[Q] Need help hacking my MFU W72 - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I got myself this phone some time ago: http://www.solonomi.com/index.php/m...gps-wifi-word-excel-msn-and-dual-cameras.html
I'm quite happy with it, but I need help, maybe a registry hack, to overcome a little problem it has.
The problem is that the Enter key on the qwerty keyboard, when used inside Word Mobile or other word processors (I've already tried DocumentsToGo and Softmaker Office 2008) acts as the Ok button, so, instead of inserting a blank line, Word saves the file and closes it. I've installed FingerKeyboard and I can overcome the problem using the virtual keyboard, but that's pretty annoying.
The most strange thing is that I've seen it randomly working like it should, but I can't find a way to make that the default behaviour.
Thanks in advance.

HELP -- lost my virtual keyboard

Have had a series of problems over the past two days, seemingly the result of Resco Keyboard Pro which apparently has some issues with the Hermes platform(?), at least from some other threads on the subject.
Ended up bricking my TyTN (using Imate ROM/ExtROM) -- even hard resets would not restore it. So I had to reflash it. Decided to use the latest Cingular ROM (1.34) with most of the HTC TyTN ExtROM (but I also installed much of the Cingular ExtROM). Then tediously reinstalled my software (except for Resco Keyboard).
Seemed to work OK at first but now I've lost control of my SIP -- had it set to Keyboard but that no longer appears in the bottom tray -- when I open a program it flashes a moment or two so I know it's supposed to be there but I can't access it. So now I have no virtual means of input, which I rely on.
DISCOVERED SOURCE OF PROBLEM: Pocket Breeze has option that allows "show" or "hide" SIP and I'd apparently set this to "HIDE". That solves fundamental problem but not the issue with Resco Keyboard Pro -- it still will not work even when selected.
Thanks!

Need an app that does NOTHING!

This might sound strange, but I'd need a program for WM5 Smartphones that can be called by a symbolic link (*.lnk) that I'd assign to a HW key and that does not do anything, just immediately returns without even switching the display. Does anyone have a crazy thing like that?
Thanxx, Mixx
PS: I am not totally crazy. I just have an HTC Excalibur (but the O2 XDA Cosmo version) that has a HW key for the Internet Explorer. I need to hijack that key, because I need to have a way to enter accented characters and I refuse to pick them from a huge table with the cursor. I managed to use AEKeymap, but if I use the current IE-key to switch to accented, it will first call the IE and only when I return (by e.g. ESCAPE) does it put down the right symbol. I figure, if I remap that key to this "does-nothing-app" (and I know how to use SHORT_IE.lnk), I'll be OK.
Currently I hijack the Messaging key for this purpose. That has the same problem, but if I am in an Email or SMS, it is no harm that it jumps to Messages (ends up where it started from, since I am in that app already). Thus I can have accented character in Emails, but not in any other application.
Nobody could help so far, but I am just too stubborn. This must be a solvable problem.

Wonderful, wonderful, thanks a million.
Works exactly as I described above.

Slow Changing of Input Method?

Guys, I have a question.
I used to have an iPaq 6300 running WiMo 2003, when selecting input methods there is an arrow beside the input method you click on to bring up the menu that lets you choose between Keyboard, Block Recognizer, Transcriber or Letter Recognizer. This was instantaneous! The moment you press the arrow, the menu pops up and you can switch input methods instantly.
On my new Atom Exec though this is not the case. You have to press the input method icon first, which brings up the arrow, then click on the arrow, then wait like a minute before the menu pops up. What gives? Is this really how all WiMo5 devices work? Is this a problem with WiMo5 or with the Atom Exec in particular?
It is annoying because it makes it harder to switch between input methods. Could someone tell me the score on this?
Thanks,
My bad, I fiddled around with the Atom a bit more and fixed the problem by doing a Hard Reset. Now I set the PPC back up to how I like it and it's working flawlessly.
Hmm after some time the problem seems to be back. It looks like the phone bogs down with stuff after a while, causing this problem. I don't feel like reformatting, does anyone have a fix, or a program that cleans up and optimizes your PPC?
this is an issue of WM5.
It also happens to WM6. The more applications you installed, the slower it will get (not sure what kind of application though). Well, Atom Life has 1GB of ROM. Of course people will start installing a lot of applications.
Anyway, I read somewhere in the forum stating that if you have more than 10 today plugin installed, the SIP will take a some time to appear. The plugins don't necessary be active. I mean, the ones not active are also counted. I have not confirmed this yet though.
I have more than 40 programs installed in my atom. It didn't slow down that much (only 5 to 10%) but what I usually do is to backup everything first before I install anything. At the first sign of speed reduction or bugs, I just do a restore. I have more than 15 today plug-ins both active and inactive. However, one thing I noticed is that it is better if you install your non-essentials to your sd card. It doesn't matter if you do a hard reset, they will still be there and if you use a tray launcher or clauncher, you can configure the icons to reappear even if you do not re-install them. This way, you reduce the clutter in your main memory and at the same time save you the trouble of re-installing. The reconfiguration of the executable icon will take some time but it is still faster than re-installing 30+ programs. It is important though to maintain a storage of no less than 17MB. Once you go below this, you will really see the reduction in speed and will be pissed off with your PPC. By the way, do not use Opera or any modified IE (tab browsing and downloading. by the way, Opera is good with downloading but sucks in handling your PPC's memory) while doing something else with your PPC. It will really really slow down your PPC.
i posted this same thread sometime ago, but there was no solution. At last i discover the culprit. I see the difference in speed when i install Embedded Windows VB Runtimes. regardless whether i install it in the memory card or the main memory.
Got this info from another site, it really works.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
make WM5 SIP faster (加快輸入法) (not a joke)
X51V ENG A12 + Ce-Star 2.8R2A + Monster SIP + MS IME for JAP works well.
But I am not very sure "every WM5 PPC" works well, too.
After installing a lot of softwares, WM5 SIP becomes slow.
You can make it fast again.
1. install resco explorer 5.42 and resco registry at \Device
2. use resco registry to export the registry of
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID
to a file (like CLSID.reg) at PPC, or SD, or CF
donnot edit or modify CLSID.reg
3. use resco registry to delete CLSID
4. use resco explorer to execute CLSID.reg to import the registry CLSID back
5. turn off PPC, soft reset
It is amazing like magic.

