Tmobile UK issues - GPRS 3G

Has anybody else got any problems at the moment. About a week ago I upgraded my Radio to 1.43, and for the first time I decided to test my GPRS connection.
Now, if I launch Pocket IE, it connects to GPRS (i've got 3g disabled), and just sits there "locating", and eventually times out with "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost".
I'm in a strong signal area and never had problems before. As a check I updated to radio 1.46, but still the same issue.
It isn't just PIE, it's opera and newsbreak as well, so a definite internet connection issue.
Any guesses of what to check for ?

I had major problems yesterday (Kent and London) but all seems ok today.

So upgrading the radio should not have caused any problems ? I was going to start looking for the link to take the phone back to the one it came with...

I've been having trouble this morning in Surrey/Hants/Berkshire border area. I'd just installed a new version of WLM so I thought it was that!
Seems better now, but still a bit hit and miss.
I guess they must be working on it at the mo (hopefully)!

glad to hear (in a way), that it's not just me. Oh well, gave me an excuse to upgrade the radio again. Hopefully it will sort itself out soon.

Do T-mobile have some kind of status pages as per BT/ISPs, to see if there are any current issues ?

Not that I've ever found. If you phone CS then they usually tell you that there are no known issues, then it comes out later that there were, so that's a bit useless.
I'm still having problems. Using WLM with delivery of mail as received, and that is constantly 'reconnecting' then once in a while it reconnects ok and a few emails get through, but it's not 'right' yet.
As you say, best not to do anything hasty, give it a while longer.

worked occasionally last night and tried it first thing this morning.
However, just tried it now and it's down again.
Maybe I'll ring CS anyway and see if anythings happening.

Hmmm, something odd going on with my tytn then.
I thought I'd check the connections section, and went to Proxy server settings. It was ticked, pointing to 149.254.201.32.
As soon as I unticked this and went back to IE, I suddenly had connection again ! However if I go back to connections, it's still ticked !!!?
Any guesses ?
I've recently installed Slingplayer mobile, and I wonder if that is upsetting things ?
* edit * well the IP address is of course t-mobile, but it seems that going in and unticking this resets the connection (even though when you go back to it, the tick is back on). I think it's a sling player issue, as I ran it, and as soon as I tried to reconnect back to GPRS, I couldn't. Then went back in and reset the proxy, and now it's fine. Odd !

hmm, not slingbox then, as when I soft reset the phone it does the same thing, can't connect to the internet via PIE,Opera, Activesync, Newsbreak etc.
Went back into connections and took the proxy off, and then it starts working again.
Have other tmobile users got this proxy address in their connection settings ?
*edit* ok, now found a cab that cleared the tmobile proxy settings/tick and now it's all working fine. Cheers for listening

T-mobile data problems facebook location weather

Got my new HD2 this morning - very happy with it - love the screen, love HTC sense. Don't like the big ugly camera lens sticking out of the back and I am not liking some of my data issues.
Location/Weather - this morning I was in Tokyo, lunchtime Paris and this afternoon I was in Province of MoscRU - wherever that is. I'm in Reading. If I go to weather then click on Update Now I just get the message 'There was a connection error while attempting to download weather data. Retry?' It does seem to know what the weather is like in London but it doesn't take a brain surgeon to predict it's going to be 'Partly Cloudy' anywhere in the UK so I. On my home page I get no weather and no location.
YouTube - I had problems with that not connecting at all - error message to do with the connection but a hard reset sorted that out.
Facebook - All I get is rotating coloured balls for a couple of seconds and then the word Fetching... in the centre of the screen. On every page - apart from Info and there is a little data on there. It seemed to log in OK but doesn't want to show anything.
E-mail works fine - after I removed the proxy server tick
Browser works fine.
This is all on mobile network - I will try with wi-fi tonight - although wifi is not much use as if I have wifi then 99% of the time I have a PC.
Sorry if you think this should not have been a new thread but after searching the forum I found nothing too similar.
Is this just WM probs - I had a WM6.1 Touch HD in the past and most things sort of work when you have tweaked and messed around. I am moving from an iPhone now and for all the negative points of the iPhone it does mostly work.

My weather doesn't update from my location, and I'm constantly in Toyko!
Haven't managed to get outlook working at all. Hotmail syns well, for maybe the first 10 minutes. Then doesn't do anything. I have tried the proxy trick, it was already unticked.
If I hard reset then hotmail will work again for a while.
I'm on vodafone however.
Any help will be good, am completely new to win mob!

having problems with it myself on TMobile. I'm gonna ring them in a bit and ask them about that proxy setting stuff. seems strange to have it auto setup if everyone has to turn it off. my YouTube doesn't work with or without it. Igot them to turn the child lock off last night.

I'm on 3UK. I can confirm that everything works beautifully on both wifi & 3G. Sounds to me like a T-Mobile issue. Perhaps you can just use Google Map to do a simple test (without using GPS) to see what location it thinks.

Sorry if you've already done this, but I had exactly the same issue when I first turned on my HD2 - no Sense location, no facebook login etc. But then I turned the phone off and on again and it all worked fine....

