Any decent games to be released in the future? - HD2 General

Hi,
got my device two days ago, simply mindblowing, absolutely quick. I just wanted to know if any decent games are planned for release in the future so that it can test th power of the HD2 processor?

i hope it's not only a rumour and they actually gonna release it soon, fpsece 0.10 should push your hd2 to the max. It's a playstation emulator. Look here for example, it's on a toshiba tg01, but that's also the snapdragon: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Q9qAB7ADB4

You could try the games extracted from the Xperia phones (Experiment 13 & Xtrakt) and Electopia. Here's a video :

Hero To Get 2.0!!

It's true. 1.6 gets skipped. Check the link:
http://htcsource.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=791&Itemid=50
sounds great
thanks for the info
Oh, thank god! Just imagine how long we should have waited for 2.0 otherwise!
The whole 1.6 release seemed a bit odd to me. Especially now 2.0 is so fast released after 1.6. In this case I have to agree with HTC.
But I do hope that in the future they keep up with the normal updates. Otherwise it will be a bit of a guessing game "will HTC give us this update yes or no?!".
at least 4 months to get 2.0 damn. i wud love to get 1.6 now. its tough to live with a phone without new things to play with.
Happy x-mas
Sweet looks like HTC will be playing santa this year and giving us 2.0 as a present
this looks amazing. genius. pure genius. i cant wait for this
I cannot wait for this!
I saw in

Motorola Droid (First Android 2.0 Device) wil start shiping in 6 November. so posible we have android 2.0 for next month.

Indeed, you should buy the new droidphone, it has android 2.0 as first of all...
1.6 wouldn't make that big of a difference, also there will be some cooked 1.6 roms I think.
It's the most logical choice for htc to make, it has no use spending a lot of manhours making a 1.6 rom when it's only used for a few months.
Patience is a virtue, and my hero on 1.5 still works like a dream. Stop nagging and be happy for the fact it's comming!
the hero will get 2.0 at the release of the moto droid and the g1 wont get an update to 2.0 because the ram is not enough for 2.0 i think
and tmobile in germany so hadnt released the 1.6 for the g2 touch because they will direct update the g2 touch to 2.0
2.0 with sense that would be very nice
bye

I take it that is a guess ?
I wonder how long HTChave had the 2.0 code. Being such a major Android hardware partner they should have had it for at least as long as Motorola have.
I imagine that the 'please bear with us' is HTC trying to point out that 2.0 will not be released next week at same time as Droid. We'll have to wait a few weeks more.
As someone who's Hero has been away for repair for a week I'll settle for 1.5 in my hand now. How did we ever live without our smartphones ?

bro just see how long htc took to release source code for hero. and this source code just came out last week. so does it really takes so much to guess that 2.0 wont come in 1-2 months?
i wont be less happy than u in any way if comes earlier than i am expecting. but why expect so much and get disappointed?

indeed !!!
It's not so sure... It's a RUMOUR that it won't fit (just like he rumoured that 1.6 won't fit on G1 but it does fit after all!)...
So wait for google/t-mobile to something about it... And the user/dev-group of the G1 is so much bigger then the hero (10/20x bigger?) and 2.0 will come to G1, maybe offical maybe by devs! SO it's not a question IF it happens but WHEN it happens!
Sense is not so good at all, just some extra widget's but that's all, like plain (and faster) launcher better then sense

I do but from the speculated specs it's not gonna have US 3G bands. I hope the rumors are wrong. Plus, I can imagine how much it's gonna cost. I'm not paying anywhere near a $1000...maximum maybe around $700.

i did hear this a while ago but have not seen it confirmed, when i ask by twitter on the xperia blog i was told it was up to vodaphone to announce it but on there website it just says november.
just got a direct message from the xperia blog on twitter. i ask why i have not see and reviews yet. they said that they are still waiting for the final x2 software and and we should see reviews soon. they said in a twwet to someone else that they should be sent out next week.
can they release on the 6 november when they still have not got the final software? i doubt they will, my guess would be mid to late november

Would seem odd, but then again it wouldnt suprise me if SE released this early without the final software update. It says so on the Voda website that it will come on the 6th.

To find out, go to this page http://www.vodafonetouchthephone.com/ , click on "skill game", while playing that on the bottom left of the screen different phones will pop up, everytime the phone pops up the date of release pops up with it. You may have to play it a few times as different phones pop up.
id be more interested in the new droid than a rebadge x1

looks like the 6th is the official date. but one thing i would point out is the satio's date is the original one and that was delayed by a week or 2 so the x2 might get the same treatment but lets hope not.
We won't see the X2 in the shelves before the very end of November the earliest.

I can wait!
I don't get it... so You guys are actually waiting for it?? damn... msm 7200a cpu is sooo yesterday comparing to snapdragon or a8 cortex devices. I would wait few more weeks/months if I were You. the worst thing one can do is to sign a vodaphone contract for 18 - 24 mths to get it. well... other than 8 mp camera, what's so special about x2 anyway? panels? please..... SE's quality??
...
I am keeping x1 till release reviews of htc leo, n900 and x3 (if those rumours about nov 3 are real).
then I shall burn my money...
X2 java speed at top
Someone wrote in an SE forum that X2 might get different hardware specs than what leaked before (7200a). Lets wait for the final device and see what aktually is in it
Lets hope they speed it up a bit.
If it does come out on the 6th it'd be just in time before the warranty for my X1 expires so that I can send it for servicing of the keyboard. Been delaying it for so long cos can't do without it for a day.

