Calling on all Ozone Users!! - Dash 3G, Snap General

Hello fellow HTC Ozone owners,
As Im sure some of you have noticed, Ookba has been a little slow in updating his ROM (its been stagnant since september). Turns out, its because he doesnt even have an Ozone of his own to work with!
A secondhand ozone is somewhere around $100-150. Thats not so much, especially considering that even at its early stage in development his 3VO rom actually makes the ozone a usable device, even more seeing as how Verizon has left us in the cold waiting for even a stock winmo 6.5 rom.
Im pretty hopeful that all of you can kick in a few bucks you have lying around, if not in the holiday spirit, then for the more selfish want for continued development.
So please: Donate Now
Every little bit helps!
----
Confirmation Number: 3UP03373S0999734J

And just by the way as a little bit of added incentive (or for all those people who say theyll donate after ookba releases the next rom), "supporters" are getting a freshly cooked beta rom to play with based on build 28004.
Ive only just started putting it through the paces, but I can already say this thing is much snappier and sturdier than 3V0 1.60.

And after we have made a donation how do we claim this glorious new beta ROM? Thanks!!

2.00 is released. I used 21854 since it's an official core. Go get it. Thanks to all and Merry XMAS!!
Core is from Maple 6.5 ROM. Have fun!

...ookba, please pm me.

Rom Help

Ok everyone, I have never posted before but I have been around for a little while (still consider myself noobish though)
I have been doing tons of research since the official rom upgrade has come out. I have to admit though I am more confused then ever.
Here is my problem, my wife and I both have the titan. About a mouth ago I upgraded both of ours to the dcd 2.1.0 (12/05/07) to unlock the gps and get rid of the sprint crap. I have to admit I fell in love with this version. Last night I installed the official htc 3.35.651.2 rom on my phone...I am NOT in love with it. Last night and all day today I have been searching for a replacement. Here is the source of my problem. There is so much development and creativity that people put into these phones (and the titan in particular) but is there no central place to compare and rate different roms? I was hoping to find a page that listed the top roms and the differences between them (and the official ones) but that does not seem to exist. There are several roms out there that look promising but sort of spending the rest of the day loading and testing them all I am at a loss.
If anyone knows of a great site or page that does what I have been looking for please let me know. If anyone has a suggestion to which rom I should go with I welcome your input. To that end, below are a few of the things I loved about the dcd version.
1) no extra sprint crap programs
2) working task manager (I just dont like the one on the official rom)
3) text messaging in a chat window set up. Unlike the email like set up in the official versions (I dont know if that makes sense)
4)Full Comm Manager (included more options)
Last item I would like to bring up, much has been made of EV-DO Rev.A. Do any of the custom roms incorporate this? It in its self is not a deal breaker for me, after testing load times on my phone vs my wife’s...Im not impressed but I would like it if possible.
Thanks everyone in advance. I have never posed before because I could always just find the answer if I looked long enough but in this case there is just way to much stuff out there...the curse and blessing of owning a titan
Thanks again
Mofo58
So far the only rom's for the Titan I know of is DCDs, Keys and NexsHybrid. Rev.A is not incorporated into the roms itself, but the radio. as long as you have the radio 3.35 you are fine. since you are a fan of dcd, i would suggest you try his new 3.0.1 rom. since you already upgraded with the official sprint rom, you have the new 3.35 radio (assuming) and all you need to do is flash a new rom on top of that.

Dev's bored with the HD?

