[*Fixed*] WiFi Not Connecting Error {First Comprehensive Step by Step Tutorial}
Hi folks,
This is a ray of hope for those who have been stuck with their dead WIFi radio and have been unable to fix it, even after changing the ROM/Radio Version.
Code:
Tested on: O2 xda Orbit ARTE200
hTc Artemis P3300

}
Earlier Error: WiFi turns on (Shows moving Logo/Detects Available Networks) but, never able to connect, despite everything (Settings/Pass Key) been All Right. The icon Never goes Static (i.e. No Connection could be established between the available WiFi network in Range, and the WiFi Radio of the device.)
Solution follows. Read carefully, and do the following.
The ZIP Package Contains 9 files (plus TWO FOLDERS):
Code:
" MyBackUP [Folder]
Restore From Here [Folder]
backup. bat
Cert_SPCS.cab
Disable_Security.cab
EnableRapi.cab
itsutils.dll
pdocread.exe
pdocwrite.exe
restore.bat
Tutorial.txt
"
Unzip & Extract the contents of the archive to Desktop in a Folder. Name it "WiFi Fix" (without the quotes).
Tutorial:
STEP 1: Note down your IMEI on a piece of Paper/ Notepad & keep it safe (Get it by dialing *#06# on your default Phone Dialer). Remove SIM & Storage Card. Your device must be SPL Unlocked. Do it first, if not already done. Connect your PPC to your PC/Laptop. Enable ActiveSync (Windows XP) or Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) (Windows Vista & Windows7). Make sure to confirm the "CONNECTED" sign on your PDA & PC. And make sure to keep the WiFi radio on your PPC "TURNED OFF".
STEP 2: Once connection is established, transfer the following files to your PDA and install in Device Memory (Preferably not in the Storage Card), if not already installed. Restart/Soft Reset your PDA. Wait untill the device Restarts and the connection is re-established. (Skip this step if the above three files were pre-installed).
Code:
" Cert_SPCS.cab
Disable_Security.cab
EnableRapi.cab "
STEP 3: Run "backup.bat". A Command prompt window will appear and Two new files will be generated, namely:
Code:
" CID.bin
GSM.bin "
STEP 4: Move (Cut & Paste) these two files to the 'MyBackUp" FOLDER. Overwrite, if already existing. These are your BackUp data, save them carefully in that folder.
STEP 5: Open the FOLDER "Restore From Here". Copy two files from this folder and paste them on the main foder (called ROOT or "WiFi Fix"), namely (overwrite if already existing):
Code:
" CID.bin
GSM.bin "
The Folder now contains the following 11 files (plus TWO FOLDERS):
Code:
" MyBackUP [Folder]
Restore From Here [Folder]
backup. bat
CID.bin
Cert_SPCS.cab
Disable_Security.cab
EnableRapi.cab
GSM.bin
itsutils.dll
pdocread.exe
pdocwrite.exe
restore.bat
Tutorial.txt "
STEP 6: Run "restore.bat". A command window will appear, and it will fix the errors. Restore your own IMEI using Artemis Sim Unlock.exe /
Wizard Service Tools. Insert SIM & Memory Card.
Reboot your device, and getgoing with your WiFi, revived!
Wait a while before your device connects to Wireless Network for the first time. Next time onwards connections will take place in less than amoment.

A thread without a reply either means its too perfect to be commented about, or its too useless to spend a word for it.
I wonder if I should consider deleting this topic.
No need to keep useless stuff going. HUH!!
It's really working !

Thanks. Been looking for something like this.
Thanks ! Cause lot of french member ask me for that !
Does anyone know how to do this with the start up image on the o2 version of copilot live 7 you get with the orbit 2?
Ok, ignore my last question i figured it out.
The problem i have now is with the rom update utility, everything is fine until the ppc screen says Loading..., at this point the activesync connection ends and i get an error 260 saying the software cannot connect to the pda
Remove MicroSD from slot and everything will work.
The_Steph
Hello.
It's a pretty cool thing, thanks !
Just a question : I'm using stock SFR french ROM, do i need to use HardSPL ?
Thanks again.
works great, does anyone know how to change the second splash image?
chris2403 said:

