New HD2 owner and win mo virgin after some hints - HD2 General

Hi all im a bit of a win mobile newb and just bought a uk HTC HD2 so have a few queries.
Normally i would apply google but given how new win mob 6.5 anf the HD2 are and the discrepancies between it and older versions i am finding i a bit tough finding info.
Any advice or links would be appreciated for the following questions.
1) can i install full flash on a web browser and is so how
2) is there an ssh client i can install
3) there is a .net 3.5 framework out but it wouldn't let me install from the phone or give me the option to isnt all while connected to windows mobile device centre, is it already setup or a way it install it.
4) divx support, where can i get it?
5) Host usb, i believe there are some drivers and a special cable needed, anyone tried this, any hints where to get the cable and if the drivers work?
6) any places that have good engineering apps and .net apps i can play with.
your assistance is appreciated, im more of a *nix bod so am beginning to think i would be happier on the n900 if it wasnt so thick and was ever released but its only been 2 days.
If anyone is thinking of getting and HD2 wants me to check any software out just ask.

Help & Is there a download for a Windows Mobile Emulator for my PC?

This might be a strange questions, but is there such thing as a WM Emulator that I can run on my PC?
I am new to the PPC world and am trying to learn how to mod my device. However I am kind of scared that I will mess it up, or 'brick it.'
Any advice on how/where to start? I have searched but all the posts or help threads seem old and outdated.
I feel like I need a 'Windows Mobile 6 for xv6800 for Dummies' book!
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.
You can try Microsoft Device Emulator 2.0 (the emulator) and Windows Mobile 6 Localized Emulator Images (the ROM). You can also download Virtual Machine Network Driver for Microsoft Device Emulator if you need to connect to a network.

Windows 7

Hey guys,
Reviewed alot of the posts here, but can't find out what the status is with the native functionality of cell modem access on Win 7...
I just got Windows 7 Pro installed (it isn't the beta, or hacked, it's retail), Everything is working (touchscreen, aero, etc...) with the exception of the native cell modem internet sharing.
I do know there is a hack by using the USB tool to get it working, however I'm just curious if anyone has it working the proper way as intended by HTC?
I'm noticing there are no devices missing drivers in the device manager, the HTC control app works fine, and even can control the modem on the snapvue side of things...
But there is still no "virtual" network adapater inside of the Network adapters on the system...
Scratch that...
I'm a tool. My shift has been sitting for 6 months after not being used until today when I decided to upgrade...
Totally forgot the virtual adapter only shows when no other connections are present...
Everything is working now
Hi!
How did you get the TS to work?
I've been trying to get the touchscreen to work with the latest W7 but no soceess. I've followed the guide on XDA and all tips on XDA but no sucess.
Could you maybe write down how you did even if it was just a regular installation? I've reinstalled and all but the ts just won't work!

To be honest, I was an idiot and had a horrible install... Here's what I did if you dare try..
1. Install all the drivers (NOT using compatibility mode and "Run as Admin")
Only a few things worked, it was horrible...
2. Re-installed ALL the drivers, using the list that HTC recomends. Keep in mind that the device manager will show some of the devices as not working, after you install all the drivers in Compatibility mode, along with "Run as admin". Go to the Device manager, and right click on all the problemtic devices and select "Uninstall".
3. Restart the computer, then Aero will start bluescreening and crashing. Boot into safemode (with networking). Go to the device manager and disable both Video card adapater shown.
4. restart and go to Intel's website and download the latest Chipset INF installer, and Video drivers for windows 7. Install the Chipset INI first, then video drivers...
5. At this point I can't remember but I thinnk the touchscreen didn't work. I just ran the Touchscreen installer one last time, and BANG it worked...
Sorry for my horrible instructions, it was a messy install, but everything is working for me now.
Thanks!
I't looks similar to how i've been fooling around with my shift.
Well, at least it's gratifying to know that i may get it to work if keep messing with it

Hi just have a quick question: When you upgraded your vista to Win 7, do you used the upgraded disk or start from the OEM win 7?
I actually didn't upgrade.
I used a Open Business Volume disc I have that was issued to my company. I guess it's the same thing as a retail copy.
I did a fresh install.

Thanks! It is OEM Disk. And one more think are you install the Win 7 pro or the ultimate? Thanks again. I really appreciate your help.
I could be wrong, but I think I did Win 7 Pro
Thanks again...I will try to install win7 pro on mine. I think 7 ultimate for Shift is too much coz the processor itself is only 800Mhz.

