Tried plugging in USB cable and selecting 'Internet sharing' 'Use phone as USB modem' then apparently Windows Mobile Device Centre should pop up with the internet sharing application and connect to the internet, but nothing happens and I cannot connect to the internet via my phone.
Also the HD2 does not show up as a generic modem and so I cannot create a dial up connection manually
Any help appreciated!
Even I'm facing the same scenario!
Been a year since the opening of this post, but no replies/help!!
Can somebody guide me to resolve this situation?
Thanks a lot in advance.

Mayur Dave.

Hi
I have been trying to connect my laptop via bluetooth to the device to obtain internet access via GPRS.
I had this working (just once), but now it keeps giving me stupid errors. Basically, it connects, then instantly disconnects without leaving any error messages. I then try reconnecting (fails) again, with the same message. On the 3rd try, it tells me that the line is engaged (it aint). Once you get to the 3rd try, soft reset of XDA IIs is required in order to try again, in which case, we go back around in a circle!!!
Really anoying thing is that it successfully connected *once* (browing working fine etc) and that the settings are identical to what they were when it connected successfully.
Bloody thing. Any idea's?

Hi
Please try to follow this steps!
1st Make sure you donĀ“t have any ActiveSync connection in your Bluetooth settings in your PDA.
2nd Create in connection wizard in your PDA a ActiveSync via Bluetooth connection.
3rd Goto to your ActiveSync in your PC and goto to FILE>Obtain Connection
If you have the connection made via bluetooth and your active sync start connecting, you already have Internet in your PDA. If not open your PDA ActiveSync and try there to make synchronization.
I hope i was usefull.

Maybe you missed the point. I think the original post was on how to connect a laptop to the internet wirelessly though a Bluetooth connection to the XDA then with the GPRS internet data connection on the XDA. Your post sounds like how to get internet access on the XDA through the laptop connection. I also have the latter working but not the former. I need some detailed instructions on how to accomplish the former through BOTH GPRS and dial up. I need the steps to take on the PC as well as the mobile device.
internet access through gprs
It's something due to xp protection rules.I hope you'll find solution looking at advanced section in modem property (in windows home page start>setting>modem>modem properties);there's a string shorter than the original one you've typed, lacking of ",0,0" at its end.
Try to add it manually.
Hope this help.

The answers should be here...
Hi Mr. Serj. I seemed to have a lot of problems and after "messing" around enough I found the solution. In the end it was pretty easy. My description is for WinXP but it should be pretty close in Win2000. See the fourth post from me here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18404&highlight=
swamp2 - that was really useful, thanks.
Hi,
My house is Wi-fi enabled (i.e. we have a wifi-router connected to our broadband) and I can surf the internet from my M3100. I do not have a wifi-card for my PC, and was wondering if there is a way to use my phone as a bridge? E.g. I'd like to connect my phone to my PC via the USB cable, and connect my phone to the internet via wi-fi with the net result of being able to access the internet from my PC.
Firstly, is this possible? Secondly if it is possible with wmodem then I appear to have a problem, for when I run wmodem (with active sync closed/disabled), then connect the USB cable to my PC, I do not get the 'found new hardware' box, and I can't get the USB modem driver to install (trying to manually add new hardware and browse to the .inf file does not work - it doesn't seem to see any driver in the inf). I'm using windows XP.
Any help you can offer will be appreciated,
Steve

Hi,
Did you get anywhere trying to bridge modem and wi-fi?
I've also had a problem with the PC not recognising the modem... did u get a resolution?
Jamie
I updated to the new HTC Cinuglar ROM. Before I updated I used the Wireless Model application with no issues.
Now, I followed the directions on AT&T's website.
Installed ActiveSync (disabled USB connections for Active Sync).
Went to Internet Sharing and selected USB and My ISP.
Connected the USB cable to the Laptop
Then clicked connect. It started to connect to the GPRS system and then after a few seconds returns the message "Remote Party Ended Connection".
I have found no information on any other settings to make Anyone have any idea what is wrong?
Also, it seems weird that in the Programs application "Internet Sharing" is not there, but it is in the Start Menu.
Thanks for your ideas and help.
easy fix for me
I have found that on my laptop, if wifi is turned on, Internet sharing is sporadic in performance. It seems as if ie wants to go to the wifi connection first before it will go to the internet sharing connection. I'm sure someone with networking expertise could tell me why and how to fix, but i just turn off my wifi adaptor.
I upgraded my rom with shaps's 3.54b. I can connect to internet with phone, but it is impossible with usb cable to use it as modem.
When I try to use internet sharing it disconnect active sync and try to connect to 3g network. Sometime it can connect, but the pc cannot recognized the connection working. Any other times it cannot connect at all.
Looking for in system option on my pc i saw my phone as network device (windows mobile based device) and not like usb modem. Is it normal? Reading in other forum someone suggest me to install usb modem driver... where can i download the right driver?
Thanks
try resetting your phone before you connect it. Sometimes like you it'll connect but sometimes for me my phone says check usb connection. But i reset the phone and it works fine.
Hi,
I'm having some troubles to share my internet 3G connection with my PC over USB.
When I check the "share internet connection" on my Wildfire, nothing happens on the PC and when a go under "Wireless and network / Internet connection sharing" on the phone, it's written "activation...".
I heard about some drivers "HTCDriver.exe" which are located on the SDCard but I can't find them and even if I had some drivers, my PC doesn't recognize any USB equipment when I switch to "Internet connection sharing" on the phone.
My ROM version is 1.25.405.1, in french and now unbranded.
Is there any trick to share the internet connection ? has someone already encontered this kind of issue ?
Is there any solution ?
Thanks in advance,
Same problem here, I have unbranded my phone (was in SFR -wich is Vodafone in France-, now in 1.25.405.1), and USB tethering is behaving the same way as before, ie it doesn't work with 3G connection, but works when Wi-Fi is the active connection. Also looking for a solution. Thanks.
Did you find a solution since yesterday ?
Or anybody else ?
