I'm on T mobile with a dhd and my phone keeps losing the data connection.
I have to reboot to initialise it again. If I switch to wifi thats fine, but 3G data keeps dropping out. It can't be the network as the reboot seems to sort it. Sim works fine in other phones. Have you got this problem too?
I'm also getting the reboot problem and the dialer crashes too everyday preventing me from making a call. Otherwise a really good phone!
yep, I am having the same problem on my sim, wierd, I had never had this problem. It started today when i turned my data connection (mobile internet connection) on and did not turn it off, usually I turn mobile network (for internet ) on and then off after some use.
I will try to do same for 2-3 days, lets see what happens. Anybody else having same problem. any solutions ?

I am consistently having one problem with my 8525. Whenever I try to connect to the wifi at my university, the phone freezes. I have to remove the battery and reboot it to fix it. I don't have problems with any other wireless networks. I am confused and I have no idea how to fix the problem. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
The phone is probably waiting for some packet of data from the university that either isn't arriving or is very slow to arrive.
After a minute or two it should time out and the phone should work again.
Hi,
Not sure if anyone else has experienced this issue so here goes.
I regularly connect my Desire Z to my PC in Internet Pass-through to get data for updating apps and Navdroid map updates.
No problem connecting and the data throughput is great.
However, once I have disconnected the phone from the PC I have lost 3G/HSPD connectivity. The only way to get these back is to restart the phone.
I have tried turning on Airplane mode, and then turning it off - no success.
I also tried turning off data and then turning it back on - no success there either.
Is this a known issue or has anyone else come across it. Anyone found a solution if they have, bar restarting the phone that is.. ?
Thanks,
Des. . . ; )
Yeh this also happens to me, though only sometimes. Unfortunately, all I've been able to figure out in terms of fixing it is just restarting.
Data connection is not the only thing that glitches for me with internet pass through, sometimes the other types of USB connection stop working as well (e.g. the phone will not be seen by my windows machine when put into removable drive mode after being in internet pass through) until I restart. Essentially, even though internet pass through does not always cause problems I always restart after using it since it seems to be good at glitching other things out and probably messes up things I don't even notice at first.
This has happened to me several times...
What I noticed is that whenever I disconnect the phone while it is in Internet Pass-Through mode, I couldn't get my mobile data connection to work afterwards..
So before disconnecting, maybe you can try changing your USB connection mode, say, to Charge Only. When disconnecting from that mode, mobile data works.. at least in my experience..
Hi,
Might be worth a try, that. Czechton can you try and see what sort of results you get?
Thanks,
Des. . .
I will second that - this problem occured for me everytime I connected the phone in the "internet pass through mode" - I also noticed (although I did not keep track to check if this solves the problem EVERY time) that if I change to the "charge only"
mode and then disconnect - I get back my mobile data connectivity back

Hey guys,
Ive been having some issues with my wifi calling app. At first I was thinking that its my router, so I got a brand new one today, and I still keep getting the same error over and over again. It would be nice if anyone knows how to fix this.
So here is my problem - I turn on my wifi calling /I have it set to Wi-Fi Preferred. Also, I have set the wifi to never go to sleep. And it all works great, until the screen turns off. So the screen turns off, and wifi calling is still working fine for the first 3-4 mins, but right after that - it disconnects. I looked around in the error log, I keep getting 3 different errors all the time :
W005.1 ISP Error Retry
W005.2 ISP Error Retry
W006.25 ISP or T-Mobile Network Error
I believe that it has something to do with the screen going off. This keeps happening on CM7 RC1, CM7 nightlies, Stock Rom... Just all over the place. And having wifi calling is the main reason I got this phone, as it is very very important for me, because I have little-to-none signal at my home office, and I keep missing important customer calls.
Please, someone help me out.
Thank you.
Just a shot in the dark here I had something kinda the same. But have your tried clearing the data for wifi calling in the Settings> Applications>Manage Applications? also try clearing your cache and dalvik cache.
I had a issue where wifi became the only signal i had and a app wipe fixed it.
If none of that works go to a t-mo store and tell em you broke your simcard and need a new one. May be an issue with the t-mo network not fully recognizing your sim for the voip.

