[SOLVED!] Any Language of WM5 on any Athena!

Hi guys, I just wanted to let you know that I have managed to translate 99% of all the WM5 interface to English or almost any language. The secret has been found long time ago by our friend Asukal: http://asukal.net/blog/
Some things like the battery panel, the soft keys on the Communication Manager are missing and others are not translated, maybe somebody can tell us how can we complete this work on the Athena.
Instructions:
1) Install ENG_mui.cab or any other desired language. Don't install ENG_Notifi_COM_BT or any other since they will change some settings.
2) Now you will notice that the Start Menu doesn't exist anymore! So go with the help of your keyboard to the File Explorer, go to /Windows and look for the folder on the Old Language that contains the Start Menu Folder, now rename it to: Start Menu. Then inside rename the folder that contains the Links to your programs to Programs and Create or Rename a Folder called Settings. All of them should be inside /Windows/Start Menu

Camera stopped working
The tweak works nice but camera application could not start. Will check further later. Meanwhile I have restored backup

I solved this by replacing /Windows/Camera.exe with one of the Camera.exe.* which size is 404 KBytes. Sorry but I can't remember the exact name.

where did you get the camera files from?

I got them from my /Windows directory they have been renamed by Asukal's translator. They have the extension: *.0404.mui
So the original file of Camera.exe (the one in Chinnese) has been renamed to Camera.exe.0404.mui, so once Asukal's CAB has been installed, rename Camera.exed to Camera.exe.old and rename Camera.exe.0404.mui to Camera.exe
In fact once you rename the working Camera.exe you will find a different Icon, like more "fashion". Hahaha!

Camera working now
I have the camera working now
I followed the instructions above, but before the procedure I created a folder on the storage card and copied all the file in the windows folder named camera for preservation
NB: I INSTALLED THE TWO CABS TO THE STORAGE CARD
ALL COPYING AND RE-NAMING WAS DONE WITH TOTAL COMMANDER
1. Ran the Language switcher cab and do a soft re-set.
2. May not be needed, but I started the switcher application and changed the language to English. Nothing changed of course
3. Installed the English mui and clicked ok for reset.
4. Copied all the camera files (4 of them, counting in Camera.exe.0413) to the Windows folder of device
5. Copied all content of the Windows sub-folders Start Menu and Programs from the old language Dutch in my case, to the new English folders.
6. Did same as in 5. for all the folders I wanted to re-name which would not take the new name
7.Camera works as normal, but I did not see the Microdrive to select in the initial settings. I believe that can be sorted with reg-edit or something else, but that is not important for me at the moment. Have not tested the front camera etc. I need to go and have a meal.
Am continueing to re-name the folders and checking the functions as I go along. Happy tweaking to all of you! Many thanks to Bogusiano and Wu.

Very good! I am happy for you! I think this the closest we can get until a WWE ROM for the Dopod U1000 is released, for me at least, this is enough to enjoy my device meanwhile!

I have WM 5 chinese edition, I installed the englsh mui, after that, the when i create a new sms, the sms application hangs. Therefore i am unable to create sms nor open smses.

Changing from Start to Begin. That is what I call a Major overhaul
Sorry for the noob question, but I used Resco Explorer and even though I found the shellres.dll.mui file (only by doing search), it doesn't allow me to do anything with it. How can I dump it to my SD card (or maybe modify it in situ)?
Do I need to dump the rom in order to extract it? (please say no...)
EDIT: Never mind. I got it!!
For those of you wondering on how to do it, you need the following tools:
1. ResHack
2. ROM Extractor (found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2686907#post2686907)
a. Extract the shellres.dll.0409.mui from \Wndows (replace 0409 for your device code) with ROM extractor
b. Dump the file in Windows and open it up with ResHack
c. Look for the String Data folder 321 and open it. Once there, you will see the word "Start." Just replace it for whatever you want.
d. Copy the file back using ActiveSync. File explorers will not allow you to copy over a system file in use.
e. Soft Reset.
f. Enjoy

Extract the shellres.dll.0409.mui from \Wndows you will only have this file if you have installed a M&M wait cusor the original file is shellres.dll.0409 if uk or us

i already had that,must be cooked into the rom,but i can easily do a HR and retry til i perfect it

Shellres.dll.0409.mui attached. This is from HTC Kaiser (WWE stock 6.1 ROM), extracted after installing M&M wait cusor...

I believe that you got the wrong file. The one that needs to be modified is shellres.dll.0409.mui and NOT shellres.96.dll.0409.mui. Try that, it should work just fine. I have attached mine. I have a Blue Angel with WM6.1 build 19693.

