is anyone having a video playback problem with HTC video player ???
I have, tried openeing a rather low-res MP4 video, and it wouldn't open it; the screen was black and it only said "loading" or whatever.
I tried 3 or 4 times, and during the last attempt it said something like "fatal error - blah blah - ARM11"
I didn't risk trying openening any videos again
No problems here at all - with mp4 files. Any other format is... disappointing. Except maybe if you install another video player app.
the problem, i am experiencing is the video recorded with the handset can not be played at all. i had to do hard reset couple of times just to have it work again. this happens after i install some applications. i tried uninstalling the apps, but in vain.
really appreciate if anyone can help me out here !!!

If it works after a hard reset, but not after installing some apps, do a hard reset and then try playing a video after each installation. That way you can identify which app is causing the problem.
Sounds like you'll need another hard reset afterwards, but at least you'll know the app that is breaking the video playback, and you can let us all know so that no-one installs it again!
I will bet you its right after you install the youtube app, because it uses similar files (you may notice the video playback uses a UI similar to that in the playback in the YouTube app) Would like to know if this situation can be fixed myself, without having to resort to flashing a rom and losing my warranty

You're spot on dude. I device was playing videos very well until I installed Youtube. Noticed straight away it was that causing the problem. I haven't removed youtube simple because of the fact its a brilliant app! works brilliant with wifi. Such a shame its the only place I can see video footage!
SOME ONE PLEASE FIND A WAY TO FIX IT OTHER THAN UNINSTALLING YOUTUBE!
remove youtube app and still watch youtube on opera
You may find this thread useful in getting opera to work properly when you visit youtube dot com. That way you can get rid of the app and still watch vids from there - you can even cue vids up in a playlist exactly like on a desktop pc.

Is it possible to get Youtube movies working on the BA (running WM6), and if so, what player do I need?
The TCPMP player gives me a "RTSP protocol not supported" error when trying to look at a Youtube movie :/
hi there!
there is some kind of plugin/addon, which allows you to download youtube movies to your pda....
just search this forum or google for it, here is ONE source!
hope that helps....
regards,
krz
I have that tcpmp plugin, and it does work most of the time. I've run into some files on youtube that still give me an unknown media format error. Not sure why.
The Avot Media Viewer that someone posted about here a week or so ago works great though.
http://www.avotmedia.com/
http://m.avotmedia.com/
The Avot is OK but it needs much work to be more than OK.
I use the vTap.
http://veveo.net/
Use the search bar to browse uploaded videos from any embedded video website (like youtube, metacafe etc).
You can also have a feature of searching into wikipedia articles!
Very cool...
After doing a bit more digging, I installed Streaming Media v 2.10 build 518.700 (from High Tech Computer Corp.) on it.
It's working GREAT!

hi everyone!
well, i installed the HTC STREAMING cab, which was included in xplode's cabs. i dont know, what version this actualy is...
anyway, i can playback youtube movies, but the performance sucks big time.... lots of stuttering, not enjoyable at all.... is it just me experiencing this problem?
is the BA oo slow to playback such vids?
or am i doing something wrong here?
thx in advance,
krz
you should check your internet connection too...
me again!
have to add, that i now have the FLASHVIDEOBUNDLE.cab installed, which not only gives me great streaming playback using TCMP Player (make sure u have installed the right version first!), but in addition to that gives me the oppotunity to save the flash videos to your storage right away....
VERY COOL CAB!!! KUDOS 4 THE (true) CREATORS!
btw: that STREAMING thing that came with xplode's cabs still doesnt work... (my internet connection is of course up and running!!)
cheers,krz
okay, after playing around a little bit and after installing/deinstalling/reinstalling HTC STREAMING Software, i am afraid i screwed up flv playback completely...
every time i try to load a youtube site, pocketIE crashes and my device freezes, leaving me with soft reset as only solution!
i tried to play back flvs on the youtube mobile site as well, with no sucess. nothing happens! the vids just dont load....
ARGH!!!!!
keeps crashing and crashing.... (pocketIE keeps loading, the suddenly freezes!)
when trying to play mobile youtube in pocketIE, nothing happens.... (just loads 0kb, then stops...)

