Original htc magic Proximus rom

Hey,
i recently bought a htc magic but the previous owner had put the hero rom on it.
Now i want to update to android 1.6 but OTA doesn't work (duh )
I tried to flash with an original rom i found on this forums but then my phone didn't want to boot over the first bootscreen...
I fixed the problem eventualy but now i'm back where i started my magic with the hero rom
Is there anyone that can provide me with the original proximus (belgium) rom ?

ps: every tip on how to do it without the proximus rom that won't brick my phone are welcome
ps2: i'm a complete newbie at flashing roms btw , learned a bit by reading some topics here and the sapphire hacking wiki but count me in as a noob

I have an HTC Magic, also from Proximus.
On this forum there is a user called GyD who helped me out with some things and also has a ROM out based on the Proximus ROM if i'm not mistaken.
Maybe he still has the original ROM somewhere. I lost mine so i'm sorry.
Btw: is there a reason why you want to go back to the Proximus ROM? If it's for 1.6 donut could just as easily install a 1.6 ROM like cyanogenmod 4.1.9999

I want to go back to the stock rom just for 1.6 and because the rom now has some issues i think like no auto brightness and stuff like that.
What rom do you use now ? and does it run smooth on your phone?

I'm currently running [ROM](32A / 32B) Hero3G UNI Final.
It's running very smooth on my phone as a matter of fact.
I'm just having two issues with it at this point:
My bluetooth carkit (Parot) does not work. It connects and pairs but the Parot says it has no signal. The phone on the otherhand has no problems with the signal. My Parot can't sync my contacts to itself and because of this i can't call using the carkit.
I can sync with my exchange server at work when connected to the company network but every time when i sync it starts complaining about a security certificate that is not installed. No one could tell me how i install this. There is an option to add a certificate but it doesn't detect them on your phone... Sync does work after pressing continue a couple of times (using Touchdown is not considered a solution, merely a workaround)

Hero 3g UNI is awesome foe a Hero ROM but it is 1.5! For a moded 1.6 Cyanogen is by far the best and everyone makes themes for it so you can switch the look whenever you want. If you are on a 32A devise MAKE SURE YOU FLASH A 32A ROM!

Does somebody know if it would be possible to update my htc hero rom fitted magic with the (maybe later released) official htc 1.6android with sense ui, or will i have to flash it back to a magic rom or something?
@ x-i-phoner : jup learned it the hard way , btw i read somewhere that i will need to flash radio and SPL just to get the 1.6? and if so is this easily done?

Hi, I know this topic is a bit old but if you still want the ROM I have a nandroid backup of the stock rom(same like the guy above me posted, HTC Magic from Proximus), however it already has a bunch of extra apps installed and my personal data on it. But if you want it I can restore the backup, factory reset and make a new backup for you. Just send me a PM or something.

New to Magic on Rogers.. what do I need to know?

Ok, I will admit I am a total noobie with Android based phones. I have been on the Blackberry platform for years.
I just got my magic yesterday.
To my knowledge it has not been updated yet.
How would I go about seeing if it can be rooted? And what is the best way to get it rooted, if it can be?
I am an IT guy, I am not afraid to try things out, so give me some steps and I will do them ASAP.

1st, boot the phone by holding the back & power buttons. Tell us EXACTLY what is on the first 5 lines at the top of the screen.
From there you will know if your phone is rootable...

It says:

Those specs were the same as mine. I used the Relentless Rooter software to root my phone. It was free then but you now have to pay (you can find it in the app forum).
You can also use the unlockr one click method. Check his site and video. Remember to use the instructions for 32A. Some posters wrote that they could not use this method (flashrec) to flash the latest Amon_Ra recovery and the solution was to shorten Amon_Ra's recovery's name. I know this sounds foreign language right now, but I do suggest you read and research a bit, specially the comments posted under the unlockr's method.
Once rooted, you can find various custom Roms for 32A in the developers section. Make sure the Rom fits your radio and SPL.
Oh, once rooted, I would suggest changing your SPL 1.33.009 to an engineered SPL, like mine (I use 1.33.2010). You can do a search at google or within the developers forum to find out why.

