Crap, that's the only office suite I have on my laptop. Is there likely to be a fix soon, or will it not be until 2010 is officially launched.
I'm sure while looking through videos of the HD2 on youtube I saw that someone had 2010 Office mobile beta on their HD2, would this not sync with the 2010 beta on my laptop?
My microsoft office is version 2003 ^ ^
I had some problems with syncing as well. The solution for me was to restart both the HD2 and my computer. This might be a strait forward thing, but hey, maybe you forgot about it.
I also run on Windows 7 but my Outlook version is 2007 and that works fine.
Reinstalling Windows Mobile Device Manager is always an option or try using the Windows Updates and Office Updates.
I've the same problem of McCloy only on Desktop... if I use the sync with laptop (with windows 7) I haven't any kind of problem.
Also not synchronizing...
My Windows 7 with Outlook 2007 shows similar problems:
I can´t synchronize it, but I have access to the phone´s store via Windows Explorer. Weird...

I have had same problem with Office 2010 CTP and also Beta x64, x86 is working fine. Also not sure why, I need to turn off my firewall (eset smart security). Windows firewall is not a problem ...
WMDC does not work with Outlook beta 2010 64bit
As my subject says... WMDC will not work with the 64bit beta version of Outlook 2010. Its the 64bit that is the issue.
This is an OLD issue and its been around since the first 64bit Outlook 2010 was 'released'.
Office 2010 is slated for release in June 2010... so Microsoft has plenty of time to either fix the issue with WMDC and 64bit Outlook OR release an entirely new sync'ing product (at MIX10 which is being held in March 2010 and thats where Windows Mobile 7 will be debuted)
[EDIT] Just to make it totally clear...
WMDC *will* sync with Outlook 2010 32bit running on Windows 7 32bit
WMDC will *not* sync with Outlook 2010 64bit running on Windows 7 64bit
FYI, no problems syncing with Outlook 2007 on Windows 7 Professional x64
This is a well known problem with multiple so-called "fixes" none of which work for me. I've tried all of these fixes and WMDC can't sync with any of my HTC phones - including the TYTN, Polaris or HD2.
I'm using Windows 7 x64 with Outlook 2007. I don't think it's an outlook problem, its a Windows 7 driver problem as I can't seem to get the drivers to install properly.
It syncs perfectly well for me on Windows 7 with MS Office 2003 ( never use MSO 2007 and above as I find is too "detailed and greatly inflated software _" ; the old and trusted old version is good enough for me

Yes - but the problem is with Office 2010 64 bit and WMDC. Office 2010 (32 bit) works just fine with Windows 7 32 or 64 bit. It is WMDC that is the issue - it has not been updated to communicate with Outlook 64 bit. It still works fine with 32 bit Outlook - any flavor.
Hi, i am not a technical but i searched the net and i found the following solution :
WMDC wouldnt even run or Install, i should say, even though there was a setting portion in Control panel for it.
I found a article about how It wont run without running windows media player first. ( fresh Install and never ran it yet) So I went to run it only to find out It didnt exist.
I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate N which didnt have any Media Software included. ( Didnt know that) So, I downloaded the whole media pack and installed. then I ran media player once and Voila! All the phone drivers installed properly, WMDC Installed properly, Phone connected and sync'd.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/download/AllDownloads.aspx?displang=en&qstechnology
Please check that and me us to do it properly. My Regards,,,
Well, I'm also having trouble syncing my HTC HD2. And now I tried it using different computers, one with Win 7, Office 2007 and WDMC 6.1 and other with Win XP, again Office 2007 and ActiveSync 4.5. And niether works. With Win 7, It kind of starts syncing, but nothing happens. With XP, again, starts syncing and then after cheking changes it just says contacts 0/188 and nothing happens.
Can anyone suggest anything?

