the since the other day, I noticed the location weather function has stoped working/updating. I havnt changed anything as far as I know. I have 1.48, the sms and camera patch installed on a unbranded uk leo. it worked after I applied the patches I'm pretty sure.
I'm based around london. when I go to update weather, the little update status spins, but after a few seconds, no change. although individual locations do update.
any ideas?

UK T-Mobile Leo with 1.43 in the UK.
My Location + Weather worked for one instance and has since refused to work, much like this feature did on my Blackstone on 3 Network.

It was fine for the past few weeks since I've had the Leo. 1.43 and then 1.48 recently. But now, nothing!
Hmm.. There are already quite a few threads on this subject.
The bottom line is that this feature works in some locations and not in others. There is no complete solution to this as yet, just some workarounds, such as 'de-activate feature and use locations entered manually'. You can find more information if you search for the other threads.
try to download through another connection,
for me sometimes its not working through hsdpa but working through gprs or wifi...

Same here, since I update to 1.48 I'm getting all sorts of bugs. Never had any problem with 1.43

just been trying to update the weather tab on my blackstone.
tried via wi-fi and HSDPA and after about 15 seconds the tab displays "CONNECTION ERROR - Do you want to try again etc etc"
bit strange, all other internet based stuff works fine so no problem connecting with Messenger, IE, Opera, Google Maps etc.
tried adding some more locations but they don't want update either. anyone else getting this >

Hmmm - working fine for me. Now I used wifi and got updates for AMS, NY, ZH, GE, BE, LON
I have the same issue for over 3 days now, since i did a hard reset.
All tweaks on this forum i tried out and nothing works. It DID work before, but after the hard reset it does not work any more.
All other internet application work well.
I have no ideas. I tried even with the weather database editoer 1.2 adding the "default" URL (which is actually some weird address, http://www.not2advanced.com).
The link works great in my browser, but not on the weather application
Yes Wifi works, but i want ti updated on 3G, not on wifi. I want it updated anywhere i amn, not on a damn wifi

Samz here, no more weather update .... in France. Nothing has changed in my config....
Also in the Switzerland the same problem. Server down. :-(
From time to time this thing happens, I really wish there was a way to get the weather updates from another server.

I'm looking for some advice concerning 3G connection from vodafone in The Nederlands. Right after putting new simcard into my HD I started getting this annoying:
"dialled...
cannot connect for an unknown reason..."
error every time some application tried to get a 3G connection. So decided to put some new cooked ROM based on 6.5. My old one was almost 1 year old and based on 6.1.
So picked up the new Laurentius en voila, it fixed the problem.
Played around a bit with this new rom and decided to check out the XannyTech Grid 1.2.5. Played around with it for one day. Had to soft reset a couple of times cause of HTC messaging that was freezing everytime it tried to read all the txt messages that I restored plus I played around with different tweaks from Advanced Confing etc.
Anyway after all that I soft-reseted for the last time, started up an Opera and bam... connection error again. Exactly as the one before. Did a hard reset, nothing. Same problem all the time.
Anybody experienced something similar ? What do you think it could be ? Should I upgrade my radio ? My current one is 1.13. I was thinking about upgrading to 1.17 but it's very much dependent on a service provider and place so I'm wondering if there's anybody from Nederlands who could give me advice on that, maybe there's some specific version that is the best for Voda ?

Running vodafone in NL here and have to say im having no problems.
Been running on the 1.14 since it was available and just last week switched to the 1.17 and thats running a bit better than the 1.14.
Also i've been running a lot of roms from this place and never experienced the issue you describe.
Suppose it might be the mix of 1.13 and the rillphone dll's found in the varying roms you tried. Since the radio and rillphone dll need to be compatible and support each others functions this might cause your issues.
So concluding my guess would be to try the 1.17 radio.

It should work, what you do is disconnect your data connection, turn of 3g and then on again, that normally does the trick!
Dont work, have also tried to flash back to stock rom(from Artemis), both 1.66 and 3.14. currently on Artemis V25.0, but also tried V36.0

Same problem here. I'm on Energy Oct 13 Cookie, radio 2.12.50.02_2. Location update works for ca 12hrs and then stops working. After that update only via Wifi.
Any ideas?