Click to collapse
easy, just rename any gif to "animated.gif" and copy to \windows
that dosent apper to work on my orbit 2, i still get the green windows mobile screen
The second splash screen (animated HTC logo) is the windows\animated.gif file. To disable it, you have to change your registry settings :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation]
"Enabled"=dword:00000000
The third one (Windows mobile) is Windows\welcomehead.96.png.
The_Steph
Right, im using an orbit 2, when i startup i used to get:
1. O2 Splash Screen
2. Windows Mobile Splash Screen (Green one)
3. Today Screen
I did the method in the first post to get:
1. Custom Splash Screen
2. Windows Mobile Splash Screen (Green one)
3. Today Screen
then i tried the method you posted to try to change 2. but i still get what is above
chris 2403,
My mistake, Windows Mobile Splash Screen is not welcomehead.96.bmp as stated in my ealier post (corrected since to avoid other user mistakes) but welcomehead.96.png.
Sorry for that.
The_Steph
Thanks, that worked great!
This is what i use now
Splash
I'm not able to rename or overwrite animated.gif and welcomehead.96.png. I try with Total commander and also try to change attributes (system and read only unchecked) but I can't! Any suggestions!?
Ciao
message with HTC ROM TOOL
I am using Vista and I have a message witch HTC ROM TOOL when I load splash_screen.nb (150ko) that I have created with nb_image_converter.exe
"Size of this file is less than default. Do you want to assign this file?"
when I press "YES", I have a new message :
"Do you want to pad this file with trailing 0x00's to achieve default size?"
I press "YES" and I click on BUILD and a message indicate me that All seems to be OK
When I flash my HTC Polaris, the splash screen is white and my picture is not loaded.
Where is the mistake?
make sure size of the foto u using to create nb image.
u must save the new file as RUU_signed.nbh as this is what the flasher looks for
otherwise u probably are left with blank splash seen as white
The problem i have now is with the rom update utility, everything is fine until the ppc screen says Loading..., at this point the activesync connection ends and i get an error 246 saying pda not responding
This guide is for anyone having issues with their HTC Hero drivers. It is aimed at Windows users and the guide was performed on Windows 7 x64 but relevant to older systems with minor adjustments (use common sense).
Most of it will be pictures, i'll try to fill in the rest in future and give it some layout but for the most part this process is easier to see than describe. Very much a work in progress.
Note: Unplug your phone from your pc for these processes until told otherwise. Remove any version of HTC Sync prior to 2.0.33 before doing these processes.
Might Need Apps:
HTC Sync for Android v1.5
HTC Sync for Android v2.1
USB Deview
Remove Old Drivers:
1. Start USBDeview by running the exe in the zip file
2. Remove any drivers which read like the following:
3. Reboot your machine
Installing The Correct Drivers:
1. Install the latest version of HTC Sync (2.0.40 or 3.0.5422)
2. Reboot
3. Right Click on Computer in your start menu and choose "Manage"
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
4. Select Device Manager on the left hand side.
5. Plug your phone into the PC and let the drivers install (you should see changes in device manager in real time). Under "ADB Interface" you should now see "My HTC" as seen in the picture.
This is correct and you should move onto the "Bootloader Drivers" section below. If you don't see this then carry on.
6. Right click on whatever you get under "ADB Interface" and do the following:
- Choose Update Driver Software...
- Browse my computer for driver software
- Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
- Have Disk
- Browse
- C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Win7_x64 (last folder may be different)
- Select "androidusb.inf"
- OK
- Next
- Finish
You should now have the correct HTC Hero drivers installed. Move onto bootloader drivers section.
Bootloader Drivers:
Note: assumes you have the latest version of HTC Sync installed prior to doing this and have followed the driver process above to arrive here.
1. Switch off your phone and then hold Volume Down when you press the Power On button (Vol Down + Power).
2. You should have a white screen with some coloured text and 3 android's on skateboards. This is bootloader mode.
3. Now plug your phone into your pc and watch device manager change (this can take a minute or two). If "ADB Interface" doesn't show up or you get an "Unknown Device" error (perfectly normal - i think) then press the Back button and wait a couple of minutes then press volume Down again. This switches to Fastboot mode and back to Bootloader mode. AFAIK the drivers are the same so you should be able to do this process in either mode. You should get the driver "HTC Bootloader" or similar in your device manager. You need to repeat the steps above to change that to My HTC instead.
4. Right click on whatever you get under "ADB Interface" and do the following:- - Choose Update Driver Software...
- Browse my computer for driver software
- Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
- Have Disk
- Browse
- C:\Program Files (x86)\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\Win7_x64 (last folder may be different)
- Select "androidusb.inf"
- OK
- Next
- Finish
You should now have the correct HTC Hero bootloader drivers installed. This will allow you to correctly install a RRU from HTC.
Brilliant guide! I have added it to my sig!
Nice one, thanks
Wow this worked 100% installed perfectly
thanks