Is it just me or have the major players in the Touch HD ROM Section given up and moved onto newer handsets now? Miri, Dutty etc...
I am also thinking in the same way as you, no body is contributing much toward the HD now a days. At least Android is required for our HDs to enjoy it a little further.
i think they have but it doesnt matter because every chef as multiple good roms to use for daily base
and some are upgraded to newest things that still are in beta but work quite well on oure blackstones
and its quiet from htc/windows side
Duttythroy doesn't post on XDA anymore. He moved to a new website http://htcpedia.com/
On thuesday he released his latest ROM, the "Duttys HD WM6.5 Leo R3". Haven't tried though
Dutty's new rom is nice enough Miri is on vacation until Monday & promises new roms from the newer builds.

well (sadly 4 us ) many of the good devs have multiple devices, and since HTC is puching out like 5 devices each year or more, its natural the would upgrade, myself feel an urge, been looking at the hero, but i am afraid the android launch will leave me bored from not being able to flash in the same way i think miri have a rhodium, i know dutty have a topaz and so on, so since the rhodium and topaz owners can benefit more, i think we lose out some but hey, the HD is getting quite old anyway so maybe we should all just move on
that new LEO device with 1gig processor seem very attractive.....
Where is onkolg?
my guess is our dev are waiting for the official release of wm6.5!
patience guiessssssssssss!!
btw i dont want to move on! THD form factor is perfect. no other phone would be an "upgrade" for me right now

Maybe a Touch HD 2
Throy is still extremely active on the HD. He's just released R4 Leo. Miri is currently on holiday and still active, as are NRG to name a few. So its not over yet!
Throy only has the Touch HD & Touch Diamond 2, think I'll wait and see where all the big names go before I make a decision on what device to choose. For the time being I'm content
To each his own, but for me personally, the only thing I can consider an upgrade would be the Leo. I'm a flashing junky and it saddens me that I have to keep a rom for longer than a week, but all my fave devs aren't releasing new ones as often as they used. Oh well... I guess I better get a girlfriend to partially fill this void
but i guess roms calm down once there is a sable wm build and touchflo.
i really want to see leaks of wm7... i think i'm going to keep my HD for another year then move to LEO 2
I guess people get bored when the phone has been around for some years, I got pretty bored of my Diamond very fast, 2 months after I bought it I bought a Topaz.
Even if the HD is old and outdated (I HATE Manila 2.5/2.6, I won't upgrade for a long time) it's still a great phone to listen to music and watch movies on. It got everything I would ask for except a camera flash.
In addition to that ... what NEWER devices they could move to ? Come on, HD is the best Until Leo comes at least
kwbr
Hey guys, dont forget kwbr!
This guy is still regularly turning out what is, in my opinion at any rate, some of the best ROMs for the HD.
(check it out for yourselves - ROM name = Topix)
LL
I think onkolog might be caught up with studying for the boards (medical licensing) or in internship.
You just have to have patience. A lot of chefs throw out roms quite consistently, but once their roms become stable, output slows. This is enevitable until another build is leaked.

very slow ROM development

Hi all
Love my Nexus One
being a heavy user of many winmo and android devices feel like the ROM development on this is very dull
any reasons?
I noticed that too, then again...most of the nexus ROMs out are near perfect...and don't require as much hackery as the G1 Roms did...I dunno whatsup with any ports as of yet, but I'm sure things will pick up.

This is exactly it. The fact that there aren't constant updates to ROMs is a success I think...it means nothing is horridly broken. This is the first phone I've had in a long time, that I've been so satisfied with, I'm not flashing a new ROM every other day.
We have the latest version of android out there that is accessible by the public or the ROM devs (that they can release).
We aren't trying to backport features because of the above.
The only real (I say real in a non "thanks bro" way) ROM porter we have is without internet (I assume on vacation).
As stated above, most things already work as they should.
While development is slow compared to the G1, also remember that all of our devs also do work on other devices and don't just devote all their android expertise to just one phone.
There isn't any new material to work with. Until Google releases FroYo or new beta updates we're at a stand still.
If you worked in the software world, you would be seeing this as a good thing

