I have been watching things here start to get a little crazy (atleast in the Hermes thread). I don't have a magic answer, I wish i did. I have been thinking about his for the last three days. Then with JJ, the developer of black for the Hermes, deciding to take his rom to another site, yet to be determined. I started to think about how the ROMs are being supported.
I seems that we need to look support these roms like any software application I've been part of developing in the past. I think we need to look at adding a bug track system. Rather than use the forum for bugs and new releases what do you guys think about using a bug track system for this. This could be used for all kinds of applications.
Lets talk about this and see if the Admins and Mod think that this cold be something that is possible to get integrated into the xda site.

already tried... tried to implement a bug-zilla like site... noobs couldnt figure out and didnt bother using...
So we just give up. Sorry I just not ready to give up like that. We have to learn to educate these users. I agree with a thread I saw under the hermes about making a rule about posts like "DLing now".
never said anything about giving up... y dont you have a chat to the Administrator Peter Poleman...
Hey guys I saw this post strolling around on the internet. Maybe one of our fine devs could help this ambitious guy out..
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-x-hacks/93955-getting-custom-kernels-running-droid-x.html
freaking sweet ! spread this !
Very interesting! Might want to move this thread (or a copy of?) into the Droid X development section.
For a minute there it looked hopeless..but it seems like this guy is really working hard on this. He has found the problem.. apparently the issue is not kenex but drivers. He needs help from someone that has experience with coding drivers...COME ON guys WE CAN DO IT! Lets get all the milestone and droid x devs on this!
This thread was mentioned in one of the threads on development. I hope he's successful, but I'd be surprised if he succeeded.
This guy needs DZO! DZO is a genius with a PhD in computer science. He's the one that pioneered Android on the HTC Vogue (a WinMo phone) and made it possible for all the other winmo htc's to get android. he rewrote all the drivers and such to work with those phones and I'm sure he is smart enough to do this. However, he lives in new zealand i believe and therefore cannot really get an X. Hopefully something can work out.
I think if he said that he said that he would work on the dx then we could get enough donations together to get him a dx. I don't think he would have to have access to the Verizon network to test wether or not the radio is working.

Hi there, it seems that Trip could manage the issue with the camera and video recorder on 2.3.4, you can check on Modaco.
Just an information, no offense or so because it s related to Trip, etc,,,,
Cheers
Dude every body knew that a long time ago
Even the time when he was at xda
His tripnmiui 2.3.3 had it working

But he just never implemented it
Because he had a working camcorder it caused many disputes

waiting....
fail. And we were waiting official rom to steal the libs and the files.
once again trip showed his capabilities
I have a few suggestions to spare, if I may, so that such threads won't be turned into flame-wars:
FACTS:
1. Trip is no longer a part of XDA community and he has moved on to a totally different community, Modaco, which is in no way affiliated with XDA.
2. Trip continues to develop his ROM and distribute them on Modaco, which is in no way affiliated with XDA.
3. The reasons behind Trip's ban from XDA are pretty much well-known by now, as are his new whereabouts (in case anyone missed it, it's Modaco, which is in no way affiliated with XDA.)
What I want to suggest is that when Trip reaches a major breakthrough in development and only after he releases a ROM including the said breakthrough in public, then and only then, whoever is interested in the general well-being and progress of the X10 community, should contact the developers that are currently a part of XDA and let them know about it.
Because that way, there will be no public arguments, no lovers, no haters, no trolls parading in front of our innocent eyes.
All in all, I am fairly certain that most people interested in custom ROMs, know where Trip is releasing his work now. Heck, even a simple Google search will do the trick for those not yet informed.
Let's try to keep each to his own and avoid unecessary conflicts.
That being said, I am following the ongoing development over at Modaco and appreciate everything that's being achieved there. I just don't feel the need to open up a new thread, stepping on a minefield, every time I see something interesting there. And rest assured, I would feel and post the exact same thing on Modaco, if it was the either way around.
And in case anyone missed my point, don't forget: Modaco is in no way affiliated with XDA.
Cheers!

I'll be the devil's advocate her and disagree with you. This is the Xperia X10 General forum, meaning that anything closely related to the X10 is allowed here. This has something to do with the x10, and hell, it's a huge thing. I never knew about this until this thread, so I thank this thread.
Yes, it will probably turn into a flame war, but technically there is nothing wrong with posting this news here because someone, regardless of forums, has made a major breakthrough for our phone, which, Modaco or XDA, we all (hopefully) love.

sure the XDA Developers can read, and if they require such information can contact him direct, don't need people running of reporting to them, like school. As you say it's nothing to do with XDA what is happening at modaco.

Yes, maybe you are right and maybe I was too fast to judge this particular thread.
I apologise, I seem to be carried-away by the many threads that turn into flame wars and end up locked every day, which is frustrating, imho.
Only one point I maintain: the ROM is not released yet, so one thing to consider is the well-known over-hype and the bitter disappointment afterwards (a.k.a unlocked bootloader, GB new features, etc...)
So, all I am saying is to be a little more conservative.
Maybe there should be a sticky thread in Development with progress made for X10, location-independent.
Again, sorry if I ignored the informative character of the OP, but it seems that such threads rarely stay limited to information.

I am sure they can, I didn't mean it this way. It was a suggestion to channel the enthusiasm in a safer way.