What works for me is turning airplane mode off and then on again, annoying but it does work!
Maybe
Go to Start Menu, Setting, Connections, Connections.
Then click on Advanced and Select Network.
Try to change both Network.
Then launch QuickGPS and go update your locaiton.
(I said maybe ^^)
Does Google maps pick up your location? I think the weather location uses the Google API's.

been having this problem for a few day, with a few different roms including the new 3.14 from T-Mobile USA. Tried the toggleing 3g and the data connection and it worked

Yes. Google find my location.
it works in Oslo Norway, was there today, but not where i live. it worked before.
I've had this problem the last few days too. Presumed it was the custom ROM that I just flashed, as that's when I noticed (but I'd been running Android for a while so wouldn't have noticed before anyway).
As with others it works on wifi but not data connection.
Google Maps picks up my location.
Starting to think the problem is not our devices!

task 29,28 and diffrent roms
i also had this problem for several weeks with a l26 leo v4.5 rom. my location would not update within sense. nobody else seemed to have the same problen. sr, hr, reflash of same rom would not solve the problem. then i found a new rom i wanted to flash and i used task 29 and 28 before flashing the new rom. after flashing my location would once again update and never had the same issue again.

it's a carrier tower problem and the way it accesses weather from accuweather. It happens to all htc devices from time to time. I suggest y'all check out here instead, much better weather app:

i'm bumping this. my HD2 now only says what County i'm in, not the Town.
But i have now got a Desire HD, and the Desire is showing what town i'm in?
What is that all about? i'm not the only one, why the Desire HD but not the HD2?
T-Mo HD2 Weather/Location/Time not Updating via 3G
My wife and I are experiencing the same problems too with our HD2's.
It started last Saturday (02-19-11) when I left the town my mom lives in (over 1.5hrs from me) for two days my phone was stuck on her town.
As for my "location settings", we've already removed all the other locations and have updated to the latest offical roms. Still nothing.
I started researching the problem some and came across this as a manual fix:
At the homescreen select Phone -> Menu -> Options... -> (scroll down to bottom) Band -> (Select) GSM and then close out back to the homescreen.
From here you can go and update your weather again and it works but the down side is now you're in Edge mode. To put it back into 3G, go back through the same steps and at the end select "auto".
I have also tried updating to the latest version of Google Maps and rebooted and still nothing. Yes, Google Maps locates me via GPS and my CoPilot8 also finds my location.
Even more confusing when I switch over to Andriod via SD Card, my weather/location update just fine. ARGH!
So any help would be greatly appreciated!

My T-mobile HD2 refuse to update My-Location while all other cities added seem to update fine! This started 3 days ago! I am still running original ROM from March 2010 and did not install or uninstall any programs since two months. Do I have to update to get new Radio? Could this be an issue? What is so odd is that when go to Settings->Wireless Controls->Phone->Band and choose GSM and the My-Location updates along with all other cities on EDGE. When I go back to 3G it does not!
I tried soft reset but does not help. By the way HTC Location Service is checked. I've looked in other threads that discuss this topic but found no solution.
Can any one help me out please?

Task 29, hard reset, rom flashing (stock and cooked), tweaks, exchanging sim cards, you name I've done it. And absolutely nothing has worked. I called TMO and they told me it's a known issue that will be addressed by HTC. The rep stated they would file a ....i fogot, and get back to me when a solution is found. Well, I'm sure HTC could care less, and TMO washed their hands by passing the buck to HTC. They would not exchange it. If you do a search you'll see that others have had the same problem with no means of getting it to work.
It will work if you input a location as your location. I went into setting and placed, Mcallen, Texas, as "my location" which happens to be just 3 miles down the road. The weather will update on Edge or 3G if you manually place the location, but keep in mind it will not change locations as you move from city to city.
I hope your device isn't plagued with the same issue as mine. Maybe all you gotta do is reinstall the rom. This may just be wishful thinking...

There are 2 check boxes in the Location setting. The second one should be left unchecked. See screenshot.

You can even use your same exact city and it will update. Mine did this for almost a month, then one day it just started working again. It has something to do with them upgrading the 3G towers. If you turn off 3G and change to edge as described in another thread in this forum it will work perfectly.
Well, I called HTC and they told me that I need to upgrade to new ROM from T-Mobile. I may do that and see if it solves the problem.
i had the same issue until i upgraded to the new tmobile upgrade 3.14 rom. it help my issues, with a faster rom and even my weather started working again. i hope this helps.

