Will my dead pixel spread? - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hi,
I have an HTC Magic 32A and (unfortunately ) it has one dead pixel on the screen.
I cannot get a replacement since I bought an used phone.
I'm just wondering if my tiny ugly pixel will get spread or not?

I have the same problem, mine came with a dead pixel and couldn't be bothered with the hassle of replacing it. I have had the phone since May and so far it has just been that one.

it usually doesn't, unless you drop it. Then you get many dead pixels.

I asked HTC support service and they reply:
Thanks for contacting HTC.
With regards of your query, the dead pixel won't get spread out. You don't have to worry about it.

Sprint Touch still available?

On the website it is no longer there. So what i want to know is are they completely done with the phone? Cuz when I had a KRZR and broke it, my protection plan allowed me a new one, but they discontinued it and gave me a new Razor. So i was hoping i can "break" my current touch and maybe get a diamond cuz they aren't selling vogues anymore. Anyone know?
Considering the differences in the Razr and Krzr, compared to the Touch and Diamond, they could also give you something else, like a Mogul.
Ooooooooops!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we all 'get it,' but the chances are that you will NOT receive a diamond in exchange for your touch. As was pointed out, the insurance companies most likely have thousands of refurbished vogues and you would most likely get one of these and not a diamond.

ok, i have understood that since i made that post a week ago. why are people continuing with the post?
even if they dont sell the phone, they still have reconditioned ones in a depot, i have seen people come in with CDM 120's and they send the same model, esp on the phone like the touch, they send all the old phones back and refurb it most of the time its just and LCD or reflashing the phone
so as long as its economical for them to refurbish the phone they will

I think he means he just doesn't remember anything that could have caused this damage. other people have posted that their screen broke in their bag/pocket seemingly for no reason. I was concerned about this so I googled it and it turns out it happens to other phones too, but rarely. apparently pressure on the screen can do it. unfortunately warranties don't cover it.
or maybe he really was wasted and doesn't remember falling down those stars....

I'm pretty sure parts will become available soon, in the mean time you could buy a G1 from ebay to use short term and then sell it on when you find a screen.

but maybe he/she dropped it a few times which would have agitated the screen. Then maybe with the heat that builds up when charging, might have cracked the screen. Just a wierd theory. Let us know how it goes with htc.

I've been on this forum for about 3 weeks to a month now and i've seen your problem at least 2 other times now. Honesty pays off in this situation. They will ask for your IMEI number (i believe thats whats its called) and they will know that your not the originaly buyer of the phone.

They will fix it but it will cost money. I highly doubt they will do it for free because your not the original buyer. You won't know until you call and remember to be honest.
There are many reports of this happening, So don't feel too bad. However I've read that the warranty only applies to the original owner, and view may ask for proof of purchase. Sorry dude.

Phone got ran over

Hello everyone, my phone got ran over last night. Its actually still working fine, touchscreen and all but there are cracks in the lower screen. You cant actually feel them but if you tilt the phone or whatever you can. Last night it was like bleeding pink colors but now the entire phone is covered in like a pink and blue haze. I can't see much of anything but the touch screen still works. I know the bottom screen needs to be replaced. Does anyone know how about much this would cost to be repaired? Should I go to a local repair shop? Also what needs to be fixed exactly so I don't get hustled?
Your LCDs are bleeding (causing the "haze"), your digitizer is fine if the touchscreen is working, you need a new screen.
Here is an example of what you need replaced:
http://www.repairsuniverse.com/google-nexus-one-lcd-screen-replacement-display-amoled.html
You can do it yourself, but I would only attempt it if you're really good with that kind of stuff. But if you do want to do it yourself, here are some cheaper screens from eBay. And this guy on youtube has a good set of videos on how to replace the screen (45 videos). But again, this is going to take time and skill.
It says in the videos that he's replacing his digitizer. Should I just follow the same steps? Do you think its that difficult to do it by one's self? I'm pretty tech-savvy but I don't have any experience in cell phone repair. But I am a college student and saving a large amount of money on labor costs would be awesome
Doesnt nexus have amoled screen not lcd. Who stupid is thinking that every device haves crappy lcd like iphone.

Uh, I dont know the specifics. You might need to replace the entire digitizer (maybe it's all one part, and you cant just replace the screen). For sending it into HTC, someone on android forums said that:
I cracked my LCD last month, sent it in to HTC, cost $115 total including overnight shipping which HTC covers, was only phoneless for 4 days.

I appreciate the help. I just contacted a local repair shop and they said it would be $124. So I'm figuring it's worth it to pay the thirty dollars for the labor rather than screwing it up. Thanks though for pointing me in the right way
Yea, thats good. Personally, I wouldn't try to mess with all that internal stuff, too complicated for me and too many places I could screw up lol. No problem.

Lawsuit between HTC & Nokia?

This is news to me, but I received this email regarding my order for a HTC One.
Hi [redacted - me!],
Unfortunately I was provided with the incorrect information by our supplier last week!
I have just spoken to a member of management at Expansys (our supplier) and unfortunately been informed that due to a lawsuit between HTC and Nokia, there is currently a hold on this device. Expansys are a direct client of HTC, meaning they have not been provided with any more stock and currently struggling to re-stock on this device. Expansys will find out on the 7th May whether they will be stocking more of this device.
In the meantime I have place an order with Dabs, within 24 hours they will confirm delivery date. Should everything run smooth with Dabs.com, I will cancel our order with Expansys.
I will keep you posted [redacted - me!] and really sorry about this delay.
Regards,
[redacted - customer service chap(ess)]

Has anyone else heard of news regarding a HTC/Nokia lawsuit?
I want my One, damnit!
EDIT: Dabs.com don't have any stock, either.
As far as I know HTC has no dog in this fight, it's a company that supply a component exclusively to Nokia decided to sell it to HTC ,so no Nokia won't be dum to sue HTC .

I don't think the other threads mention that a supplier has stated that they cannot get the One because of the lawsuit. It is apparently having an impact on supplies.
But I agree it would have been better placed in the other xda thread.
I'm pretty sure the court dismissed the case so it shouldn't pose an issue for HTC

No, the court issued an injunction that keeps HTC from getting the microphone chip for 6 months. It was unclear from the press reports if HTC could continue building phones with their existing stock.
There is no delay anymore. HTC can still make phones with the existing stock of chips and have already received an alternative chip for it. Read it on engadget or something

I did read it. I have not seen stated the number of chips that HTC had when the injunction was issued.
As to alternate chips, I have read that HTC was studying the issue, not that they have found a solution.

Not sure exactly what you mean. The HTC Ones currently shipped used a microphone chip designed exclusively for Nokia products, with a 14 month clause saying it could not be sold to other manufacturers. A Netherlands judge just issued a worldwide injunction preventing HTC from using the microphone chip in their phones, at least for the next 6 months of time remaining in that exclusivity clause.
Gotcha...