If you search the forums for windows mobile tips and tricks, you will see the most discussed topic is ‘How to change/update Windows Mobile Rom’. As far as the older versions of WM are concerned, i.e. WM 5, 6, 6.5 (I am not talking about WM 7), lots of custom Roms are available on internet. Most of them are not official (although Microsoft did released some updates), but people are more interested in those non-official custom Roms as they allow you to install, say WM 6.5 on the phone with WM 5 originally installed; with good performance and almost same speed.
So here is my guide on “How to upgrade Rom on HTC Artemis (P3300)/O2 XDA Orbit”, I have tried it on my O2 XDA Orbit and its working perfectly, just remember to follow step by step instructions.
1. Download these files: Rom to Install, USPL Files, and No Size USPL.
2. The name of first file will be HTC_P3300_WWE_3.13.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe. Extract it and put the contents at an easily accessible place (e.g. on desktop in folder “1”).
3. Extract the second file (arte_uspl.rar) on desktop, a folder “arte_uspl” will be created, open it; you will see “start_uspl.exe”.
4. Make sure your phone is connected to your PC. Now click on start_uspl.exe, a DOS window will appear, don’t close it.
After 1-2 minutes, it will automatically close and new screen will appear.
Don’t click any button on that screen and don’t close it!
5. Now go to the Folder 1 (created in step 2), there you will find a file named RUU_signed.nbh, delete it.
6. Now go back to folder arte_uspl, copy the file RUU_USPL_signed.nbh and put it in Folder 1.
7. Now open ROMUpdateUtility.exe which is in Folder 1, same window will appear as mentioned in step 4 (Don’t close the previous window), now click next on new window opened and follow the instructions. At the end phone will reboot itself. Now you can close the previous window.
8. After reboot wait until your phone connects to the PC again. Now extract the last file (arteUSPL-nosize-cmon.rar), a folder “arteUSPL-nosize-cmon” will be created, copy RUU_Signed.nbh and put it in Folder 1 (and delete RUU_USPL_signed.nbh). Now click ROMUpdateUtility.exe and follow simple instructions. Phone will reboot again.
9. Now your phone is ready to install any Rom, simply put the .nbh file in folder 1 (and delete RUU_Signed.nbh), click ROMUpdateUtility.exe, follow the instructions and the phone will reboot. And BOOM, your artemis now has a new rom! ;-)
10. At any step if there is any error, start the process again from step 3.
Special thanks to denstereo, for his guide. I updated my xda orbit’s rom and created this tutorial using his guide. Thanks man!
I have tested and it is working on my xda orbit/p3300, but if you are trying it on any other device and it works, do let me know!
Good Luck!
..
thank you,,,,
Welcome
You Guys are more then welcome i'm glad if i could help anyone!!
Plz test this tutorial on your devices and give me your feedback!!

@☆KØŁØЯΛĐØ☆ providing some of the device files + the original guide for another j737p variant this was modified from + testing/porting aforementioned root method
@topjohnwu for Magisk as always !!!
The link below is to the thread for the guide to root the j737p J737PVPU1ARG3 variant in which I modified this guide from.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-j7/development/twrp-root-galaxy-j7-refine-8-0-boost-t3916575
------------------------------------------
Download all files needed as well as this guide saved to a .txt document here:
https://www.mediafire.com/download/uckb1mji1r01f9m
------------------------------------------
Read all before just winging it and follow directions with precision !!!
( Run all progams by right click - Run as administrator )
Step 1
Unzip - Odin3_v3.13.1 ( non-patched ).zip + Install the samsung USB drivers via SAMSUNG_USB_Driver_for_Mobile_Phones.exe
YOU MUST PAY ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING
- In the Step_1.zip you extracted, load up Odin_v13.1 (non-patched)
- Load only the BL/AP/CP files from your stock firmware into Odin
- As soon as the flashing process ends, you must reboot quickly back into Download Mode. You have to be quick. If you allow the device to begin booting up, it makes the rooting process more difficult.
Step 2
Assuming you followed directions...
- Close Odin_v13.1 & unplug your device while still remaining in Download Mode
- Launch Odin_v13.1 [Patched] & load up the patched_boot.tar in the AP slot
- Reconnect device & proceed to flash
- Device will reboot with "Verification Failure" so you must reset (this is part of root) (it does not activate FRP lock)
( It may get stuck at a soft bootloop on the samsung logo, if it does just hold the power button and volume down until it reboots again then let go. ) ( should not have to repeat this more than once or twice )
- When device reboots to Setup Wizard, skip through it. Do not add any accounts (Google or Samsung). Do not consent to giving any device data for whatever purposes (they will ask twice; look carefully)
- On the home screen, Go to settings - unlock Dev Options & allow USB Debugging. OEM should already have been unlocked.
Step 3
- Connect device to your pc & in the platform-tools+Magisk folder you, run CMD.exe
- Input adb devices to ensure proper connection
- Input adb install -r MagiskManager-v7.0.0.apk to install MM to your device
- Open MagiskManager & make sure everything is good to go (see attached screenshot)
- If everything is done properly then you will see a superuser tab in the left side-bar, indicating root access