Any of you guys been able to sync your TyTN with Windows Vista.
I'm running Vista Beta 2 v5536 - and syncing is a nightmare.....
ptm
When you say syncing is a nightmare, do you get the setup option for windows mobile center. The similar problem I have is that I only get the connection settings thats it.
In Vista, ActiveSync is replaced by a new app called Windows Mobile Device Centre. By default in Beta 2, this isn't installed, so all you can do is copy file on and off the TyTn.
To install WMDC, you need to plug the device in and let it install the default driver etc. Then, run Windows Update, and you'll have a new Optional Update to install WMDC. Then, let this update run, reboot the machine and plug in the device again. It'll install new drivers again - I think you then need to unplug and replug the device again and you should be sorted.
Thanks Ptm, this used to be the case in the old build. But ever since build 5536 which was released few days ago, it stopped downloading the files automatically. I have run windows updates repeatedly without luck.
I am having the same problem, it syncs my storage card with the media player, and I can browse the device.
But I cannot get it to sync anything else.
I am running Vista 5536.
ah - you're running pre-RC1 builds rather than post beta 2 builds. The WMDC app has changed for RC1 and the registry key required to get the new app downloaded from WU has also changed. You'll have to wait until RC1 comes out - won't be long now
Windows Vista and HTC Prophet Upgrade
I have been living with Windows Vista Beta 2 Build 5384 since June. This is an "evoluting version" that is upgraded/improved/corrected from time to time. All in all I should not have done that and stay with XP Pro but I was not sure how to unistall it. However, the Windows Mobile Sync function works well with my HTC prophet (Qtek S200) which is equipped with ROM 2.15.23.27 WME, 3/9/06, Radio version 02.19.21, Protocol version 4.1.13.09, ExtROM version 2.15.13.121. Last week, after a little research, I decide to upgrade with RUU_Prophet_2151327_22113102_022021_Dopod_PDAMobizEdition_v101 though I was not that sure that it was really an upgrade (I was looking for the Push-Email feature). In any event, the upgrade program did not work. I am stuck. It stopped regularly with a code error [202]: Th update utility (V2.5.2) could not connect to the PDA Phone. All comments are welcome
I think the sync of media player works much better with Vista Pre RC1 than active sync, I have a dual boot, so the other functions I can still use XP.
I hope this is better in RC1 out on Tuesday?
I am using RC1 (build 5600) and still cannot get the Mobile Center up.
I've connected my WM5 BA and although I can browse it - it's as though Mobile Center doesn't recognise it's a WM5 device so doesn't start up. And Activesync, like before, still cannot be installed on 55XX and 56XX builds. Looks like its just a broken feature.

No, it's not broken in RC1 - it's just different to the WMDC for beta 2 and I don't think the enabler has been posted publicly yet. The enabler allows you to download the download WMDC from Windows Update by adding a registry key. The new version of WMDC works fine in RC1 (I work for Microsoft btw, so I've got access to the internal versions, but I'm using RC1 - 5600 - and WMDC is fine)
It is difficult for me to argue with a genuine specialist of Microsoft but with respect to the Sync function, I recall that the "Windows Mobile Device Center" that has replaced in Windows Vista the ActiveSync 4.1 of the past did not work until I triggered the firewall options. After it worked well though the Notes included in the Contacts (MC Outlook) are not synchronised correctly. Hence, my surprise for the impossibility to upgrade as explained above.
Ok, I will have to wait until next week to test your views on RC1, as that when its comes on MSDN, subscription which I have.
I'm on 5600 to - any help with WMDC? *cough*
Hey petes. How is RC1, is it stable enough to use as an everyday OS. Does office 2007 work ok on it? Does it work with windows server 2003 r2?

RC1 - 5600 - seems very solid. I don't know what the plans are for a later public build of Office 2007, but the build I'm running (which is quite a bit later than beta 2) seems really happy on RC1 - I haven't had any crashes at all - but then 5600 was only cut on 30th os it's pretty new. However, the interim CTP builds have really been making strides each month. I no longer have an XP SP2 partition on my machine - I, and I think many others, will see RC1 as the time to switch.

hi,
i'm using 5536 and when i click sync in wmedia player the program crashes. it says a problem caused the program to stop working. any ideas?
thanks.
I have got RC1.5600 now, but the sync still does not work, may I need a fix to enable this, or have to do a hard reset of my tytn.
I don't have any luck with connecting my X1 to my computer running Windows 7 beta 32-bit.
Windows mobile device center just stops working.
Anyone tried this and got it to work?
It works for me on Windows 7 Beta 32-bit.
I let Windows Update install any software it could find, got the sync centre and devices program up and running.
yep works fine here i just installed the wmdc 6.1 for vista and it works, do you have av or firewall interfering?
Nope crashes Activesync here as well. The phone still connects tho, and can be browsed via explorer
use windows mobile device manager, download that and it will sync fine...i already use Windows 7 to flash, so everything works fine. if you install that
if there is no other way for you labaan, try to use vm-ware and install xp32
into vmware. i`ve flashed one of my phones with vm-ware under server 2003 (32bit).
for example, the nokia software is not installable under 2003. (wrong os error)
vm-ware works (under 2003) fine.