Well what is SO strange if somebody WANTS that?
I don't ****ing care if it's "so yesterday" or today on paper.
If it works well - great, **** the "dry" specs.
And if it works bad, it's bad.
BTW I don't get any Vodafone contract, but simply buy this from SE.
As for device: great camera, great keyboard, good quality, and yes - also those damned panels. Now you get it?
Snapdragon - there are only two now, both touchscreen only, even no camera button - thank you.
I'm very picky as for hardware/formfactor, nothing convinces me.
N900 - please, a device which works in landscape ONLY???
So - not much to choose from!
And Android - that would be interesting but again - depending too much on Google - thanks.
I'd be really happy to have at least 3 devices I like to choose from but it just cannot happen!
HTC makes such a crappy devices (form factor/functionality)....

Well the 2.2 isn't even mentioned, i doubt we will get it in this year.
BTW, great news, so we will get the 2.1 somewhere near september, not bad.
We are of course very glad to offer this upgrade earlier than originally planned. Xperia™ X10’s position will also be further strengthened through the addition of HD video recording as part of the same Q3 upgrade. A further upgrade to the Xperia™ X10 in Q4 will make it possible to connect and display wirelessly content on your television and enhance the Timescape™ and Mediascape applications.

oh yea, makes sense
I've heard that they will skip froyo and move on to gingerbread anyway, but that is just pure speculations/rumors as always ^^
I really wish I could believe them when they say Q3...
The good thing is that we have a fairly functional Donut, we could've been stuck on a stock version and that would've been painful. When you avoid the cool but oh so slow stock apps like Timescape and add some stuff from the market it's a really nice OS.
What would be awesome though was if we could get vanilla images without all the extra stuff bolted on and the ability to customise it fully. But without root that's not gonna happen. :/
Sounds like the root news has scared them abit lol
Nice move SE
That's good to hear. I see where SE is going with this. Previously they planned one big 2.1 update on Q4 but after receiving numerous complaints they divided it into "2 phases" updates in Q3 and Q4. It’s clear from the announcement that the promised DLNA support along with other features will be postponed until phase 2 on Q4.

Don't you just love how NOTHING about that small update was mentioned? Did they just stop with that one all together, or what?
great news!!! seems that SE started to listen to the market and customers. love SE!!!
so the first rollout will be september 30th! Just keep that in your mind and you will be ok!
Hopeful, but im still doubtful. Time will tell so lets hope they get it right.

* Apologies. I am aware that we haven’t followed up on the post re smaller software update that Sumit did a couple of weeks ago. We will get back to you with more info on this very shortly (read very shortly)
Wouldnt that be a little info?
At least it sounds like they're starting to listen to their customers "a little".
To survive on the market they have to provide smaller, faster update cycles. It's the new model to stay competitive. Releasing monolithic updates that take forever just doesn't work anymore because there are so many other alternatives available and people don't have to wait. They'll just move on and then all the work put into the update is wasted because no one is using your product.
So fingers crossed.

That's not how SE thinks and works. A more obvious explanation would be the Release of the X8 , so they try to push the Phone ASAP to the market and as both Phones, with slightly differences , have the same Specs they try to get the X8 on the market WITH Android 2.1 , so they have to hurry up and as they do 2.1 for the X8 they spend the update to the X10 a bit earlier. SE learned how the market reacted to their release of the X10 with Android 1.6 and I'm almost sure they won't do the same mistake with the X8.
SE is pushing new Models to the market very quick and they want to sell them all. When we get 2.1 we can be happy because i don't see a further Release of 2.2 or higher for the X10 , this will be exclusive for their new Flagships.
All android phones shall be getting updates.
The only way flagships shall differ will be through hardware.
From a reliable source.

So all devices will have outdated OS:es, but flagships will have beefier hardware they can't use?

[Q] Next Android release

Do you think Gingerbread will be a 2.x update or 3.0 update? There are rumors surrounding both. What do you think and why?
I know 3.0 is being made to support tablets, and gingerbread is only going to be available for high-end devices.
Many rumors speculate that the next release will be anywhere from 2 weeks from now until Christmas. It's pretty much guaranteed to be released in 2010 though.
To be honest, in my own uneducated opinion...
..I think we will see a glimpse in 2010 before christmas, perhaps even a working version on prototype hardware. But a released version wont happen until 2011.
Im hoping they take there time with it.
And please for the love of friking god will they finally make openGL use mandatory regardless, there are too many good phones with dedicated hardware being wasted ><

SOFTWARE UPDATE: HTC One will get OpenGL ES 3.0 support

SAN FRANCISCO: SMARTPHONE MAKER HTC said it will release a software update for its HTC One smartphone to enable support for OpenGL ES 3.0.
HTC will release its HTC One smartphone this week in the UK and it will be one of the first handsets to have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 quad-core system on chip (SoC) processor.
Have any of the ROM developers seen this as yet? Any examples?
http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/2257651/htc-one-will-get-opengl-es-30-support-video
awesome news mate, lets hope it improves the performance as well
ill post the link in the related thread thanks :good:
Interesting I like seeing HTC make commitments to improve the device, it fills me with confidence its not going to be another device forgotten and unsupported as soon as its demoted within the company
Anyone tried that game Qualcomm released to show off the power Snapdragon 600 http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/0...w-off-the-power-of-snapdragon-600-processors/
I look forward to seeing if there are any benchmark improvements. I am not sure if speed is the main benefit or just new effects/technology.
Real racing seems good on my One, what would the benefit of OpenGL ES 3.0 on that?
I strongly suspect existing benchmarks will be unaffected, let's hope I'm wrong. I guess we can expect better effects "for free".

in fact someone asked HTCdev over twitter and they responded they are working with qualcomm regarding GL performance

That's good news. Hopefully the current drivers are just crappy. I figured they would have been around a while though, long enough to have been reasonably well optimised. Always happy to be wrong.

yes but HTC is still at 4.1.2
and the SGS4 with 4.2 is scoring a lot better on the same s600
so there a high chance they dont have the latest drivers
