htc hd 2 - Calendar problem ---- repeat event - HD2 General

I have just noticed this and a bit annoyed
I am setting up family/friends birthdays on my HTC HD 2 and ive noticed an error
HTC Calendar
Birthday say 18th December 2010
Repeat every 18th December
For somereaosn it won't show anything against this date in the month/week view.
To get it to work you have to go into the windows calendar under start etcand put it in there and then you can see it in the htc calendar
VERY STRANGE, CAN SOMEONE TRY IT FOR ME

same issue.
I set it up with the correct details, but didnt add the repeat.
It added it to htc calendar. then go and edit, adding the repeat, and it stays there.

Yeah tried that and it works but you shouldn't have to do this.

It was impossible for me to set and quarterly appointment. Any suggestions?

noticed the same, and found somewhat of a fix.
Set the appointment for the day you want it without repeat. then edit it and turn repeat on with the frequency that you wish. it should work.
Also, if you tried to put a repeating appointment and nothing appearead, check 1st of janyary 2011, with my phone i had all the failed attempts magically moved there.

I had a similar problem.
Tried to save a friend's birthday on December 15th. So it was an all-day event, recurring every 15th of Dec., status free. Result? I couldn't see it... I gave it up to 5-6 tries, as far as I remmbered.
However, I've later realised that all of the 6 or whatever shots were saved... on January 15th!
I've notified HTC about this. They said they'll look into it!
In my opinion, it's worth you'll let them know as well

Is there any way to quickly jump to a date? I can only scroll it day by day or month by month.

Another person with the same problem - a really annoying bug. As Rhyn0 said all the appointments have been created on the right date, just in January 2011.
This is with the 1.66 ROM - where do i send a bug report? - EDIT: emailed them about it.

same here, appointments are there (myphone and standard calendar recognize them) but htc calendar is not showing anything on that particular day.

if you add a birthday to a contact, that shows up where it should.

I'm sorry, what do you mean? most of my contacts have birthdays and I use b2c (birthday2calendar) to add them as appointments, which works fine, except that now I don't see them in my htc calendar (neither do I see manually added appointments). But they are there, so it must be a bug in htc calendar.

Weird Behaviour tytn calendar & Reminder

I have a an intermittent problem on my Tytn. Every so often I put a Monday calendar entry in, then when I look later at the Today screen I find that although the appointment time is correct the day is showing as Tuesday. When I look in the calendar it is entered correctly as Monday.
Anyone any idea why this happens?
Thanks,

This is a well reported problem and may have something to do with time zones. You will need to search here and on google. Possible searches to include 1 day and 1 hour outllook wm5 calendar etc.
Mike
If the meeting is after 3 or 4 days (for example) my tytn will always show MEETING TOMORROW. why is it so?
Try the google search on sticky above. When I just tried there were a few. For example:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=271325
Oh, and this is a general WM5 issue so don't limit search to Hermes or even just this forum.
Oh and!!, also check the "1 hour" out error because one hour out takes an all day appt into the next day - so the two things can be related.

TF3D does not update appointments - big problem

Hello @ all,
this is my first post and that is why I would like to say "hello" to everybody first
My touch HD arrived last week and I am very happy with it, but I do have a big problem that goes on my nerves!
When I add new appointments, TouchFlo3D shows the appointments just one day before, saying: Tomorrow:...
Ok, let's say, I have an appointment today at 7 pm and I had one this morning from 9 to 10 am. Now, it is quarter past three (where I live) and the Touch HD still shows me the morning appointment instead of not displaying it as it is already over.
When I now start the calendar and edit an appointment, as for example the evening appointment from today and save all changes, then TF3D updates and only shows the appointment at 7 pm.
Why doesn't it update the appointments by itself? It cannot be the intention to either restart the device or to edit something in the calender, can it?
yes, have the same probs.
Appointment from 9-10 o´clock and at 10:30 o´clock the appointment still at the home tab. The bigger problem is, when you are have the sound-option "vibrate on appiontments" active, the vibration is at 10:30 still activated without an appointment around 10:30
same problem here......
Damn...well, I do not have remind functions activated...but nonetheless, it is not acceptable the way it is.
But according to http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/forumdisplay.php?f=211 many german user do not have this problem. I'm suprised that it works in many cases correctly. So what could it be? I hard resetted the device three times already but no change.
same problem here. I checked the date settings (didn't change anything) and went back to the home tab though, everything was ok....!!!
It is annoying, but is corrected when I update and save another meeting, then the old meeting disappears finally from TF3D. Seems to be a problem updating between the Winmobile calendar app and TF3D. So either MS or HTC have to come up with a fix.
I've the same problem and i am a german user
Switching trough the tabs or reactivate Tf3D will fix it here.sometimes a restart from the device also works.difficulty to say
Appointments do not update
I have the same problem. I had an all-day event marked in my calendar for yesterday. This morning it was still showing on the TFL3D today screen.
I went into the calendar and came back out to see if the appointments would update, but they didn't.
Had to soft-reset for the appointments to update. Surely HTC don't expect people to soft-reset every morning so that the appointments update? Has anyone worked out a fix for this? Mr HTC, please can you fix this!
Qas
Same problem here.
If I close TF3D and load it again, the calendar is ok.

