helpp with the Activesync - Touch HD General

Hello everyone ...
I buy a HTC HD from a guy who wanted to sell,
I have a problem with cell phone when I connect the USB device already, when I connect the cable the computer recognizes the device but not the color Cync,
I had the same device but I stole it, and the software that remained still like the software is no good reason
Processes that I do:
1) Connect the cable device
2) choose option Activesync
That is, until here he lets me go, sergeant of the data transfer occurs with X (2 arrows with X)
I tried to enter the main menu, then I went to G Wireless LAN, and data transfer, but the problem is that data transfer is on the OFF mode and allows me to change it to ON
I have your help people! You are the only ones who understand,

Man, i really do not understand what you are saying.
If you want someone to help you,we need to understand the problem.
Please be more.... clear.
I understand that you have some problem with active sync.
It would be great to know what operating system you are using.
By the way how did you manage to steal your own device?

Hi ZinGale,
I am also unsure of what exactly the problem is you are facing , but I understand that you have a synchronisation issue and I would like to help you as best as I can.
Please note: ActiveSync is only compatible with Windows XP or earlier. If you run Windows Vista or Windows 7, download Windows Mobile Device Center.
I am going to assume that you are running Windows XP or earlier as you mentioned you use ActiveSync and not Windows Mobile Device Center.
Here is the link for ActiveSync 4.5 (only compatible with Windows XP or earlier editions).
(1) Uninstall ActiveSync and reinstall it on your PC.
(2) Via your phone, check the USB to PC settings. In USB to PC settings, untick the 'Enable faster data transfer' box if ActiveSync does not recognise your device, save changes.
(3) If you are still having problems, check out one of these online troubleshooting guides:
- Microsoft’s ActiveSync troubleshooting guide
- Chris De Herrera’s ActiveSync troubleshooting guide
If you still have the same problem, then please post back here and try to explain your situation again as best you can.
Good luck.

Cannot connect to Windows Vista - Orange SPV M700

Hi all I've owned this great phone since they first came out.
I had Vista on my machine then and I synced it up no problems.
2 Days ago I did a fresh install of Vista when it was all done my phone synced up again fine.
However yesterday I did a final fresh install just so I could get it just the way I want it without excess programs on.
However now my phone will just not connect.
I'm good with PCs however I'm stumped. It makes the ding sound when connect however WMDC does not recognise.
I have the latest WMDC x64 patch installed. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
PS. this is a great forum
Si
Can none of you Trinity gurus help??
Or point me to another forum which might have info I require on.
I am also having problems connecting to vista - windows mobile device centre, with my M700.
When I connect to the PC the driver installs as Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter, and the device centre does not reconise that the device is connected.
Does anyone have the correct driver they could pm me or post a link, or any fixes.
pda's dont use real drivers they use generic drivers (1 driver for all of them)
that driver comes with the sync program
many many pda owners have issues with vista
by no fault of their pda's
Hmmm try do a window update or use another usb port
I have managed to resove this issue by clicking on:
Start>Settings>Connections>USB to PC> Then unticking the option "Enable advanced network functionalaty".
I had a similar problem when I tried to connect my brothers m700 to my p.c. using vista etc... It only recognised my m700 that was sync'd with it earlier and not my brothers for some reason, weird. No matter how many times I rebooted the p.c. or his m700 it would not sync at all, it just did not recognise that it was connected via usb.

I had the same problem when I first got my P3600, after I did this it worked fine.
If Windows Live OneCare is installed on your machine, it may be blocking the device connectivity. Please click here for the steps to configure Windows Live OneCare to allow the device to connect.
The driver installation may not have completed successfully. If you think this may be the case, follow these steps:
Keep your device connected
From the desktop, go to Start > Start Search
Enter "Device Manager" or "devmgmt.msc" to launch the Device Manager window
Look under the "Network adapters" node for "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter". If this is not present, skip to step 5. Otherwise, right-click "Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter" and choose to "Uninstall"
Look under the "Mobile Devices" node for "Microsoft USB Sync". If this is not present, skip to step 6. Otherwise, right-click "Microsoft USB Sync" and choose to "Uninstall"
Disconnect and reconnect your device. Your device driver will re-install and Windows Mobile Device Center will launch.
Good Luck!

Vista connection problems

Hi,
My hdd gave up in my laptop other day bought another 1 installed vista
now im having connection problems both with bluetooth and via usb with my
t-mobile ameo
does any 1 know if there is a update some where to get them working again
ive done a windows update and installed windows mobile device centre
thanks
Im running Vista business edition and had no problems at all - even updated my rom!
What do you get when you plus the Ameo in? Does it show up in the Device centre?
sync centre has just got the usual offline folder
windows mobile device centre 6.1 has the mobile device settings and the not
connected bit at the bottom
its so weired it all synced b4 theres nothing different installed setup etc...
on the device it says "to synchronize this device, you must install activesync 4.5 or newer on your desktop computer"
thanks
How Wierd.... mine lliterally just fired up autoomatically.
In your PPC, go to SETTING -> CONNECTIONS -> USB TO PC. Untick the "ENABLE ADVANCED NETWORK FUNCTIONALITY". Remove the connection by unplugging your USB cable and the plugging it again. No guarantee this will work, but you may try.
IT Works
i tried the unticking the advance option still didnt work...
i thought about the user account control in vista this came as my mobile
data card for my laptop wasnt installed correctly and after checking out the
install log and it saying access control n a load of other stuff saying
permission denied etc.... i thought id turn vistas user account control off this
fixed my data card problem ......i then pluged my t-mobile ameo in and hey
presto it picked it up as a black HTC Advantage due to my mobile 6 rom
upgrade
I believe Active Sync won't work on Visat, you need Mobile Device Center, available here
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...ea-9df9-4920-af33-3a0e2e4e7beb&displaylang=en
Makes sense as I have crappy user control switched off as it annoyed me greatly!
Vista Utlimate Connects but refuses access.
This solution worked instantly for us.

