Hi XDA people,
This is my first post here, I have a HTC Touch HD standard rom and I love it! Has a bit of customising (thank you to the creative people here!).
My problem is the movies I have on my HD as of yesterday have lost their sound. I use the standard player through albums/video folder and it has always been fine. DIVX player has sound, system sounds and MP3's are fine. Volume controls work ok. All the video were converted using Video Converter v1.20 and has done a good job.
I have soft reset, taken out the mini SD card and replaced it, been through win 6.1 settings/systems and personal looking for anomaly's but cant see anything out of order.
Anyone with any advice as to what could be the problem would be greatly appreciated.. Thanking you in advance..

Any update on this? My HD just started having this problem. Its weird.
Core Player and WMP play the audio, but not the default "Album" player.

Hi,
I am using both the HTC audio player an CorePlayer on my HD.
Recently I used more often CorePlayer to listen my audio files.
What is happening now is that when I go to the Music tab of the TF3D, there is a black screen saying "Press here to stat the Touch FLO". Actually it became impossible to use any longer the HTC audio player. It automatical try to restart the touch flo.
Apparently HTC audio Player and CorePlayer are not totally compatible on the HD.
Does anybody have the same issue, or any solution. Thank you very much.
Hello,
I'm having a problem with HTC Album. Whatever mp4 movies I'm trying to play with Album - they play video, but absolutely no audio
When I play EXACTLY same movie with CorePlayer - it playes audio fine. Video is choppy though.
I tried different mp4. Coverted, downloaded from intet. They all play fine on my PC, they all play fine with CorePlayer. No audio with HTC Album
Does anyone have this problem ? Is there a fix ?
Can somebody upload short mp4 video, that plays fine with audio in HTC Album, so that I can download it and try ?

Hello Bogdatov, did you find a way to get audio on HTC album? I have the same issue but didn't find any useful hint in the forum...
try to convert the mp4 with the encoder tool and play again in htc album.
some mp4 are corrupted or have a corrupted header
The Opposite
I have the opposite of your Problem. When I play a MP4 the screen turns black and there's only audio!
Can't one just download a codec or something like that for the HTC HD?

Thanks MaierHermi, I will try again but... the files were converted using HTC Touch HD Video Converter 1.21; they play the audio using Coreplayer but they are "muted" when playing with HTC Album... I don't think its a codec problem.
Same problem here :/
Have you done any tweak?
I've been using AdvancedConfig 3.3 and have installed flashlite3.1.
I've been tweaking the AudioBooster with AC 3.3, while enabling 3D Sound and Bass. I've activated Prim_EQ_On on the registry to see what it does (nothing obviously...).
I have them all uninstalled (and 've restored default parameters in Advanced Config Before and in the registry) and the problem is still there. No audio on any mp4 which I can read with sound few days ago.
'Cannot say exactly which modification did affect the sound codec in the album.
Also I've been looking in the registry and found that key :
HKLM\Software\HTC\StreamingDShow\DisableVolume (1)
Fixing it to 0 did not resolve anything.
I'm in the dark right now and think to hard reset
Did you do any tweak like I just quote? We could maybe find an explanation that way
Solution - check vol in wm player
I found that if vol is set to 0 in WM Player - HTC Album will be mute. Just set higher volume in WMP.
Thanks for that, I've already hard-reset, but I'd know why it happen if it does reproduce!

Solution
I had this same problem and I found a solution.
Find and change key in Registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Microsoft/MediaPlayer/Preferences
find key "Mute" and set to "0".
Really works... sound in HTC album mp4 videos is back

I have exactly the same issue. Some mp4s work fine in HTC Album and some dont.
The thing is.. every mp4 used to work in HTC album. I use Energy ROMs and this issue started a few ROMs back, cant remember exactly when.
Tried the various registry mod solutions in previous replies however the issue remains.
Hi all.
I have a hTC Elfin. I use the Onyx 4.2 rom. The video playback in the windows media player was very laggy. So I switched over to Core player 1.3.something. I was very happy when it could play the videos at the highest bit rate without any lag. But recently I got my headset(the original hTC one). I had lost it somewhere around . So I connected it to the phone and tried playing some videos. And there was a hell of a lag!! But as soon as I removed my headset everything was back to normal. Also I have noted one thing that if I disable Manila 2D, the video runs normal!! So, please suggest what to do to be able to play the videos normal!! Also if there is a better player for WM 6.1 then please suggest!!
Reply soon.
Thanks.
I have tried several trials on video converters and no matter what I do I get great picture but the voice is way behind.
How do I get the voice to catch up with the film. ( sorry I know it is not techy language)
I use MediaCoder to transcode video. It's free.
http://mediacoder.sourceforge.net/
The even got the iPod Edition which u can use for simplicity reason.
Thank you, can you tell me what settings you have used on that programme.
Core player, THE best media player you can get imo.
Will even play .mkv!!!

