is to overwrite the .mscr file called TitaniumWeather.mscr, then soft reset again.
**i still have the message
message 2
"setup needed" this is the first thing I see in the tab.
*my response is to click menu>enter my zip for the city, enable auto updates, choose my icons from the icon pack i downloaded, click save/exit>full update
and gull durn it I have my icons after like eight times of trying this...
BUT
message 3 (when selecting the radar)
"An error occurred on sub_main_nextimage_click. Value does not fall within the expected range. Continue? (I click yes)
*Now I'm going to press and hold on the radar 'map' (which is just a grey screen) until I get to edit the url. WHAT URL DO I USE! weird...
message 4
on clicking zoom out, a dialogue box flashed like eight times and then: "An error occurred on sub_main_zoomcontrol. StackOverflowException Continue?" (I'm going to assume that this is because I tried to zoom out of a map that doesnt exist)
message 5
on clicking the msn weather widget: "Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename." I'm assuming this is because I need to enter another URL somewhere?

Recently got my hands on an XDA2, so you could say I am a newcomer to the world of the pocket pc.
One little gripe that I am hoping to sort out is the lack of notification when I have a missed call.
All that shows up is a small handset icon in the top navbar. Whereas all my other alerts display a speech bubble on the screen.
I have tried selecting 'display message on screen' from the notifications settings, but this doesn't change anything.
If anyone has any ideas how I can sort this out I would be grateful
Cheers.
try using MY|PHONE 1.4 plugin ... it's freeware
If you tap the missed call icon, it's supposed to display a notification bubble telling you how many calls you've missed. The bubble also shows a button that will open the Call History window where you can see your missed calls.
Thanks for your responses, i'm trying out Myphone now, I'll see how that goes, then consider hudsonmobile.
Cheers
If you go into Settings, Notifications and Alerts I think it is, you can alter the behaviour of the diodes on the top to notify you of many things.
Doing this, you don't even need look at the screen etc to see if 'something has happened' such as a missed call, sms etc.
I've downloaded and installed myphone 1.4, but after installation nothing shows up on the programs or settings tab. And when I check the install directory through file explorer, there are no files in the myphone directory.
I am presuming that I have downloaded a duff file. Can anyone point me in the direction of download sites for this.
Cheers

I don't think so. I never used that software myself (which means I'm just guessing here), but iirc MyPhone is just a Today Screen plugin. This means, go to Start -> Settings -> Today-> Elements, and check that it's listed there and has a check mark next to it.
Note that the OS has a limit on the number of Today Screen plugins it will display simultaneously. So, if you installed too many, some will simply not be displayed on your Today Screen.
Cheers

got it, cheers daniel.
located - start> settings> today> items>
Checked the MYPHONE box and it's on my today screen now.
Once on the today screen, it is possible to tap and hold for additional settings.
Thanks for your reply.
I built a Today plugin (with a little help from folks on this forum) originally for WM5 devices (you can see it here). Everything works great.
Based on user requests, I re-targeted it to work on PPC 2003 SE devices also. Here's the problem: Now, the Options window won't open until the plugin is actually loaded. In other words:
1. After a fresh install, go to Today settings, highlight plugin, click options - nothing happens.
2. Check plugin, close Today settings, re-open Today settings - Options now work.
Any thoughts an why it behaves like this? I've compared the two versions ad nauseam, tweaked this and that to no avail. (this was built using VS 2005)
The options + the today item code are in the same dll and it dose not get loaded until after the items window is dismissed. This is normal behaviour and there is not much you can do about it. If you watch the task bar you will notice a flicker at this exact time (ie closing items window). I think a system-wide message is sent at that time to indicate a setting change. Find that message and you may have something to work with but there is no garantee that your item will get loaded even if you send that message during the installation.

