My iGo8 experience and config

** Don't ask/pm me for files or where to d/l **
Since someone PM me for iGO 8 config, I just share my exp & config in case anyone find it useful.
**TTS is very sensitive to Virtual Memory. (Please noted it's not the available memory you see at Settings > memory. So you may see 90mb+ available memory there but still not able to get TTS) and resource at IGO "startup" time (but doesn't matter after it started and working).
1. Make sure the rom use the slots wisely and give you enough VM (22mb+), U should ask your cook for detail.
2. Make sure you don't have **** load of craps at startup (/Windows/startup. HKLM/init, HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\BootLauncher, etc)
3. Make a full backup and disable unnecessary services/devices with Dotfred task manager. Personally, I don't need USSD, IPV6, Ipsec, ...etc)
4. Soft-reset maybe a good idea if you already run X1 for a long time.
5. "No Today Plugin" w/ AE Button Plus is very handy to deactivate/activate TF3D and free up some resource. There are mortscript to automate this in some thread.
My Steps:
1. optional: start BT and connect your A2DP audio system (JVC BT-1 in my case) in case you want the TTS and phone call goes to yr audio system.
2. run Igo8
3. After Igo8 is started and TTS is working. Minimize Igo8 by "End Call" button. Then start your fav music program (Core Player 1.24 in my case).
4. run Igo8 again to bring up iGO8 from minimize. And my music play (Play/pause/FF/RW) is controlled by AVRCP
My current config: X1i/a running my custom 3.2Full ML rom
iGO8: 8.3.2.90500(PNA version, the ONLY version works for both PDA contact and TTS).
Skin: Trimmed (since I don't need squared screen suppport) & modified (laneinfo_signpost.ini for bigger freeway sign post) v10 from LZF.

Thanks for sharing this, I can do it myself but I'm sure it helps a lot of people.
However I'm concerned about the eprformance, so here are two suggestions:
1) set this

instead of enable_3D_buildings=1 , to disable 3d buildings since it's slow.
2) use speedbooster 2.0, and increase the priority of iGo8.exe . It seems to load maps and search faster and the interface drawing is smoother.

after this i changed, my device is starting IGO8 for the first time, but after it breaks imidiantley up.. like an error !

Btw is there any way to keep the current map zoom when locating my GPS position. I mean when I scroll and zoom, and than I want to find my current GPS position, click on the button for that, I loose my current zoom, and go to a much lower one, where I can't see the streets.
Anyone any idea?

check in Igo/IGO8/CONTENT/LANG if you have any files in there.

Can you please tell me what you did to make the signposts bigger?
On my device (Touch pro 2) the signposts are about 3/4 of the screen and I just cannot find any solution to make them smaller!

I change to signpost_font_size=30. U can play around w/ the padding setting as well

TomTom Navigator Clipped Audio Fix

Hi all,
For everyone with the problem with TomTom Navigator whereby it only announces part of the directions, attached is a small application which provides a workaround.
It works by playing a short silent WAV file in a loop in the background, starting TomTom then shutting itself down automatically once TomTom is closed. This is basically the same mechanism as mentioned on another thread whereby a silent MP3 is played through a script in an external MP3 player but written as a self-contained program.
To run TomTom with the fix:
If you don't already have it, first install the Microsoft .NET 3.5 Compact Framework. Available as a cab here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2ZGV1DNJ.
Unzip the attached TomTom Audio Fix.zip and copy TomTom Audio Fix.exe into your TomTom Navigator directory e.g. "\Program Files\Navigator". You can then just run TomTom Audio Fix.exe which will automatically start TomTom.
This has been tested on TT 7.910 (9185) and 7.915 (9196), please post here if you try it out with whether it's working ok or you run into any problems!
Updates
v1.10:
- Icon refreshed, now displaying correctly.
- When run, TomTom Audio Fix.exe will now automatically generate a "TomTom Navigator.lnk" shortcut in the current directory. This can be copied directly over the installed TomTom shortcut in the start menu; saving the need to manually create a shortcut to the fix.
v1.11:
- Thanks to Mr_Q, this is now provided as a .cab file:
º Automatically copies file to TomTom Navigator directory and overwrites the shortcut in the start menu.
º Install the cab in the same location as you installed TomTom (eg. Storage Card), else it won't work.​- Removed redundant change from 1.10 which created the TomTom Navigator shortcut.

