Try
\Program Files\[<Your program's Developer>\]<Your Program Name>
(Start-> File Explorer -> Up (lower left corner)->Up->Up->Up->. . . .->Up->Program Files . . .)

Also if you still cant find it, hook it up to your pc, and then use the windows (if you have windows) built in search, and then search for the file name and then you'll know where it is in the future

Some of the shortcuts in the start menu are actually folders (Multimedia, for example.)
Have you looked in them for the apps you installed? Also, some apps don't have shortcuts in the programs folder. TouchResponse, for example, just runs all the time. There's a shortcut in settings, but nothing in the start menu root.
You probably just need to hunt round. If you could tell us for sure what you're missing then someone on here will definitely have installed it previously and be able to help you.

Help, newly installed programs not displayed in "Add/Remove Programs"!

This problem has happened to me a few times with different ROMs but I haven't be able to find the pattern nor the solution!
Basically everything starts very well, when I install a new program it appears in "Add/Remove Programs" in Settings. Then at some point strange thing happens, when I install a new program (any program, not specific) it no longer appears on the list! However, I can see it as installed and it actually appears on the "Add/Remove Programs" of ActiveSync(v4.2)! I can remove it by using ActiveSync but not on the device because I can't select it!
And the other strange thing is, I can see the program's folder under "\Windows\AppMgr\" (every program installed manually should has its folder in here as I understand). And I can also see it under the registry "\HKLM\Security\AppInstall\". It just DOES NOT appear on the device "Add/Remove Programs" list! This happens to all programs after the problem starts but those installed before that point are still displayed!
I am wondering if anyone knows the reason why this happens and if there is any solution like registry hack anything like? Although this is not the end of the day as I can still remove them via ActiveSync, it does annoys me because of the fact that I can't remove it directly from the device.
Thanks in advance!!
Try sk tools software , it has a detailed info for add or remove prog.
Hi,
I have the same problem, not certain what caused it, but you can get items back in the list by following the steps below:
Get programs back into uninstall list:
1) go to..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\AppInstall\
2) Select the application directory that is not showing up in the list
3) Change the DWORD Role data from 40 to 24
4) Now the application will show up in the list.
Cheers
Rowan
Excellent!!
Thanks a lot for the advices guys!!
I will try Rowan's suggest first because it is easier and sounds good to me! Only thing is I have flashed my Universal so currently the problem is gone. I will try it if it happens again or I may try it on my Windows Mobile Device Emulator later on.

Deadlinks??

Sorry as I surfed the whole forum and was unable to find any threads in regards to my problem.
So Memory card died yesterday for no reason. Went out bought a new one and its working.
Now as I previously had installed some programs on the Memory card, Opera being one, I have several dead links in the " Start Menu" "Programs" page that I can't seem to get rid of.
I have gone into Settings/ System and did the remove programs function on whatever I can, but the dead links are still there. And as for Real One Player, I can't seem to remove it from the remove programs nor the dead link in the Programs folder.
Wondering if anyone had any ideas in regards to helping me out with this issue.
Thanks
you first should start/settings/remove applications (or whatever it's called in your language, dunno mine is in italian) and try to remove the programs from there.
if that does not work, you should, with your file explorer, goto /windows/start menu and manually remove the deadlinks by longpress on the icon you want to remove and select delete from the popup menu

