Use multimedia button to force screen rotation? - Imagio General

Is there a program that will do what the title of the thread suggests? That is, I want to be able to force whatever screen is currently displayed to rotate to landscape when I press the multimedia button. I do not want any auto-rotation. I want to be able to completely control when the screen rotates.

You can do it under the buttons menu in settings
I have mine set as 'Okay'

I'm sorry but I don't see that option. When I select Buttons -- Multimedia Key it only allows me to assign a program to opne or some simple commands such as <OK/Close>, <Context Menu>, <Scroll> etc.

Is there anyway to unlock all buttons?

I remember I used to be able to press any buttons to turn on the Dopod. it used to be under settings -> Buttons -> lock tabs.
but now that it's disappeared, is there any other work around?
Thanks
Maybe this way?
Start, Settings, click the System tab, then click on Key Lock. Select "Do not lock buttons"? Let me know if this is not what you were looking for.

why don't you just change the setting in Advanced Config so that whenever the screen is switched off, the phone automatically locks?

For example great sensorlock

You may try this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425650
This software works very good and only disable the touch screen when there is call so that the call will not accidentally missed. Just what phone lock works. By the way, HTC dialer will automatically disable the built in phone lock when there comes a new call.

Pocket informant full screen mode.

Hi!
I'm using Pocket informant 8.1 and I've been struggeling with the full screen mode that won't go off.
In menu/my informant, fullscreen is always checked and at startup it gives me the "warning" message how to click any front key application to turn full screen mode off.
Does anyone know how to permanently disable the full screen mode?
Instruction-pdf say nothing about full screen mode.
Found a working solution.
If someone runs into the same problem here's what I did.
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WebIS\PocketInformant and delete "FullScreen".
Thanks!

If you are in fullscreen mode, you may also come back to normal screen by long-press on the answerkey of your phone.

[Q] Is there a way to force a menu to appear?

I have several apps which work fine on phone.
They also run on the tablet - BUT there is no menu icon, neither at the bottom next to the 3 standard ones, nor is there a menu icon in the upper right corner. There is no menu icon.
So I wonder if someone has a trick to send a "menu pressed" signal to the app so i can access the settings.
I know i know, tell them to update their apps, but some people have left and others will take years to fix that if ever -
So i thought perhaps there was some sort of shortcut or perhaps hack which could make a menu appear? You know like you can record keypresses on a PC and then play them back.
The soft menu button on the screen works fine for me, its the 4th icon (Series of lines, top one one is longest) - same goes for the menu button that's on the keyboard.

Yes..
It also works for me when they are there. But they are NOT THERE for the apps in question.
I think you got this backwards,
The menu button will only appear if the app has a settings menu.
Majority of the Honeycomb optimized apps do not have a menu button because there either isn't no menu for that app or they have moved the menu button to the action bar on the top right, which is the new standard
The settings button is primarily used for backwards compatibility with older apps. This is why developers are removing the menu buttonwhen they optimize their app.

As I also indicated, there is nothing "optimized" about these apps. (And these have many settings which are now unreachable)

Some apps on the phone will scale differently on a tab, if you used the menu button n your phone doesn't necessarily mean the tablet version will need a hard menu button.
As I said before, if there is no menu button the bottom nav bar, it would be on the top right corner of the action bar. Older phone apps should show up a menu button automatically anyway. The only reason if there isnt one is that the developer chose so because they added one on the action bar.

Can you give us an example?
I've yet to encounter a single application with this issue, so I'd like to take a look.

I see, in this case its the developers fault. For some reason he disabled the menu button which should be there by default.

I know its not there. I was asking for a hack or some way to force a program to show the menu.

Alright alright :/ Sorry that I am not any help but as far as I know there isn't any way to forcefully press the menu button.
The only option is to contact the dev and say the menu button is disabled.

+1 for this helpful comment. I am also looking for this as I have an Asus Eee Tranformer without the dock and cannot setup SetCPU app on my tab.

disable Bixby but still use button

Is there a way to use bk disabler and disable Bixby completely while still retaining the use of the button? Whenever I disabled Bixby with bk the button stopped writing all together.
Yes, you can edit a file to write a specific function to the button. The possibilities are rather limited though.
What would you like to do with the button?

Just make it where the camera pops up with the button. Which file do I need to edit? Is this a thing you need to have root for?

Why would I want that? That's kinda useless when we have a toggle tile for that.
Both not possible AFAIK. I think it's limited to GA and the other hardware buttons... I'll search for the thread and post it here in a few minutes...
Edit: one option https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/themes/button-mapper-beta-testing-t3646743
