It is very interesting that no matter which cooked ROM i installed on my HD only free applications are displayed in market place. I also tried to browse the application in the marketplace on my PC and it shows all applications including all free and need to pay. However after i login in with my live ID then only the free applicaiton is shown. I doubt that the Marketplace may detect my mobile model no and prevent from showing those application that need to purchase if the model is not on their list.
Anyone knows how to crack it?
have you changed the drop-down in the top-right to "view all"?
of course I did!!
I wonder if you have to have a Credit/Debit card assigned to your Windows Live ID for it to show paid-for apps. I had an Xbox Live subscription before I ever logged in to Marketplace, so my Windows Live account must already have a flag against it showing that I have the means to pay for stuff. It seems a bit stupid that they would do it this way, but that's the only thing I can think of that could be causing it.
could also be a regional thing ms may not have rights to sell apps that way in all countries
recall similar things with other pay services

What are the Windows Live Services that don't work on a HD2 that isn't activated. I've searched all over but they all just mention the word Live Services or Hotmail, but nothing else.
The reason I ask is that if it is just things like Xbox Live and the Market place then I don't care if i don't have them. Once i can still have access to my Exchange server then I'm happy.
Afaik it's (this ?)
But on the phone only a few are available, but non without the activation
Just joking, without the activation you can't :
*Sign into a Hotmail Account.
*Thus Signing into Xbox Live
*Use the marketplace
*Buy music off Zune (or movies)
*Sync with a Windows Live ID (same as 1st)
I'm not sure about the exchange, but it should work.
Thank you so much for this response. This doesn't seem to bad what soever, although I guess the only bad thing is not being able to purchase any apps from the Market Place as I use my Sat Nav software daily.
Might just give this baby a go. Can always flash back to my Nand Desire HD build if I don't like it.

Hi,
I want to get WP7 on my HD2. I'v read that there is no LIVE services unlesss you call MS to activate, which I understant not working very well these days...
What is missing with those live services?
If I don't have the marketplace, I understant that I can install XAPs via computer. Can I find any app as XAP? to what extent apps are eveilable as XAPs?
Thanks.
You can get every app out there, so Marketplace is not a must. If you live in an unsupported country that will be the only way to get paid apps anyway.
Hotmail can work without Live activation if you set it up manually. XBox Live is also not available although it's purpose is questionable
To put it short: WP7 is perfectly functioable without Live services. They are nice but not a must.
On another note: Try getting a key. Most ppl still get them easily.
It's true you don't need the activation services, but the operating system is much more fun and it backs your applications, calendar, emails etc.. up so you can easerly flash a new rom.
If you have a such easy possibility to get the key (you can either get it when you tell Microsoft that you have a HD2 but you have to catch a cool agent ) you should do it.
I have switched too and I am using it as OS now since a few months.
I don't want to live without my HD2/7.... ^^
Thanks guys!
Yes I live in an unsupported country (Israel), so it's comforting to hear that is not such a big deal (as I tought).
You said that LIVE is required for hotmail. I'm planning on setting the phone with both my work's Exchange, and Google Apps account, hopefully both with ActiveSync Push for Email\Contacts\Calendar, should I expect any problems with that?
I just tried setting up two exchange accounts (GMail and Hotmail) and they seem to be working alongside each other. Email, contacts and calendars sync.
Only tested for an hour or but so far so good.
Well, I didn't find any thread on this issue, so I started a new one. In my ZUNE software on PC there isn't a Marketplace. When I tried to download Music + Videos extension, there was written THIS IS NOT AVAILABLE IN YOUR COUNTRY OR REGION. So, is there something to unlock this option? Something like Market enabler in Android. Or there is a way to enable this without?
You need to connect zune to an american live account. And you need to search before posting.

Well, I was looking and i didn't find anything. How you mean american? I need to open a new one, like I'm in US?
You can't have searched for very long then, the answers are readily available on google. But yes, if your account wasn't originally registered in a country with marketplace access then you need to make one and set that as your primary account in Zune and WP7. You can then add your original account as an extra one. You also need to change your Windows OS locale to a country with marketplace access.
Is there any reason why I should have so many Trusted Certificates under the System tab in Credential Storage? I have probably close to 100 in there and most of them I don't recognize; they seem to have some gibberish with an expiration date of a few years in the future. To my knowledge these are baked into the ROM and are not installed by the user so I'm guessing most of them relate to a stock app of some kind (WatchOn, ChatOn, etc.) Because I haven't seen a lot of discussion about it, I am asking if these Certificates are safe( I know it's from android or Samsung blah blah)?
I'm in the tedious process of disabling them just to see what happens but can anyone else shed any light on the matter? Thank-yew...