My HD with DUTCH language has the same problems After a few calls to HTC Europe in UK its now finally registered as a known issue and I'm assured that they work on a hotfix to solve this worldwide problem.
A temporary work-around is to programm a daily 'empty' appointment from 0.00 till 0.00 without any alarms or whatever. It will show up on your hometab like all the other appointments, but it will trigger it to refresh the data each morning the 0.00 passes.

One week visibility
Do you know if it is possible two have one week visibility for the upcoming events on the home of the TF3D instead of one day ?
I've the same problem and also with my mail. I let my device retreive mail every 10 min from an Imap account. But when I turn on the device then it sounds and vibrates that there is new mail. But with TF3d off it will ring as soon as my mail enters the box. So I think that TF3D has a bug with updating from the registry.
Another user with the same issue. And just like sstolk, I also noticed that emails and sms messages only update after I unlock (as in resume from standby) the device.
Another one and the same problem....
i have the same problem, i hope for a fix.
A possible (temporary I hope) solution is to rely on ActiveSync.
Create a fake exchange profile in ActiveSync and set it to update every 5 minutes (might create a connection, unsure). From what I saw so far, every "sync" forces TF3D to update. Might not be foolproof, but for now it has worked for me.
Ok, the last suggestion turned out to be false hope.
But I have a new theory. My TF3D calendar worked just fine for 3 days now (without any resets). What changed? I have not connected the phone to my PC during these three days. So the new theory is that when syncing stuff over activesync TF3D somehow fails to reconnect to the database - turning it off and on after a sync might perhaps solve the issue.
Still haven't found a permanent fix for this...
Anyone else experiencing it? Any idea how to fix it?
Let's hope they post a fix soon! If anyone finds a solution, please post it in this thread.

Contact's Birthdate in Calendar

Is there anyway to enable the way when I typed in any Contact's Birthdate and it will automatically show in Calendar which i don't need to add it for the 2nd time in Calendar???
You don't have to add the birthday again manually.
It will automatically become an ALL DAY EVENT for that day itself.

If you are will to spend 15 EUR, go for Thumbcal, it automatically includes birthdays as events in your calendar. If you don't wanna spend that sum, search for a tool named Darkanniv on Modaco or Google.
http://www.smartphone-freeware.com/download-ct-birthday-v0-9.html
I requested something similar as well. I would also like my phone to have an actual notification sound on bdays. I will try that CT bday exe
update: ct birfday doesnt install on wm6.5 i guess. Installation of cab always unsuccessful. maybe i should reboot both my systems.
is there any way to show up the contact's birthdate without adding any 3rd party app? i know there is a way which mentioned in the previous post, which is through outlook sync, but i don't use outlook as well, any help?
Well there's a pretty easy way to do it but you need to do just a little bit more work. I do this and it's pretty easy. All you need to do is go to the exact birthdate of your contact so say James was born on 15th March 1985, So i would go to 15th March 1985 and set up his birthday there as a recurring all day event with Alarm. Now not only will your phone alert you of the birthday every year but it will also tell you how many years old he is that year with the age in brackets... Third party software like thumbcal really makes things easy but it's not necessary once you're used to doing this...

hahaha, what a cute way to solve this problem, although i know it'll take a longer time to do it, but i think it works, thx anyway, but i do really hope to have an easier way which when i insert it to contact's birthday and it will automatically show up in calendar, thx for the method, will try out then
Sync with Outlook
Outlook looks at contact birthdays and automatically puts them in your calendar. When you sync, they'll be there on your device calendar as well

