iGO8 missing backslash in keyboard - HD2 General

Found an odd problem, when I tried to configure an external application link in iGO8 there was no backslash in the internal keypad so I coundn't type in the path to the external program I wanted to run. I checked my old PDA (HP-210) running the same software and skin and the backslash was there. In iGO8 there is a symbol tab you touch to access the "character" keypad and on the PDA the symbol is @/! but on the HTC it's 1/!. anyone run into this? Is there a keyboard setting that may be causing this? (I couldn't find anything out of the ordinary)
Thanks,
Mike

did you notice the different layout?
make sure you're in the qwerty keyboard
at least i think thats the problem

Thanks Neville, was in qwerty mode but still no luck. Checked over at GPS underground and was told the file I needed to edit manually, works fine that way.

NaviPanel customize?

Is possible to customize the buttons function of navipanel, to point to another application for navigation?
Or to change the application that popup on carkit mode to another than navipanel?
Don't know an answer to your question yet, but i have problems using the navipanel button to start my TomTom. It locks up TomTom many times.
TomTom does work ok if I start it only using the hardware button above the green horn hardware button.
Anny suggestions how to fix / update the navipanel software?
Same question to launch Igo8 directly from the Navipanel, but also to link it to footprint.
Good to have our own forum
Let see from this topic and for tomtom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3359078&postcount=5786
use Reg Editor
1. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\NaviSW and add new string value
Value name: MiddleLayerDLL
Value data: NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll
2. Put a file "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll" in the Windows folder. The file should be available somewhere in the forum (EDIT : for 4 navigators, see next post, they are already in the windows folder).
3. Soft Reset
I haven't tried myself. Hope this willl help.
Kind of the same question : how do we change the bottom left button of the iolite so it can launch another GPS software ?
And how this help to change the navigation software? I already have this key in registry.
But how to edit to run another navigation program, other than tomtom(igo, miomap,destinator...)?
EDIT:
In windows dir there are 4 different NaviSWMiddle.dll, for TomTom, Papago, Navitel andCoPilot. So I think
that we must find a dll for the navigation program that we want to run instead and change the registry key to
that. The problem is that neather of the existing dlls is for programs that I want to use. So how can we make this dlls?
We have lost time with this.
Nothing of this solve any problem in this thread.
Please don't post anything if this don't solve anything.
Our forum maybe one day will be great, but meanwhile.......
so anyone have the answer fo this ?, seems that this issue have been idle for quite a while now

You can have Garmin Maps on Navitel !
Download Navitel cab from www.gpsmoldova.com/navitel/indexen.html
then add Garmin Maps
You need first to fix NavPanel i setting to recognize NaviTel ....
Cheers
bmomail, You mis understand
I want to use NaviPanel with Garmin XT. but program default are papago x3
ิbut you told "Navitel Navigator" it another program
Add Garmin
My friend
1-Install Garmin
2- go to Reg editor
do this :
Value name: MiddleLayerDLL
Value data: NaviSWMiddle
3- Soft Rest
4- go to setting - Personal - Buttons - Choose (Button 2) option and add google map or Garmin
Hey folks!
If I start NaviPanel and press the lower right button "navigation" - then the wrong version of TomTom starts (looks like ver. 6). It tells me "no cards found" and ends.
I have TomTom 7 installed and it works great, if I start it via the Windows start menue.
Also if I start the tomtom.exe directly from the explorer, TomTom 7 also works as expected.
But how can I tell the NaviPanel to start the right TomTom.exe?
Greetinx
Woko
[EDIT]:
The NaviPanel is controlled by the "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll". Maybe there is an new version of it for TomTom 7?
My is created 22. january 2009 and has a size of 56,9 KB. There is no version info contained in the dll (yes - who needs version infos.... :-/ )
How Can I Choose (Button 2 ) I'm not see it.

go to Start --> Settings --> Buttons (I assume, because I have a Dutch version). then select the button (nr. 1 I guess), in the dropdown menu under in the tab page, select the software you want to assign to this button.
I hope that this will help.
What i did
I got it to launch Garmin, have not had time to dig deeper to get it to launch the other apps directly within Navipanel. Try the below...

I join to this question. Who has original NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll and can post it here?
NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll
Hi guys,
The file "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll" is located in the Windows directory, but its hidden, you can't see it. If you install "Total Commandor" then you can brouws the Windows dir and check it. Anyway, there is no need to do this. But if you really need the file then be my guest, I attached it here.

