i see theres the new rom 1.12. can i use the WWE rom with my 850Mhz jam???
also...what is the Original ROM on the Jam 850Mhz as in US version. 850 as the BAND/FREQUENCY....not speed!!
850 MHz Jam? wtf?!?!?!?!??!
wouldn't that give you like 3 minutes of battery life and then just melt? WTF is right
nah its easy upgrade....
just solder a P4 3ghz in and under clock it !
battery life is a bit short but its great for keeping your hands warm on a cold day
May be mack ment GSM-850, not 850MHz CPU...
IMHO - In that case difference can be only in radio ROM.
you guys miss understood my question....obviously theres no such thing as jam running at speeds 850Mhz.....i was asking about the band....they also use "Mhz" to denote the band. IE my jam has 850 Mhz/1800 Mhz/1900 Mhz.
to make it easier i'll just say Jam PM10C or USA version if you guys dont understand 850Mhz.
everyone has gotten caught up in a misquote and has complete circumvented the original question. What ROM is the most stable for US networks....
I am using ROM 1.11 with a .cab file fix that I got from the following location:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=25790
But as you can see from my posts there, my MMS still is not working. GRRR. I'm getting closer though. Any input would be helpful.

Hello,
I'm really close to buying the New I-Mate Jam (128 Mb Version). I need some help in deciding what to do. I'll be solving the no wi-fi problem by putting a Spectec or Pretec Wi-fi card. I don't mind that as long as it works properly. I live in Mississaua but will be going to university in Toronto, Canada and currently i'm with Rogers.
These are my following issues which are bothering me.
1) As of now, I'm in Saudi Arabia - They have the latest Jam but not the 850 Mhz Version but the 900 Mhz Version. People who have the 900 Mhz Jam - Can you please tell me how your reception is with Rogers ? If not Rogers, Fido. - This is one huge factor as i need to know how the reception is on the 900 MHz Jam. This is really bothering me as apart from this, everything else is perfect for me.
2) I know i could go for the PDa2k which has Wifi built in and is Quad Band and has a larger display than the Jam but i like the Jam for it's size - as it's really comfortable and not huge - i don't want something huge....please give me ur opinions on this - i fear the sliding mechanism might loosen up and like the vibrant color display on the Jam whereas the PDA2k's color isn't that great.
3) I'm really confused on which Bluetooth headset to buy -
Motorola HS850 or Sony Ericsson HBH-662..
I like the Hs850 for it's style and the black color which matches the New Jam's color and looks really sleek but i heard there have been echo problems. Please Confirm this and the compatibility with the Imate Jam.
Sony Ericsson HBH-662- looks nice but don't like the style compared to the HS850 but i might go for it - i've read good things about both the headsets except that in the 662 - there's no problems and in the hs850 - there's the echo problem. - finally, is the 662 compatible with the Imate jam - does it display the caller's name?
I guess that'll be all. I'd really reallyyyyyyy appreciate it if someone could help me on this. I'm going to get some sleep. I'm going to buy it tonight. I was confused between the PDA2k and the Jam but i like the Jam for it's size and weight plus don't like the PDA2k's keyboard. If the 900 Mhz reception's really good with rogers, id go for tht otherwise i'll buy this and get fido. Please tell me what to do as im really really confused.
Thanks a lot once again.
Don't by a Qteks110, wait for 9100.

That's only if he'd like to wait for 4 months ...
If you'll be doing a bit of traveling outside of N America, I strongly recommend getting the 900 MHz model. i am with T-Mobile, and I have very few problems with reception in the US, Europe and Asia. I had trouble overseas with my old 850 MHz triband phone.
lukybandit,
I am in Victoria, B.C. but am with Rogers and my 900 Mhz model works absolutely great, very few reception problems. I have owned many pda's and phones and this little unit rocks on all of the others. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!!! Hope this helps