Weird... it really works. Everything back to normal. Menu is displayed instantly after tapping on the list button.
I'm using Atom Life WM6, so this mean that it also works for WM6.
Urk Double Post
Aha! O2's proprietary software is a bunch of Today plugins! That may be the culprit. I noticed the a while later though after the O2 software was installed.
I have no perceptible slowdown on the Exec other than the input method switching. I just need to fix that!
My main memory is about 85% free (83.6MB) and yes I do install all the non-essentials to the SD card.
MightyOx I'll try your method hopefully this fixes this issue. While "upgrading" to WM5 I thought it would be a completely better experience, but I'm finding WM5 has issues and that quite a few things were done better in WM2K3 (like the SIP switching speed) or how about creating a new SMS message in WM2K3 you only needed 2 taps here in WM5 you need 3. *roll eyes* sometimes I wonder what developers are thinking when they take steps backwards like this.
On the other hand I love being able to rotate the screen, and Voice Command 1.6 was totally worth it.

It's not O2's software. It just happen to be the next software you've installed before the problem show itself. It can be any software. As I said in my previous post, it will happen after you've installed a certain number of software. I think it is WM5 and WM6 related.
Anyway, the workaround is already posted. So, I have no more complain about this problem.
Yeah, looks like it's not. I tried Mightyox's method, THANK YOU SIR my Atom is running fine again. It's like once you pile over some registry entries over the CLSID directory, it takes time to get it. So the solution is to delete the registry key and "re-enter" it so it goes back on top. Very strange but if it works then more power.
Tried it on my flame...Wow...works like a charm

J2ME on Moto q9c

Hi all, I have a question. I am running Esmertec Jbed on my Motorola Q9c. Up until recently I have used the Cloudyface download, but am trying to find a solution to the screen issue. On the Moto Q9c, Esmertec Jbed leaves a bar at the bottom of the screen (between the menu bar and the bottom of the app) as if it were a windows window not fully maximized. I realize this is a small complaint but it is really annoying, running programs in full screen helps, but not when you have to fill in any information field.
Also when I tried to install the newer version (20080222.3.1) I cannot run one of my main apps (JabpLite - an incredible free finance program) and there is also no shortcut added to my programs list.
What I am hoping for is either an updated Esmertec that solves these issues or a link to a different solution (I remember having issues with the IBM solution too, i think it didn't like that the q9c uses the "back" key for backspace and thus wouldn't let you erase anything you typed in)
You would think that WM6 would just have a native Java Console, who's idea was it to leave that out heh, oh well, I really respect this community so I appreciate all of your time and help.
papaslides
I have the same issue, bar on the bottom of the screen, and no backspace when using the IBM release. I wish someone would make a version specifically for WM6 that works regardless of your phone type.
java quitting with sound?
Whenever I try to play a game with sound, emertec java quits. any ideas why or how i can fix this?

'Ctrl' key on Touch2 Keyboard

After this issue, fate had worse things for my P3400i(gene). It fell down and the speaker stopped working. Frustrated with repeated issues, I decided to dump my gene and I picked up the Touch 2 (the special version without 3G and GPS).
Now, the P3400i had a 'Ctrl' key in its keypad which was handy for copying, pasting, selecting et al, just like a desktop. But I cant find the 'Ctrl' key on my Touch Keypad. Is n't it really there or am I missing something?
I think you are right: There is no Ctrl-Key in the keyboard. But look out for the free Program Total Commander: It's not allowed for me to post links (so search google for that tool) , it's a file manager with an "integrated" Ctrl-Key for copying, etc....
No, its not here. Missin nothing.

Thanks L.J.Silver. 'Total Commander' is a file manager. What I am looking for is a keypad that comes with a control key. I want to have the 'Ctrl' key when I am typing say an SMS or working on a word file. I did come across SPB Keyboard but its not a freeware. I am going to try it and see if its worth the money. In the meantime, pl let me know if you know of another solution.
You can use Finger Touch Keyboard. However it's shareware but works fine without issues. It has various skins which can be used and contains Shift as well as Ctrl Keys.
Here's the link:

Naveen: Thanks a ton for this one. They have a stripped down freeware version as well. I installed it and it works yahoo!