Installing Asukal cab on X1 to input and read japanese in WM6.1

Hi,
I found a lot of infos about some fantastic files from Asukal that allows Japanese input and reading on windows mobile 6.1 devices. But it seems there are some differences in registry editing for every models to get all the characters displaying correctly and the right keyboard layout.
But I am still looking for someone who has actually installed those files on the xperia and a list of what to do exactly to get everything right.
So far here is what I found:
Everything we install has to be installed on the main memory and not on storage card or device will not boot anymore.
we have to install this file for output:
http://hn801.hkes.com/Data/Localize/LetsJapanNo6.zip
do a soft reset
And this one for input:
http://hn801.hkes.com/Data/SIP/IME_31J_F.zip
But we have to do some registry edit before the soft reset or the keyboard will not work. And maybe this patch will do the editing but I am not sure if it for HTC device or not and I am not sure anyway if Xperia is considered an htc device or not (because it is made in part by htc):
http://hn801.hkes.com/Data/SIP/Enable_IME_2.zip
there is also an Enable_IME_3.zip but I don't know what it is nor where it is.
do a soft reset
Note, if you don't install the Enable_IME patch before restarting, you will most probably have to hard reset your device.
So to make it short:
- LetsJapanNo6.cab
- soft reset
- IME_31J_F.cab
- DO NOT reset now!
- 2_Enable_IME_2.cab
- 2_Enable_IME_3.cab (not sure about his one)
- restart
I just got my xperia today so I did not tried it yet. If anyone has time to try, please report the results here. thanx all.
Some things I forgot to mention.
When you install those files the OS is supposed to stay in English (but I think some stuff like calendar get japanized but you can revert to english by reg edit).
Also the japanese IME is supposed to be the best you can find (better than Ce star cause it works with everything like the dictionnaries) and is the best at kanji recognition (you can draw a kanji with the stylus to search the meaning in a dictionnary!). there is a freeware that claim to do kanji recegnition but needs right kanji stroke number and order, which is useless for us learners cause if you know the stroke order you probably don't need to search the kanji.
So I can't wait to try this.
Strob were you ever able to get this working? I'd love to here a follow up on what happened when you tried install Asukal's on your X1.
I was able to get ce-star working pretty easily, but Asukal's sounds like a better option if its possible to get it working on the X1.
hi, may be someone have unicode fonts with hieroglyphs fo xperia?
Strob-さん
Just to let you know I managed to get LetsJapanNo6 and IME31J_F working perfectly fine on my Xperia.
You don't need Enable_IME_2 or 3, just install the two CABs and modify the following registry entry:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Layouts\e0010411]
"Keyboard Layout"=00000409
After that reboot and everything works, but the keyboard and SIP will default to かな. If you want it to default to alphanumeric, there's another registry entry to put in:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\IMEJP\3.1\MSIME]
"option3"=0000000D
The "D" is hex for 13, it's not a string.
The Xperia works great browing Japanese web sites, running EB Pocket and Google Maps user interface changes to Japanese.
Hope this helps you get it working on your Xperia.
YES!!! Finally it's working for me too! Thanks to Asukal!

[SOLVED] "Show Home on map" from contact card not working

Hi,
I'm trying to make work the function "Show Home on map" from the contact card but without success. After a lot a research : nothing. When i click on the "show on map" button, come an error showing "the file 'TelmapNav' cannont be opened....". I can't find this file nor the directory it should be.
Has anyone the same problem and eventually the solution.
SmAKy
The rom is the stock 1.48 (same things happened with 1.61).
SOLVED :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000002 ==> Orange Map
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000001 ==> Google Map
Just tried L26 custom roms (v2.1) and the problem is still there...
It's probably assuming CoPilot has been installed. Have you got CoPilot installed? Same problem when you use Footprints and try to go to the location of the footprint.
I guess it's a way of cajoling you into abandoning Tomtom and buying CoPilot. Looks like HTC have a deal going on with CoPilot's makers.
Mine works fine and puts me on google maps...have you removed or disabled google maps?
Google is activated and work with Digital compass and with Footprint not with "Show home on map".
Copilot is not installed at all, I will give it a try...but don't want to use it...
EDIT : just installed Copilot 8 live, and nothing changed, still the same error ...
I get google maps too - works fine for me.
argggggg.....
Can't even find in which directory the TelmapNav.exe should be (would try to fake it with another exe but can't without this information).
Can't find anything regarding telmapnav in registry, so sad, i'm the only one with this problem...

