Hi guys,
I have a small problem with ActiveSync. Sometimes it just hangs there with "waiting for network" message, until I disable the data connection and let ActiveSync dial out again. Account syncs with Google.
I already disabled the DNS chache via the registry, but it doesn't help. When I click on Synchronize the application goes into "connected" status but the mails are not being received or sent... until I long press the End key and terminate data connection so that Active Sync connects it again... Then the issue is resolved for some time.
This happens at random, can't find any pattern. I tried disableing the proxy server in connections but that doesn't help either.
Any thoughts?
Grtz

Hi, I'm hoping someone may be able to help:
I'm running Windows Mobile 5 on an O2 XDA Exec
I connect my device to the internet using 802.11b connecting to a wireless access point
I configured email for two email accounts,
One is a POP3 account and the other is a hotmail account
I've been able to send/receive emails from my mobile device as expected...up until today that is...
Just today I'm now no longer able to send/receive emails
I now get the following message on my device on attempting to send/receive emails
Cannot Connect
Cannot connect with current connection settings.
To change your connection settings, tap Settings
<Settings>
This message repeats itself. It appears the device is polling for a connection
Having done some reading on the topic
(here http://www.pocketpcmag.com/_archives/Sep04/VPNConnection.aspx) it appears that
somehow my connection settings are messed up.
Has anyone come across this problem and come up with a fix
I've always had the "My ISP" option set on both
"network management" settings (i.e. connections>advanced>select networks)
and this has been working fine up until today.
So for both the options in "network management", i.e.
"Programs that automatically connect
to the internet should connect using"
and
"Programs that automatically connect
to a private network should connect using"
I have "My ISP" as the connection setting
For reference, I'm able to establish a wireless connection to the internet
using the device and browse as expected (I'm using the Opera browser).
I've read the guide here (http://www.pocketpcmag.com/_archives/Sep04/VPNConnection.aspx) so understand why I might want to use the "My Work Network" connection option. I have no requirement for this so have set both connection options to "My ISP" and this has been working as
expected up until now...
By the way, on top of this MSN Messenger refuses to sign in (Pocket MSN sign-in failed)
and since this is linked to my hotmail email settings, I'm not able to send/receive any hotmail
Many thanks
Funnily enough had the same issue with mine today!!
Exactly the same - MSN, Email and Internet sites (like google wouldnt work)...however (as I have Orange M5000) the Orange WAP internet sites were fine.
I did so many things to try and get it to work (Not sure which one actually did it to be honest)
But I used the reg hack to keep data connected - that was the first to be disabled so now it connects then disconnects.
I also use Phone Alarm - This was causing me lots of problems so if you've got it check the options. With phone alarm i had entered my SIM PIN code - no good this had to be disabled - In fact phone alarm is now just switching profiles and is working fine as long as no security PINs are on or data connection monitoring/logging. Also just made sure for "Orange World" (My default Network) that the internet access point was correct.
...to be honest thats all I can think of - but its working now.
They are complicated devices and mine has given me more headaches in my first week than the 10 months i had with the Blue Angel (M2000)...still shouldnt complain too much the M5000 was a free upgrade.
Hope you get it sorted
Matt
my cellphone load gets suck out most of the time because it connects to the internet on its own, is there a setting/program that prompts me first if i want to connect to gprs...
many thanks
Hi,
Your phone is most likely trying to connect to check your email. To prevent this happening, from your Inbox select Menu/Tools/Options. Click on your email account, press Next till you reach page 4 then Options. De-Select the box which says 'Connect and check for messages every:'
Hope this helps.
GPRS connection
I have a similar problem using exchange push email. I have established an Internet connection with WLan and checked that I can access my webmail (which is my Exchange mail). Despite this to update email the phone automatically connects GPRS - this is really annoying. I read once that this is set in the registry when one installs the operator customisations. Can anyone tell me how to change this?
this tool
http://www.gb-soft.cz/xdaII/
can be set to auto disconnect gprs after x seconds/minuts
GB Soft Tweak
Thanks for the suggestion.
I tried this and it doesnt seem to fix the problem. Although I am not excactly clear on the settings.
I tried the Turn Off GPRS option with a 5 min setting, trued Search GPRS [G] on start radio and Search [G] on start GPRS connection.
With regards
Jeff
Hey everyone! I need some help with my 8125!
This just happened out of the blue today, no changes were made on the phone or the computer it connects to via USB. All the sudden I can no longer load webpages or check email using POP. Both give me a pop up error stating: "Cannot connect with current connection settings. To change your settings, tap Settings."
The weird thing is that Agile messenger is connected just fine and I'm sending and receiving IMs perfectly
I've rebooted the computer. Restarted the phone. No fix!
I've deleted the phones profile from activesync. Reconnected. No Fix!
I've deleted the sync source "windows pc" on the phone. Reconnected. No Fix!
I've re-checked all the settings I can think of, all are fine.
After all that, only Agile Messenger works through USB! IE and POP still wont work! I do not have a proxy setup on any of my connections on the phone, so that's not the cause...
Any help??
Thanks in advance!
Anyone have a strange issue when Outlook is open and syncing with the WM device after disconnecting the WM device the Outlook connection window immediately comes up. At this point I cannot send/receive it fails to connect to the pop server.
It does not happen all the time but sometimes it does. I have to reboot the PC to get Outlook to find the pop server again.
Help...thx
Is there a way to stop automatic send/recieve of email when connecting the HD2 to the PC via sync center? I only ever want to check for emails manually when travelling. When I connect my HD2 to the PC via sync it always pops up a message to enter the username and password for the email account (I don't store my password in case my phone is lost). I have set it to only manually send/recieve email in the options but this only seems to be for it connecting over 3G and doesn't stop it connecting when connected to my PC. Is there a way to disable it? It's very annoying.
Cheers,
Richard.
Same problem here.
Did you find a solution meantime ?