Hey - thanks for the help! Similar to your suggestion, I implemented a post-installation step (another first for me) that executes SendMessage(HWND_BROADCAST, WM_WININICHANGE, 0xF2, 0); This refreshes the Today screen, causing my plugin to load immediately.
Perhaps version 1 always did this and I just didn't notice...
I'm hoping to get a bit of advice, I'm new to ROM cooking but after a couple days I'm nearly there. Please see the list of issues and have a look if you know the solution to any of them. Many thanks, Andrew

prob: no longer asks for screen calibration on install.
fix: Do manually via Settings > Screen until I find a fix.
prob: after installed you'll get a white screen saying "please wait".
fix: Hit one of the top icons and it'll go away.
note: I'm looking for a fix without enabling HTC's RunCC.
prob: clicking the battery icon doesn't do anything (it should really invoke power).
fix: access manually via Settings until I fix.
prob: screen text is default (one size too large imho). Need to find the registry key to notch it down a level.
fix: do manually via "screen"for now.
prob: the background is a gif as I can't workout how to get the compiler to use a jpg for the Default_stwater.
fix: none
issue: slight colour banding because of it.
prob: empty Tools folder on Start-Menu.
fix: delete it from /Windows/Start-Menu/Programs
issue: can't find the location to kill it so you'll need to do manually.

I am also a noob cook but for the tilt. Ill be happy to help you with what I can.
The screen calibration depends on the build you are using. What build are you using?
I normally just take a jpg file and rename it and copy over the old one in the sys file.
As far as the empty folder you should be able to just delete the icon and then it will not be there. I am not sure how you have your kitchen set up. If you have a custom icon package in your ext folder then you can delete it there.
Not to sure about the text size but will look into it.
1
might be something with your kitchen
in some kitchens for diamond there is option to "disable everything other than screen calibration" (exactly opp. but that might cause some issue)
3
use advanced config and in "today" options select display battery on today screen
6
in your kitchen look for a file called "initflashfiles.dat" (NOT TXT)
it will be in "OEM_Lang_xxxx" folder (might differ)
edit that file and remove entry for the tools folder
and keep that file in "read only" attributes
1. already played with this option but it's not doing anything for me "disable everything other than screen calibration" ... It did work at one point
3. I don't want it on the Today screen I only want it to run the htcpower app when it's clicked.
6. "initflashfiles.dat">> no entry called "Tools" already tried that
Why does it matter if it's read-only or not?
I'm assuming the result is a cause of the action on this, but I had installed some widgets such as ebay from a popular windows mobile website, and after 1 use of each, decided they weren't up to much and used the HD2 inbuilt remove programme tool to delete them.
What I hadn't counted on was the fact that having placed shortcuts into my quicklinks, deleting these would cause problems. I now have white icons with the window logo in colour on them in place of the shortcuts, and tapping these gives a "Shortcut Target" X Error opening the shortcut or locating the target filename" popup. This has also resulted in the menu softlink on the bottom right of the homescreen now not working (it greys when I press it, but there is no action).
Please can anyone advise how to fix this?
I've searched "start menu key" "remap menu key" "menu key error" but am having no luck.
EDIT: I found a post where someone had problems removing quicklinks and realised it was down to having the 25 quicklinks mod, I deleted the cab and it has gone away.
I have an HTC HD Mini with Manila 2.5.20131825.3 I am not sure which program I did uninstall and the quicklaunch icon asociated to that program become light grey.
Now when I clic on that icon a message appears sayin that "" file cannot be open...
Can anyone tell me on which file or registry key does the manila save the quicklaunch links so I can erase this entry because using the gui I cannot either remove it or add a new one instead. It is becomeng me crazy as hell.
Thanks a lot!!!!
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\Home
Key 0 is the 1st quick launch, I had something strange where it would not let me apply a shortcut, I'd select the program, ok it, but it would not change the icon or run it when tapped, turned out the reg key for that quick launch had disappeared somehow, I may have un-installed an app, but I cannot remember now, ended up exporting an existing key, renaming it using notepad on my laptop, then importing it again, worked after that