This has nothing to do with what's happening with XDA or Modaco. This is what's happening with the X10. I agree that posts here about the the release of a new Trip thread on Modaco is wrong, but Imo there's nothing wrong giving info about a huge breakthrough that's happened, regardless of forums. There's a difference between that and advertising someone else's ROM.
@My_Immortal.
Yeah, I agree with you, I'm not going to fall into all that hype just yet. I remember when he said 1080P breakthrough was coming and nothing came, so I'm cautiously hopeful, but Trip is a very good dev so I think it might be true, let's wait and see
im closing this thread
cause they always turn out the same way
Sorry if this is completely irrelevant in every way shape and form, but I'm from a community of people who own Samsung Wave smart phones who would really like to own an Android port due to the horrendous support for Bada by Samsung and complete and total lack of applications.
We have a working Froyo 2.2 port on the device which many have copied to their phones with success. A few developers have worked on it, Olek_k from XDA was working on it, passed it over to Rebellos. However, we currently have no working modem, camera or battery sensor and they are having trouble with Kernel development. Rebellos says that he thinks he's collected enough info to write a modem driver, but he is having problems with the kernel and the project has stalled. We've seen the amazing progress that has been made with this project, being passed down from person to person and there is a huge community of people who would like to experience android on their Bada handsets. I am no developer myself and a lot of us aren't, but the project has stalled and it'd be a real shame for so much progress to be lost. Do you know of anyone or are you yourself a developer of HD2 Android? All of us at badaforums.net and those in the Bada section at XDA are eager to see progress on the project. We do have developers, but they need aid in an area that they do not know well.
Please don't take this as a demanding request, I'm simply asking if you know of anyone who could help compile an android kernel (I'm not sure of the detail you'd have to ask the developers themselves) with the help of the current devs. We'd be hugely greatful if you could co-operate and help us out, because I know many who would absolutely adore android on their crippled Wave smartphones.
I sent a message similar to this to the admin of the Android ROMs site (http://android.hd2roms.com/) to see if they had any ideas about someone who could help. If you didn't know already, the wave is only available outside of the US, I don't know if anyone in the US can help with the development without the phone, you'd have to ask Rebellos or one of the other devs from the topic.
Below are some links where the discussions are;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118436&page=260
http://www.badaforums.net/forums/android-porting/porting-android-s8500-wave-t5464.html
I am a noob at XDA and I haven't tried the port myself as of yet, but I love my Wave and no one has made the jump to reach to the awesome HD2 porting community yet, so I thought I'd try.
Please contact me in this topic, via PM, or contact Rebellos or any of the other developers in the topic if you, or someone you know can help out.
Thanks very much, again, sorry if this is in the wrong place.

+1 as a HD2 and Wave user. Help us please!
Damn, no one else has noticed the post :/
Oh well, I'll be patient and just hope that people aren't ignoring the post lol.
Pins, do you know of someone who was at the head of the project? I'm pretty clueless, I'll do some digging.
They will, just give them time.
You might want to consider getting the XDA admin's incharge of the news, to publish this, since this is really going to go un-noticed by the majority of developers. Some good might come out of it. All the best. I remembered waiting (and I am sure many other HD2 users too) for the Android port and then WP7 port for HD2... it seemed like a long wait, but eventually it is done

Yeah man, thanks. I was just being impatient. Really don't want to come off as an arsehole because a lot of people in the bada-android forum got pissed due to trolls, when there are, infact a lot of people who are nice and genuine who are eager to see the port.
And I will have a look to see if I can do that erlern, but do you think they will really listen to someone with like, under 10 posts? xD I mean, they might, but however funny that noob video was, they don't seem to be particularly keen on them. We'll see.
erlern is right maybe its better to write the admins at news
Hi rayze! Erlern is right come to think of it, the admins handling the news section can post about this on the front page.
Also on the title of the post amend it to this "Help needed to build drivers into kernel" then maybe the developers of this thread may pay more attention too.
Also post this on the android development thread of HD2 since this is the Q&A section which has more to do with everyday use of the hd2.

Well someone needed to try to get people's attention
No one else seemed to bother doing it, so I thought, why not. Don't think I've posted in HD2 main yet, but might have. Struggling to remember really.
Oh yeah, no I didn't because I need more posts xD I only have 7 lol.
Unfortunately us Wave modders are probably one of the smallest communities in this entire forum, we might get noticed, but it's getting people to help that will be the highest hurdle. It's a shame really, you'd expect many more people to buy this phone when you can pick it up now at cpw for £99.
I really respect how those developers devote so much time on making better software for our phones, and in most cases they just want a thank you at the end.
I am so happy to see this at the front page of XDA!

Really hope to see Android on Waves! Glad to have contributed in a small way Keep the faith guys!

Thanks for telling me man!
Spreading the news at Badaforums!
I will also now make a post in the main HD2 development section.
There are so many choices and I am a bit overwhelmed on what I should use. I have the Note 3 SM-N900W8 version, this phone is for my dad. I just want a simple android environment that would be Google certified(if that's a thing) so he can use apps that do not like root like Netflix. I was hoping something that is similar to base android 6 or later, I have no idea which roms would work that would be simple to use. I was hoping something like what I would use on my Nexus 6p called Pure Nexus, but obviously, it's for that phone only but would have been perfect. The current one he uses is always giving him trouble when updating apps with security options that he never has any idea what to do, so I get stuck having to do it for him. Sorry that I am all over the place with this post, but hopefully someone understands and knows what would be good. Thanks
See multiple identical what rom best rom posts .
ROM descriptions are posted .
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/development
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-3/orig-development
I would suggest if its for somebody else and you don't know what you are doing/ cannot read rom descriptions then stick with stock rom .
Yes I am very aware of those pages, I was just hoping from someones experience, if anyone has come across something similar to Pure Nexus. I know how to install and all that stuff. Starting to feel it was a mistake to post this thread...

It is hard to say what your need for a rom are. Every one uses there devices diffrently. What works great for me might not be good for you. And viseversa. There are never stupid or dumb questions. Even though it has been asked many times over. Best advice is to search and read and try each of them to see what fits your needs.
Btw i have at&t so I am limited on what roms I can use as I have a locked bootloader.