Certainly not a T-Mobile wide issue. Location and weather work without issue for me.
Facebook isn't working currently, but that's a facebook not a HD2 or T-Mobile issue (can only currently log in through m.facebook, not main site or apps).
Youtube - fine.

My weather / My Location updated fine when I went home (small village outside High Wycombe - I was impressed because it told me the village - not the nearest big town.
Cannot get Facebook to work - tried it with an O2 sim card - same problem.
In response to Wilbur - it has been turned on and off numerous times as well as several soft resets and 4 hard resets.
In response to ahaaee - I did try Google maps - it new exactly where I was. I assume Google maps uses GPS whereas My Location uses Mobile network triangulation - just a guess???

The majority of people aren't in the situation where a few paces in either direction would change your weather or time zone, so I don't the precision of GPS is really required.
That also more likely explains the bad locations. It's more likely that there's a tower or two in Reading that Google is getting confused about than it is that GPS would give such a random location for.

My weathet problem solved
Got my HD2 today. Had the same problem with weather/Location. Here is a very simple fix which worked for me:

For some reason, Google's location service and AccuWeather don't play together nicely in some parts of the country. You can work around the bug though by tapping the clock on the home tab (to get the "World Clock" screen), adding your (nearest) city and selecting it - the weather and time for that city will then always be shown (it won't automatically change location when you do, anymore). Also, obviously you can just add the relevant location in the weather tab to fix the problem there. The Hero has the same problem in the same locations, which makes it likely (but not certain) that it's not HTC's fault.

my location weather not working.

hi guys,
the since the other day, I noticed the location weather function has stoped working/updating. I havnt changed anything as far as I know. I have 1.48, the sms and camera patch installed on a unbranded uk leo. it worked after I applied the patches I'm pretty sure.
I'm based around london. when I go to update weather, the little update status spins, but after a few seconds, no change. although individual locations do update.
any ideas?

UK T-Mobile Leo with 1.43 in the UK.
My Location + Weather worked for one instance and has since refused to work, much like this feature did on my Blackstone on 3 Network.

It was fine for the past few weeks since I've had the Leo. 1.43 and then 1.48 recently. But now, nothing!

Hmm.. There are already quite a few threads on this subject.
The bottom line is that this feature works in some locations and not in others. There is no complete solution to this as yet, just some workarounds, such as 'de-activate feature and use locations entered manually'. You can find more information if you search for the other threads.

try to download through another connection,
for me sometimes its not working through hsdpa but working through gprs or wifi...

Same here, since I update to 1.48 I'm getting all sorts of bugs. Never had any problem with 1.43

[Q] Can't really get GoogleMaps to work... Leo_S 3.01

I have dumped the Leo 3.01 with AirExtreme's Oskithen Zero. Left everything in as it is... Ported Sys to 23569... (still need to do some bug fixing like phonecanvas etc and some tweaking) and all is working ok.. almost. Found out when i was on a weekend trip that Google Maps wasn't working. On startup it was only loading...after long waiting it threw me an error saying no data connection winihttp blablabla.. But i was sure that i had a connection cause at the moment i was looking for a fix over here (xda) and still having email, twitter, location service, wheather etc..
After searching a while someone posted that after doing Setup Connection Setup again it all worked fine, so i tried... and guess what... working again!
Simply don't get it. On first startup Connection setup did it's worked perfectly! even sets the time correctly...I was wondering if there were any others chef's or users having the same trouble or maybe even a fix for this???

weather update problem

for a few days i can't update weather on today screen.
on weather tab on the touchflo i can update whenever i want, but on today screen i get a error message like " no weather data".

Assume it worked before and you did not flash a new Rom meanwhile.....
In actual fact it is a buggy application and myself experience the same so now and than....
Sometimes it helps to repeat "update" a few times after each other.....

i didn't flash new rom. but i had to disable my 3g connecitons and go on from gprs

That could be the issue. See if you can update with USB cable from your PC.

Me either, I can't get data update for Singapore, Hong Kong and Macao. The rest looks fine.

i tiried but no sense. i think only 3g works for updating weather on today screen.

You do not need 3G to update weather. Go to Google maps and see if you have your current position registered and you enabled HTC location service.

used to have the same problem,
can update weather only thru Wifi or 3G.
had problems updating on locations with only GPRS signals,
the Htc update fixed it - ( darn i can't post outside links)
anyway check out the HTC official site for the touch2 weather update.

People, I have the same problem, except mine doesn´t work even with WIFI and ActiveSync. I live in Germany, but I moved to Ukraine for a while and my Local weather freezed on "Michendorf"- one of German cities. Have no idea what to do. There are now error signs or something like that. It just shows "updating"for 1 sec and then shows the same wrong data. ;( Roaming update is turned on, I even don´t need it, because I have ukrainian sim card here. GPS signal is also perfect. Connection is only GPRS or EDGE here, but it doesn´t even work with WIFI/PC.

I had the same problem. It happened (I think) after installing the weather update patch from HTC site. After a hard restart it updates only via WiFi. Maybe 3G or GPRS connection isn’t working because it’s unable to gain information about phone location. The location information doesn’t come from GPS but from internet provider(WiFi) or phone service provider(3G/GPRS) that’s why Google maps shows your approximate location based from that sources when the GPS is off.
