Appointments saving in December 2010 - HD2 General

See other thread
Hi - anyone having this issue or can you replicate it?
I've just installed the calendar fix (saying that, I don't know if this issue existed before the fix) and now, any new appointments I create all save in December 2010, irrespective of the month
Eg January 12 recurring every Jan 12 appears in December 12 2010...and again in 2011 but actually appears on January 12 in 2013!

Hi. Yeah, it's a known issue even without installing the calendar fix. The only way to "solve" it for the moment is to create an appointment and set it as NOT recurring. Then open and edit the appointment and set hoe many times it'll repeat. All as described in this post.

Give a try

As a temporary solution, you can use native Windows Calendar to add appointments. They will be displayed in HTC Calendar respectively to the date set.

DST applied patch, but all alarms are an hour early (fix?)

I applied the cingular 8525 patch for DST.
Yes my time adjusted fine, but now all my alarms go off an hour early.
So my 11am alarm goes off at 10am even though it says 11am.
This happens in both Schema and informant.
I don't understand why, but if someone could help me solve this it would be great.
Because the update just tells the clock to subtract 1 hour less from UTC
three weeks earlier. (oops make that '1 hour more')
Most calendar programs record their entires for appointments etc. in raw UTC (ie. without the relative time zone adjustment). Remember DST is only time manipulation there isn't really a "lost hour".
Example: you created an appointment for 9 AM on 3/14/07 last week and you're in the central time zone UTC -6. The program then saves the appointment with a starting time of 15:00 UTC not knowing it has to add an additional hour until after April 1 to it's appointments because local time is now UTC -7. So 15:00 UTC rolls around and the alarm goes off. Only now the local time is now UTC -7 15-7= 8 AM
A lot of calendar programs have this problem until the begining of old DST. It could be worse- I have several clients that exclusively use the "all day function" (0:00 UTC -6 to 24:00 UTC -6) and now for three weeks everything lasts two days.
See if the vendor has an update. MS had one for outlook that was supposed to adjust dates in the WM calendar but I saw one report this morning that improperly patched or configured exchange servers are screwing it up (complicating matters: the time zone is not a gpo and if improperly set (to 'central america' rather than 'central time') the change doesn't happen).
I applied the fix that microsoft released before the DST came about to my users and all worked and tested all ok.
I have niced that a few of the users that have got lots of calendar entries i had to sync the device with the server after removing all data via active sync.
D
So worst case since I have applied the fix,
New apointments I add and apointments next year should not have problems.
Just my old ones?
Similar happened to me but everything went an hour later and the time change never happened
MS Technet blog has some mealy mouthed explainations
The upshot: DST patching was not our finest hour and we're still endeavoring the issue.
What kills me is M$ had almost TWO FULL YEARS to fix this and it's clear they didn't build a comprehensive test environment. Nor did they bother to build a proper updating tool or mechanism. Even religiously applied updates didn't work.
Not to mention that unless MS provides a WM5 AKU with the change built in there are a lot of people running around with phones that will revert to old DST rules after every hard reset.

TF3D does not update appointments - big problem

Hello @ all,
this is my first post and that is why I would like to say "hello" to everybody first
My touch HD arrived last week and I am very happy with it, but I do have a big problem that goes on my nerves!
When I add new appointments, TouchFlo3D shows the appointments just one day before, saying: Tomorrow:...
Ok, let's say, I have an appointment today at 7 pm and I had one this morning from 9 to 10 am. Now, it is quarter past three (where I live) and the Touch HD still shows me the morning appointment instead of not displaying it as it is already over.
When I now start the calendar and edit an appointment, as for example the evening appointment from today and save all changes, then TF3D updates and only shows the appointment at 7 pm.
Why doesn't it update the appointments by itself? It cannot be the intention to either restart the device or to edit something in the calender, can it?
yes, have the same probs.
Appointment from 9-10 o´clock and at 10:30 o´clock the appointment still at the home tab. The bigger problem is, when you are have the sound-option "vibrate on appiontments" active, the vibration is at 10:30 still activated without an appointment around 10:30
same problem here......
Damn...well, I do not have remind functions activated...but nonetheless, it is not acceptable the way it is.
But according to http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/forumdisplay.php?f=211 many german user do not have this problem. I'm suprised that it works in many cases correctly. So what could it be? I hard resetted the device three times already but no change.
same problem here. I checked the date settings (didn't change anything) and went back to the home tab though, everything was ok....!!!
It is annoying, but is corrected when I update and save another meeting, then the old meeting disappears finally from TF3D. Seems to be a problem updating between the Winmobile calendar app and TF3D. So either MS or HTC have to come up with a fix.
I've the same problem and i am a german user
Switching trough the tabs or reactivate Tf3D will fix it here.sometimes a restart from the device also works.difficulty to say
Appointments do not update
I have the same problem. I had an all-day event marked in my calendar for yesterday. This morning it was still showing on the TFL3D today screen.
I went into the calendar and came back out to see if the appointments would update, but they didn't.
Had to soft-reset for the appointments to update. Surely HTC don't expect people to soft-reset every morning so that the appointments update? Has anyone worked out a fix for this? Mr HTC, please can you fix this!
Qas
Same problem here.
If I close TF3D and load it again, the calendar is ok.