Do I understand it right, after installing the fix I have to start the fix from explorer and TT will start automatically??
In that case is there a chance for a shortcut in programm directory? That would make it more easy than starting the programm everytime from explorer.

Beside my question one post before, the fix worked fine. Only a shortcut would be fine.
I tried to copied the fix into windows\startmenue folder, but then the correct path will not be found.
I have navigator on my storage card installed. Path is in german:
Mein Gerät\Speicherkarte\Programme\Navigator
When I start the fix from there it works fine.

Thanks a lot JohnnyDH! This really does work great. Can I make a request? Would it be possible to change the icon of the file as it is of pretty bad quality now. I'd appreciate it very much.

You will need to manually edit the TomTom shortcut in your windows\startmenue folder. Copy the TomTom Navigator.lnk file from the start menu to your PC, open it with a text editor, and change where it says "TomTom Navigator.exe" to "TomTom Audio Fix.exe" e.g. I changed mine from:
47#"\Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Navigator.exe"
to:
47#"\Program Files\Navigator\TomTom Audio Fix.exe"
Save the changes and copy it back replacing the original file. Unfortunately there are too many installation locations / languages etc for me to automate this!

Not a problem, glad it is working for you! Good spot on the icon, it was extracted directly from TomTom Navigator.exe and I hadn't noticed. I will upload an updated version at some point in the next couple of days to give a few more people a chance to test it in case any fixes are required.

Thanks a lot, I really appreciate it! Today I did a testrun using TT7 and the voice now works like a charm...very happy about this fix!

Its working like a charm. Theres only one thing I noticed. When TomTom is started, it starts muted. Is this how its supposed to be?

[SOLVED] "Show Home on map" from contact card not working

Hi,
I'm trying to make work the function "Show Home on map" from the contact card but without success. After a lot a research : nothing. When i click on the "show on map" button, come an error showing "the file 'TelmapNav' cannont be opened....". I can't find this file nor the directory it should be.
Has anyone the same problem and eventually the solution.

The rom is the stock 1.48 (same things happened with 1.61).

Just tried L26 custom roms (v2.1) and the problem is still there...

It's probably assuming CoPilot has been installed. Have you got CoPilot installed? Same problem when you use Footprints and try to go to the location of the footprint.
I guess it's a way of cajoling you into abandoning Tomtom and buying CoPilot. Looks like HTC have a deal going on with CoPilot's makers.

Mine works fine and puts me on google maps...have you removed or disabled google maps?

Google is activated and work with Digital compass and with Footprint not with "Show home on map".
Copilot is not installed at all, I will give it a try...but don't want to use it...
EDIT : just installed Copilot 8 live, and nothing changed, still the same error ...

That exe isn't on my phone either. You must have installed something that (for whatever reason) modified how the contact-to-map link works, and that's caused the problem. Have you ever installed any other map software? Telmap Navigator, for example?

Telmap navigator isn't installed, I'v tried to install it on both devide and storage card and nothing, maybe the problem come form the manila mod i'v installed (BG4all and 20 shortcuts). I will try to find information in those new manila files...

I'm with Orange and they preinstalled telmapnav. So, on my phone contact to map also launches Telmapnav, a bit like Smaky07, just that in my case it does find the .exe. But I don't want to use this piece of crap! I want it to work with TomTom or Google maps.
I searched my registry and found some keys with telmapnav in various values, but they all seemed to be Orange specific and not contact related. So, if anyone knows how the contact application is associated with a navigation app, that would be great!

pat12 could you provide telmap installation directory, just to know if I'm able to fake sense to launch something when choosing show home on map.

Ok i've find some things. I bet this is related to orange stk auto customisation (or something like that). The TelmapNav.exe must be \Programes Files\Maps\TelmapNav.exe. I'v installed OrangeMaps and "Show Home on map" open the orange navigator.

On mine, I have it at two different locations: same as yours (\program files\...) plus in the \windows folder. I agree with you that the one used by contact is in program files especially as there is a dll that seems aptly named ContactsPlugin.dll...
Anyway, I just found out that if I use the Windows contact application (in the Outlook folder) I do have a Google Maps localisation item in the menu!
Which by the way you can also get using the HTC Contact application.
Select a contact, on the screen you will have the map icon that will use the telmapnav app but click menu -> add and display more information -> again menu -> scroll to the bottom and... Google maps!

