If you search the forums for windows mobile tips and tricks, you will see the most discussed topic is ‘How to change/update Windows Mobile Rom’. As far as the older versions of WM are concerned, i.e. WM 5, 6, 6.5 (I am not talking about WM 7), lots of custom Roms are available on internet. Most of them are not official (although Microsoft did released some updates), but people are more interested in those non-official custom Roms as they allow you to install, say WM 6.5 on the phone with WM 5 originally installed; with good performance and almost same speed.
So here is my guide on “How to upgrade Rom on HTC Artemis (P3300)/O2 XDA Orbit”, I have tried it on my O2 XDA Orbit and its working perfectly, just remember to follow step by step instructions.
1. Download these files: Rom to Install, USPL Files, and No Size USPL.
2. The name of first file will be HTC_P3300_WWE_3.13.405.1_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship_R.exe. Extract it and put the contents at an easily accessible place (e.g. on desktop in folder “1”).
3. Extract the second file (arte_uspl.rar) on desktop, a folder “arte_uspl” will be created, open it; you will see “start_uspl.exe”.
4. Make sure your phone is connected to your PC. Now click on start_uspl.exe, a DOS window will appear, don’t close it.
After 1-2 minutes, it will automatically close and new screen will appear.
Don’t click any button on that screen and don’t close it!
5. Now go to the Folder 1 (created in step 2), there you will find a file named RUU_signed.nbh, delete it.
6. Now go back to folder arte_uspl, copy the file RUU_USPL_signed.nbh and put it in Folder 1.
7. Now open ROMUpdateUtility.exe which is in Folder 1, same window will appear as mentioned in step 4 (Don’t close the previous window), now click next on new window opened and follow the instructions. At the end phone will reboot itself. Now you can close the previous window.
8. After reboot wait until your phone connects to the PC again. Now extract the last file (arteUSPL-nosize-cmon.rar), a folder “arteUSPL-nosize-cmon” will be created, copy RUU_Signed.nbh and put it in Folder 1 (and delete RUU_USPL_signed.nbh). Now click ROMUpdateUtility.exe and follow simple instructions. Phone will reboot again.
9. Now your phone is ready to install any Rom, simply put the .nbh file in folder 1 (and delete RUU_Signed.nbh), click ROMUpdateUtility.exe, follow the instructions and the phone will reboot. And BOOM, your artemis now has a new rom! ;-)
10. At any step if there is any error, start the process again from step 3.
Special thanks to denstereo, for his guide. I updated my xda orbit’s rom and created this tutorial using his guide. Thanks man!
I have tested and it is working on my xda orbit/p3300, but if you are trying it on any other device and it works, do let me know!
Good Luck!
..
thank you,,,,

Cheers

I don't see the fuss about the rotate icon. You could write your own in 5 minutes or less.

Thanks V - i dont know about 5 mins - maybe for you being a wizzo programmer and all! But for the rest of us 5 days more like
kool neat although there isnt too much need for the button, seeing as however you use the device it auto rotates the screen and it gets it right

The theme you needed here. It is done by my buddy-Kicd!
And you can download many beautiful themes from my friends in www.hkppc.com
Doesn't work for me
I tried this screen rotate fix on my TyTn (HTC Rom 1.35), and it doesn't work.
I looked at this, but quite frankly there are so many apps that include this as an included feature...
It does't work on my TyTN (ROM 2.11.258.1) ... Neiter the xelashiu's solution, nor vijay555's registry keys...
Is there a solution?!
This is total fluff, but...if you're tired of the Sprint Ahead animation during startup of your device, and are sick of iPhone users whipping out their 'units' to show you how purdy they are...try this on for size.

I made this the same size and frame number as the original so you simply have to drop it into your \windows directory...right-click the image above and 'save picture as...' and rename to 'SPCS_startup.gif' (btw - it doesn't loop...so if you didn't see it, refresh your browser)
Enjoy!
-E
you could just turn off the startup animation using the configuration tools available on this site.
Yeah...I'm aware of that...but where's the fun in that? (also, mine doesn't seem to boot any faster without the animation)
-E
how would i go about this on a vzw xv6800? i am not seeing the SPCS_startup.gif in the windows folder. I'm assuming the startup animation is under a different filename. Anyone know?
can you explain how to do this step by step? sorry just got my phone and still trying to figure out everything
Tried to do this per your instructions on my Mogul but the original file on the stock rom won't delete and it also won't let me copy this one in it's place. What now?

Yea I had this same issue..It doesnt allow you to rename it...or delete it either. Guess its not as easy as he made it seem.