I'd like to know about this as well.

These are all root certificates. The certificate authorities that issue cents to web sites have their root certificates loaded on the phone so the phone can verify that an sisal cert from a web site is legitimate.
This is a lucrative business so there are quite a few CAs around the world. And big banks have become CAs too.
Theoretically they are all legitimate as it is a huge process (or it used to be) to get your root cert included in an OS or browser by default.
Can you remove them? Yes, but be careful. If you only use USA websites then you can probably remove most non-USA CAs. But why do you care? Older versions of android didn't let you remove any, and the only time you need to is if a CA has been compromised.
If you do remove one you need, you will get SSL warnings about visiting an untrusted site, but you should be able to add the root cert back.

alphadog00, I realize your post is from 2013, but I've been searching for answers to this as well. Why do we need these certificates on our phones? I have 156 on mine, and some of them aren't even in English. Some have the country in the company name, like China, Turkey, and Germany. Some companies have more than one certificate. VeriSign, Inc. has 7, all with different issue dates going back to 1996 but all expiring between 2029 and 2036. A couple of them look sketchy to me, with 'certificate' spelled 'cirtificate', and 'global' spelled 'globel'. They remind me of emails that I get from my dear friend, the widow of a former bank president in Kenya, who needs my help getting her money out of the country. Why do I need 156 trusted credentials from half a dozen countries? How many do I really need? There is a grey item at the bottom of the security page that says “Clear Credentials,” but it’s un-clickable on my phone. Why would that be an option if these certificates are necessary? Would I be safe disabling all the ones from outside of the US and Canada? Are all these certificates taking up space on my phone? What is a ‘fingerprint’? Thanks in advance for any help and advice you can offer me.
27 July 2017. "Turned Off" all but two CAs. Result is could not access Play Store as well as several other sites. One screen stated "No internet connection. Make sure WIFI or cellular data is turned on, then try again." Needless to write, turning off all the CAs has repercussions.
I was helping a friend which I had no idea what was going on until I got there...it's a huge huge ring of I'm not sure what?? Now my phone, my parents phone, there desktop and laptop are all under attack! I downloaded over 20 antivirus apps and could not allow permissions, nor can I get any recovery codes to any email because it keeps changing the password. Plus I found strange apps just installed, settings changed that were not and all countries in the world chamber of commerce trusted certificates and so much more. I'm pretty sure we are under attack! I would GREATLY APPRECIATE and thoughts or ideas of what i should do to our info safe!!!!! Thank You!! p.s. I'm now living every second in fear like her and very scared!
So the new update brought link to windows to the s10 but I can't see my notifications or contacts in the windows app and from time to time it will say disconnected on my pc but not on the phone.
The only thing that is working is screen mirroring.
The pics/notifications &messages don't show up, I can send text messages but it doesn't sync my contacts so I have to manually put in the number to who I am sending. Any solutions to these problems because I can't delete the phone in the windows app I did try deleting data from both apps but it always knows that my phone was connected on the windows side. I granted it all permissions and I gave it notification permission but it doesn't ask for anymore which it did for the screen mirroring thing.
Are there any additional permissions that I need to give to the app that it failed to ask? Anyone got it to work properly? If so please help :good:
The problem is that the Microsoft program (I'm assuming that you are talking about Microsoft's Your Phone Companion) doesn't work very well. I had similar problems using it on 3 different phones (Xiaomi MI 9, Huawei Mate 20 Pro and Essential PH-1) and finally decided it was too much trouble.
You can't delete your phone in Windows. You need to go to the Microsoft website and sign in with the same Microsoft account you used in the app. On your Microsoft account page you will see devices linked to Windows. You need to delete your S10+ from there.
If you want to be able to text from your computer an alternative option is to use Microsoft Messenger instead of the Samsung Text app. Microsoft Messenger includes a built-in option in settings to text from a computer or tablet.
Samsung also has its own app called Samsung Flow that's available in the Play Store and Windows Store that has similar functionality as the Microsoft app.
Unless you are talking about Samsung DeX. That's not available on the Snapdragon models yet so I have no experience using it.

Thanks for letting me know I can delete the phone via their site. It is stupid I can't do it somewhere in setting in windows but hey atleast I managed to delete my phone. I still couldn't get it to run properly which is terrible because that was one of their big selling points for the note 10 which is pretty simular to our s10. I might try it again in a few update they might fix it...