Alright mate. Welcome to xda devs
Can you give us more info? You said that it said something was missing (I think I know what it was, but can you let us know what it actually said, just to be sure?) Once we know what it is, we can probably help.
And you ain't being thick. Just new
i had to restart my phone to factory settings as i couldnt get the file from the menu(can you help with this?) think it said that i needed a newer thing on my phone then it had
lol, not being funny but that isn't any more info than the first post.
we need actual details,
example "I installed core player but it gave the error "not enough bananas to complete"
just saying "its in that place where we put that thing that time" isn't enough info.
it's propably the .net framework you are missing... ver 3.5 should do... but you have to give more info when you have a problem, cause not everybody here should try to guess what's wrong with everybodys phone... we have also other things to do!... help to be helped... thats like a law!
ok i will re - put in on and get back to you all. but how do i remove the file from the phone? i try to do this but the pic of the file is still on the menu.
ok it says missingmethodexection
this app requires a newr vesion
ot the mircosoft.NET COMPACT
framework than the version installed on
the device
...and that's his edited version of the post...
Search for and install
NETCFv35.wm.armv4i.cab (there may be a later version available, but thats the one i use)
To instal .cab files, copy them anywhere on your phone (most people have a folder for cabs on their storage card in case they hard reset and need to instal them again) then run the .cab file from your phone to instal it.
As for the icon you have in your start menu that is left over from when you tried to instal it before, it should have been removed when you uninstalled teh program. If you just deleted the program, then that is why it was left over.
Open file manager, browse to windows/start menu and find the item you want rid of, , press and hold it and in teh menu that pops up choose delete. (Have to scroll down to find delete)
thanks sorted it

application

I have windows 6.5 on my phone and im confused. I've installed a cab file, then i need to get to applications to fully run it, but i can't find where 'applications' is??!! Someones help would be very much appriciated, thanks
When you install software it must go into Start menu, i mean click on Start and see if there is an icon when you slide down the end.

Completely Uninstalling programs

Sorry if there is an answer somewhere already, but I have been looking around for 20 minutes and I'm giving up and posting a thread. I have like five programs that won't uninstall when I go into the settings-->remove programs application. It comes up with a message that says "XXXX was not completely removed. Do you want to remove it from the list of installed programs?"
Has anybody had this also? How do I get it completely off my phone/get the memory back?
One more thing, I have a program called "AA AA" and I know for sure that I didn't install a cab with that name, so what the hell is it? I'm a noob with WinMo so sorry if it's simple **** haha.
Thanks in advance

For programs that say they didn't uninstall completely, the method I use to get them out is this:
1) run the cab again, the same one you used to install a/the app in the first place
2) when it gives you option or error dialogs, just click "ok" or "yes" to all of them, to allow it to go through what looks like another complete install process (yes, it's odd, but this is how to do it).
3) when it's done, soft-reset, and then you should find that there's no more trace of the app in your uninstall list.
Don't ask me how/why that works, but I've used it in many instances for just that reason, and it's worked every time I tried it.
As for that "AA AA" app, I've certainly never seen a cab that used that name (fyi, the name in the uninstall list doesn't necessarily match the name of the cab file...only if the person creating it set it up that way). So...I'd just say uninstall it, and see if any apps/links are missing then.
This thread is closest to my problem,so I'm asking here.
I cant uninstall ANY of my programs, I have tried the usual method from the remove programs section in Settings. I get same error as OP.
When that failed I then try to just delete the program folder from program files, using file explorer, but get an error saying 'Access is denied. Be certain the folder isn't in use and not write protected'
At first I thought I had a memory card problem, but its the same regardless of where the program is installed.
I also tried to re-install the programs from their cab files as described above, but get an 'unsuccessful' message.
I cant rename any files anywhere on my device either.
I know a little about write protection, but cant figure out what my problem is or how to fix it.
I hope I explained properly for someone to help.
Thanks.
It looks like that the installer process "wceload.exe" was not correctly quit and is still in the memory. Terminate the process wceload.exe with a task manager and try again.
Thanks ElectronX.
I did a search on my HD2 for the file you mentioned and couldn't find it. I have Duttys task manager installed and after a soft reset, the problem still remains. The task manager is empty of processes when I start the device.
Im sorry that Im a bit clueless to how to achieve what you suggest.
I have discovered that the problem extends beyond removing and installing programs. I cant do anything in file explorer other than open documents. If I want to move, delete, rename any file on the device I get the 'write protected' error message. I cant do it via active sync either..I connected to the computer and could browse my device, but if I tried deleting, moving or renaming, the message said it didn't have permission to do it.
Last resort is a hard reset, but hopefully someone will be able to help.
Use sktools to uninstall when windows fails. Best program ever...
Good luck
Thanks, but I cant install anything on my device...can sktools be run from my computer to fix the device?
Unfortunately not...
Good luck though..