We had downloaded the upgrade device driver and the Windoze Vista replacement for ActiveSync... as Vista dictates on first connection.
We got the sound effect acknowledging USB connection, but Windoze Mobile Device Centre obstinately ignored the connection.
We tried the tricks suggested by the mages and sages, like adding ports etc. to the firewall, and deleting the driver in the Vista Device Manager... forcing it to re-install. None of it worked for the Ameos.
We removed the Mobile Device Centre and the upgraded driver, resolving to connect to the Ameos only via our XP Tablet instead.
It seemed that the USB connection was being made, but something else was blocking it.
Then this possible solution (reproduced here) caught our eye.
It was the work of a moment to follow the path and remove the check in that item.
Imagine our surprise and delight when we connected to Windoze Vista Ultimate again... and remember that there is no upgraded driver or Mobile Device Centre installed now... and we got the "what shall I do with this device" dialogue box. We checked the item to open the device in a folder each time and... it did... and does... just that.
We do not need synchronisation for our use of the Ameos since all of the significant email and document traffic occurs on the laptops and Tablet, but we can appreciate why someone would want that Mobile Device Centre to be re-installed. We won't be doing that anytime soon though.
Congratulations to you cayotte, and this forum as a whole.
BTW, I read about the problems folks have with the Microdrive. We have two Ameos. One works great with the Microdrive, the other one does not, and we have to leave it for data files only.
The older unit is the one which works well.
We already had the User Account Control turned off so I cannot say if that had any effect.

Activesync and Windows XP not playing ball

Hi
Im having a problem with activesync on windows xp. My HTC touch HD will sync with vista at work, but just will not sync on my home pc.
Ive read various threads and some say there is a problem with service pack 3 and activesync 4.5 so I installed activesync 4.2 and 4.1 but I get the same, the computer either reboots when I attach the phone or just will not find the phone. The pc does make a sound as if the phone is attached but activesync doesn’t find the phone.
I noticed in device manager that there is windows mobile device #2 with a yellow exclamation mark and the problem is windows cant load the driver, Ive tried rollback driver, uninstall the item but still no luck.
Im running NRG’s rom but it cant be the rom at fault as the phone syncs with vista.
I will try and take off service pack 3 and see how I get on but if you have any advice it would be welcome.
Thanks
Zeb
No, it's not that.
I have ActiveSync 4.5 on Windows XP SP3 here and my two HTC phones connect and sync with no problem. I have even loaded new ROMs on them from here.
Same thing on my other computer with Windows Vista and Windows 7 with WMDC. No problem connecting with my two phones on any ROM.
Try to clean your USB device list, I had to do this on some computers when a USB device is not correctly detected.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB
Delete all keys starting by Vid
I have discovered that Active Sync can't usefully sync with more than 1 or 2 pcs - I too use XP and AS4.2 at home (on a laptop) to sync contacts/diary/tasks - and I hook up to my Vista work PC JUST for power (no syncing whatsoever).
I recently tried to Sync my contacts over to a new laptop, and couldn't do it - I had to copy the Outlook.pst files over and then remove the AS profiles on the phone - very irritating.
Have you tried disabling "faster data synchronization" under settings->connections->USB to PC?
I had the same problem once and removing the tick resolved it...
(Remember to disconnect and reconnect the device after changing this setting.)
Thanks guys for your advice on this.
I formatted my pc and installed windows xp again. I installed my firewall etc and surprise surprise activesync worked perfectly.
I installed service pack 3 and low and behold activesync would not play ball.
So Ive taken off service pack 3. Is there anything critical in service pack with regard to updates?
Thanks Bill Gates for testing your updates.
Working here with SP3 and no 3rd party firewall.
Any 3rd party firewall will block the activesync communication as it's done through IP.
The computer uses 169.254.2.2 and the PDA uses 169.254.2.1
Configure your firewall to allow that traffic