I read thru that post as well and as I wrote, I cannot play back m.youtube.com videos eitehr, it just sttarts loading and stops immediatly at 0KB again, thats it.
what streaming client do you have installed?
the one, that came with xplode's cabs?
or that one: RvBCrS_HTC_Streaming_Media.rar?
the easy and fast way, install my streaming media cab open m.youtube.com and it will stream with the player just fine, tested and working

well did you installed audio manager also ?, inside the cab there is verinfou.dl which is needed for most of the HTC software, but if you install them both it will work

Hello,
the phone played it befor, then after I deinstalled some software, it doesnt play any videos at all anymore!
It only shows a black screen and plays the sound!
Only the TCPM plays videos..
What should i do??
You need the correct codecs to play certain formats.
What exactly did you uninstall?
i have the same stupid problem....
i cant play video on youtube....
i thought that i need a codecs but i dont know which one....
note:as far as i remember youtube worked perfectly a week before
I've got the same problem,
I think it's to do with Coreplayer or TCPMP, once I installed these programs, Youtube videos wouldn't show any video only sound.
Because I use Coreplayer quite a lot, i haven't tried uninstalling yet. But I'll try it and use memmaid to clean the registry and see if that works...
hope you find something....
anyone experience thiss too?...... any videos i've taken with the camera won't play in the normal player, ie select the video from TF3D and press play, i get sound and no video again. The file will play through coreplayer though...
anyone else with the youtube problem get this aswell?

I Deleted now the whole memory! And nothing happend! Still the videos are not showing!
The problem is within the Windows Media Player, and I cant find a CAB, to reinstall this! Or at least install the standart codecs new!
.......
So? Noone can help me?!?!
I really do not know what i should do!
I hardreseted the phone again, but nothing happens! Only a black sreen and sound is comming up..
Please someone!
i tried to install youtube but no luck still the black screen....
i cant play my own recorded video with the default windows media player...
i searched and found that TCPMP is the reason
we need to reinstall the codec...
any help???
Yes, one way, to reinstall the Windows Media Player or the other way would be, to reinstall the codecs.. But I've not found any cab (not on the phone storage nor on the internet)..

How do I get the voice to catch up with the film. ( sorry I know it is not techy language)
I use MediaCoder to transcode video. It's free.

He is talking about encoding the movie.
You can try Windows Media Encoder (from Microsoft).
It's also free, and does a good job on encoding movies.
hi guys,
i seem to be having the same problem with the whole audio and video out of sync. i have tried a range of format eg. wmv, mp4, 3gp etc but all are about half a second out of sync. i have even tried core player and tmpcp but with no luck. did anybody else have this problem and manage to fix it? any help will be much appreciated
Hello,
I use the HTC Touch HD Video Converter which is very good. He is especially for WVGA 800 x 480 screens, and the quality of the movie is very good.
HTC Touch HD Video Converter v1.21
DVDFab6
I have not (yet) seen the problem with the sound you describe here.
I use DVDFab6 since a while, originally to convert videos to my iPod, but now also to my HD2.
I have a Touch Diamond too, but the screen is a bit too small to watch for longer time and it drains the batteries also very fast. I haven't tried yet fully, but my first tests show me I can do 3-4 hrs of video on one battery and still have enough power left to use it as a phone. Which is very useful if you have to do a lot of short flights.
I use the PS3 settings in DVDFab6 and adjust the display to 800x444 size, depending on the original size. I found that I can not play them directly from Mediaplayer, but if I click on them in the FileExplorer they start playing without any problem.
BTW, also the iPod m4v files play nicely without delays on the HD2
Yeah i have the same problem, the video/audio file is perfect on my pc but about half a second out of each other on my HD2. You can adjust the audio/video sync in core player but it shouldn't be happening in the first place.
hi guys, thanks for your help. i called htc tech support but all they were able to say was perform a hard reset, which sadly didnt fix the problem! even mp4 videos downloaded straight from the net have the same problem. such a shame because apart from that its an amazing phone. will keep trying and post up if i have any luck
I just tried the one that Braakie suggested and although it converted my 700Mb AVI film to a 500Mb MPEG 4 film, when i tried to copy it to my SD card on my HD2 it said the MPEG 4 format wasn't supported. Can someone enlighten me as to what formats are supported and/or what movie player they use.
I'm having the same audio sync issues as others here. I'm encoding using handbrake and when I play it back on the PC it is perfectly in sync. However when I play it back on the HD2 using the HTC video player the audio lags slightly but noticeably behind the video. When I copy it to my wife's Touch HD it plays fine, so it seems to be a problem with the HD2 software.
I'm running the stock Vodafone 1.43 ROM with all hotfixes applied. Will a ROM update fix this? Anyone else with this ROM having/not having this problem?
I'd be very grateful for any input.
Chaps,
Somewhere on XDA is Chainfire's video driver update (or a reference to it) which you should find and install to help overcome the lip synch issue.
If you can't find it using Search...http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all then go onto the Modaco site and its there somewhere under the Toshiba TG01 device.
Good hunting.
WB
Thanks for your help - I've found the driver here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592663
However, as far as I can see that's a 3D OpenGL driver and not something that I would expect to affect video/audio synchronisation. Unless, of course, you had the same problem and this fixed it for you? I don't really want to mess about with video drivers unless I'm sure it will fix it.
I was a little dubious and cautious myself but installing the driver did seem to make a difference, sufficient for me not to notice it as much.
Installation is a personal choice. You might want to make a full backup of your device using, say, SPB Backup, before you install. That way you can do hard reset and restore if you don't like the driver.
All the best,
WB
I have the same problem with youtube vids too, just had a replacement hd2, but it's just the same, skyfire, coreplayer, youtube you name it, audio lags the video...
Real pain in the butt for a device who's main feature is a huge screen...!!!

