Hey xda´s I have a small problem with my manilla 2.5 on my hd2.
I installed opera 10 for looking how it is working and it made itself the default browser on manilla internet tab. Now I uninstalled the opera 10 and now there is internet explorer as default but the opera browser who comes with the stock rom is already on the device and working as usual when I go to "start" and click on "opera". So there is nothing deleted from the browser but how can I make it the default browser in manilla now because I hate the internet explorer!?!
With a registry editor go to: /HKLM/Software/Microsoft/Shell/Rai/: DEFBROWSER/1/ and enter the following string: \Windows\OperaL.exe
If it's hard to edit registry for you, you can just navigate to Device\Windows\OperaL.exe or Device\Windows\Opera9.exe (do not really remember which one). When you run it, go to options, it will probably selected(in Advanced tab) that it is already default browser. Uncheck it, click confirmation button(left-bottom). Open the settings again and select it as default browser. Confirm and done!
Just open the original opera, go to settings/advanced and check the box with opera as a default browser
I did the same as you mate. When you get opera 9.7 working again, you may find that multi-touch doesn't work any more. I hope for your sake that it does, cos I needed to hard reset to get everything working again.
No, no problem so far, everything works fine, I also did some softresets and it is still working.

Hi. I have Netfront 3.5 installed in my x7501 and use it as my primary browser but when I click on an email or text URL it will use Opera as the default browser so does anyone know of a setting or a reg hack that will let me use Netfront first? Thanks...TJ
I have the same problem. When reading news feeds the same problem applies. Would be real improvement if there is a way to change the default browser.

i wrote a small .net app that should display html pages in the webbrowser control (System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser) on a form.
instead of displaying the html page in the form it opens the opera browser.
anybody ou there who has the same problem?
That is I think because opera associates it self with everything vaguely internet related. Try uninstalling opera and testing it again...
i can not remove the opera browser software because i have not installed it. it comes with the htc touch cruise build in as default browser :-(
Okay... Could you delete some of the registry keys and restore them when your done? My phone's not fully working ATM so I can't tell you exactly where they'll be, but something like HKCU\.HTML and HKCU\HTMLFILE

If i've undertood you want to open your htlm with I.E. and not with Opera...
Il this is right you have to modify a simple key in Registry...
Go to...
HKCR - > HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT
search ".htm"
and you have to modify in...
(Default) -> htmlfile
Content Type -> text/html
Than Soft Reset.... that's all

I am using a software which provides me information in the forms of texts and figures. Everytime when I opened figures on my HD, Opera activated itself and took over the role of viewing figures. Subsequently, all the informations including texts and figures must be viewed by the Opera, and crashes frequently occured. I wonder if Opera could be inactivated so to prevent this problem.

I think your problem is that Opera is declared to be the standard browser. Maybe changing this would help. As far as I know this is done by changing some registry keys.
Is it possible to change the link in Touchflo 3D on my blackstone from opera to another browser ?

I remember having to do this on one of my older PDAs. I believe the instructions that I followed were roughly similar to the ones found at this link.
Note that this is actually for Windows Mobile 5, but there's a good chance they will still work. Just make sure you note down all of your original settings before you change anything. And, as always, try at your own risk.

i had the same problem. i was using uptodate medical program. the software is designed to be used with PIE. so what i did was google the regedit. there are a lot of regs to be editted to change from opera to PIE. basically what u could do is open regedit on a pda without opera browser. just change the main .html, .htts etc to pie. hope this helps for a start. but if you still have problem. post a reply and i'll give full regedit amendments. thanks
please e_cam23, i am also a fellow uptodate user and i have the same problem.. using uptodate on the blackstone is a painful experience for me :'( sometimes it works and sometimes opera opens and then crashes and takes me back to the previous uptodate page pleeeeeease help me out i am trying to make IE the default bs i couldn't on my own..

In the latest version(16.3) of UptoDate, crashes occur far less frequently. Try it out and you will feel relieved!
I am not sure where to get it from i got it from a friend on a dvd..
forgot to say that all the method i found for touch pro and diamond and kaiser did not work on my hd.. editing registry values in RAI under shell to iexplore and Pocket ie,, also a file by darkness which tells me unsuccessful installment when i run it :S

from my understanding Opera is 'hardcoded' in TF3D, changes in the registry will not have the effect you want. From my knowledge there are two ways to overcome this.
1. use SSMaPa to patch another default browser into Manila.exe (works also for some other applications)

install new version of opera doesnt mater wether on the device memory or the storage card but i did it on the storage and then uninstall it you'll end up with explorer being the default browser for everything and this is the only way that worked for me

I'm using the beta Opera 10 from SD card and it works fine (very impressive). I did not delete the original version. It's handling of drop-down selection lists is particularly user-friendly. But only the original version will change to landscape mode when you tip the HD2 sideways.

there's an updated version that supports rotation. but still no pinch to zoom
I'll try it. Meanwhile, I like to 'tap screen to zoom' that Opera 10 does more than the pinch. It works like the closeup function on the HD2 camera.
just add the window class to the reg or use bsb tweaks to enable landscape.
beta 2 does seem as happy run of sd as it does in main memory. just remember to set the caches to storage card.
both apps are installed in different folders so they don't conflict.
I installed the beta 2 of opera 10 and i still have the orginal (Installed Opera 10 to phone) gonna delete the original, well at least for now.

When installing opera 10 is it possible for the web tab of sense 2.5 to open quick link favourites in this instead of the pre-installed opera version? Is it just a case of setting it as default? If this is the case would any browser work ie skyfire?

beta2 works great. improvement in almost/all every aspect
Runs much faster and overall great improvement. Now all that is missing is multitouch zoom and flash support and we are 99% satisfied!
In fact, you can install both in SD or device memory. They application has a different name. One is Opera and the other is Opera 10.

The new version, 10 Beta 2u also auto-rotates to landscape mode.
What are the improvements over Opera 9 and are there any negatives?
- The negative point for Opera 9 in my opinion is that most of the time it wants to open the web page in 'mobile' version by default. This only reasons is so boring that it made me prefere Opera 10.
- With Opera 10 you will lose the Pinch & zoom.
Wow this new beta 2 is great! This version Does rotate without having to use tweaks. Browsing is wonderful!!

in the address bar. Then hit preferences and do a search for "first". A list should appear with something like first launch. tick this box, then hit save. exit opera. Open opera 9. it should now be default browser.

I'm truly wondering what's wrong with PIE on my device. If I enter a URL, just nothing happens, not even an error message, it will pretend to load for a little second, say that it loaded 0 kb and that's it. If data is switched off, it won't switch on, if data is switched on, nothing happens either.
All other internet requiring apps run perfectly on my device, e.g. Opera Mobile 10 or RSS Hub, even WeatherWatcher which makes use of PIE. Setting PIE to default browser doesn't change anything about its behaviour.
Here's my setup:
- Blackstone latest stock ROM ;
- Opera Mobile 10 Beta set as default browser ;
- Opera Mobile 9.7 installed for use within Manila ;
- WMLongLife running as a service.
Can anyone help me with some troubleshooting please?

IE itself sure enough, however, any application depending on IE (e.g. MySearch by Sleuth) doesn't work either because of that. So I am and certainly many others are very much interested in getting IE to run again ... I suspect that there is some conflict with WMLongLife, have to see ...