They are full of it. It's something to do with Tmobile's data network. My weather didn't work for weeks after the upgrade to 3.14. It's working now. Your weather will come back. I do recommend 3.14 though.
if your weather is not updating try changing your world clock to "my location" instead of a set location. Also there are times were the weather information does not get passed along for some reason and it affects weather bug as well as it will also say that it is unable to retreive data
I've got a new permutation! My weather info updates, however the location says United States of America! Are we having fun yet?!?
Probably Local Service Problem
I had the same problem a couple of months ago. I switched to Edge and got the My Location weather back. A few days later, I switched to 3G for another reason, and my weather began updating again. As others have said here (and in other threads), the most likely problem is with local towers not accessible. This is usually a temporary problem. But I doubt it's your phone, especially if it has worked in the past.
When using Bing or Google Maps, I sometimes see my location a long ways from where I actually am. This is due to the fact that my phone can't find enough towers at the time to get a good location.
I finally upgraded to new official rom as told by HTC but the MyLocation still does not work! It seems like the towers in my area may not be sending enough/proper data to the phone. I pulled out my Pharos 137 (3G) and tested using Google maps with out engaging the GPS and it stats unable to determine the location! Same happens with Sony Xperia X10(with T-Mobile 3G bands)! I finally concluded that it is T-Mobile towers in my area and hope they will fix them soon!
Ever since the new year, the clock on my HTC has been advancing too quickly. Its normally an hour at a time, although once it was 30 minutes or so. At worse, it has been around 12 hours too fast. Ocassionally it will correct itself, only to switch back later. I havent had this connected to the net via wifi or directly to my pc and I havent been roaming. I have tried a soft reboot with no luck.
Ive disabled the automatic sync for now.
Anyone heard of this problem - cant seem to find anyone experiencing this recently via forums or the net?

You're not alone! We've got the same problem on most of our work HD2's on Orange (Same network as you effectively now Orange and T-Mo have merged networks into EE).
HD2's with Android on them aren't affected, but HD2's with stock WinMo 6.5 ROM's are.
EE have suggested installing the latest firmware (not sure on version number at the moment) from the HTC website which is a daylight savings fix, but doubt this will make much difference seeing as the UK switched to GMT months ago! I'll try installing this at some point, don't hold out much hope though so for the moment we've been disabling automatic timesync.
I suspect it's something EE have been doing with their network that has affected WinMo 6.5 on the HD2 somehow.

We have the same problem her in Denmark on HD2 and I have seen the problem reported for other HTC devices with WinMo 6.5
I am on Vodafone in the UK with a totally stock HTC 1.66 ROM, WinMo 6.5
Twice in the last 48 hours my clock has advanced by exactly 1 hour sometime during the day. Today it was around midday but I did not notice the exact time.
Glad I'm not alone on this. I thought I was going mad!
I'd forgotten about the time sync option. It was on so Ijust turned it off. Will wait and see if the problem persists tomorrow.

Thanks for all the replies - I thought I was the only one! Looks like its a Winmo6.5 problem with handling 2013 date updates rather than a specific network? - unlikely to get a fix then I would have thought...
Things have been fine with the sync turned off for a day, so looks like its not the device itself.
Yeah, mine did not advance an hour today with time sync switched off.

So far my problem is fixed with sync turned of:
Start-Settings-Menu
all settings
Personal
phone
GSM/UMTS
select Time synchronization - get settings then untick Automatic time zone, then ok
Have been OK since friday 4/1
But as we have 2400 devices (HD2 and Touch Diamond 2 (yes - I have users reporting the same problem on WinMo 6.1 devises))
Is there an knowledge of a "central fix" from either operators or HTC?

we've got this problem too on the majority of our corporate HD2s. I've tried turning off the time sync but having monitored this, the devices are still changing their time. O2 are saying it's not their end doing anything.
has anybody got any further with this or is turning the time sync off for you working?

Strangely the workaround (turning off time sync) worked from saturday 5/1 and until today 9/1.
From today my 1100 corporate HD2's is advancing with 1 hour again.

Just spoken to HTC, they have assured me that the daylight saving fix on their website should fix this. I won't hold my breath as it says it's not applicable to the T-Mobile devices, which we also have the problem on

Thats odd - havent had any problems since I turned the sync off. Havent switched it back to see if its fixed yet - can anyone confirm?