CONSIDER YOURSELF EXTREMELY FORTUNATE, you have a HTC Magic with an OLD non perfected SPL. Hell it isn't even a protected SPL you can load custom roms right away without having to flash a a new SPL.
HTC Magic with that SPL are becoming rarer by the day.
I would look into what ROMs you're interested in, if you want a 1.6 ROM, I would recommend Cyanogen 32A Port or Amon_RA's 1.6 ROM.
If you don't need 1.6 and like Sense UI (I suggest youtubing Sense UI and Stock Android to see which you prefer), CursorDroid's Sense UI ROM is in my opinion the BEST ROM available for the HTC Magic.
Cyanogen and Amon_Ra's ROM will work with your current SPL (I believe). While CursorDroid's requires you to flash the SPL and Radio of your phone. Which is a bit intimidating for novices but if your well prepared and pay close attention to instructions it's easy.

I now have:
6.35.10.18 Radio
1.76.2007 SPL
And I installed the CursorSense32A-1.2.6.1 rom.
This is way better.

Maybe it was a new Magic which the person obtained from the HTC Dream upgrade.

Then for sure it was updated. Rogers wouldn't send out units with the bugged ROM.

My device is rooted, it has AmonRA-1.7.0 and CM-5.0.7 (right now upgrading to 5.0.8).
My question is, what *Updated* HBOOT and RADIO should i use? What are the advantages?
I think of hboot as something like a BIOS software and radio as an internal firmware for hardware components. Am i right? If i am, than it should be better to keep them up to date!
Could anyone please advice me on this? What versions should i use and where can i get them? =)

Actually there is no benefit from updating them.
An engineering SPL is what you should get, just as an additional layer of safety..but thats all.

Yes, finally i've read about SPL and i understand it: It's a bootloader for bootstraping the kernel loader, and the Eng's version has more functions like nand writing. Anyway, i'm updating to 2010 now just for the fun
But eyegor, tell me, how about the Radio?

I tried a newer version of 3.22 and it just caused me trouble. Namely, when powering down the phone it sometimes rebooted instead of shutting down and i had to pull the battery...
3.22.20.17 is known as being stable and working well

Ok, i've updated successfuly!
- Backup my SDCard to PC
- Copy 1.33.2010 Eng's SPL to SDCard
- Copy CM6 zip to SDCard
- Boot to AmonRA 1.7 and applied 1.33.2010 file, then Wipe (everything), then applied CM6-v1.2

Album viewer (similar to Nexus one) is just great.. It's cool and it shows our picasa albums xD

How to upgrade my htc Magic from 1.5 to 2.1 and how to know my device is 32a or 32b and also give me some rom to upgrade for 2.1.............................

first this is a question for general section, second no one can answer before we know what your phone is, you can enter fastboot to get the hboot and radio version and if it's 32a or b
turn on the phone and hold the back button down, to enter fastboot, and then lets us know your info

I need your great support, i own a HTC Magic for 2 years, currently are using Android1.5, could anyone can help me to upgrade my HTC Magic ti Android 2.x?
When i trying to entry recovery mode by pressing home + power button, that show me a figure is a triangle inside had a "!"... then i press again with home + power, that show me a message" E: Can't open/cache/recovery/command".
Could anyone can help me for settle this, i really want to use this phone again with android 2.x.

figure is a triangle inside had a "!" - This is stock recovery. It does not allow to flash anything except stock update.zip
2.
HTC updated Magic 32A only in Brazil and Canada (Rogers)
To flash brazilian or canadian version you have to create goldcard first. It avoids CID-check (CustomerID check).
3.
The best way is to flash custom ROM. You need:
- goldcard
- preparation step to get S-OFF and ENG hboot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5526163&postcount=1
- choose custom ROM with tags [32A][NewRadio] or [32A][6.35]

Step 1, do an OTA UPDATE TO 2.2.1 (FROYO) .
STEP 2. (OPTIONAL) IF YOU WANT TO FLASH OTHER ROMS OR ANYTHING, ROOT YOUR PHONE WITH SUPERONECLICK .