He is talking about encoding the movie.
You can try Windows Media Encoder (from Microsoft).
It's also free, and does a good job on encoding movies.
hi guys,
i seem to be having the same problem with the whole audio and video out of sync. i have tried a range of format eg. wmv, mp4, 3gp etc but all are about half a second out of sync. i have even tried core player and tmpcp but with no luck. did anybody else have this problem and manage to fix it? any help will be much appreciated
Hello,
I use the HTC Touch HD Video Converter which is very good. He is especially for WVGA 800 x 480 screens, and the quality of the movie is very good.
HTC Touch HD Video Converter v1.21
DVDFab6
I have not (yet) seen the problem with the sound you describe here.
I use DVDFab6 since a while, originally to convert videos to my iPod, but now also to my HD2.
I have a Touch Diamond too, but the screen is a bit too small to watch for longer time and it drains the batteries also very fast. I haven't tried yet fully, but my first tests show me I can do 3-4 hrs of video on one battery and still have enough power left to use it as a phone. Which is very useful if you have to do a lot of short flights.
I use the PS3 settings in DVDFab6 and adjust the display to 800x444 size, depending on the original size. I found that I can not play them directly from Mediaplayer, but if I click on them in the FileExplorer they start playing without any problem.
BTW, also the iPod m4v files play nicely without delays on the HD2
Yeah i have the same problem, the video/audio file is perfect on my pc but about half a second out of each other on my HD2. You can adjust the audio/video sync in core player but it shouldn't be happening in the first place.
hi guys, thanks for your help. i called htc tech support but all they were able to say was perform a hard reset, which sadly didnt fix the problem! even mp4 videos downloaded straight from the net have the same problem. such a shame because apart from that its an amazing phone. will keep trying and post up if i have any luck
I just tried the one that Braakie suggested and although it converted my 700Mb AVI film to a 500Mb MPEG 4 film, when i tried to copy it to my SD card on my HD2 it said the MPEG 4 format wasn't supported. Can someone enlighten me as to what formats are supported and/or what movie player they use.
I'm having the same audio sync issues as others here. I'm encoding using handbrake and when I play it back on the PC it is perfectly in sync. However when I play it back on the HD2 using the HTC video player the audio lags slightly but noticeably behind the video. When I copy it to my wife's Touch HD it plays fine, so it seems to be a problem with the HD2 software.
I'm running the stock Vodafone 1.43 ROM with all hotfixes applied. Will a ROM update fix this? Anyone else with this ROM having/not having this problem?
I'd be very grateful for any input.
Chaps,
Somewhere on XDA is Chainfire's video driver update (or a reference to it) which you should find and install to help overcome the lip synch issue.
If you can't find it using Search...http://www.google.com/advanced_search?q=+site:http://forum.xda-developers.com&hl=en&lr=&as_qdr=all then go onto the Modaco site and its there somewhere under the Toshiba TG01 device.
Good hunting.
WB
Thanks for your help - I've found the driver here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=592663
However, as far as I can see that's a 3D OpenGL driver and not something that I would expect to affect video/audio synchronisation. Unless, of course, you had the same problem and this fixed it for you? I don't really want to mess about with video drivers unless I'm sure it will fix it.
I was a little dubious and cautious myself but installing the driver did seem to make a difference, sufficient for me not to notice it as much.
Installation is a personal choice. You might want to make a full backup of your device using, say, SPB Backup, before you install. That way you can do hard reset and restore if you don't like the driver.
All the best,
WB
I have the same problem with youtube vids too, just had a replacement hd2, but it's just the same, skyfire, coreplayer, youtube you name it, audio lags the video...
Real pain in the butt for a device who's main feature is a huge screen...!!!

Well I installed the 3D driver, which was easy enough, but unfortunately it made no difference at all to the video/audio sync in either of the two driver modes so I uninstalled it again. (No need for a hard reset, thankfully). I'm using the video in this thread to test since you can easily tell whether it's properly in sync or not.

Oh well, it was worth a try - thanks for the suggestion.
It seems that Rockplayer is now out of beta and is in the market.
It's free with adverts and $9.99 without.
There's a webpage here too:

Sicknesssssssssssssss

Any major change from the last beta?
I'm aware the UI and options have been improved drastically.
EDIT: Many changes: http://www.diffthink.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=42&sid=f9cc2d545484da204e54b2b144d12627

Sucks that the red "R" is back unless you buy it.
GUI looks really nice, but I just tryed playing one of the movies recorded with my Desire and sound is all messed up like a really high squeeky sound all the time. Anyone else experience that?

Yep, sound is just a high squeeky noise on anything recorded using Desire camera on mine as well.
Xvids are fine.
Playing issues
I am impressed how well this player can play DIVX or Avi movies smoothly, but I think this player has problem playing MP4 or MPEG files that are recorded from other phones. For example I have some collection of MP4 files that I have recorded from my previous windows mobile phone, but when I tried to play them with rockplayer, the sound are so horrible. High pitch and full of noise, very distorted. I thought maybe the files are corrupted, but when I tried to transfer them to my blackberry phone...they just work perfect! SO pretty sure this is the rockplayer issues. I guess this player is NOT yet perfect after all.
The player does not play well mp4 and mkv files with multiple audio tracks in container.
What a f... SRT support?
Amazing!
Yes, but it doesn't support special characters.
(Nema šumnika. )
THE PLAYER IS REALLY NICE but i too get some audio problems once in a while

It does, subtitles just need to be UTF-8 encoded (File -> Save as -> Coding:UTF in Notepad is enough)
Change to "System Mode" in the settings and then try the 3GP and MP4 vids. Should work far better... works for me

WOW you are right....that fix the sound problem I have in playing those clips I have recorded with my other phones Awesome...In all honesty I really think HTC should release this type of application FOR FREE too! Come on even Samsung has this capability...most other phone even blackberry can play without converting. Anyway good job to the Rockplayer...=)
