Almost 8 out of 10 times I unplug the usb cord from my phone after connecting thru ActiveSync, my phone locks up on the screen it was on while connected to my computer. It shows "Connect to PC" at the top. The only way to have this fixed, is to take out the battery each time, or go to another phone and call my cell to have it leave that screen. Is there a process to disconnect with the USB? Are people going to the USB icon and right clicking "Safely Remove Hardware" when finished syncing their phone to avoid this? Thanks if you can share your experience.
If i got ur problem correctly, you can either tap on "Connect to PC" and see if that will encourage it to move on. Or when in doubt, always hit the Close button, hit it again and the unlock slider should appear wihch should solve the problem.

Anytime I have the K-Jam charging, the screen never goes dim, the backlight is always on. I have selected 5 min shut whether on internal or external power..?
What am I missing..?
Start->Settings->Power, then click the "Advanced" tab. ensure a checkmark appears in the setting for "On Battery Power" (e.g., Turn off device if not used for..").
It will shutdown when connected to a wall charger, but will never dim when connected to a computer via the USB.
Is this a known issue..?
its not a error, its how it should be, when your connected to computer, its not inactive, activesync is constantly running and watching what you are doing.
If anything, you should cancel your activesync process to disable this and also cancel the activesync on the device.
Alternatively, you can try just dimming the screen after inactivity.
Hi
I have an Orange SPV M5000 with the original rom installed. However, on average every 3 out of 4 times I connect the device to my computer a balloon pops up saying "USB Device Not Recognized" and the device does nto synchronize. However if I continuously unplug and plug the device back in every 10 seconds, eventuallly it will work. I have ActiveSync 4.1 and Windows XP Pro SP2 installed on my computer.
Is there any way I can fix this problem or is there something wrong with my PC, rom or hardware? I notice that when I plug the usb into the device the charge light comes on, but sometimes will go out again just after 2 or 3 seconds and not come back on.
Many thanks
Ash
I find less errors by connecting the device with it initially switched OFF.
But really, activesync sucks.
I agree with belfast-biker. Make sure when you plug it in that the HTC Universal is OFF. If you do plug it while it is ON, just press the power button to turn it OFF and wait a minute or two then press it again to turn it ON. Your computer will now recognize your device.

Now this particular problem of yours, I have not encountered. In my EXEC, if I plug mine while it is ON, I will get the message "Device not recognize", but my EXEC would still charge, indicated by the orange light and it won't turn to green untill fully charge. But the light is always ON as long as it is connected to my computer.

Totally agree - I also find that I have less problems (not that it's gone away totally) now that I have switched off the "Turn off device if not used for"... in the Power | Advanced tab.
Cheers,
Steve.
spv m5000
I have the same issue.
Wonder if this is M5000 ROM Only? any O2 machines ?
Same problem with O2 Exec...
Same problem with jasjar, and if you check the backlight sometimes turns on without any apparent reason... I think it's beacause stuff in the notification queue...
I had this problem with my Exec and I just reinstalled ActiveSync over itself and it hasn't happened since.
HELP PLEASE."USB connected" still flashing on phone screen hours after unplugging.
Hey guy's, I've been having a problem where when I have my phone plugged in to my windows PC running Vista 64bit and when I'm done transferring files, I unplug my phone and (on phone top left part of screen) the "USB connected" sign keeps flashing saying that it's still connected. And when I have the ";Debugg mode" on, that also keeps flashing on the upper left part of the screen along with the "USB connected" sign. Does anyone have any idea's on what I did to my phone? Did I break it?
EDIT: when it's plugged in, it works fine.. The "USB logo" shows along with the red triangle with the (!) in the middle...
Any help would be great. And thankls very much in advance...
Hi everyone,
Recently, I tried to get my phone to tether using these directions: (can't post the link yet, but these directions are kind of universal)
2-On the phone, go to keypad and dial ##634#, then press the [Call] button.
3- A diagnostic mode screen in gray will show up.
4- Dial *#7284#, and press the [Call] button.
5- A Microsoft USB Test screen will show up which allows configuration of USB Path Control settings (options available is Zune Sync; Modem, Tethered Call; and Modem, USB Diag).
6- Select Modem, Tethered Call.
7- The phone will automatically restart to activate the setting.
8- Connect the phone to PC with a USB cable.
..and so on and so forth
However, when I tried to put it back to the zune/sync, it wouldn't work. I go back to the menu where it gives me the three choices of zune; tethering; and USB modem, and it shows that the phone is on the Zune sync option. However, when I plug in the USB cable into it, the computer doesn't recognize it - there's no charging involved, and the zune software doesn't open.
Additionally, when I try charging it to the plug that came with the package, the phone doesn't recognize that it's connected to that either and it still doesn't charge. Does anyone know what the issue is here?
I've tried multiple times to go back to the Path Control Settings menu and switch it to Zune Sync but nothing is happening to remedy the situation. Any pointers?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
A long shot but did you by chance set the Zune software to sync wireless ? You may need to set it to No or turn off wirless Sync.
Settings>Phone>Wireless Sync
Make sure your phone is connected and sign into Zune. Again only a long shot.
I'm 99.9% sure I didn't set it to wireless sync. I turned off the wireless on my phone to conserve battery as well.
Also, in order to check the wireless sync setting I need to connect my phone, which I have, but the computer nor the phone has registered the connection. (No sound made on either end, and the battery charge icon isn't showing)
Thanks though! A long shot is still a shot!
edit: FYI, I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. I'm not sure if that had anything to do with mucking up my phone as it did...
This sounds pretty strange. I have been changing from Modem to Zune back and forth and no problems at all.
I guess a Hard Reset will do the job for you. But I am not completely sure. Good luck.

Do I understand correctly that you cannot charge the phone with the wall charger?
If that's the case, it's probably an issue with your cord or the mini usb port.
Did you make any other changes while in Diagnostic mode? If you're not sure, check out this thread.

Yes, you understood correctly. I cannot charge the phone with the wall charger. It's the charger that came with it, so it's the charger that has a USB port. I've also tried using different USB cords unsuccessfully. :-/
I haven't made any other changes while in Diagnostic mode.
A hard reset is a last resort. Although I'd still want to figure out why it happened as opposed to just figuring out how to fix it to prevent something like this in the future.
Thanks guys!

I think the mini USB socket on your phone may be defective. Fortunately, the setup following a hard reset isn't nearly the task it was on WM...
So I tried a hard reset, and the thing still didn't work.
I'm assuming this is a hardware problem. Thankfully AT&T has the whole 30 day exchange thing going on.
They couldn't fix it there, so they did exchange it for a new one. The new one works. So yay!
Thanks for all your input peoples!
I have i5801 with android 2.1.
I had plugged in the phone to PC using the USB connector.
Had a power outage and pc got restarted.
Since then, something strange is happening on my phone. It keeps on displaying "USB Connected" on the top of screen, even when i have plugged out the phone from PC.
Not only this, i have restarted phoen multiple times and removed/inserted battery, it still keeps on showing USB connected at regular intervals (every 2 seconds) even though it is not connected , and phone switches off automatically!
Does anyone know the solution to this?
Try a factory reset and if it doesn't work try flashing another rom.
Sent from my GT-I5800 using XDA App

u have a big problem in hand
when u said that ur pc got restarted then it must have burnt the IC that controls the USB connection.
this IC is generally found attached. if it had burnt that u can recharge ur battery but u wnt be able to use any other PC connectivity functions.
sorry to say this but there is no way to fix this xcept giving it for servicing.
but bfore u give it u can dissemble it and have a look at the IC.
if it is burnt u will knw when u see it. no biggie
try this link to dissemble