Seems there has been a lot of people still speculating despite the fact that confirmed info has been available on the phone for some time. Revision 3 of the white paper details quite a lot of stuff about it and is available here on SE's developer website. You just need to enter the 4 letters to confirm you're a real person and not a robot. Interesting points (either from the white paper or an interview I saw with the phone's dev team and marketing guy:
The phone definitely HAS got proper 3D drivers. I have also seen this confirmed in an interview with the development team.
While built by HTC, the phone is engineered by Sony Ericsson; they designed it themselves apparently, HTC is just the ODM.
No Opera...ships with IE only. BOOOOOOO!
There will be a US and European version of the phone. The US version has 850MHz UMTS while the Euro has the 900MHz band instead. The US version is also crippled in some features (mainly relating to video recording/playback - only records QVGA video at 24fps when Euro does it VGA at 30fps. Also doesn't decode H264) due to some issues with patents in the US.
Comes in 2 colours: black and silver
Has a touch mouse as well as a 4 direction button controller (though sadly there are no arrow keys on the keyboard. If you look at the photos you CAN see a CTRL key though, which is great...finally keyboard shortcuts work!).
Should hit the market end of August or in September, so a bit earlier than was previously thought.
Oh and one more thing. People are commenting from pre-production phones that the panels are slow (sometimes using this to justify that it doesn't have working 3D drivers). This is due to the fact that the panel app is still being worked on and has been in debug mode on the pre-production models, or so I read...when it's compiled properly for the production model it should be much faster.
it's not really new and there have been circulating info about changes since then
Yeah I'm aware of that, just noticed that there were still some people commenting on 3d/lack of 3d drivers in here as late as yesterday so thought I'd better post it...
why i had an impression that the version sold in europe would work fully all around the world and have multiple bands to be able to use umts and everything in europe and US.. i must me mistaken then huh?
Should still work pretty much everywhere, is quad band gsm...it is just not on every band for UMTS...850 is only common in America and Australia (only on Telstra's network) as far as I'm aware...900 is more common elsewhere and will even be coming to Australia eventually I think when they stop using it for GSM...
Xperia X1a, X1c and X1i
Does anyone even knows the difference between Xperia X1a, X1c and X1i?
And if so, does anyone know which of them will be released?
There will be a US and European version of the phone. The US version has 850MHz UMTS while the Euro has the 900MHz band instead. First i guessed that the x1a was the prototype but they write about stuff like it is better on the x1c then the x1a?
In the white papers they talk about x1a and x1c what they say about x1a sounds like the US version you are talking about and the x1c sounds like the euro version u are talking about.
BTW i havent seen that the phone even has quad-band? Where did u find this info?
Which ones will be available?
And does anyone even knows a release date?
MDA Vario IV (HTC Touch Pro/Raphael) is delayed instead of mid june to 4-8 august since htc did something for this phone i guess the release of this phone is delayed to?
ThnX
nobody got anything but guesses
only official word is q4
some say september some say november
X1c is the chinese model.

Are there reliable specs on the amount of Ram - both included and available? I could see a pre-release device on a road show in june, and it showed only 80 MB Ram installed of which only 19 MB were free. So I guess that the device had really 128 MB on-board. However, 19 MB available Ram is not enough for applications like navigation which require lots of ram for routing purposes.
The Sony guys I talked to could not comment on this - in fact, they were somewhat surprised that anyone would inquire on the Ram on a mobile phone. Obviously they were not yet used to the world of WM6, where the customer is interested in more than just Rom for MP3-storage.

I was looking into buying a new HD. Obviously I like the idea of 3G but it's simply not going to happen.
When I was reading, apparently the Austrailian version has the necc. frequencies.
So, I started looking at the Aussie version and found out that not only does it have 192 of ram compared to 512 of the Euro version, it also has only 4'ish hours of talktime compared to 6 hours of the Euro.
Guess I'm going to deal with having Edge.
Mark
Go to pdadb.net for hd spec http://www.pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=1469
192mb -- user accessible ram
288mb-- total ram
512-- rom (storage memory 2xx avaiable to user)
talktime-- depends on what network you use gsm(standart) or 3g (hispeed)

There is no "Australian version". As far as HTC is concerned, they did not even have any intention to sell it in Australia, according to someone I contacted. Later, for some reason, Telstra is selling it although Telstra is the only guy in town having 850 3G network which HD does not even support. How strange is that? May be Telstra has signed an exclusive deal to prevent the other carrier from selling it???
All the so-called Australian sellers are brining in stock from Hong Kong and China.
I just did a speedtest at

Bahahaha! You better tell that to my blackstone here infront of me running on Telstras 850Mhz NextG network.
It must be a bad blackstone supporting frequencies it's not meant to! Bad Blackstone!
Although...it does say on the box 850/2100HSDPA with 512MB Rom and 288MB Ram. It's also the T8285 unlike the original Blackstone the T8282.
Maybe I just picked up a freak of the litter? Or maybe they do have an Australian version

Well, if what you say is true, then it means that our friends in US would have 3G since many of them are on 850 HSDPA. It would be one of the best kept secrets on Blackstone.

