MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL.......
no one know?
You will need to show all hidden files and folders and all protected OS files on your PC. You can do this in the Organise>Folders and Search options (in windows 7) In Vista i cant remember off hand.
Merry Xmas
I noticed exactly the same thing today! I don't know how to solve this or if it can be solved
But don't worry, you are not the only person. I can only view the windows folder from the device file explorer
I have exactly the same problem. I need access to this folder to do some cleaning up. The chore is too cumbursome on the phone. I really need to know how to access this folder on my computer. Anyone?
Open up file explorer on your pc, and browse to your phones windows folder, then press alt, and a set of menus will appear along the top of the window, click tools - folder options - move to the 'view' tab, scroll down the list and check 'show hidden files folders and drives', then scroll a little further and untick hide protected operating system files.
The phones windows folder should then be visible.

Hi I am trying to install sqlce3.5 on a rom which dosen't have cf2.0 (cabs don't work) so I was thinking of manually copying the dll files to the windows folder to see what happens but I cant figure out how to access the windows folder from my pc (windows 7 RC if that matters) any ideas?
Via active sync choose the 'explore' options under 'tools' then a window will pop up. The default directory will be your documents folder what you need to do is go up one directory which will then be your device's root folder. Then from there you'll see the windows folder.
on windows 7 you have to use device manager and when i choose browse device it take to me choose either phone memory or memory card, if i choose phones memory the windows folder is not present and it cannot be seen even if i choose show hidden folders.
any ideas?
After device has sync'ed with pc, just open up your file explorer on your pc. Open 'My Computer' and then scroll down to 'Mobile Device'. If you expand this you should be presented with a list. Open 'My Windows Mobile-Based Device' and scroll down to 'Windows'
Thats the problem I am having I can get to the root just fine but when I am there the windows folder is not present like it is hidden, using view hidden folders dosen't help and typing in the path gets an error message saying it does not exist. I wanted to do this through windows but i suppose I will have to do it through the phones browser instead.

Open your file explorer on your pc, go to Tools > Folder Options > View and make sure 'Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)' is unticked
Other than this I'm not sure why its not showing

I wanted to move some programs to the start folder, so everyone says drag it into the windows>..... folder, but I cant see the windows folder when browsing on my pc, Ive got show hidden file&folders enabled but still no luck
The Windows folder doesn't show up via ActiveSync.
If the files are on your PC you need to first dump them in a folder on your phone that you can see on the computer, then on your phone copy those files over to \Windows.

And then find windows with something with rescoexplorer?
Sure, you can use Resco but the standard file explorer will work too unless you are trying to overwrite protected system files.

is there no way to get the windows folder to show?? seems to be a real drag if you cant access it via WMDC or AS...
Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options > View
Uncheck "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"
this is not the "Show hidden files and folders" setting..

Hey,
I'm having trouble accessing the Windows folder of my device when browsing via my pc. When I browse using WMDC file explorer I cant see the Windows folder. Is there a way to access it?
-Thanks
on your PC - open file manager, press alt - t. This should bring up the tools menu, choose folder options, switch to 'view' tab, scroll down,
Tick 'show hidden files and folders'
scroll
untick 'hide protected operating system files'
click apply(bottom), then click 'apply to folders'(top)
Thanks a lot
no problem.
When you do browse the windows folder on the phone from the pc, dont be surprised that it takes quite a while to populate the file list, it isn't your phone, its a known issue of winmo. Personally i find it easier to use filemanager on the phone (well, resco, ) and copy files to and from the windows folder from there, and use the pc file manager just to copy to other folders and the sd card.

What are you using to copy and paste??
You should use file explorer or one of the 3rd party file tools to copy and "Paste Shortcut"
You browse your device to the program directory and copy and the browse to /windows/Start Menu/Programs and either past it there or into the folder of your choice under that ...
You can also do a cut and paste if you just want to move an existing shortcut ..
and just to be sure , we are talking about the "start menu" what you get when you hit the windows key?
Hi,when i hit the window key,i get a list of all the program installed such market place, you tube,email,messenger...
I would like to have igo and solitaire there as well.
on my pc i can't see the folder windows for the htc,so i directly copy and paste from the phone and it doesn't work.

You have to do it ON the phone, and paste shortcut not just paste ...
also if you cannot see the windows folder on your pc, you need to select activesync as your connection type, your phone will show up in your Computer, if your phone is not asking you what type of connection when you plug it in you go to
Settings>connections>USB to PC, and check the bottom box that says "Ask me ......"
It is no different than creating shortcuts on your pc, but it has to be done ON the phone with file explorer or the like ....
I do it alot so I know these steps do work ...

as said above, you should be doing this on the phone, not the pc.
start - file manager - menu - show all files - browse to windows - find solitaire.exe - press and hold - choose 'copy' - scroll back up and click the folder start menu - press and hold blank area of screen - choose 'paste shortcut'
press home hard key, find a blank quicklink, press it, now you should see your shortcut available.
As for why you cant see your windows folder on the PC, , , open up file manager on the PC, browse to your phone - click tools - folder options - change to 'view' tab - scroll down the list and TICK 'show hidden files and folders' and UNTICK 'hide protected operating system files'
