Flash Video - Android Software Development

Is there a way to bring the flash video support from the HTC Hero to other android devices like the Samsung Moment. I love the device< but it sucks in that it does not have browser flash support.

The hero has only limited flash support(flash lite i think), so its better without it, until adobe flash 10 pro hits mobile android devices. I've played around with the browser, the only flash that worked was HTC's website

Flash is very poorly implemented on ther Hero, honestly it wouldn't be worth porting even if it was possible (it would be pretty hard to port the full ROM - which you'd have to do - as there would be all sorts of driver issues).
Just wait for full flash support coming early next year.

ok. This is my first Android device. So far I like it. I have bben using windows mobile for 5 years. I miss my wmwifirouter and skyfire.

http://pocketnow.com/tech-news/pinch-to-zoom-in-internet-explorer-exists
i just watched this video and i dont see why the open screen project flash is not being released till wp7? they have it running on a hd2 and really smooth aswell. why wouldnt they release it?
That's the video Adobe released in February.
They did work on it, initially, but in march, they announced that they will drop all support for Windows Mobile, and work on Windows Phone 7 Series.
Pocketnow.com is usually very up to date-ish, but they were way too late on that vid.
thanks for the reply still tho they could have released what they had done so far just to keep us satisfied the flash atm is so rubbish it barely works and is way to slow
What are you guys looking to use flash for?
I can only think of hulu.

Adobe Flash Project

So im just wondering now that Adobe has cancelled development on flash 10 for our beloved beast, what are the chances that the test build that was used in this video leak? or maybe if flash 10.1 can be ported over from evo 4g once it's rooted?
I think we deserve a full blown flash 10.1 in out browser outside of Skyfire (though great it is)
Not sure how old this is but sure does look like flash 10.1 on IE on the HD2 to me!!!

Would be a shame to cancel this!
For now, just use skyfire. I have been able to watch flash videos on hulu and southparkstudios.com.
I would say there is a good chance we will see some windows phone 7 roms on here soon, along with android- both of which will have flash working.
@kristoff that's what im hoping
I need to agree with Jobs, adobe is lazy. I hope flash die and HTML5 be a new standard... Adobe don't deserve good future, too many years showing youtube videos with flash 10.1 and none release... Even flash for x64 don't exists for Windows and Flash with hardware accelerating have lot of bugs.

Fash Browser

Can you get a flash bowser for the x10?
This is a deal breaker for me if you can't as the desire ships with one.
No flash support as yet.
Who knows in the future. All being well the introduction of 2.1 to the x10 will provide the device will the capability of recieving the new adobe flash 10.1 plugin.
As it stands though I think that flash 10.1, requires 2.1. I don't think 1.6 will cut it.
The Desire as with HTC's other device uses variant of Flash called Flashlite. It's not the full fat version of flash and can be a bit hit and miss. I used to have it on my HTC Hero.

Thanks for the reply mate.
So in your opinion is it not worth getting the desire over a non fully functional flash program?
I just reckon the x10 looks amzing lol. Desire does not look so "desirable"

I like that.
I was faced with the same dilmma X10 or Desire???
If it wasn't for the for the lack of Multitouch and Colour support it would have been X10 all the way.
In the end I figured that although my hero was a solid handset, the Desire wouldn't be much different and so sprung for the X10.
The X10 offers a great browsing experience and although flash is not supported right now I think it will be in the end. If SE don't release 2.1 officially I'm sure the guys on here will cook something.
Basically the flash support that the Desire has to offer now is not what your looking for. Games do not flow to well and any site using the later versions will not be compatible.
When the Adobe releases flash 10.1 the Desire WILL get the update. I'm sure you've seen the Youtube videos of Flash 10 on the desire/N1, It looks fantastic!!
I think the X10 will eventually get it too but it may be much later.

I have a question about Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta for Mobile.

Hi everyone. I'm an HTC HD2 user. And I noticed that ; Flash 10.1 support to the Android OS had come to HTC Google Nexus One , with "Froyo" update. I watched some videos at Youtube , about "Open Screen Project" (that Adobe leads) . And Adrian Ludwig(at Flash team) was using HTC HD2 and showing the Flash 10.1 at phone. I'm thinking that , if he used Flash at HTC HD2 , then there must be a release for phone too. I'm not sure , it's very important for me. Thank you , for your answers. Have a nice day.
Flash
As far to my knowledge Adobe dropped Flash 10.1 for WM 6.5
Do You have a link for this said video please?
That was a motorola droid...unless you're talking about a different video.
The video was showing an HD2 running 10.1 beta, but a few weeks later Adobe binned the development so it will never be released on WM6.5 - unless you can convince someone at Adobe to release it as is (which is very unlikely)
Here's the video (been on here a few times i think)

anyone noticed that he pinchzooms in IE? Oo
and goddamn, i want flash xD
Not Fair
Kinda sucks our IE6 is crap. Flash 10.1 and Pinch to Zoom would be awesome.

Dear HTC, now is your chance again

I remember 2009, there was a phone called HTC Hero. It had 288MB of RAM, but it had basic flash support. Four years ahead, we have 20x more CPU power and 10x RAM, and we are losing flash. I believe you can return at least a single customer if you bring the flash back to 4.4+.
Flash works now even better than on desktop PCs, so really there is no excuses performance and battery wise not to have it on board anymore.
And to everyone that are already preparing to reply how flash support is Adobe's fault, please don't. This thread is a prayer, not a whine and not a trouble ticket.
Thank you HTC and I hope we see you again on HTC One 2nd Edition running flash.
If you want Flash, grab it from Adobe's archive and install AOSP Browser from the Play Store... Its called Android Browser and it supports plugins.
I'm pretty certain that the Sense version will have Flash still.