Try copying it to the device first (like in my docs) and then use the file explorer in the device to overwrite the old file.
If you try to do it from your desktop it will simply say the file is protected...
But if you do it from the device it will ask you if you really want to overwrite the file and release it just long enough to let you change the file.
I did this from my Mogul not from the desktop. Used the device to go to this thread. Copied the .gif to my storage card, re-copied and tried to paste to the Windows directory. It asked if I wanted to replace the file with this one. I tapped yes. Error message: File cannot be replaced. Tried to delete the original file. Error message: File cannot be deleted. I appreciate your help with this. I'm not a noob, I just don't really post or upload anything.
use total commander
worked great thanks
Sorry for not explaining it further...and for not getting back to those who were interested. I guess I never even tried to copy directly from the desktop OS...I always pull data from my desktop to storage on the device before doing anything with it.
I'm glad that somebody else out there thought this was at least a little amusing and decided to throw it on their device.
ok guys, so first, i want to apologize for my bad english. im not very good when it comes to writing and talking.
let's go; what we are going to do is flash the ROM with aan included ROOT, with the posibility of wiping our device.
I remind you that: **I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE TO YOUR DEVICE OR YOUR COMPUTER.**
**I RECOMMEND CHARGING YOUR BATTERY TO 100%**
**I ALSO RECOMMEND YOU TO MAKE A COPY OF ALL YOUR DATA**
YOU WILL MISS YOUR GARANTY IF YOU ROOT YOUR DEVICE**
First step: DOWNLOAD THE ROM Through this link and place it in your desktop.
2. you will also have to download ODIN 3
3.in Developer options, activate the USB Debugging option (Settings --> Developer options --> USB Debugging
Ok, you have to start ODIN and you have to get your device in Downloading Mode. (you will do this by shuting it off. and then pressing *VOLUME DOWN KEY*+*HOME KEY*+*POWER KEY*. when you do that you should press the volume up key) When you are in Downloading mode you should connect your device to your PC.
4. Once synchronized, with Odin, you have to select "OPEN" where it says PDA. select the archive you downloaded before. (the one with the name *I8190XXALK6_I8190XEFALK1_HOME_ROOTED.tar.md5*) (you have to uncompress that item before using it)
5. then you press start in Odin, and wait 'til the instalation finishes. the your device should reboot and odin should show a message saying PASS!
6. then you should be able to boot your device like you do normally.
EXTRA STEPS JUST IF YOU HAVE ANY ERROR
1. if you cant boot, you will need to WIPE your device instaling this archive and use it like in step 4 through the PDA button.
2. if you still have any problem, you should install this following step 4.
how your device should look like

Any problem or suggestion, please comment and thank.
This will install an older December rom! I'm afraid it's a step back, and bad advice.
Most countries have moved on from the LL2 rom in that file.
The instructions also mention the LK6 rom, which is even older, and not attached above.
this is avicoh first rooted rom and it was posted here on the forum long ago. I dont know why u reposted, to be honest i wayted for u to post but thought u come up with another solution that doesnt include Odin.
Best regards,
Yeah this isn't anything new, I and everyone here thought there was some kind of new ROOTING method. The Rom is already Rooted.
Sent from my GT-I8190 using xda premium
This has been covered before in the correct forum. Read before posting.
Posted in the wrong topic, my apologies to mod's.
Ok. guys follow these steps and do not miss any
Download the files 1. here & 2. here
Credits to hyelton and somboons
1. Install R&D tool B2CAppSetup.exe (close it if it opens) also install the LG mobile drivers.
2. Delete the existing files and folders in C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX
Copy over the files from downloaded LGMOBILEAX to same directory in C:\ProgramData\LGMOBILEAX
(It is hidden so make sure to enable hidden items in windows)
3. Take ownership of hosts file located in C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\
Google it if you don't know.
4. Run http file in shttps folder (As Administrator)

5. Run this
6. Click Ok
7. Click Ok again
8. Take a look at system tray
9. Click the three window icon and turn it on
10. Click ok
11. Accept UAC prompt to run the flashtool as administrator.
12. Your small server should look like the one in the window to left and follow the steps in picture after selecting the appropriate kdz file
13. Great success.
14. If you had not wiped data to "clean install a new rom" on Philz touch recovery, you have to factory reset your phone after flashing stock firmware or else it will go in bootloop.
Important:
1. You need to take control of hosts file (Google the steps if you are noob)
2. Copy over files and folders from downloaded LGMOBILEAX folder. It is hidden so make sure to enable hidden items in windows.
3. Follow the above guide step by step. You miss 1 step and it will not work.
4. Hosts file will revert back to default after the flash tool is closed.

Install apps over ADB
Install apks on any Android device running any Android version over ADB!
Hi all,
From a long time i was fiddling around with a problem of installing/downloading apps after installing a new ROM.
Thus i came up with an idea of a Batch File to install all of your apks from your system
to your phone in a few tips and taps. Hah! Found my solution .
How does it look?
To see some screenshots, please click below.
Tested on
The script had been tested on Nexus 5x, Nexus 5, Moto G4 but should work on any android device.
Downloads
Google Drive - Here is the link to Drive.
Link Below - You can also find the file below.
Installation instructions
Prerequisites
1. Platform Tools for Windows (ADB),
2. APK files,
3. Target phone connected to PC and
4. A cup of COFFEE or TEA as you like it.
Process
1. Download it from the attachments below or from the drive link above or here.
2. Copy the file to the ADB folder.
3. Execute the file.
4. You can either place your apps in "D:\Apps" folder. (Sllloooowwwww.....)
ORChange the folder location in batch file itself. (Requires some Coding Skills)
ORBatch file will ask you to change the location, if required. (Easy Installation, Pick Me!)
Troubleshooting
I don't think it's needed. But even then if you get any problem do write. I'll be happy to resolve it.
Enjoy, and also don't forget to write anything (Good, Bad or Thanks etc.)!
thank you so much if works like a charm!
Been locking for something similar.
Is it possible to take that script to next level, and make it as, a list of apps, and for them to be downloaded on the phone. I mean give order through ADB for each apps step by step, instead of folder, to be downloaded.
how to add online option like google drive folder in to the script