No, shellres is different for devices and 0409 is US localization, for singapore you might have shellres.96.dll.1234.mui (just an example, i know that's not true...)
MarshallSkins and his(her? ) waitcursor skin is a shellres.dll.mui file with different animations, you need this because you cannot directly copy the shellres.dll file from the ROM...

How do I transfer shellres.dll.0409 using WMDC? Even with Activesync, but how? It gives me the same error message. Can someone show me step by step please?

HTC EnlargeStartmenu on Xperia

I installed HTC Enlarge startmenu on the Xperia because it makes the startmenu and menues bigger and easier to use with fingers. But on the start menu I got the ordinary swedish icons for program and settings - but I also get the english icons and when pressing them nothing happens. How can I remove them or is there a "swedish" version of of the cab floating around ?

Got the same thing here, but i think i know why, there is different files in the swedish version of enlarge startmeny.cab, but i cant find it on the xda forum, maybe you could help me raise the question where to get it...

replace 0409mui enlarge start with the swedish one named 041D in windows folder, then delete the other one named 0409, restart and voila!

This is a similar problem: I installed the "htc_ezinputxt9.cab" to get HTC's T9 phone input SIP, which worked properly. But after the installation, I no longer get word suggestions when typing with the slide-out QWERTY. Does anyone know a fix for this? Thanks

THE same, as U said, goto windows folder look up ezinput 0409 or whats its name, rename to 041d and then go to settings input and change language!!!
almost every thing called 0409 in win dir should be 041d for sweden versions of files, so download a rom and extract the content and copy the mui files thats named 041d...

Thanks! But the problem isn't with the actual EZInput, but when using the *keyboard*. I used to get word suggestions, and then you could press TAB+Space to select the word, but after EZInput they don't pop-up anymore...

For me it works great in portait mode but switching to landscape the "program" part of the menu is not there

I've installed the enlarge start menu but sometimes when i restart the start menu goes right back to the same size and then i have to reinstall to get the enlarged start menu again. Has anyone had this problem?

does that for me too. randomly works/doesn't work. but I use SPB Mobile Shell 3 now so I don't really have to use start menu for anything.

Hi guys,
Thanks to Pool_13 I send you the mui file in spanish. After installing the program, you have to copy this file in the windows folder and deleting the original one. Soft reset and done.

I'm searching for a german version too!

Dutch file for manila 3d translation

Hello,
I am looking for the manila file that contains the dutch translation of the calendar text. Right now I see IDS_TOMORROW on the touchflow3d calendar while it should say "Morgen". I have found a thread about the german manila file, but not the dutch one. Does anyone know which file I need to edit to add this translation?
Edit: ok, found the file and fixed the translation. You need to add the following:
<trans-unit id="IDS_TOMORROW">
<source>Morgen</source>
</trans-unit>
to the file /windows/7a56f756_manila

Nope, it is the right one. Are you using Resco explorer? you might have Resco set to hide hidden or rom files. Change that in the settings of resco and you will see the file.

Why dont you just change the language of the TFLO3d.
I run a german rom and an English tflo3d
Dimond TF3D Config did that for me.

My TF3D is already Dutch, but for calendar appointments for tomorrow (in Dutch, tomorrow = "morgen"), it displays IDS_TOMORROW.

It took me a while to get it done as well. The best way to do it is to get the file on your desktop system, edit it, and then replace the original. You will probably have to do that through the SD. First copy the file to the SD card, then drag it to your desktop. Edit it. Save it back to SD card and then using resco file explorer replace the original file.
If you can't get it done, let me know, I can upload my manila file so you can replace the original one.

How can i understand which file i have to modify?because in registry i saw that my Local is en-GB and i used "EN-GB 333c03cb_manila" but nothing changed.I modified this <trans-unit id="IDS_DATEFORMAT" and this <trans-unit id="IDS_DATEFORMAT_SMALLVIEW">

copy 333c03cb_manila from device (back this up)
rename to 333c03cb_manila.txt so that it opens with notepad
open 333c03cb_manila.txt with notepad
look for IDS_DATEFORMAT, and modify the date format
<source>d/MM/yy ,ddd</source>
save 333c03cb_manila.txt
rename to 333c03cb_manila and copy back to device (overwrite existing)
restart Manilla

That is exactly what i'm doing, may be i have to modify another file for en-GB?

I modified for myself EN-US 2c89bd29_manila and it is OK.
EN-GB I did not test, I do not have such ROM (only WWE )

EN-GB would be english great britain and EN-US would be english United States. i.e. change this in regional settings

In my registry local is en-gb, but when i modified en-us everything is Ok.