Here you go!
http://android.git.kernel.org/
Hope to see some awesome ROMs from you.
Enjoy!
Its a good thing because there are no major bugs in existing ROMs. They only get updated when google or some dev introduces new features...
This is my first phone which is still running stock ROM. With all my earlier devices...something always seemed broken or felt like it lacked something.
When I had Touch.. Touchflo was launched by HTC and all the ROM development was diverted to getting Touchflo on Touch. And with lack of enough RAM, there were always choices to be made on what you want and hence many ROMS
Then I got Diamond. It was good, but again had less RAM than Touch Pro. Again race was to get Touch Pro features in Diamond and again choices had to be made to cramp up things in the limited storage.
Then I got Touch Pro... and within few months, Diamond II and Touch Pro II was launched. Cooks started scrambling to get new touchflo 3d on Diamond and Touch Pro.
Then I got Diamond II, and sure enough HTC continued there trend of backstabbing it's customers and launched HD2 with new touchflo aka Sense. Cooks then started to figure out ways to get Sense UI on diamond II.
So you see, there were always things lacking... which forced cooks to figure out things that HTC should have done for us. HTC's first Touch phone was launched along with iPhone... but touch hasn't received any updates for past 2 years.... and Apple is still supporting iPhone (although no OS4 for them).
N1 on the other hand is Google's responsibility. We have the latest OS and features. There is not enough "to-do" things here.
Regardless of that, our Chefs are doing amazing job at giving us the features which AOSP is still finalizing.
With all due respect to you.. I think it is a bit unfair to say that the chefs aren't doing much.

I'm sorry, we'll get right on it, boss.
It is "slow" because the phone and the ROMs are so damn fast and good already. You can't port 1.5/6 ROMs over because we can't map the buttons without having a 1.5/6 Kernel made for the Nexus One. That is never going to happen.
As well, really? What is slow about the development? We have tons of new apps coming out all the time, the ROMs we have a super fast and super stable. New Kernels every day or two pushing battery life and CPU power even further.
There is tons of development going on. Just because you aren't seeing new ROMs every day doesn't mean a lack of development, it means the ROMs we have are super solid, and development has shifted to making the other aspects better, like apps themselves, and so forth. That is one of the best things about Android, you don't need to flash a new ROM just to get some new apps, like HexiLauncher and what not, all you need to do is install the app, and voila you have a new home/launcher option on your phone.
Or, you don't need to flash a new ROM just to get a new kernel, you can flash the kernel yourself (if you know how to follow simple instructions) that gives you the newest features, and features that mean more to our phones running super fast than a new ROM would mean... actually by ROM I am talking about system.img...
Anyways, if you really think things are just way to slow, then either learn how to do it yourself, make a huge donation to your favorite developer on the basis of them picking up the pace (and by huge, I mean 50k+, so they can quit their day job), or just accept the simple fact that there is a ton of development going on already, you (and many as of late) don't seem to understand enough to realize that kernels and apps are more important, at this point in time, than a ROM update every other day.
LOL another one of these threads curious as to what else can you ask for? All the tweaks that are available and possible for this phone has already been done.
thanks to all those who replied.
i am not blaming any chefs. they are doing a highly respected job and i respect them and their work very much. thanks to all of them
i was just telling that the no.of chefs on this device are very less but maybe the reasons are diff as everyone told
like king personally coz he does experiments like blur and others
personally i like experimenting with diff roms , so only felt little jobless as compared to other devices but happy with almost perfect device.
Now this I would agree with you. The number of ROM devs are a lot less compared to the G1, :-( the phone is fairly new though.. But the ones we have working on the N1 are all great nevertheless .

ahh.. so you are suffering from what I call XDA syndrome. It's when you start feeling uncomfortable when you haven't flashed a new ROM in a week. I had that too... back in WinMo days... fortunately N1 has helped and I have resisted so far!
re: above post..
hahahaha... "XDA Syndrome"
Seriously though, Modaco has been gone for awhile. Got stuck cuz of the volcano issue... it's been weeks since he has released even an update!
We are a little spoiled with the N1 I think... on top of that with 2.2 coming out shortly I think a bunch of cooks will be kinda waiting for that to come out before they do any more major tweaking.
The main thing I personally am waiting for is a fully working SenseUI on the N1.... I kinda thought it would materialize much quicker once the DESIRE came out.