My HD with DUTCH language has the same problems After a few calls to HTC Europe in UK its now finally registered as a known issue and I'm assured that they work on a hotfix to solve this worldwide problem.
A temporary work-around is to programm a daily 'empty' appointment from 0.00 till 0.00 without any alarms or whatever. It will show up on your hometab like all the other appointments, but it will trigger it to refresh the data each morning the 0.00 passes.

same problem here, i just added a 0.00 to 0.00 apportionment, will let everyone know if it work by tomorrow. Thx michedenhaag for the fix
One week visibility
Do you know if it is possible two have one week visibility for the upcoming events on the home of the TF3D instead of one day ?
I've the same problem and also with my mail. I let my device retreive mail every 10 min from an Imap account. But when I turn on the device then it sounds and vibrates that there is new mail. But with TF3d off it will ring as soon as my mail enters the box. So I think that TF3D has a bug with updating from the registry.
Another user with the same issue. And just like sstolk, I also noticed that emails and sms messages only update after I unlock (as in resume from standby) the device.
Another one and the same problem....
i have the same problem, i hope for a fix.
A possible (temporary I hope) solution is to rely on ActiveSync.
Create a fake exchange profile in ActiveSync and set it to update every 5 minutes (might create a connection, unsure). From what I saw so far, every "sync" forces TF3D to update. Might not be foolproof, but for now it has worked for me.
Ok, the last suggestion turned out to be false hope.
But I have a new theory. My TF3D calendar worked just fine for 3 days now (without any resets). What changed? I have not connected the phone to my PC during these three days. So the new theory is that when syncing stuff over activesync TF3D somehow fails to reconnect to the database - turning it off and on after a sync might perhaps solve the issue.
Still haven't found a permanent fix for this...
Anyone else experiencing it? Any idea how to fix it?
Let's hope they post a fix soon! If anyone finds a solution, please post it in this thread.

Wrong Date

On my HD calendar Good Friday is shown as the Thursday before, Easter on the Saturday and Easter Monday on Sunday. Also a few other national holiday are a day earlier. Christmas and New Year are OK. I syncronize it with Outlook 2002 on my PC and the dates there are correct.
Any ideas how to fix it?
Solution
After a few hours of fiddling around I did get it to work. I am not sure what exactly did it but here what I did: first I downloaded the latest DST patches from Microsoft for both the HD and Outlook 2002. At this point after syncronizing still the dates were right on the pc and one day early on the HD. Then I clicked off the "adjust for dst" on the pc which now caused Outlook to display the holiday on the right date AND one day early! At this point I deleted all the Holidays and the readded them with the dst off and synced. IT NOW DISPLAYED DATE CORRECTED. I am not sure if it would have worked without the patches but I am not touching anything any more!

I can imagine
I have a simular (?) problem:
On my calendar at work I have added a repeating appointment till 31-12-2009, every Tuesday, 10:00 o’clock.
I sync my HD with this exchange server.
Now, on my HD it starts ok, but per 31-3 it’s suddenly scheduled at 9:00. At 27-10 it shifts back to 10:00 …
Somehow DST seems to throw in an offset of an hour.
What can I say? I hope the people I have those appointments with, do have a HTC Touch HD (or windows mobile) as well

Calendar acting up

I have a Nordic Magic and was happy when HTC posted a ROM update 27/10. But discovered that it only was a localization update and not a 1.6 update.
But there was a major bug in the update. I sync with exchange.
When i went in to the calendar the top bar whit the date says "8. November 2009 PLACEHOLDERplaceholder" and when I create an new appointment the date selector says "8. November 2009 PLACEHOLDERplaceholder".
I cal live with this but recurring appointments show up one hour early. That makes the phone useless to me.
Tried to install a ROM form here, but the damned thing is "perfect" and "impossible for flash with a custom ROM.
Anny suggestions on what to do?
HTC says they have noted the complaint...

htc hd 2 - Calendar problem ---- repeat event

I have just noticed this and a bit annoyed
I am setting up family/friends birthdays on my HTC HD 2 and ive noticed an error
HTC Calendar
Birthday say 18th December 2010
Repeat every 18th December
For somereaosn it won't show anything against this date in the month/week view.
To get it to work you have to go into the windows calendar under start etcand put it in there and then you can see it in the htc calendar
VERY STRANGE, CAN SOMEONE TRY IT FOR ME

same issue.
I set it up with the correct details, but didnt add the repeat.
It added it to htc calendar. then go and edit, adding the repeat, and it stays there.
Yeah tried that and it works but you shouldn't have to do this.

It was impossible for me to set and quarterly appointment. Any suggestions?
noticed the same, and found somewhat of a fix.
Set the appointment for the day you want it without repeat. then edit it and turn repeat on with the frequency that you wish. it should work.
Also, if you tried to put a repeating appointment and nothing appearead, check 1st of janyary 2011, with my phone i had all the failed attempts magically moved there.
I had a similar problem.
Tried to save a friend's birthday on December 15th. So it was an all-day event, recurring every 15th of Dec., status free. Result? I couldn't see it... I gave it up to 5-6 tries, as far as I remmbered.
However, I've later realised that all of the 6 or whatever shots were saved... on January 15th!
I've notified HTC about this. They said they'll look into it!
In my opinion, it's worth you'll let them know as well

Is there any way to quickly jump to a date? I can only scroll it day by day or month by month.

Another person with the same problem - a really annoying bug. As Rhyn0 said all the appointments have been created on the right date, just in January 2011.
This is with the 1.66 ROM - where do i send a bug report? - EDIT: emailed them about it.
same here, appointments are there (myphone and standard calendar recognize them) but htc calendar is not showing anything on that particular day.
if you add a birthday to a contact, that shows up where it should.

I'm sorry, what do you mean? most of my contacts have birthdays and I use b2c (birthday2calendar) to add them as appointments, which works fine, except that now I don't see them in my htc calendar (neither do I see manually added appointments). But they are there, so it must be a bug in htc calendar.