TD2 + Windows 7

Hi there everyone. I'm having some problems synchronizing my TD2 that I would really appretiate some help with.
I'm using a pretty vanilla TD2, retail with no significant changes. I was synchronizing it with Outlook 2003 on my previous PC with no problems what so ever. Now, i've moved across to Windows 7 (64bit Enterprise) and Office 2007, and I cannot for the life of me get it working.
I've tried a number of things, including changing over the "Enable faster data synchronizing" option under USB to PC connections, upgrading to the new WM6.5 rom, and even connecting via bluetooth - all in vain.
Does anyone have any idea as to whats going wrong, and how I can go about correcting it?
Thanks in advance for any help with this issue.
Make sure you have Windows Mobile Device Centre 6.1 installed as Active sync won't work with 7.
WMD Centre
Hi
I have Windows 7 64 bit and mine works better than Vista.
Go to this link:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-us/downloads/microsoft/device-center-download.mspx
Download appropriate version (32bit or 64 bit). Install it. Then plug in your TD2. Make sure you see some sort of notification on your phone and your PC that it has picked up the device. Wait for any configuration to occur.
Go to Windows Update and check if you need to install any HTC Usb device driver. If so install that too.
Restart once all installed. Plug in your TD2 into computer and activate Windows Mobile Device Centre and follow the prompts.
Oh and open activesync on your TD2 and check you haven't more than the 2 partnerships otherwise this causes problems too.
Cheers

HELP - cannot sync to windows 7 starter

Ive bought a netbook running windows 7 starter, now my hd2 wont connect with windows mobile device center.
I originally set up the pc synch(activesync) with an xp laptop and now it wont connect with the windows 7 netbook.
The phone is telling me to install activesync , but i cant because i have to install the newer windows mobile device center WTF
Ive deleted the old connections on activesync on my phone.
Is there something new to download to my hd2?
Any advice?
Thanks
windows mobile device centre does the same as activesync. it is the new name for activesync used on win 7.
i use the starter edition also on my netbook and cannot get mobile devicecentre installed for some weird reason. probably a problem on my netbook
started using ms myphone for the things i used mobiledevice centre for.
There must be way to connect the phone to a Windows 7 starter netbook.
I plan on doing a hard reset and want to preserve all my bookmarks, and also want to flash a ROM , I'm sure ill need to sync my phone to a computer for that?
The phone keeps telling me to install activesync on my pc even though I have to use wmdc.
When I reinstall wmdc on the netbook I keep getting an error and it won't install properly.
It says device manager not installed, or something like that .
It's a bloody mystery!
for flashing a rom you do not need activesync or mobile device centre. I flash my phone from my laptop without. just put the phone in bootloader and you can flash a rom as normal using the custom ruu. alternatively you can flash from memory card.
think ms myphone can backup that also but you have to check to make sure.
on my sig there is a flashing guide, in it there is a download for win 7 windows mobile device center run it and you should be good to go
this has been discussed so often, if you had taken the time to search there would be no need for that thread!
It so easy, just use windows update to download the driver and windows mobile center and that's it. If it doesn't work you are doing it wrong because it works for everybody else that way!

Leave ytour phone, as the problem appears to be with the netbook. make sure your netbook is not connected to the internet, then disable all the security and see if WMDC recognises your phone.
Thanks for the respones, ill try those tips when I get a chance later in the day.
Apologies for starting a new thread if its been discussed many times before.
Right, i think ive tried everything.
Hard reset my hd2
Uninstalled wmdc
Did every windows update available
re-installed wmdc with webroot antivirus turned off and internet access turned off.
And it still wont recognise the hd2
When its installing the driver on my netbook for the hd2 it keeps getting an error - it says "unidentified device : device unplugged" even though it is plugged in and screen is on.
The phone will connect to my netbook for the disk drive option and the internet sharing option, so i dont think its a problem with the hd2 usb connection
Its a real mystery, anyone out there able to crack this one?
have you tried this?
settings, menu, all settings, connections, USB to PC, uncheck "enable faster data sync", click done.
when I did that, my HD2 finally connected to PC after DAYS of trying!
Yep! I sure have
The computer is just is not seeing my phone with the the activesync option, but it is seeing the phone with both the disk drive and internet sharing options.
When i try un-install wmdc some errors keep popping up, i have to manually go into the task manager and kill 2 .exe active files otherwise it wont uninstall, very strange indeed
Maybe it could be a usb port issue, but i have tried all 3 usb ports on my netbook.
Hi pabloh999,
I potentially have a fix for you. I experienced the same errors as you tried all you have and eventually found a fix - by accident!
Set to airplane mode on & then off. After this my connections & syncs were fine.
Let us know how you go.

Tried that and - nothing!
Its just not recognising my phone, its saying "device unplugged"
I even turned off the charging function when plugged into a pc, just in case that was draining too much juice from the usb port.
No problem solvers out there??
I am thinking now it could be a problem with the usb ports on my netbook.
On one of my million attempts i got a windows error message saying that i should use a high speed usb port, and it gave me a list of "high speed" usb ports on my computer.
I dont know how to use this information because it doesnt physically show which of my 3 usb ports is the "high speed one(s)"
I thought the three of them are the same?
I tried updating the usb drivers to no avail
Fu**ing pissin me off!
Sync with Win 7
Same problem here, Tried everything on the web and on XDA and still cant sync.
Is this a Microsoft Problem, Oh by the way dont agree with d3l1
Ican still sync with my old XP laptop, but my new Win 7 is crap... (Both are Asus machines)
Any pointers would be welome. Ta.