LOL... i think i have the same problem im feenin for another enom rom but as he stated he was on vacation which i can respect cause im going to Miami soon. I have no complaints to the rom development but i'd love to see more themes like motoblur style X10 style i miss my motoblur theme on my magic
[edit] And before your go saying i should make one myself i tried and it was to difficult for me for some reason.
Coming from winmo myself it was a change not having a dozen or more roms to choose from but in reality looking at it objectively most of the roms are either adding something that came in a newer device or more or less a rehash of what was already done in that they didnt do anything new but they did it in a different way. Not that the latter is a bad thing, the improved layouts people came up with greatly eased, speeded up, reduceded the number of clicks, etc. in getting where you wanted to go and I at least was happy to see them coming down the pipe. As an aside when winmo was as youthful as android is now there was a lot less rom activity than what you see now as best as I can recall back.

lol, I had that like 2 weeks ago...kept flashing and flashing and flashing...finally I settled on my highly customized 5.0.5.3, still haven't jumped to 5.0.6 due to wifi issues (and me being suspended until payment next week)
I had 'XDA Syndrome' with my Magic.. I found myself flashing something new (ROM or theme) every week. Now with my Nexus, I have no desire to do so. Like others have already said, I think it's a testament to the stability of the ROMS out there coupled with the fact that 2.1 is already kick ass. We already have the best software on our N1's people. Believe me, once 3.0 or even Froyo comes out we will see an increase in ROM development.
Also, there may not be many devs for the N1 as of now, but many of the absolute best ones have a Nexus so I'm not worried about future development.

Samsung i637 CLEAN rom.

I was looking over the internet yesterday and I found CLEAN english rom wm6.5 for Jack...At least that's what one chinese guy told me on a forum (chinese):
So maybe thing will move forward a lil' bit for us, Jack users.
Download:
IN TXT (since I'm a newbie-url lock)
I bet lots of you is still waiting for this.
I have it running...It's nice...although it has few glitches....lil chinese here and there...but beside that it really handy and CLEAN
I'm not an expert on this sort of thing, nor do I pretend to be one (although not from a lack of understanding, simply a lack of knowledge.) I gave it a shot. It seemed like it lags a little bit more than the standard Samsung/AT&T ROM. There were several things I liked about it including the new interfaces and much improved task manager and file explorer. There's a little bit too much Chinese in it for me (I tried to do a few tweeks but many of the registry/system files are in Chinese)
Hopefully someone with a bit more knowledge/experience can help to make this a more user friendly ROM.
Yeah. I figured to compare this chinese rom with the original (treat chinese as a base model) and figure out which stuff to throw away from original...
And maybe do the other way around and figure out which stuff can be added to original.
But taht's just be...newbie talk.
cheers
Here is my 2 cents...
Maybe I shouldn't have bought these phones... I got 2 for a penny each. I ugraded to a Tilt 2 instantly.... My wife is still on the Jack.
It is God awful of a ROM loadaout for what it is... it's got alot under the hood for it's form factor and can perform nicely with the right tweaks and interface.
Sadly, The interest in this project is not at all dissimilar to Samsungs interest in Winmo as a whole. This is undoubtedly why we do not see the released ROMs from Sammy like we do with HTC.
HTC seems to know that if the public can enhance the device... They will buy the device. Samsungs lock and subsequent turnabout away from Microsoft will leave many users of this device in the dust and looking to ditch it quick. I did.
@ mykail or anyone who can help...:
Were you able to find a clean ROM for this phone?
I would love to upgrade to WM 6.5, but my device is unlocked, so the ATT option is not the best option for me (though it exists).
I have spent several days looking for it, but you've been longer than me, i just got the phone a week ago.
I appreciate any help in this issue.
I changed phones. I'm running HTC now on Android.
About the Jack. Haven't been searching for clean rom since November. Just few seconds ago popped in to our chinese friends and they are still developing. From what I saw it appears they are running Jack @ Win7.