If i rename my GoogleMaps folder to Maps and rename the exe from GoogleMaps.exe to TelmapNav.exe, "show home on map" open GoogleMaps but no information is passed and only MyLocation is shown.. Have to find how data location are passed to appli...

could someone for whom it's working seach his registry and tell us all the entries for googlemaps that seem relevant to our problem?

I think a DLL is responsible for this behavior, but I can't find which one.
I've re flashed my phone with new WWE rom and same things happened, there must be a process which customize the phone with orange "flavor"... but what process?????

The configuration for software launched on click on "Show home on map" is handle by a REG key :
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000002 => TelmapNav (Orange Map)
"PeopleMapVendor"=dword:00000001 => Google Map
I guess the default value was 1 but after each reflash, I have a script that restore some reg bakcup value and that was the problem for me.

In my case, on pressing the map icon against the address in contact card, it does nothing. I do have the above mentioned registry set to "1" already.
what can be the problem?

NaviPanel won't load my TomTom - help... (please)

My HKLM/Software/HTC/NaviSW only has (Default), BTMsgState, BTName, MovieState, TaskBarShift and TwoFingerEvent as strings.
I can't see anything in this lot that could possibly load and run any navigation software and my NaviPanel certainly won't load my TomTom navigator software (ApplicationVersion 7917).
TomTom runs just fine normally on my HD2 but won't load through NaviPanel which has only 'Make a Call' available - all the other icons are grayed out...
Any idea on how I get NaviPanel to load and use TomTom?

Yep, I've spent a chunk of today searching through this entire forum - but just can't figure out how to get NaviPanel to run my TomTom.
I found a copy of the dll "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll" and dumped that into my \Windows folder (I didn't have any NaviSW dlls there at all) and I created a new registry string named "MiddleLayerDLL" and gave it the value "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll" and soft-reset my HD 2 twice for good measure.
Still nudda. Zip. Zilch. I load NaviPanel and still just get the Phone icon available and all the others are grayed out. No error messages, nothing. Just grayed icons for all the rest. My TomTom is loaded onto my SD card and works perfectly from its own .lnk...
Is there a particular version of the "NaviSWMiddle_TomTom.dll" file I need? I just located the only one I could find on the web and downloaded that.
While I can happily registry edit, editing dll files is a little beyond me.
What am I missing that prevents NaviPanel from loading TomTom?

I has asked HTC Tech Support and they told me that Navipanel would work ONLY with CoPilot. So this is it unless someone comes with a work-around solution

Finally got cooperation out of NaviPanel!

I edited the new Config.ini file sitting in the new CoPilot folder to include "Storage Card/" in the pathway before "Program Files/Navigator/TomTom Navigator.exe" and it is now happily functional! (This cured the "-2147479552" error...)
You can have TomTom installed on an SD card and this CoPilot work-around will get NaviPanel to cooperate!
Finally got there! Phew!

Footprints help.

I have a HD2, that came with a 15 day trial of CoPilot.
I want to use footprints but I don't want to pruchase CoPilot, when I click on the co-ordinates or address in Footprints it tries to open CoPilot, is there a way to get it to search the co-ordinates in google maps or orange maps?

Warning: if you try the following solution, you'll have disfunctions on your navipanel
for google maps the solution is very simple: just rename or cancel the folder CoPilot on internal memory of your HD2, or cancel the .exe of copilot inside this folder (splashscreen.exe too)
Or you can achieve the same results with a registry mod in HKLM\Software\Htc\Navisw
there's a key named SDKModule...just cancel or rename the entry (the default is \Windows\alksdk.dll)
choose the way you prefer

can u explain this detailed pls. is there a way to auto transfer coordinates from footprints to igo or other gps software.

any ideas how to transform the coordinates???

Hopefully HTC will release a .dll or something for other gps software then CoPilot or GoogleMaps.

hope to be fastly done, actually footprint is so nice application but without coordinate transfer it becomes almost totally useless.
i hope that problem to be solved.
meanwhile copilot looks like a kid toy in respect to igo, so its nonsense to use footprint only with copilot ...

i tried exactly this, but when i click on the co-ordinate in footprints, it says "copilot.exe is not found"
