Blackberry Services on HD2? - HD2 General

@work!
I bought my HD2 two weeks ago, and we're using a blackberry server @ work.
With the HD, Blackberry Connect never quite worked for me. But how about the HD2?
Does Blackberry Connect work in any version?
Does Blackberry Application Suite work with the BB server on a HD2?
Who has tried already?

dont think so. my father got a bb server @ work as well and it wasnt possible for him to access it. I think the encryption/safety-options of a bb-server a simply too strong to hack them in an easy way whereafter it should be quiet difficult to pretend to the server that you "are" a blackberry.

ok, but I think that BB Connect is provided by Blackberry themselves. So it should be possible to get a propper ID from the server. But I had problems with several versions of BB Connect, until my HD finally connected to the server. But didn't synchronize at the end...

I had used the BB Connect software for the "instant mails" facility of the Blackberry on my Touch HD, and it worked flawlessly!
the latest version is 4.06 or something like that.
for me, as it has worked perfectly on the touch HD, should work on HD2 as well.
Try it out.

Thanks mate, I'll try it out.
@ the moment I am using xtend connect pc to get lotus and winmo synchronised...

Mac OS X tethering post Cingular 8525 ROM update (ROM version 2.15.502.3)

I used to be able to tether using my old ROM as well as the "un-official" new ROM versions prior to the recently released ROM update dated 4/09/07.
I use Missing Sync (ver 3.0.2) on OS X, and it would allow me to tether the 8525 using internet sharing set to USB. Now the only way I am able to tether is via the Bluetooth PAN, and even then the connection is spotty at best.
Did the official ROM change the way Internet Sharing works? This is very annoying and any assistance or ideas would be welcome.
I downgraded from the CUSTEL 2.5 WM6 ROM due to Missing sync's inability to sync with it as well as an inability to tether my Mac. Vista using Bootcamp works but Vista isn't my cup of tea...
Soon...
In a couple of weeks time you will have a solution to your problems with Apple OS X and Microsoft Windows Mobile. (Hint: it's not free.)
I am assuming that this would the much anticipated Missing sync update. If only I could shorten the wait... oh well.
Thanks.
Not really. Trade your 8525 for the iPhone!
bluetooth pan
something must be wrong with your phone because I use Bluetooth pan with internet sharing at work, in my car, at home and it works just fine. I even thought about ditching the Internet at home

I do it too. All the time. Is AWESOME from the car, especially in a a 3G area. (Parked, not driving.)
i can't even connect my 8525 to my mac via bluetooth. it worked once and now the phone won't open up the passcode screen to connect.
edit: my rom is version 1.34.502.3. should i update to a newer one?
I think its the location that I am at that may be to blame. I have a really slow connection via Bluetooth PAN. The same isn't true when using Vista and Internet sharing via USB - that connection is much faster (though it too blanks out at times).
As for connecting to OS X: simply start the Bluetooth setup assistant on the mac and search for "any device". Then select the phone and pair the two. At the very end of the process the Mac will list the services that are available via the phone. One of them will be the shared network.

yeah, it stalls after i select it from the device list. the screen where it gives me the passcode to connect it, it seems like my phone doesn't receive it. not sure. but you think i should upgrade the rom? looks like mine is kinda old.
I'm posting with OSX using my phone right now
delete the bluetooth pairing on the osx machine and on the phone
from osx bluetooth assistant and select any device
if it asks about using the phone as a headset disselect that
if the phone once pairs asks about a serial device do not select that
verify if bluetooth still is on on the phone
goto internet sharing
bluetooth pan
connect
make sure its actually connected to the internet
on the osx machine click the bluetooth icon again and select "join network on ___your phones name____ "
thats it!
sometimes give it a second
if it still doesn't work make sure you don't have some kind of crazy firewall setup
using Custel's 2.5 rom (windows mobile6)

Hi,
Some weeks ago I tryed to use MissingSync for internet sharing with different WM6 versions without success. With official AKU3.3.1 version it works with the USB cable. But battery life is very short with this version.
Regards.
Yes, missing sync does not yet support WM6. Try the "normal" bluetooth pan method described above.
Anyone tried doing OS X tethering with newer versions of the WM6 roms?
I'm currently running vp3G 2.0 (WM6), rom date 5/15/07, radio 1.40.30.00, protocol ver. 32.73.7020.16H
Because I'm working offsite tomorrow, I was hoping to use my phone to tether my laptop to work with VPN on the laptop... and then I can login and out of the timeclock, etc. But trying it from work tonight before I leave, I can't get the bluetooth on my 8525 to connect to the PC.
Followed Neomuzic's instructions to the letter, but Safari isn't getting things working. Any assistance would be appreciated!!!
Nevermind... I'm a dork! Figured out where Internet Sharing was on the phone, and all is well. Having a little trouble connecting to my work proxy server... but messing with that now.