That exe isn't on my phone either. You must have installed something that (for whatever reason) modified how the contact-to-map link works, and that's caused the problem. Have you ever installed any other map software? Telmap Navigator, for example?
Telmap navigator isn't installed, I'v tried to install it on both devide and storage card and nothing, maybe the problem come form the manila mod i'v installed (BG4all and 20 shortcuts). I will try to find information in those new manila files...
I'm with Orange and they preinstalled telmapnav. So, on my phone contact to map also launches Telmapnav, a bit like Smaky07, just that in my case it does find the .exe. But I don't want to use this piece of crap! I want it to work with TomTom or Google maps.
I searched my registry and found some keys with telmapnav in various values, but they all seemed to be Orange specific and not contact related. So, if anyone knows how the contact application is associated with a navigation app, that would be great!
pat12 could you provide telmap installation directory, just to know if I'm able to fake sense to launch something when choosing show home on map.
Ok i've find some things. I bet this is related to orange stk auto customisation (or something like that). The TelmapNav.exe must be \Programes Files\Maps\TelmapNav.exe. I'v installed OrangeMaps and "Show Home on map" open the orange navigator.
On mine, I have it at two different locations: same as yours (\program files\...) plus in the \windows folder. I agree with you that the one used by contact is in program files especially as there is a dll that seems aptly named ContactsPlugin.dll...
Anyway, I just found out that if I use the Windows contact application (in the Outlook folder) I do have a Google Maps localisation item in the menu!
Which by the way you can also get using the HTC Contact application.
Select a contact, on the screen you will have the map icon that will use the telmapnav app but click menu -> add and display more information -> again menu -> scroll to the bottom and... Google maps!
If i rename my GoogleMaps folder to Maps and rename the exe from GoogleMaps.exe to TelmapNav.exe, "show home on map" open GoogleMaps but no information is passed and only MyLocation is shown.. Have to find how data location are passed to appli...
could someone for whom it's working seach his registry and tell us all the entries for googlemaps that seem relevant to our problem?
I think a DLL is responsible for this behavior, but I can't find which one.
I've re flashed my phone with new WWE rom and same things happened, there must be a process which customize the phone with orange "flavor"... but what process?????
SOLVED....
I have finally solved this issue.
The configuration for software launched on click on "Show home on map" is handle by a REG key :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000002 => TelmapNav (Orange Map)
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000001 => Google Map
I guess the default value was 1 but after each reflash, I have a script that restore some reg bakcup value and that was the problem for me.

'Ctrl' key on Touch2 Keyboard

After this issue, fate had worse things for my P3400i(gene). It fell down and the speaker stopped working. Frustrated with repeated issues, I decided to dump my gene and I picked up the Touch 2 (the special version without 3G and GPS).
Now, the P3400i had a 'Ctrl' key in its keypad which was handy for copying, pasting, selecting et al, just like a desktop. But I cant find the 'Ctrl' key on my Touch Keypad. Is n't it really there or am I missing something?
I think you are right: There is no Ctrl-Key in the keyboard. But look out for the free Program Total Commander: It's not allowed for me to post links (so search google for that tool) , it's a file manager with an "integrated" Ctrl-Key for copying, etc....
No, its not here. Missin nothing.

Thanks L.J.Silver. 'Total Commander' is a file manager. What I am looking for is a keypad that comes with a control key. I want to have the 'Ctrl' key when I am typing say an SMS or working on a word file. I did come across SPB Keyboard but its not a freeware. I am going to try it and see if its worth the money. In the meantime, pl let me know if you know of another solution.
You can use Finger Touch Keyboard. However it's shareware but works fine without issues. It has various skins which can be used and contains Shift as well as Ctrl Keys.
Here's the link:

Naveen: Thanks a ton for this one. They have a stripped down freeware version as well. I installed it and it works yahoo!

[Q] Need help hacking my MFU W72

I got myself this phone some time ago: http://www.solonomi.com/index.php/m...gps-wifi-word-excel-msn-and-dual-cameras.html
I'm quite happy with it, but I need help, maybe a registry hack, to overcome a little problem it has.
The problem is that the Enter key on the qwerty keyboard, when used inside Word Mobile or other word processors (I've already tried DocumentsToGo and Softmaker Office 2008) acts as the Ok button, so, instead of inserting a blank line, Word saves the file and closes it. I've installed FingerKeyboard and I can overcome the problem using the virtual keyboard, but that's pretty annoying.
The most strange thing is that I've seen it randomly working like it should, but I can't find a way to make that the default behaviour.
Thanks in advance.