Windows 7 is definitely a step in the right direction. An OS that actually will not only be powerful, stable, and fast! but will go head-on with MAC OSX and others in terms of interface!

Wow. Even more of an early adopter than I am. I have been running Win7 for a while, but I always dual boot. I used to dual boot Vista and XP but never used XP. Now I dual boot Vista and 7, but I like to stay in 7. I was using the PDC build with the goodies unlocked. Just installed the official beta today and will try to sync soon.

For a start, I agree with others in this thread - w7 is definitely a nice xperiance!
But unfortunately I have still not been able to get my mobile device center to like me. Tried installing wmdc 6.1 for vista 32, but got some error message during installation process stating that 'device not connected'. I'm getting this no matter if my device is connected or not.
On the other hand, when I see in the program list it seems like it was 6.1 that was installed from the beginning?
Even though wmdc crashes when attempt to connect, I get the double arrow on device and I can browse it with explorer on w7. Should be nice to have the sync part work though ...

Thats odd, there was no wmdc installed on mine, just a pointless "sync" control panel.
..Sorry to interrupt your talks.
Are you synchronizing your Device with only 1 PC or 2 PCs?
I refering to another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3161672#post3161672) - with less responses..
while wondering, because for me it seems that no one is really using the synch features.
Maybe somebody will have more news on that strange behaviour.
By the way MS, SE and HTC know the problem.
Cheers
..
I had to disable advanced network mode (aka disable faster data sync) in USB to PC to get it to work. Syncs fine now. I am set up to sync with my exchange server, vista partition of my laptop, and 7 partition of my laptop. (I dont actually sync with my laptop; just set it up to sync so that I dont get the WMDC popup everytime I plug in; I mainly plug in to use for debugging and internet access through PC).
Hello. I've searched for my problem, but could not find anything.
I recieved my HD2 today, and when I connected to my PC (USB), Windows installed its Mobile Device Center.
But then nothing. WMDC says Not Connected when I plug the phone in and select ActiveSync.
Using Win7 32bit 7100.
What did you select on your device to connect as? ActiveSync, USB Drive?
ActiveSync. When I select the USB Drive option, the mediacard shows up on the computer as it should.
I'm having the same problem. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit, and it seems my HD2 is not a recogizable device. Thus it never gets connected in Windows Mobile Device Center. In Control Panel->Devices it is shown as "Generic RNDIS".
I'm guessing I need to find the correct drivers, but have been unsuccessful so far :-(
I also use Windows 7 x64 on a few machines and it works OK for me (even in Linux too). You might have a firewall or Anti-virus that is blocking the virtual port used in the connection. The usual culprits are Symantec/Norton and someone mentioned AVG recently.
Temporary disable your firewall/Anti-virus and plug in your phone see if it works then. If it does then you know what was causing the problem
I don't run any firewall or antivirus.
I also checked around, and it seems that it installs itself as Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter.
I also noticed that WinMo6.5 isnt listed on the supported OS list for WMDC.
Go to the USB to PC tab in the connections page, off the all settings options,
then disable ebnable faster data synchronisation,
that normally works.

For me helped to install mobile device center again. I had same problem at first.
I've done that.
Here's what Event Viewer is telling me:
Windows Mobile-based USB device is plugged in but is unable to make a network connection to the desktop.
Also, when i check the new Network connection when using the Microsoft Windows Mobile Remote Adapter, I see "no network/internet access".
I had the same issue after a few weeks of using the phone... There were a couple of devices in device managed under network adapters I believe which I deleted. I then plugged the phone in again and selected active sync and all was fine again once the devices had re installed. Sorry Im not with my pc at the moment so not sure what they were called.. Think it was to do with the phone passing an internet connection to the phone etc etc...

