hi all, i bought a tytn at ebay, but
the after a short time of using the bottom buttons, they stop working.
touch screen and buttons on the side are stÃll working, but the bottom buttons are dead.
sometimes after turning off amd turning on they are working for a short time again. a restart also helps to make them work.
but its not funny to restart every 10 minutes.....
it is an e-plus tytn from germany with wm5.
do u guys think that it is a hardware or a software error?
I seem to have this problem on and off myself and think it's related to either the rom on the phone or the radio rom but am not sure which. It seems sometimes I have this problem and it seems to come and go depending on what combination of rom/radio rom I have installed. If I was smart I'd find a combination that works well for me and stick to it but I always like to play with things so typically every day or two I'm reseting
yeah, i have the same problem.... i hate to restart the phone every now and then, but I need to figure this out sometime soon, or I'm gonna upgrade to WM6 to see if that solves my problem. lol...
did anybody else have an idea to solve the problem?

I opened up my tytn, to find out the problem, and I found a small crack in the flexcable mentioned above.
Before it was never opened nor did anything strange happen with it, so this seems to be yet an other production problem/fault..
More and more people seem to have the same problem, time to presure htc for a repair....
Ok for me this is too late, but all for the good cause.. will just order myself a new cable and try to swap it..
Any ideas where to get the flex cable these days? Not finding it at the link above and internet searches aren't panning out either.
FYI:
Just got back my HTC TyTN from service under warranty, sent for exactly the same problem.
The technician I spoke to directly said that maybe about 90% of the lower keys malfunctions are caused by the lower keyboard board behaving erratically and it is a well-known hardware problem.
A board replacement solved it, my TyTN is working perfectly again, they also replaced the stylus holding rubber (which was broken already from the early days) and, surprise, they upgraded my WM5 device (I had to revert everything to the initial versions before handing it to them) to the latest official HTC WM6 Rom. Even bigger surprise, although what I gave them was a WWE device, when I got it back they had upgraded it to the localized (official Greek) version. Life is good.
Anyways, seems the only real solution to this is a visit to the repair store, hopefully under warranty and reverted back to the original settings...
Having strange problems with my Hermes. It has problems maintaining connection to the network, sometimes it will go for days without issue and then won't connect at all. It then takes multiple battery removal/reboots to get it to work again.
It is a Hermes 300, originally from T-Mobile, now unlocked using Vodafone. I am running Schaps_WM6Pro_Hermes_4.31_WWE_Full using radio 1.41
I do occasionally get the NO GSM message on startup but not always and sometimes it works, despite the NO GSM error. I think I solve the problem by trying a new radio rom, but the problem creeps back in after a few days.
Any ideas?
Same issue with mine - I think its hardware related not software. Tried disassembly, reassembly - sometimes works for a stretch then dies. Leave battery out sometimes brings it back for a short time. Question: does your front dPad work - the front directional keys - phone pickup/hangup? Tried reflashing a new ROM but this can get tricky because the rom update will hang if the NO GSM error is encountered upon bootup during the flash - as it can't flash a radio where it think it doesn't exist. This seems to be a bug in the update flash software - it should see if it can find a radio then flash - not try to continue to flash when it can't find one. This fix would probably prevent a bricked phone although if it can't find a GSM radio the phone is probably toast anyway.
Yeah, my dpad works just fine, only faults are with the radio. I have been trying different things that I think work for awhile but then see to not be the case like turning off 3G or HSDPA..... in the end the same fault returns.
Problem is, I don't know when it happens if it's in standby. Miss calls and get no SMS to tell me I have a message.
I started sensing problems when my bluetooth headset was on. While driving I would start hearing beeps indicating a loss of signal. Sure enough I looked on the screen and saw the ! with .... hunting for a signal. Turn the phone off and one and the NO GSM message popped up. Fortunately my housing and screen are in mint condition so I'll search out for a really beat up but working donor and swap the board. Unfortunately on eBay even the really destroyed HERMES are even pretty pricey. If it weren't for the driver problem on the Kaiser I'd spring for one of those being that the Hermes does seem to have its problems. Hate the Fuze as it looks and feels very cheap = not that durable.
Hi guys need some help.
I've posted before regarding my issue but got no reply so here's more symptoms I've noticed in the past few days.
Problem backlight turns off but under strong light you can still see that the screen is working and response to input.
1) Flashed from rom 1.66 to merlion custom rom but no use.
2) Starts to happen when battery hits 70% and happens very often at lower value of battery state.
3) No issues when connected to external power.
4) No issues when watching video
5) edited registry to disable sleep of backlight but no use. Installed lumos but no use.
Is this hardware or software issue? Any help, anybody?
I got this phone to replace my omnia but it's only 2 weeks old and i can barely use it...........
Most likely hardware, restore stock ROM and SPL and send it in for repair/exchange.
Hi Kilrah,
Thanks for the reply. It's back with stock 1.66 and spl. Guess it's back to the sevice center tomorrow. Just hope that my hd2 doesn't come back with new issues...
Just an update. Just sent back to hTC service center and the counter staff believes its hardware fault. 1wk without my hd2 dang.
I was having problems with the rear speaker of my HD2 because it suddenly was not working. I tried hard resets and re-flashing ROMs(all official) and nothing worked. Just now I did the Update for HTC HD2 System Stability and the rear speaker is working again. I think it updated my Radio to 2.10. I was about to send it for warranty but now I'm not sure if I should. My concern is that the issue might come up again then the warranty would have expired. But the other thing is, it might not have been a Hardware issue at all.
Hi,
I have a very big problem with my friend's HTC Iolite. The touchscreen suddenly stop working. When tapping in one place it sometimes send me to another.I tried installing new ROM but nothing.
It actually works for 10 minutes after installing new ROM but then dies.Tried all ROM updates but nothing.
Is there a solution for this or can I throw it away?
Is the problem hardware or software based?
Thanks!!!
sorry to hear that from you, it's a hardware problem. you have to replace your touchscreen. i had the same problem, but luckily i was still in the warranty period, so i had it fixed for free.
