Hi all,
I've got my HD 2 for a week now and everything seems to be working fine, except for a very important bit: the phone.
When I'm connected to the network with a data connection, incoming calls are not possible after some time. The caller just gets a busy signal or my voicemail. This also happens when I haven't been actively using the connection for some time. Calling is also impossible most of the times this occurs, very annoying! Anyone else got this problem? It only happens when a data connection is present, under phone only use there is no issue.
When you say "data connection" do you mean Bluetooth, USB, or HSDPA/3G etc?
I haven't noticed this myself while connected to HSDPA...must check it out.
It only happens when I'm using 3G/HSDPA.
True
I have same problem.
Sometimes the call completely lost and sometimes the message "cannot dial for ...." pops up.
I think it could be connected to network itself ...

One confusing problem that i want to solve: When i am connected to the Internet via the "Wireless Modem" application, then i can't receive any incoming call even it is no data transfer over the air(GPRS). Every phone is available for receiving this calls when it is no data transfer active. But my Himalaya not. The other side is ringing to me but i can't see anything. No missed call no incall..nothing. I can lose lot of important calls when i use Internet(WModem) at same time. The problem is the same also for SMS's. Is it some solution of this problem? Or is it somewhere over the net any application that can toggle the call forward to any other phone? I will be greatful for any suggestion. Thanx.
ok, this is a strange issue and i am not too sure about it, so correct me if i am wrong.
When i use my Universal, i use the Hack which enable my GPRS/3G always on, it works great and when phone call comes in, the dis-connect the connection and re-connect it once you finish phone call.
But with Athena, after i apply the same Hack, although the connection is always on, but you CAN'T received any phone call ! So i turn the Hack off and do some more testing. I found out when i use Opera and connect to internet (3.5 G), i can't receive phone call, but when i close the program, the connection change to 3G (instead of 3.5), then i can receive phone call again.
But notice here, the 3G is still on when i receive phone call, so it doesn't disconnect any more.
So important to remember don't use the Hack on Athena, otherwise you can't receive phone call.
Anyone can explain this?
Hi folks,
I have noticed an irritating, intermittent connection problem with a couple of XDA phones I've had. Specifically, I now have an HTC Touch Pro, and most of the time the internet works fine. Sometimes though, when I try to connect, nothing happens for a very long time, and eventually an 'unable to connect' message is displayed. Usually, I use Opera 9.5, which was pre-installed. But the problem also exists if I use the standard IE and also with Skyfire too. The message is different depending on which browser I'm using of course. But if one won't connect, none of them will, so I don't think it's a problem with one of those browsers. I should point out that when the browsers do connect, they stay connected. this problem only occurs when I open the browser and it tries to connect. I did have the same problem on my previous XDA device - O2 XDA Trion. I have found that if I perform a soft-reset, the internet will then start up nice and quickly on the first attempt, which I'm guessing suggests it isn't a network problem. Does anyone else have this experience? Does anyone know what might be causing it? Of all the pieces of software I've installed, there are few, if any, that I've had installed on both devices, other than the programs which are preinstalled. The only commonality between my previous device and my current one is the OS and the SIM card.
Are you speaking about your HTC PRO Wifi connnection or the EDGE/GPRS/HSDPA connection?
I also have issues with the data line not being connected or running the way you would think. I then pop over to wifi and all is good. I normally just turn off the data connection and reconnect.
Also, do you keep the connection permanently on data mode or do you let the phone log on for you?
My theory (this happens to me sometimes too) is that my phone connects to the tower and then gets timed out because of no data activity. The phone doesn't figure it out and simply shows a connection still. Then when you try to get data the phone is confused as to why the digital connection it thought it had was no longer active.
Props to me for making up **** and having it sound 2Legit2Quit.
I am talking about my EDGE/GPRS/HSDPA connection, and, now you mention it, yes, I think wi-fi works when EDGE/GPRS/HSDPA is not working. I'm not sure about that though. I'll have a go when it happens again. Which it will, very soon, because it happens all the time. It's annoying.
Thanks for your ideas!
PS: I didn't respond to your question about data mode. I'm not really too sure what you mean by that. I didn't know there was a data mode! In the Touchflo3D settings, under communication, there is a switch labelled 'Data connection. Turn off data connection.' But if I do turn that off, it just turns it straight back on again. I'm not sure that's what you meant though.
I'm on T mobile with a dhd and my phone keeps losing the data connection.
I have to reboot to initialise it again. If I switch to wifi thats fine, but 3G data keeps dropping out. It can't be the network as the reboot seems to sort it. Sim works fine in other phones. Have you got this problem too?
I'm also getting the reboot problem and the dialer crashes too everyday preventing me from making a call. Otherwise a really good phone!
yep, I am having the same problem on my sim, wierd, I had never had this problem. It started today when i turned my data connection (mobile internet connection) on and did not turn it off, usually I turn mobile network (for internet ) on and then off after some use.
I will try to do same for 2-3 days, lets see what happens. Anybody else having same problem. any solutions ?
Several times a day, my phone goes into "silently lost connection" state. When it's in this state, the WiFi internet works fine, mobile internet works, phone still shows good signal bar. Basically, you have no way of knowing something is wrong with your phone, everything is as it should be.
However, in this state, I don't receive any TEXTS or CALLS. If someone calls, it goes straight to my voicemail. If someone sends a text, it goes on my "texts to receive" backlog or something.
The only fix is, go on airplane mode on/off. Then I get the connection back, texts in the backlog starts coming in, calls are received, etc.
My phone is SM-G935F (Android: 7.0, Baseband: G935FXXU2DRB6). I'm on T-Mobile network. I've tried a connection booster app that re-connects to mobile internet network or something, but that's not the problem because I can access the internet at all times, so that didn't work.
Does any know what's going on? Any idea for a solution? Maybe an app that turns airplane mode off and on every 10 minutes or something?