Would this work to root my SM-J737P with firmware J737PVPS9BUD2 on Android 9.0? What other files do I need to accomplish this? Thanks!
Hello, first of all I apologize for my English if you don't understand me somewhere, I'm learning English. Greetings from Peru.
Files and programs you need to downloadTHIS PROCESS WORKS WITH ALMOST ALL DEVICES, ONLY IF THEY HAVE THE BOOTLOADER CORRECTLY UNLOCKED WITHOUT THE NEED OF A TWRP.
In the computer1- Lenovo Rescue and Smart Assistant, will help you in 2 things: In case your device is frozen or in a loop, there you can recover it and right there you can find and download the ROM of your device for free.
As you can see in this image my device is already selected and the ROM is already downloaded (just follow the steps and your device will be fine again)

"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Here you will find the ROM
as you can see, location, folder and files of the ROM (it is necessary that you know where it is since you will need some files later)
2-You need to have ADB/FASTBOOT installed to be able to install the ROOT (remember that this is the safe way, there is no risk of your device freezing or in a loop, but everything is possible).
Link : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...vers-15-seconds-adb-installer-v1-4-3.2588979/
on device1- First of all, you have to have the bootloader unlocked, here I leave the guide since it is somewhat long to read
Link : https://www.mobilewithdrivers.com/download/unlock-bootloader/lenovo-tab-m10-fhd-plus-tb-x606f
2- After unlocking the bootloader, you have to have Magisk.apk installed on your device
Link : https://github.com/topjohnwu/Magisk/releases
3- After installing Magisk, on the main screen you have to see if Ramdisk is "yes" or "no".
It says "si" because my native language is Spanish.
4- Go back to the computer and in the ROM folder you have to find the file "boot.img" and copy it to your device
5- within Magisk where it says "install", they give it to install and something similar to this will come out:
6- They only give the following next "siguiente " and select the option of Select file "seleccionar y parchar un archivo" (I repeat again ignore if it comes out in Spanish, you in English)
7- from there the explorer will open and they will look for where they copied the "boot.img" and select it.
Once the selector is given to start or let's start "comencemos"
the process has to be something similar to the image that I will post below, you can several certain lines but at the end it has to say "done!" without any error.
8- Now to finish the process on your device, copy the file that appears in your magisk "the patched file". Copy and paste it into the ADB/FASTBOOT folder
we return to the computer
1- First of all, you have to enable "usb debugging" on your device
Link : https://www.embarcadero.com/starthe...bling_usb_debugging_on_an_android_device.html
2- Now go to your ADB/FASTBOOT folder and in a blank part open "powershell",
Now go to your ADB/FASTBOOT folder and in a blank part open "powershell" .
Holding SHIFT and right clicking open POWERSHELL
now they write "cmd" without quotes so that inside PowerShell you can use it as cmd
3- Here I will explain it in a long but correct way without errors, do not turn off the computer and leave it on since you will write an ADB command to order the device to enter Fastboot mode.
By typing "adb devices" you will find out if the drivers are correctly installed and your computer, cmd and adb/fastboot should recognize it.
now type "adb reboot-bootloader" , this will command your device to reboot into "bootloader" mode
Now this part is important that you pay attention as some people make mistakes.
Once your device has rebooted and you get to the "fastboot mode" screen, you will type the following in powershell :
fastboot devices
If the following appears, it is because your computer detects your device in fastboot mode.
Now comes almost the end of this guide, to install root do the following.
To root your device they usually tell you to type the following "fastboot flash boot boot.img", but sometimes there are errors.
what you will do is the following :
once you have written the following
you are going to drag the "magisk patches" file to the poweshell
and you will have to leave the path where the saved file is (this is a safe way so that you do not get errors)
now you just hit "enter" and it will be installed on your device
Now to finish, restart the device, install "root checker" and you will realize that you have it activated.
attached image of my device "Tab M10 FHD 2nd TB-x606x" with the latest ROM installed, having ROOT, MAGISK and modules installed
THIS PROCESS WORKS WITH ALMOST ALL DEVICES, ONLY IF THEY HAVE THE BOOTLOADER CORRECTLY UNLOCKED WITHOUT THE NEED OF A TWRP.
If the guide helped you, please comment, if it didn't work for you, please comment as I will try to help you solve the problem.
Currently I will not be contributing more to the community since I do not have my own computer, the computer I use will only be there for a few days, after that they will take it away.
when I have a new computer, I will be sharing RecoveryTWRP for some devices modified by me or some other help that I am able to carry out and finish as a project.
I thank XDA for creating this space to help, guide and for everyone to learn in the process.
I send you greetings from Peru.
Nice, thank you very much, sir.