Yeah I just did all that, I will update if it works.
It might of been my router tho, because I just got a wireless repeater today (as my signal from the router is not very strong), so that kept happening only with the wireless repeater. I moved back to the router only - problem is somewhat solved. It just randomly disconnected my while talking a few minutes ago.
Quite possible it is your router i remember the router i had, had a problem like that where every dhcp refresh it would disconnect all clients. May want to try and see if you particular router has any firmware updates.
UPDATE: When comparing to my coworker's phone (who doesn't have this problem), we went through all settings/etc and matched them up exactly. The only major difference between our two phones was that I was running Launcher Pro. When I uninstalled it, this problem went away completely. HSPA+ did get activated in the Google Market, but it didn't hinder my browsing experience. Anyone else having this issue, are you running Launcher Pro? And if so, if you uninstall it, does it fix the problem?
I know that there is an ongoing issue that Motorola is looking into concerning HSPA+ data connectivity dropping out. This is not that issue.
Here's the scenario:
- Atrix 4G purchased on release date
- Using 4G SIM card
- No SIM unlocks
- Have 4Gig Tethering plan
- Set to AT&T US HSDPA APN (have tried AT&T US Tether and AT&T US wap.cingular)
- Connected to Wifi
- Issue occurred prior to rooting and after rooting.
- Issue has occurred since day 1 of using device.
Issue: Launching Google Market and browsing around will eventually start showing connection timeouts, typically after looking in a few app descriptions.
What I notice:
- When connected to wifi, the cell data connection gets turned off (i.e. the grey up/down arrows are no longer showing). I assume this is how it is supposed to work (since if on wifi, no need for cell data connection).
- When launching the Google Market application, and after browsing for a few seconds, I notice the cell data connection doing something (grey arrows come back, and then will briefly show black arrows, then back to grey).
- Once the issue occurs, I attempt to browse in Dolphin or even the XDA application, and it doesn't connect.
- Turning wifi off then back on fixes wifi until I try Google Market again.
- Turning cell data off allows Google Market to work fine with no issue.
Thoughts:
- It seems that when connected to wifi, the cell data connection should be getting overridden regardless.
- Somehow Google Market is causing the cell data connection to activate and messing up wifi
- This happened on a 3G SIM and a 4G SIM (so it doesn't seem like a connection problem, simply a software issue)
- I have a coworker who has an Atrix as well and does not have this problem when connected to wifi
- I have other devices connected to the same wifi without issue (thus not a wifi router issue)
Any and all help is truly appreciated and thank you in advance!
Nice first post and seems pretty accurate. I switched on airplane mode and then just enabled wifi to test this out and had a zen-like market experience. Not a single hang up. Hopefully this will help lead to a fix. Thanks.
Have you tried switching off your data connection before connecting to wifi?
I had a similar issue where my wifi would be on simultaneously with my data connection so I just hit airplane mode whil wifi was on that turned off both wifi and data then I re-enabled wifi (airplane mode still on) waited for it to connect then I turned airplane mode off. Never had the issue again

Hopefully motorola looks into this as this is my only true gripe at the moment. I go to dl an app and it stops at a random percentage, I go back into market and see the app is paused. I cancel and Redownload and usually works. I also get a timeout error almost every time I go into market and have to choose retry or close.

Turning off data connection does solve the problem, however that is only a stop-gap and I have to leave the data connection off (then remember to turn it back on when I leave my wifi area). No other application I use has this issue, so I would expect it's a software problem, but it doesn't seem to affect every Atrix owner.

Yeah I've done that too, sadly it still crops up for me.

Exactly, those are my experiences as well when on wifi with cell data not explicitly turned off.
UPDATE: Turns out that when factory resetting, the market app when first run works perfectly (doesn't try to activate cell data when on wifi). The problem is that the market app auto-updates to a version that has this problem.
Here's hoping for a fix soon. Thankfully Juice Defender gives me an automatic way to handle the cell data issue since when it detects it's on wifi, it turns off cell data so I don't have to.
Update
I posted an update in the original post. It seems Launcher Pro was the culprit.
Hi all.
I have a problem with my nexus 4 that the cellphone has no connection to the internet. It returns to normal and can get to the internet after reboot, but after a few minutes it has no internet connection again.
I have tried flash the 4.2.2 & 4.2.1 factory images again but it does not work.
I have checked the APN setting and i'm sure all setting are correct. btw, it has internet connection after reboot but only a few minutes.
The SIM works well on other cellphones, but all SIMs i borrowed have the same issue on my nexus 4, so not about the SIM.
In the phone status, i see Mobile network type: HSPA:10, and Mobile Network state connecting
if you have any ideas how to fix this, appreciate all your helps.
Same problem with you. Sometimes it keeps using 2G network sometimes or even no internet connection sometimes after turns off the wifi unless I reboot the phone.

You can turn the airplane mode off and then turn it on instead of reboot, but this doesn't work for me. My cellphone will soon lost the internet connection untill reboot.