Whoever put the info for the radio has stuffed up. They've put the Rom version info in as the Radio version.
I can assure you that the Telstra Touch HD comes with radio 1. 10. 25. 25 / 52. 57. 25. 30U exactly the same as the latest one in the Euro versions of the Touch HD.
Okay. That was odd.
I just reinstalled the Telstra Rom Upgrade, and after rebooting the red numbers said the radio was 1.10.25.25/52.57.25.30H (H instead of a U). Now after the customisations installed and the phone rebooted it's showing the normal 1.10.25.25/52.57.25.30U (U instead of a H).
Ok. Im a little new for all the different terms with a cell phone radio and all that. But theres something that i just cant seem to get a grip on. The US HD2 supports only the 1700/2100mhz for UMTS. Which means all of us ATT users cant have the use of 3g and i believe it hinders the use of the HD2 here on ATT. Theres a few things I cant seem to understand and some things I need technical expertise on:
Ive been reading about the hd2 and i found that the cellular modem is built inside the snapdragon processor. (found that from qualcomm and on pdadb.net)
If the processor is the same for both models why cant it accept the umts850 and 1900 mhz bands?
Answer to that: Im told its hard-coded on the 3g chips and cant be changed.
Question to that answer: Why is there a ROM update for the Dopod HD2 that in fact ADDS support for the UMTS900 MHZ band? If its hard-coded on the chip then why is there a software update for it? Can that update be somehow modified to add umts 850/1900/etc band support. its just some of the specs and things ive found online (mostly here at XDA) just dont seem to add up.
My overall summary:
Processors are both the QSD8250 which supports ALL GSM types (by that i dont mean all freq. bands.) So the cellular modem inside the phones are the same.
Different basebands on the different models when its "hard-coded" on the phones themselves.
Why a software update adding support for another baseband freq?
Someone please elighten me. I just think that theres more to this whole baseband thing than we know since we seem to believe one thing, but theres other official work that disproves those claims.
I use:
TMO HD2 (HardSPL'd and unlocked to AT&T)
WM ROM: Omega XT V14
Android ROM: Mdeejay's Froyo Sense 3.1
Radio: 50.4 version.
The reason the Dopod HD2 got that software update is because that band was always there, but WinMo couldn't utilize it. What you have read about the processor being locked to band X/X is completely correct. The T-Mobile US HD2 will only ever support 1700/2100 because thats what revision of Snapdragon it's using. The Dopod model is using a different revision and always had support for the 900 band. The only way the US HD2 will ever get 3G on ATT is if ATT switches to the 1700 band, or if the processor is upgraded. If you really wan't 3G that bad, I would look into getting an international HD2 as some of them do indeed support ATT 3G.
Ok but if all 3 (us,Telstra, and dopod) use the qsd8250b then wouldnt they all be able to add support for other frequencies that the 3g chip can use or is it that there's different antenna types for different regions or somethin?
Sent from my HTC HD2
What I mean is that, when they are makeing the processors for each board revision, IE the US and EU boards, they enable or disable the frequencies at a hardware level. You can't just flip a switch and have that feature turned on, its not that simple. The processor type is the QSD8205B, but there are many different internal revisions. The antenna's for GSM networks are more or less the same, no matter what the frequency.
ahh see thats what i was thinking... (darn it got my hopes up for nothin) I do wanna get the international but i dont have 500+ to spend and i doubt i can trade in this hd2 for the telstra one, but boy would it be nice (we have a 3g microcell and id like to be inside my house to be able to make a call, even though inside i have 2 bars sometimes and it wont call at all)
Dang it ATT. You and your messed up networks.....

Do you know how much this slows down the speed / performance of the T-Mo HD2?
I got an HD2 specifically to move away from the lag so many winmo devices have and never looked back since. I'm on ATT and it would definately be nice to have 3G.
okay so i reacently read on engadget that att bought qualcomms 700mhz band or soemthign like that. would that mean we get 3g or soemthing liek that?
Most likely 4g. (Why would they want a second 3g network) And if thats the case, there is NO hd2 anywhere which can handle 700mhz,

I would love to get my hands on a T8585, however don't have the $500+ extra available funds for one. Sometime this year I will track one down. It's a great backup phone to my Dell Streak, especially since now we can boot to Android directly.

No it is not, the T8585 is the Euro version of the HD2 (512 LEO)
From SamSamuel on XDA
T9193 is the telstra and uses
GSM 850/900/1800/1900, WCDMA 850/2100MHz
T8585 is the regular HD2 and uses
GSM 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS 900/2100MHz
Not sure what the model number of the tmous is (PB81120 is the model ID) and it works on