As of August2007, Missing Sync 4 supports WM6.
I'm also using bluetooth pan right now to post
Hello all,
I usually dont post much since i rarely have anything to contribute, but this time I do. I am running a macbook connected to my cingular 8525 thru the bluetooth pan and have zero problems. I upgraded my rom to the new vp one with all the latest settings and love it. No more looking for a hotspot for me. I dont use safari broswer on my mac, i use firefox. Thanks to everyone on this forum with the knowledge and time for helping the rest of us.
What i do is connect my JasJam to xp running through parallels, start internet sharing and it installs the drivers(first time of connecting it) and then it works perfectly everytime. Only in xp though.
I have installed the latest missing sync but havent tried internet sharing on mac osx but now that u guys say it works thats awesome! Will mess with it later (knowing me i won't attempt to get it to work until i'm off in some foriegn area with no internet connection and will need to download drivers that i'll struggle to get through pie/opera on my jasjam...) i fail to plan ahead with things like this! lol

Tethering 8525 to MACBOOK. HELP.
I tried several different approaches to tether my 8525 to my MACBOOK, with no success.
I have specific scripts from the web installed into the modem scripts folder. No luck with any of them. I believe the scripts aren't the problem but the COM ports are the culprit.
I recieve an error message that says," Failed to open RFCOMM serial channel. Check if authentication needs to be enabled in your device"
This is after pairing the 8525 to the MACBOOK and completing the blue tooth setting in the Network folder in the System Preference folder.
The pairing is successful because I can "send files" to the 8525 via blue tooth icon.
I read somewhere that the MACBOOK should allow me to set and choose COM ports but I haven't found the option.
My question is where do I find the COM port option in the MACBOOK because I believe that is where my problem is.
MACBOOK C2D, OS 10.4.10.

wifi router with vista won't work?

I have tried to use my tmobile touch pro 2 with wmwifirouter 1.25 and xda wifi router. It worked with my XP notebook and my old tmobile MDA but not vista notebook(home, x86).
Can anyone share me with his experiences?
Thanks,
Roger
I use version 1.50 with vista. It works (exclude bluetooth) fine. But this version is commercial. I think you can get a newer free version as 1.25 here.
Gerhard
I got an 1.52 (build 1050) and it won't work.
What is your setup?
Thanks,
Roger
Hm, there is nothing special in my setup. It is working via usb-cable and wifi. Perhaps the 1.52 free version is different from the commercial?

Is it really worth the $30 for this app?

I haven't installed it on my tp2, but i had it on my diamond and quite frankly i think it is worth the 30 dollars. I use it quite often because i travel and i know that no matter where i go as long as i have my phone(with signal) and my laptop i will have internet. I like the fact that with the wireless you can connect several computer to one internet source. I can't wait to install it on my tp2.
I'm using this one:

on my Vista PC. Three words: IN CRED IBLE

Blackberry Connect for P4350

Has anybody gotten this to work?
I've sent a request to RIM and have heard nothing back! The client installs perfectly fine but no PIN is given on the device, also tried with different OS's to no avail :s

[Q] Please help me to connect to the internet through USB cable.

Hi,
I want to connect to the internet through my laptop by using the USB data cable for the HTC legend .
How can I do it? Someone please help me.
you can't do it
Yes he can, just install HTC Sync and it's done. Used my phone like that all summer.

That's a hilarious assumption considering that as soon as you plug the phone in with a USB cable, the last option that pops on the screen is for tethering. At least for a Virgin Mobile HTC Legend.