Omnia II (i8000) and Windows Mobile Device Center

Hi,
Can anyone please tell me why my Omnia II (i8000) is not detected by ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center? I'm tired of trying and very close to giving up hope.
Can you please help me with the issue?
First try on another computer. Then you know more and you can search this site.
I tried with 5 computers. Do I need more?
well i have the opposite case ... everytime a connect mine it detects a new phone .....
In win xp just a one time installation of activesync 4.5 then reboots afterwards then install pc studio that came with a cd or download the latest one.
i had this kind of problem with WMDC running in win 7 ultimate.
what i did was
1. install the pc studio sw (use compatibility mode as win vista sp1) then reboot
2. when u plug the O2 it will try to find the driver but will fail to install.
3. uninstall WMDC thru add/remove programs
4. when u go to dev mgr u will see I8000 with "Question Mark" meaning driver doesnt install properly( pretty much obvious..)
4. try to update the driver manually it says to search driver thru internet select that option if u miss it.. ur next option is to run windows update
5. win update will try to find the latest patch and driver update for ur system. (ur phone shuld be connected to pc at this moment) so that it will find the hardware update available for your pc.
6. go to "hardware option" on the windows update, if u see the "MIT USB Sync" thats the driver for your omnia 2, select that and install it right away..once finish reboot while phone are still connected.
7. if it doesnt find the hardware update on first run..reboot and try it again..( it took me several hrs before it finds the mit usb sync.. patience it s must here)
8. WMDC will run on startup automatically.
hope this will help..
and the bad part is Samsung did not make any driver/software for Windows 7
My i8000 works without a hitch on my Win7 system (x64 and x86). Check if your device's USB option is set to ActiveSyn or USB Mass Storage.

CSC--I8000NUII3
these are the details in version..can anyone get me a solution..
i read from internet that i could go to samsung site of a country and upgrade it from that site if my phone was manufactured in that country..im not sure if thats right..
pls tell me from which place my phone was made..
and also is it possible for me to upgrade to winmo 6.5 from samsung site...
PHONE--I8000XXII4
Just to share ... Spent abt 6hrs figuring out why my omnia 2 would always hang when i needed to set it up for partnership in order to sync in WMDC (OS = Win7). Been searching wif different keywords in google and realised my problem is not common which convinces me that there is something funky with my set up that is preventing the sync.
Got lucky today ... did a wild google on "omnia 2 wmdc driver" ... and on 1 of the threads, discovered that it is important that the Windows in-built Windows Media Player had to be "installed", which i didnt do since i'd been using other media players. And voila ... issue resolved.
MS sucks! Especially when you get humiliated by such problems that seems so easily fixed. =D

REQUEST PLEASE: HSPL.cab

I am really looking for a HSPL.cab if one exists anywhere, if not i would be grateful if someone (more clever-a than me) could make one.
Apart from the options of installing away from PCs I dont actually use windows / activesync on any of my machines (they are all linux), and as such I am pretty limited without .cab installs.
Thanks for the help, heres hoping!
You can install VirtualBox @ your distro and map USB port do Virtual Machine running Windows XP and ActiveSync.
Regards,
True, but its a fair amount of effort to go through just to get 1 app on my fone for this one time. I also was hoping a .cab might be useful for a few other people.
If there isnt the interest i guess i will have to go down he virtual box route and dig out my old windows xp cds.

Its not an 'app' and you certainly cant install it via a cab. It can only be done via the methods explained in my flashing thread and can only be done via activesync (windows xp or windows7 32bit preferred).
If you cant manage to do it that way then im afraid you cant install HardSPL.
The effort is well worth it if you want to be able to protect your phone and want to flash custom roms

Nice idea, sadly it hangs/stops working just after the phone restarts to the bootloader screen. I guess it could have been worse, it could have hung about 1min in to the instal and bricked my phone.
I think im going to have to resort to using windows this once.

[Q] Install Android on Samsung B7320

Hi,
I have a Samsung Omnia Pro B7320 handset, that wrongly upgraded to At&t Windows Mobile 6.5 that was developed for Samsung Jack by me and started malfunctioning... ! LED flashing, no battery charging, some keys not working &....
This story is for about 4 years ago. On that time I searched for a solution to get it back to its original ROM but my attempts were unsuccessful. So I dropped it in drawer.
Now I decide to use it as an ARM board like raspberry with Linux or Android. Is any one can help me?
I searched in the net but found nothing. There were some solutions for some other Windows Mobile devices, but not for B7320.
Here I want to clear that I don't want to use it as a mobile phone, so it is not important that some drivers will not be working...
All I want from this device is an ARM processor board with USB that make me able to access its OS via any type of connection.
Thanks

share the same chipset with your phone. you can find a ROM matching your chipset and try to port it to your phone.
type some of the phone models to xdaforum or on google and try to port.
some basics on how to port you can find typing "android porting" etc on google
because your phone has win mobile you need haret to boot your android ROM
hope i helped