Help with ROM issues
Hi Guys,
At first i must say sorry for re-open this post. there is a lot of months since the last response.
I bought a samsung sgh-i637 in LatinAmerica, playing on the internet i used the AT&T ROM for upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.5 but as you know that rom has a lot of programas of AT&T and also they change the major of keys (keypad) functionability... and at the end the phone still stay locked for AT&T.
I want to know if is possible get a ROM without the AT&T programs and also that it unlock my phone for use with any phone operator.
Thanks a lot!

[Q] I'm Confused :)

Heya,
First things first, thanks for all the devs whom are working hard, for us to have android on our devices!.
And Now, to my question.
I'm new to Android, and HD2 as well, but after lurking around these forums checking on the various builds and what not, I Still can't figure some stuff out,
I See all these builds sporting "Froyostone" "NexusLeo" "FroYo" "With Sense",
I Don't get it, I Know "Froyo" is the new version on Android OS but what the heck is Froyostone? and does NexusLeo use Froyo as well? or is it Eclair?
Please please please help me make order out of this mess
Thanks a lot!,
Hopefully we'll have A working perfect build in the months to come! .
froyo stone is froyo rom(maybe incorrect term here) developed by blackstone they are all mostly just names of liberty. need to read the info to find out what version android they are, whether the have sense or not etc
Froyo as you stated is the latest version of Android. Darkstone is the chef of the FroyoStone hence the Stone in the name. Chefs name the builds anything they want as it's there version with certain tweaks. I personally use FroyoStone v1 and it seems to be the best and most stable I've found. In order to use any of these builds properly I suggest you drop a custom rom on your HD2 before messing with any of these builds. Reading up on the stickies in the HD2 rom developing section should help you with that. Once your ready to go you can check out the stickies in the HD2 Android development on how to get going on Android. Note: Read Read Read and make sure you understand everything as flashing a rom to your phone could easily damage your device if not done right. Hope this helps.

Every Rom is like a different flavor of ice cream. Some like fast and no extra features (vanilla), some like Rocky road. Any ROM you choose will give you a taste of android, however they're are 4 basic types in my opinion.
Vanilla style: No extras, just stock android
[BUILD] [18.08.2010] [darkstone HD2Froyo V2.1]
[BUILD][14.08.2010][Xcelsior's Android FroYo V1.00
Sense Vanilla style: No extras, just stock android using htc sense
[BUILD][07.08.2010][FroyoStone Series - V1
Then the feature versions. As in more functionality, based on the Cooker's preferences.
my persona fav- [BUILD][16.08.2010][shubCRAFT CM6RC3
[BUILD][17.08.2010][mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.5b
Thanks a lot you guys! I'm a bit wiser now
I Remember last year when I Had my Diamond, development just started, and now not only is it possible, it's even stable, back when I Tried it, it was all bits and pieces
Now I Have the iPhone and I Really do love it, it's good and simple, but last week I Saw my fathers HD2 running Froyostone and that finally convinced me to get the HD2, which by itself is a good phone, but with android support it's one of the best phones i've seen in awhile, probably even better then my beloved iPhone
Thanks a lot for you kind help!

I saw my brothers new iphone4 the other day, played with it for 10 minutes (i know its not long enough to properly gauge how 'good' it is )...... SOOOO glad I got the HD2 instead of the iPhone 3GS I almost bought instead.
If you get/got yourself an hd2 AND get android installed too... i dont think it will be long before you KNOW the HD2 kicks the iphones' arse IMHO

But yeah as the guy above hinted at.... iphone <4 tech doesnt compare to the HD2 IMO.... Plus I got my HD2 for quite a bit less than I could have got even a 3gs for. Im happy with my decision.... hell I was happy with the HD2 pre android lol
...Cheers for the info though, I'll let my brother know but I think he likes OS4, I thought it was OK but nothing special.... android would make that phone pretty decent I reckon.