Thx! It worked for me!
i was having the same problem (though with vista) until i went to the activesync app on the phone (start menu -> extra) then it started working as expected (showing hd2 in 'my computer' & giving acces to both sd and phone mem)
I can now happily report that a format of the PC fixed the problem.
This is a really annoying problem - it's hit me on 2 separate machines (laptop and desktop) - running Windows 7 64bit and 32 bit. Both machines worked fine on Vista before they were upgraded to Windows 7.
For some more information on possible "fixes" - see http://www.windowsphoneexpert.com/Connection/forums/t/3643.aspx and http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en/windowsmobileactivesync/thread/3139b9ba-1038-4fce-858b-0f305df68a5a plus a whole lot of other posts on the microsoft forums.
Looks like a frequent problem which can be either dead easy or impossible to fix. In my case, it was impossible as the drivers failed to load, irrespective of the USB-to-PC status, whether WMDC was re-installed, and even which HTC device I used - TYTN (WM5), Polaris(WM6.1) and now Leo(WM6.5). Tried the hard reset (while doing Leo Rom upgrades ) and manual update of drivers. All for nada...
I don't know if I can face formatting my PCs - that seems excessive and is not guaranteed to solve the problem anyway judging from the 2 machines I've got here.

HTC sync on win7 64
Works with mine, Win7 64 on a laptop. You need to turn on sync on your phone. I originally had the same issue but upon investigating the contents of some of the settings I found the switch.
Win 7 64-bit
I'm using HTC Sync on Win7 Ultimate and Win7 Home, both 64 bit and no problem syncing.
I have it on 32 and 64 windows 7...Did you set it up from the phone? I did and it worked well.
Can some one post the HTC Sync for down load? I have looked in my phone and found the drivers you guys were talking about and they installed on my home computer. At worrk I try the same thing and the drivers are gone from the phone.

hi there. i was wondering if someone had any experience, connecting his Win Mo 6.5 on a Windows 2008 Server PC/Laptop and had a successful sync.
I recently changed on my laptop from windows 7 64-bit to windows server 2008 R2 64-bit (the reasons actually simple, server OS runs way smoother that Windows 7, and manages RAM much better on a laptop), but im no more able to sync all my stuff i used to sync with WMDC.
downloaded from MS site the Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Driver (vista, 64-bit), installed fine, but when i did connect my HTC HD Mini, it couldnt find any drivers.
It starts to try to locate the drives, but then, error finding'em.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance
win 7 and server 2008 r2 have same core.. there is no different memory management, it comes with less hardware-consuming userstuff like aero-desktop, thats the reason why it feels "smoother". using server without intention to use all that serverspecific stuff is stupid, because it has less compatibility to lots of programms and tools, you will also need special server editions of software that will cost a lot more money. and dont let us talk about the different prices of win7 and server 2008..
you can slim down win7 to a naked win server 2008 (there should be many articles in the web)
but if you have problems on windows server, take use of microsoft support service..

using server without intention to use all that serverspecific stuff is stupid, because it has less compatibility to lots of programms and tools, you will also need special server editions of software that will cost a lot more money.

please dude, read the question ...
finally, i figured out, how to make it work
go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?familyid=6eb8d0aa-bc6b-4864-8ffe-dc26e1d9f843&displaylang=en and download Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center Driver for Windows Vista (64-bit). Go to http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=4F68EB56-7825-43B2-AC89-2030ED98ED95 and download Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Driver for Windows Vista (64-bit) (you have to have a valid copy of MS OS - because Validation is Required).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Install the downloaded files with the order you downloaded them (1. Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center Driver for Windows Vista (64-bit) and 2. Microsoft Windows Mobile Device Center 6.1 Driver for Windows Vista (64-bit))
Plugin your WM device, and voila, everything works fine.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My problem was, i downloaded only the first file from the Microsoft site, since i thought the second file was the same (names are almost identical, if you are in a hurry)
P.S. if you have Microsoft Outlook 2010 64-bit (im not sure if this the case with the 2007 version as well), active sync will not work.