But I wanted to do reverse tethering.
please star this issue to solve this problem in future version of android.
http://code.google.com/p/android/is...ng&colspec=ID Type Status Owner Summary Stars
I've found out the same thing today with my new Legend. My old HTC Diamond had this (an I presume all other WinMo devices), it's a pity newer devices like Legend don't.
I presume this is more a limitation of Android than a limitation of the device itself. If someone get a way of doing it, please share.
Another story is synchronizing e-mails with Outlook via USB cable. The setup of an Exchange ActiveSync account failed for various reasons (this is not the issue) and I would like to have the "old" USB sync back as it was on Diamond or other WinMo devices. It this also not possible?
the problem is not with Android itself, but with the Windows, which cannot route netwrok traffic into USB pport.
Linux on the other hand can and there is solution /showpost.php?p=5050462&postcount=5. So I guess Google has nothing to do with this
I was able to do it this summer using the program, Connectify.
From my laptop to my Legend. Hope that helps.
I was just going to say I'm sure it's possible since Windows Mobile does it by default through the device center.. but I would imagine you need different software for an Android phone.
I would look into Connectify as the person above mentioned. Also you could probably setup a computer to broadcast its connection through wifi to your phone (which is the impression I get from the google results for Connectify)
It looks like this was added in froyo or htc sense 2 as i have it on my desire z now
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App
Running CyanogenMod nightly (based on Froyo) and there nothing's added to it regarding this. Maybe it's a HTC addon (from Sense 2) if you have it on Desire...or they have this activated for newer devices.
Connectify allows your mobile to browse the net through your PC's Internet connection, by creating an ad-hoc WI-FI network to which your phone can connect. This is useless if your Internet connection is already through WI-FI. You cannot have the Internet connection AND the hot-spot working in the same time using the same WI-FI card...at least I couldn't make it work.

[Q] Wi-fi hotspot app for a T-Mobile HD2

I have the T-Mobile (USA) version of the HTC HD2, still with the latest stock ROM, Windows Mobile 6.5.
I think I once read here that the European HD2 came with an app to use the phone's 3G connection as a wi-fi hotspot to tether other devices to. The T-Mobile USA version did not come with that though.
It didn't matter to me before. I have often tethered my laptop to the internet through the phone, but no need for wi-fi for that-- it works fine with USB or Bluetooth. (I usually use the Internet Connection Sharing applet. Occasionally dial-up networking.)
However, curious about IOS apps, and not wanting to change phone carriers and pay high monthly fees to get an Iphone, I just bought an ipod touch 4th generation to play with. It's only kind of internet connection is wi-fi. That will work when one has a wi-fi Internet connection, but one does not have that everywhere. It may have BT to connect to a headset, but I doubt it could tether through the HD2 that way. It might be possible with a couple adapters to connect the USB ports, but I doubt it would tether that way either. (If someone has found a way to do either though, to tether an IOS device through a stock ROM HD2 via BT and/or USB, please let me know.)
However, if I could find a way to make the HD2's 3G connection appear as a wi-fi hotspot, I assume that would work, to tether the Itouch with.
Is there an app I can download for my T-Mobile HD2, to use its 3G connection as a wi-fi hot spot? (Just an app. I do not have time now to deal with putting on a different ROM.) Do you have a link to it? If anyone reading has used the app, could you review how well it works?
Thank you.

Thanks, T.
Since I posted the OP, I discovered the app WMWiFiRouter.
Is this one you link to the same app with a different name, or a different app? If the latter, can anyone compare the two?
Also, since the original (not T-Mo USA) HD2 had a wifi router buoilt in, created by HTC, would that app work better on the HD2? Any way to download and install that to the T-Mo version? (again, without any ROM flashing.)
Doubt Wifi will work as HD2 will be adhoc wifi & ios device will want infrastructure wifi ...
Only way I have managed it is connecting HD2 via Win 7 Notebook (USB tether) then use Connectify on my Notebook to setup a infrastructure wifi hotspot that works with everything.
Amazes me in this day & age & level of development that we still have to jump through hoop after hoop to achieve basic functions.
Really about time the big OS developers pulled their finger out & make functional OS's that connect & share between devices with simplicity.
Amazing how even a Windows device & Windows PC alienate each other ! Microsoft could of really jumped ahead here years ago if had a bit of common sense & innovative development.
I'm sure WP8 will sort it all out ! not :-/

I think it is pretty much the same app as the one you found is actually the one I use to use on my HD2 back when I used Win Mo. But for some reason I could not find it, the app I linked looks just like the one I use to use. Also I think the app you found is just another version of the HTC app.
At Mister B, first it is good to see someone with your expertise in Win Mo still hanging out an helping others, have you ever concidered applying for RC status? Also I had two buddies that use to come over and connect via WiFi off my HD2 with a iPod touch and a iPhone three. So maybe not all of Apple's I products are so stupidly restrained.
Done a google on adhoc & iPhone, seems is possible, never had any luck when I tried but next time I get an iPhone volunteer willing to mess about with settings a bit more I will give it a proper go.