Well I installed the 3D driver, which was easy enough, but unfortunately it made no difference at all to the video/audio sync in either of the two driver modes so I uninstalled it again. (No need for a hard reset, thankfully). I'm using the video in this thread to test since you can easily tell whether it's properly in sync or not.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=612935
Oh well, it was worth a try - thanks for the suggestion.
Uggggh. This is the fourth time this has happened. What seems to trigger it is forcing the phone to turn off. I can't record videos, watch videos, or anything that involves hardware video decoding.
Whenever I watch a video in the Gallery, it says "Can't play this video." - I can use MX player to watch the videos on software decoding mode, but never Hardware Decoding mode.
The only way to fix it is to flash stock with Wugfresh's Root Toolkit.
Has ANYONE run into this problem besides me? Is there any hope for a fix. This is devastating. I'll have to reset all my work.

Stock with root. It's happened while unrooted too.
Try flashing custom rom or flash stock rom again see if it fixes the problem, If not relock bootloader and send back to google for a new one
Might be hardware problem

Yeah, flashing stock always fixes it, so I doubt it's a hardware problem. It's just weird that it even happens in the first place, and nobody else seems to have the problem.
I have the same problem after i tried many video player apps on Google Play and websites. My N4 worked perfectly before, I thinks this is software errors (but this problems still exists when i removed all installed video apps).
It works again after I made a Factory Data Reset (Settings -> Backup and Reset -> Factory Data Reset).
Same problem
I have same problem with my Nexus 4. The system is stock. I don't even know much about rooting etc.
I cannot play the videos from any app, Chrome, Youtube, Gallery. I can only watch from software decode mode of video apps. I cannot even record video from my camera
I realized this problem after using MX player. MX player cannot play movies perfectly on my hardware mod. Some videos don't have sound, some are not smooth. Thus I am using software mod. Now MX player cannot allow select hardware mode.
I will reset my phone tomorrow and will not install MX player. I will post the result from here.
----After Reset----
I have reset my phone and installed all apps previously installed except MX Player. The problem is over.

I have similar problem the video is divided in 3 parts and in black and white
i solved it by reinstall you tube app
youtube on PA 5.1
I'm having a similar problem, but it is not limited to youtube. I have tired plex too, and it also fails to play a video.
When I play a video youtube I just get "There was a problem while playing. Touch to retry"
In plex the video fails to play telling me to restart my plex media server and to reboot the phone.
I have rebooted the phone and it makes no difference.
Anybody have any ideas on how to fix that? Everything else seems to work properly on this rom so far, and the stock rom is getting more and more laggy which is why I'm trying different roms.
Anybody have any ideas?
**Update**
For some reason a video would start without video at times. When that happens if I change the quality to something lower than 480p, it actually works.
MX player works perfectly regardless of resolution.
Plex is completely broken, it will not work regardless of what I set the video to, it fails.
On a HTC One M8