Not that I'm aware of

Calender Issues for recurring appointments

I have been trying to enter birthday as an all day and recurring appointment.
When you do this for the month that it is (ie. if i do it for december atm). Its fine. When I try to jump forward to January and set another 'all day' and recurring appointment (recurring on the same day every year), nothing happens after I press the 'done' softkey (I mean it goes to the day screen, but has no appointment added). I can only make an appointment if i do it as an 'all day' and 'does not repeat' and then go back and edit it to be recurring. Bit of a pain when you want enter birthdays for the year ahead.
Anyone got this problem or know a solution?
Tks
i have this issue as well i did let htc know about it with a long list if other problems. they then started investigating the sms problems and now they have "enough data" for a hotfix they want to close the ticket, not sure though if they meant to fix this issue as well.
As for a workaround make a non-repeating appointment, fill in all data as you want it but just a single appointment save it then edit it to make it repeating, worked for me at least.
Thanks mate
I gathered the way to get round it but it just another thing that seems not to work properly on this phone. I so want to believe its a good phone but I keep finding these bugs which make me lose faith. Anyhow, my 14 day returns ran out today so I'm stuck with it for the next 18 months! HTC and wm7 better sort it out.
I hear that, I'm in the same situation, however I don't think I would take it back overall it is a nice piece of kit just too many bugs. been thinking about getting a no hassle replacement but I really don't think it'd do anything, just need to wait for htc to do the patches, then for wm7
I have taken to using the WM 6.5 calendar when adding or editing things. This is not a WM 6.5 issue it is an issue with the Sense UI calendar. Go to Start -> outlook folder-> calendar. You get much better functionality its just not as finger friendly or pretty.
Weird thing is that when you try to enter these 'all day, yearly recurring events' nothing happens in the sense UI calender nor the outlook calender (having entered via the sense UI calender), but if you sync with my phone you get all the phantom events in that calender!

No Full Day Appointment on Default Lock Screen

Guys,
Did anyone notice that when you set your appointment to Full Day, it will not appear on the stock Lock Screen, it will only show appointment with Start Time and End Time.
Any solution to that?

Yes it's true........any solution?
Also noticed this... bummer...
I though about contacting HTC for this one, but since the lock screen is a WinMo default, they don't have anything to do with it...
However, maybe there is a reg tweak someone found regarding what to show or not to show on the lock screen?
I think they did that on purpose. To show your next appointment just before it. What they didn't consider is if you have two appointments in a row. The second appointment will show when your second meeting has started, which is too late.
They should consider this:
I have two or three appointments, set as tentative, that are running in the same time. This means, if I understand correctly, that I will basically choose one of them to attend to. However, if I only want to remember which appointments are next (so I'll quickly turnon the screen, the lock screen pop-up up and shows some quick calendar info), I can only see one of them, thus completely forgeting about the rest of them...
Now I'm sure they could have found a better way of doing this!
For some reason, if an all day event was not set via HD2 for example on a web browser, I dont even see an all day event at all in any views (day, week or month).

I'm not quite sure I understand how you set an event in the Web Browser... Are you talking about OWA here? If so, you should check your ActiveSync server configuration settings. Maybe the app. are not downloaded because you chose not to sync them with your server! Or maybe you are using the Peak Time feature, and you've tried to create an appointment outside the peak time: the result is that you'll see the appointment in your phone only after:
1. you manually Send/Receive
2. you wait for the automatical Send/Receive to occur
3. you get into the Peak time
Hope it helps!

Sorry should of made it clearer. I am using Exchange server. I have push enabled, so auto send/receive. If I set an all day event using OWA, this does not show on HD2, if however I set an all day event on the HD2 it shows on both the server and phone. ROM 1.43 was fine, however 1.48 has this bug. I also have a touch pro and Omina 2 which also work fine.

This is what I just did:
- i've created an all day event for today and an event that starts at 11:45 AM, today. Both were synced with my phone, after I've pressed the Sync button in ActiveSync, so this works.
- afterwards, I've created an event that will start on 14:00, and waited for it to be synced with my phone (so NO manual Sync) -> worked like a charm.
- since the two app from above were created using the Office Outlook app. from my laptop, I've now created an app. from OWA, which starts on 12:30. Once again, there it is. I've also created an all-day app. for tomorrow from OWA: worked again!
Could you please detail on what date and which options are selected for you app. that doesn't appear in the phone calendar?
Good luck!

Hi, any other appointments except all day events work fine. All day appointments for either today or any day in the future (if set via OWA) do not show on the calendar on the HD. What ROM are you running, because I didnt have this problem with 1.43 rom only 1.48.

1.48.405.2 (71294) here. I've just deleted the exchange account and tried again. It still wont sync all day events. Bloody annoying. Oh and phone rang and crashed. My patience is being tested!
Uhm...
Phone crashing while calling: that a new one...
As for the sync issue, do you have a second Exchange account you could test? Surely, using a different server.
Also, what version of Exchange do you use?
